  1. Smashing/Lethal are most common out of the damage types, with the energies following behind. Just capping S/L will be good enough. Smashing/Lethal will definitely make the character feel stronger, and chances are when you are teaming you will have other buffs to your character as well!

Just to throw another build into the mix, this one only focused on getting S/L defense and pretty high regeneration - 694% with only one foe in range. This is one I myself plan on using when I actually get my Stone/WP leveled up !

  2. Just for those of us who are not THAT comfortable with speaking over vent yet, this is the bind that I use for the times I don't want to talk (Getting the "What do you want!?" voice sucks)
    Quote:
    /bind k team >>$target<<
When you hit this, you will shout out into team ">>[TARGET NAME]<<" just letting your target caller knowing that you are on-task and ready to fire.

    ----

The "zoom out all the way" macro is
    Quote:
    /macro dist camdist 120
It will force your camera back as far as possible allowing you to see what is happening. Coupled with having your camera slightly tilted upwards, you just increase your view.

I myself don't always use this, sometimes I find it is zoomed out too far and I'd prefer the mouse-scroll-out method.

    ---------

I will try and remember to shout out in PvPU whenever I am doing AE , but please: If you are not CLOSE to the level goal, attempt to join.. it'll be easier to kickball/participate if you have all your slots and have some form of enhancement in it (SOs work quite well up until you do start IOing)
  3. Just my say on your build..

Your build is by far different than what many people use for their farming character, you actually aimed for melee defense which is semi useless in ambush farms. You do have -12 KB protection which will be nice if you ever do TFs with this character (heck, I don't even have one -kb IO on my /FA and I extremely miss it.)

Suggestions for your build is to just aim for recharge. Recharge is all you need for a SS/FA , to get footstomp up every 5 seconds and to have permanent rage (double stacked is even better).

Seeing as how you have said you will be doing a Council farm mission and of course the regular front-loaded ambush AE missions, I would change your build quite abit.

Below is a build where I kept close to the same power picks you did, have them in the same level and even your slotting is similar.. I have increased your recharge by quite abit, enough for you to have footstomp up every 5 seconds and burn up every 6 (assuming the incarnate power you picked, is currently in your possession.) Hasten is up all the time, and overall this is plenty of recharge

I attempted to keep the -KB IOs in, but it appears I only shoved in 2 which is silly of me. The rule for -KB is 1 or 3, as 2 will cover as much as one will..
If you need -12, which I somewhat suggest .. remove the Numina : Heal from health and place it into Maneuvers. (=
    Enjoy!

... hmm its as if the search function is broken, but whatever. Its nicer to give help, and it gets easier each time
  4. Quote:
Also I am a little unsure of the differences in the two tier 4's that each Lore pet has.
Tier 4 Core pets gain +25% damage, and I believe become slightly sturdier (more of a scrapper/blaster take to this : if the enemy is dead, he can't hurt me.)

Tier 4 Radial Pets gain the Boss pet (so slightly more damage) and an untargettable buff pet, which will not die and of course will buff you for the full 5 minutes.

    Battle Orbs have a toggle +defense , which sadly they turn off and on. Roleplay it as the machinery isn't perfect yet, and the forcefield requires too much energy to keep up, resulting in shutting down because of over-heating .. or not, up to you (;
    -and a heal/mez recovery

    Seekers give fortitude.
    -and a heal/mez

I don't remember what the other pet is called, but it also gives some form of +def and a heal/mez

IDF are awesome pets, people just provide hate because they wish to be that uber guy who can solo things really quick. Yes they are energy melee, and yes that is resisted. But I don't believe the other pets have a [Whirling Hands] that hits 16 targets, or do they self-buff to 80% +damage (I haven't made other Lore pets yet, although with my 220 threads, and 180 astrals I probably could.)

Really, pick what suits your character.

    ----

Readeds that you picked Seers and are liking them, glad to hear it!
  5. Information, I assume, is gathered from one of the weekly developer ustreams.

I myself went IDF, and really like them. Yes it is energy damage, I have not noticed them performing stuns. Their melee damage is insane, I have seen them doing the exact same damage per attack as my brute (a stone/stone) has. Plus, Commander has a 16-target Whirling Hands. That's pretty awesome

If you feel like waiting, wait for the new pets. I dunno, having a squadron of Arachnos for an already mastermindy-feel character (assuming you are a Crabbermind, and have all those nice spiders) would be sort of cool conceptually.
  6. ohhh so that's what you meant by "there are floating 3s for barrier" or whatever similar thing you said

Strange, similar thing happened to my PC before the motherboard died out (not the GFX card). I would see the pattern of say a sword for the whole entire object.

    Pretty cool stuff though!
  7. So this is it. I have finally reached the world of those who invaded mine, and took everything from me. Well fine, not everything just my only companion: Nugget.

I remember it all like it was yesterday..
Day in and day out I was constantly forging my realm – The Plains of D’Arachi so it was called. It was to be beautiful in all regards, and only I was to enjoy it. It is not that I am selfish, it is that I do not trust anything but for myself.

Portal Corporation accidentally reached my world one fateful evening. I was relaxing, sleeping in between the trees I had just fashioned. Nugget was running around like he usually did, always up to no good. Then, Portal Corp. brought out their tools and were performing tests on MY work.

Luckily for me, they also found it beautiful. I could sense that they wanted it all, and would come back later.

I silently told Nugget to repel these invaders, and he did his best. Sadly, when he ran through their portal it closed behind him.

Enraged, I destroyed everything. I was alone, again.

