  1. People are always gonna whinge when they lose.

If they're rubbish try another AT/build/powerset etc

Or a new game plan would be that if Stalkers are 'nerfed' and shouldn't AS, then surely, Controllers can't control, tanks shouldn't tank and mm's not to use minions and so on?

These are the powersets people, deal with it. I do and occasionally i lose, but you won't see me crying on my way back from hospital coz a stalker used it's built-in powers on me.

    Lighten up, its a game.
  2. I love this this AT and I hate/love fighting against it... but that only makes me work harder!

We all know how to get around a stalker now but can the stalker pull something back?

Do the defensive attributes of powers like Manuveurs and Hover stack or help the Hide+Stealth combo?

My Regen stalker used to be quality, but he reluctantly admits, a respec would serve him better in today's stalk the stalker PvP experience.

    Tips welcome, thx!

    PvP Build

You can make a build which suits both comfortably, you just have to pick the powers that serve well in both and slot accordingly.

What you slot in PvE can potentially serve just as well in PvP.

This can be done, as I have it on my blaster and he serves well in both environments, whats needed each style applies to the other.

Getting to know the game and the AT, powers etc better will help in the long run more than anything.

I'm aware you design a toon specifically for a set purpose.

For example, my Stalker needs a respec to do better in PvP, as he is omly OK/average at the moment. However, I will be considering his PvE strengths/weaknesses when I do.

Magic word here: Balance. Design for your needs or wants.
  4. I've got my main pools sorted to suit the character, Fitness, Concealment & Jumping. But several others are all in keeping with the character, so I'm considering PvP here, which would be the best choice? Leadership for the buffs (e.g.+perception) or......?

Not knowing the MA/SR powersets, I'm not sure if +perception is covered!
  5. Whooo!

    Talk about End heavy!

    Okay folks, many thanks.

If anything else comes to mind, plz add it. Cheers.

    goofing off

I haven't got round to reading all of this yet. I'll need a chuckle soon & i'll do it then.

    Agree with Krunch pretty much.

It's your zone too dude, go mad.

Duellers, dancers or people that don't want to be attacked in a PvP environment... what the <expletive removed> are you doing in a PvP zone!?!?!?

    Get lost or get defending.

Ignore the Abuse, close chat box and start hacking, blasting or whatever it is you do. My latest trick? Ignore nitwits and attack at full power

NB: Duelling is fine to do wherever but in a PvP zone, you know the risks; tough.
  7. I've not ventured into PvP with my blaster for a while, having popped in, I've had loads of laughs and a good time.

He kicks back quite nicely, BUT, one of the weaknesses I've noticed with my blaster is that he can be prone to the odd Hold etc... these usually end up one way once the BF's have run dry...

He's armed with tactics & Assault for the perception bonuses but I need to know if there are any powers that could protect, prevent or at least help against falling prey to the Immob's and co.?

Any help or hint will be most welcome.

btw, he can suffer from this in PvE too but BF's are nearer then and don't cost bounty!
  8. Advice, suggestions, hints etc. please.

One of my next toons is to be a Martial Artist with Super Reflexes. It needs to be crossed for both effective use in PvP and get along competently (solo if necessary) in PvE.

Will I need Stamina? I understand virtually all builds do but.... (this is where you all come in )
  9. Some top tips there!

    Many thanks!
  10. It seems that most defenders (& in some cases Controllers)can be pretty tough to play.

You can heal for an hour solidly, dutifully buffing your team, but then one wrong button or mis-timed buff etc. and you miss a person's heal/CM and you get "bloody useless defender!" shouted out?!?! I'll explain nicely at first and go from there.

Thankfully, this is primarily from the naive fools that haven't played the AT or people in the lower levels, but sometimes, just sometimes, these people creep into the higher levels having still not learnt!
  11. Oh yeah the Epic pool.

Munitions was the most fitting for my character. Took the Body Armour for the defence aspect. The other weapons suit also, but not got them yet!
  12. Your travel is a personal choice.

My blaster is character built and has Fly because of it, awesome manuveurability with practice, has Hover for combat.
It's an okay PvP power, but be prepared for the experienced players to catch up.

That said, mine's a nice mix between range and some awesome melee for the fight moves in close.

I'm due to respec but these powers have served me well.

Snipe, Power Blast, Power Bolt and Power Torrent.

Snipe is awesome & a must have item. The Torrent is for crowds of minions and/or making some space for well timed Snipe on the higher foes.

The Bolt, agreed, has low dmg even when triple slotted (& may go in my respec) but it has super low end cost & v. fast recharge so you can keep on firing.

These four ranged attacks make a good chain for me.

Melee, Power Punch I got rid of but may go back & up it with Knock Back.

The heavy punch (can't remember it's name) & Total Focus is a must.

