  1. I came back for GR in general, but the incarnate stuff was part of that. I haven't really gotten into the trials though. In the abstract they strike me as something I'd like, but in practice I just haven't enjoyed them much. I'm hoping the next round of new trials will click a little better with me.
  2. Like I said to a friend the other night, this is the only game I've played where I log in my favorite character and sometimes stop and think "Somebody actually made a game where I get to play this... no f'n way!"
  3. We're in luck, barring some kind of bug or whatever. I20 is officially going live tomorrow.

I think that's poodoo, not Voodoo.
  5. Provided RL doesn't interfere, I'm in. Bringing Lady Astraea Steren, 50+1 scrapper.

  9. If he gets a job working for Intel, does he become Multi-Core?
  10. Apparently that image is not the finished product, actual stills from the show can be found here.

This costume is much better IMO, though I'm still not sold on the actress. I'll give it an episode or two to impress me.
  11. Definitely want. I remember ordering the first edition through the mail the first time I saw an ad for it. There are things I like about the rebooted version, but the original just has that certain something. I wish I could find a decent group up here to play it with.

That's got to be confusing when they all start introducing themselves....
  13. Wow. I think I might actually buy Punisher, now.

Are you even supposed to be here today? :P

That hasn't actually been true in the comics since the '60s or so, but yeah. It used to be a major aspect of her stories. She did have it stolen and used against her in a recent story arc, but it was more of a parody and subversion of those old stories than anything else.
  16. I don't care for the color choices, but as for the plastic look, bear in mind that the first shots we saw of Thor's movie outfit had the same problem. He looked great in the actual trailers, though. I don't know if it's something they do in post-production or a lighting thing or what, but it's very possible the costume won't look so artificial in the actual show.

As far as the changes, I think she'd be better with either black boots or with black pants and the classic red boots, and I think the high heels are not going to go over well in live action. They should have gone with a heavier tread and more practical design, something like what Batwoman has in the comics. I like that they put her in pants though, I like Wonder Woman but I've never liked the silly shorts look. Either give her pants or put a nice looking skirt over the shorts.

He would be the worst rules lawyer.
  18. And there goes my interest in this film.

Still, I wonder if that same structure can be kept if a mass influx of RPers hit Union. Smaller groups can keep the structure better, which is why I think Union can pull this off now, while virtue can't.
Admittedly I'm pretty out of touch with the community outside my SG and a handful of friends, so I may be making assumptions based on old information. But from what I saw and experienced back in the day, it wasn't the number of RPers on Virtue that hurt it's sense of cohesion so much as the rivalries that used to go on between prominent RPers and their cliques. Speaking for myself and for several of my friends, we gave up on trying to tie our RP into the RP of others who weren't close personal friends exactly because we didn't want to get dragged into some blowout over Rocket Pants having committed a minor alleged godmoding two years ago and Space Trunk Man still being upset about it. I don't want to get specific and invite a flame war, but you know what I mean. The general rank and file of Virtue RPers have always struck me as fairly unproblematic, it's been the "movers and shakers", as it were, that have in some cases been a problem. If Union's more prominent and popular RPers and cliques are able to conduct themselves differently, I could see that cohesion maybe surviving the addition of a few Virtueites.

Again I'm far from giving this show any final judgements one way or the other...
What she said. Remember, the early Thor images looked fake and plastic-y too, but the outfit looked much better in the actual trailers.

I'm not sold on the pants and boots being the same color. I'm thinking they should have gone black with the pants and then with the classic red boots, or maybe with these pants and black boots. Still, I like my WW in either pants or a reasonably modest skirt, so if nothing else I'm encouraged by the lack of granny panties or Wonder Thong.

Auto repair with Batman. You pull up with the car and start explaining that it's making terrible sputtering noises and has no acceleration and you're pretty sure you blew a cylinder. Batman holds up a hand to shut you up and says "No. You need a new distributor cap. And plugs.". You ask, "but how could you tell? You haven't even opened the hood yet!"

    You know the rest.

However, I also know how workflows usually work and when "custom" furry NPC's in the D show up in means they had a higher priority for the game's design team than longstanding bugs.

And don't even get me started on how much **** needs to be done to the Mac client.
I'll do you one better. I have two sgmates and a couple other friends who work in the video game industry. One of them works on an mmorpg. What you just said is just plain incorrect.
  23. I badly want to change my screen name to Advance Sargeant Carl Harris now.
  24. Add to that analogy the fact that it was actually someone else (Cryptic) who designed and built the first several levels of the tower, and when you took over no one bothered to explain to you exactly how it was designed or how all of the architecture behind it actually works. You've had to figure some things out as you go along, all the while maintaining construction on the upper levels of the tower.

Remember, the studio running the game now isn't the same one that created it, not entirely anyway. I remember Castle having to admit that the way taunt effects work was completely different from how he had been told, a few years after the game's release. It makes sense to consider that Paragon Studios probably had to figure out other things about how the game's guts work, too. I know that doesn't make it suck any less when a stuck mob screw up a long, un-fun mission, but it's the way it is.