The first little punch you get has low dmg output BUT is cool for knocking back annoying/swarming villians, this may be traded if I can find another power that does the same & recharges as quick.

Nova - superb power, always have a bluey in your pocket with this one tho.

Air Superiority fits my toon when villains follow me skyward, it also gets used in my melee chain.

Take Medecine, if only for the Heal Self power, you'll find this handy!

Get Endurance ASAP!!! Lvl 20 I believe or as soon as it highlights on your respec screen!

The other powers, Build Up, Aim etc, I haven't played with yet, the write ups never leapt out at me. (Conserve Power b4 I knew about Stamina did tho), so I'll have to try them on the Test Server perhaps...

Vertical movement for me.... very useful. My SS defender runs miles round a map sometimes without the vertical option

Took the Leadership pool, really handy buffs but it was chosen originally to suit my character build.

Hope this helps in some way!!!

I havent heard much more intelligent banter in there.. And I still can't seem to grasp whats supposed to be fun in PvP with that sort of attitudes abundant..

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a shame some people feel like this but I've experienced similar numb-nuts in PvE, (yeeeesss.... the likelihood is you will have more chance of meeting these in PvP) but they are in the minority.

As you can see from the posts, some good people hang out in these zones too, "Lest We Forget" and laughs are had.

I love the PvP experience and I guess you can ignore, put on ignore, argue or deal with it however you like.

I've tried most methods of dealing with these daft people and I happen to be exceptionally good at arguments, not just the red-faced tirade types, specifically the balanced, calm explanation types that can pick the opposition's case to pieces, which often leads to /em tailbetweenlegs. The plain old fashioned silent treatment can work wonders too, some strange fun can be had here, Mua ha ha ha!

The way I see CoX is the way I view the comics and most movies, you have the hero & the villain, with it comes the mandatory repetoire e.g. a well known web slinger & his 8-armed nemesis, Austin Powers & Dr Evil etc. When I'm in PvP it's my duty to playfully taunt my foe just like the above mentioned. It can be done to hilarious effect and makes up the character! Most enjoy it, those that don't, I'll usually stop (coz it's not the same without a witty retort) but I NEVER swear, accuse or victimise someone because I can carry the banter out with some class.

Raise your glasses for hero/villain banter but frown & petition on those that spam broadcast with abuse & foul language.

    SG missions

Sg missions are an option.... although they're not active on CoH right now, please protest for more SG missions!!

The bases as they stand can be useful depending on your uses in-game, but they are geared towards PvP to some degree.

However, base raids are only compulsory IF you're defending an IoP. They CAN NOT be declined.

Before you have an IoP or base raid tp's etc, you can raid for fun (these type of raids can be declined) and no lasting damage takes places, everything is restored.

The IoP is open season on the owner, the current debate is, is it worth having one..... bonuses vs damage/cost on base....

IoP owning official raids, you get some warning that a raid will open on said date, you CAN NOT decline these. It's the SG's job to organise defence.

The 'play' raids can be declined.

Hope this helps, none of it is scripture only what I've read!

Had the same. I beat a MA/regen with my blapper. He said "real PvPers dont use insps, fight me with no insps". I said"ok let me go get my controller" He said "err no "

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nice touch, the way I see it, insps are a part of the structure/game plan just as much as any power.

Your AT can't take the heat? Get off your high horse or fight with the cards you dealt your build with....

    Sore losers suck.

    Loving PvP, faceplant or not.

    Basic Telepads

Ensure there no items 'in the way' on the wall/floor e.g. stacks of paper, hose pipe etc.

Keep it away from blocking the doorway(s).

Some click & drag. Once you clicked on Basic telepad to place, it should appear in the edit box. Click & hold it while moving your character to the tp room then place it. Make sure it's facing the right way to ensure access to it once placed.

If you still have problems, post here & i'll have muck about & let you know click for click what I did.
  17. Cool idea, but IMO, this would be better suited to the Mega Monitor.

Also, the Super tab gives some of this information already.
  18. It's not on bind just yet, but I'm quite fond of this one at the moment

"Who wants to live forever anyway? I'm working NOVA TIME!"

It's usually just the last part though.
  19. Bases are recent additions, I can only assume there is room for improvement, so give it a little time or a couple of patches.

The actual base building is easy enough to use but sometimes it is a bit frustrating when you know full well a room can go exactly where YOU want it but the editor says NO.

The prices are massively high, which I've decided is a good thing. CoX is designed for the long term and part of the experience is encourage team work. Lead/support an SG into saving for the next phase on your base etc...

The complaint from most is 'Daddy, I want a big base & I want one NOW!' I say, chill, what's the rush, build it as you go, make it an ongoing project. Otherwise we'd all have uber bases with an absolute build, which would equal a trip to Yawn City. "oh you've got 6 plasma cannons, 10 turrets and rabid fish guarding your vault too.... that's the 53rd base I've seen like it today"

I do however, agree with the rent quibble. What purpose does it serve? It's the SG's base, we've paid to keep it powered & controlled. Why the rent? Literally throwing away money to a registrar despite the fact we've saved his behind from countless villianous plots!

The SG items.... until i'm given a decent reason, I agree with the above, we've procured the correct salvage, to build on the correct worktable we've bought in the base we keep correctly powered & controlled, now we pay pay over the odds to install it? 'Bah, let's get 3 Databases instead, I know they're not as pretty Wonder-lad, but times are bleak'

Getting kicked out seems kinda pointless to, why? 'I wanna use the space to chat, I just don't need my Med Bay/TP/Workshop this month...'

Finally, so far I've found the base pretty useful for transport (incl the reclaimator's = same zone arrival) and holding meetings and the like. I do not doubt they can be improved however... *coughs SG mission computer* *ahem some missions please*

I'm already in a VG/SG but would love to form (or join) a Squad devoted to belittling these ganking bullies.

E.G One of the Squad is in a PvP zone & they see a team of 8 farming some poor sole to the ends of the zone (hosp), the squad member switches on their Anti-gankers channel, see who's about, form a team and we move in and absolutely obliterate the fools!

I've got heroes or villains for this squad...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And become one of them yourself...

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a valid point, but flawed.

Intentionally, the squad would not be the ones bullying 8-on-1 repeatedly and pretty much forcing that player to log in the hospital, thus putting someone off the zone.

My point is, I guess, is somewhat more vigilante, I don't like to see ganking up on someone, especially in a case like the above. The idea is to help the person in need, give the bullies a taste of their own, and moreso, it leaps into an instant PvP event, all parties get what they want.
  22. Thirded! If possible?

I'm all for playful banter & most crowds often commend someone on a hunt/fight etc.. but you get the morons that abuse the channels.

Any foul language should be petitioned, be it PvE or PvP, (among friends I'm sure is upto them).

9/10 of my PvP eperiences have been a great laugh & met some awesome ppl, some of which could give advice on my build etc.

The official EULA, as quoted earlier, is the 'CoC' all players must adhere to. Do NOT let others tell you how to play, you play as you wish.

Abuse should not be tolerated, we all play for fun, it's a shame the minority is getting this much attention on the forums again.

  24. I've seen some pretty good points here and I for one am quite proud of the base my SG has saved up for and and built, it's facilities have proved well worth while.
Unfortunately, I can't offer any answers as I'm not entirely certain of numbers etc, but I do have the following thoughts.

    1) I think Evillimber raised a very good point, in that CoX aren't going anywhere and so no matter how proud of your base, you can always rebuild. (Imagine how cheesed the Xmen get each time Juggy & co 'stroll' thru their residence?!) Villains are destructive as are heroes, even pre-emptively, where necessary. So destructive base raiding although painful on the time/prestige wallet is acceptable, i.e. States' "risks" comment.

2)With the above in mind, I'm not keen on getting a weekly bashing from an all powerful SG, repeatedly destroying EVERYTHING and not going for my IoP just because one of 'theirs' had a tiff with one 'my' members.
Say they organise a Raid at 4am on a Tuesday morning or some other highly unsuitable time, it's highly improbable enough SG'ers could be there to defend against that!

So, in summary, I guess destruction is par for the course BUT something must be put in place to prevent it's abuse.

Perhaps one SG can raid an IoP holding SG once every 60 days? If they fail, the next in line gets a chance. The IoP needs to be well worth holding onto as well.
  25. It looks to me like a whole bunch of impatient people want great big bases quick & easy! What's the point?

CoH & CoV aren't going anywhere soon (I hope) so what's the rush? Admittedly I thought exchange rates & base items/plots were waaaay overpriced or ridiculous, but then I stopped & thought - If we work at it, it'll be all the more rewarding.

I bought my CoV to get a base for my then modest SG. As a reasonably small SG getting the basics off the ground seemed to take an age!

The SG kept growing bit by bit and goals were set for the next part or room we needed.
It's a good feeling to have achieved the next piece & comments from the SG like 'wicked, we managed to get the tp's then! I wanna try it out!'

Like I said, Co* is not going anywhere, my base & team are always a work in progress & i have a laugh doing it

Enjoy the game, if you race to the end you may feel you missed something or perhaps even boredom!

I understand people wanna utilise the make their own base option, as I'm one of them! I also respect those who want to contribute to their SG, be it big or small.

I've worked at my SG to get some friendly, active & decent players in, we've got the basic fully functioning base now, people are chuffed & now we're looking at expanding it & arming it for the raids!