I attempted to re-create their portal, through images Nugget sent me. Apparently in the time he was gone, he had become well respected in their world. With his help, I built my own portal.

I left my realm, and swarmed into there’s hoping that I could do what they did to me.
    Then He contacted me.

His power and strength commanded me. I thought I was the strongest being, but it was He.

Under His guidance, I too gained His strength. My abilities improved and I too would one day be like Him, although now that I think about it I was.

Sadly, the “Heroes” – super powered freaks, not knowing what they were really doing, constantly threatened my savior. When He was brought down, I was alone yet again.

Then one kind soul of the bunch found me. They thought I was just one of His monsters, but using their magic they found out so much more. Finally, they kindly asked me to forgive them.

    And I did.

Perhaps one day I will return to my world, I do miss the ability to forge. But honestly, I am not sure that I could survive on my own. I think I have become weak, maybe He will return and make me strong…
  8. o.O 5-slotting heals with DWounds (like on a pain), 4 slotting Shields with Reactives (like on an inv), taking defensive shields and slotting with defense sets and LotG+Rech (like on any character you're trying to soft-cap) is all "stealing" because someone else did it before you? Same with frankenslotting for Accuracy, Recharge, Endurance, Debuffs in a power that has little accuracy and chances are needs all of them?
    /em shrug

If my honesty isn't good enough for you, so be it.
  9. I suggest keeping with your Emp/Elec , if you still like it that is. If you build the character correctly, it could be quite amazing.
Like others have hinted on healing is probably not as grand as it used to be, or that well depended on but this does not mean it is still appreciated. Ignoring the fact people are all like "You said healing, you shall die!", the abilities of your Empathy character on not to be ignored.
Your two auras are amazing, so are your heals. Really it depends on what YOU as a player wish to play, if people don't like it they can suck it up.

Incarnate items are cool, and actually appeal to all character types. Your heals will be appreciated, let alone those awesome auras.
  10. Insane, then again there doesn't seem to be THAT many ways to softcap a /thermal and get good recharge.
    (=
  11. Yeah I'll go Cardiac, figure Endurance + Range is a good deal. Resistance I'm "Meh" on, being that I did ED cap the shields and such in both builds.
Don't know what the similarity is on the first build, or that you had a Rad/Therm o.O Thanks for input however, and glad you liked it! Seems frankenslotting is the way to be!

Okay, Cardiac seems the best way to go .. plus extra range is good.

I'll go with the first build, maybe switch around stuff as you have said to do.
I usually don't slot purples into toons, but F/T looks like purples might make it shine by having the debuffs up quite abit quicker!

Switching Blaze and Fire Blast's sets with eachother doesn't change much. But when teaming, I suppose thermal is quite busy with the shielding every 4 minutes and the 2 debuffs every 40 and a Blaze fired off would do more damage than a Fire Blast .. although during an AV fight I guess I could go Melt>Exhaust>Blaze>FB>Blaze and toss out Rain and Fireball if needed.

Rebuild with the new ideas and such, being ditch the -KB and move a slot from a toggle to an attack. Although i do already have both the AoEs 6 slotted, but that Recharge IO can be switched for Endurance IO save moar endurance.

Shiny stuff will come later on of course, probably quicker being that this will be my focus toon for the next while. Plus, because my other 50s are mostly "retired" I won't be spending any influence on them!

    ---

Going with first build, with Cardiac 'Core-line' tiers. Moved slot from Acrobatics to Fire Blast and added a Recharge IO there, switched the Recharge IOs in Fire Ball and Rain of Fire to Endurance IOs. +Stealth will go into sprint when I obtain one.
SS and SJ will probably just have a Run and Jump IO in them.
  12. Components.
Thus far we have had Shards, which were replaced by Threads (luckily with a Shard:Thread convesion), reasoning being that we were not supposed to have everything unlocked first day - for some people, they had all T3s on the third.

When we receive further incarnate stuff, will we have ANOTHER set of components that need to be built just to stop people from having the powers on the first day?

It has been said that Empyrean and Astral merits will be used for other stuff, so this sort of says to me: These merits will be earned through new trials.
We can downgrade these into Threads, so I suppose if we say get ITEM as our next component than these can probably be downgraded into ITEM as well.

If not, will ITEM be usable to make new Lore/Destiny/Judgement/Interface/Alpha stuff? Further making shards obsolete?
OR will they require BOTH threads and shards?

Just we have our Weekly Strike Target, we earn a Notice of the Well that is ONLY used for Alpha slotting. Why can't we opt to use Notices instead of the Very Rare / Rare pool drops from the trials?
Have a separate recipe list or something, that utilizes Notices and Threads, just so I don't end up with x amount of Notices doing nothing, just waiting to be made into Alphas that I will not use.

    ---

Yes I know this has probably been brought up before, but thread-necroing is frowned upon and my black magic is in the lacking.
  13. Thumb sideways.
It just encourages repetition of the same objective over and over and over.
Plus, the servers being down every so often because we are too awesome just makes me sad ): We need a new server that can handle this level of awesome.

The trials them self are fairly fun, they were hard at first but after earning the fairly useless +3 (useless because it is only active for the trial-length period) it just became extremely easy. Yes that points to, if you have +3 in regular content it will be run through easily aswell but that is why we have a difficulty scale of +1 - +4 , could it no even this out?

The new TFs are okay. The [Flames of Prometheus] temporary power earned through Kal sort of is a HAH in the face of the heroic Admiral. Even though the buff is minor, at least come 50 you can trade it in for a free Notice . Why doesn't the blueside TF have some form of this aswell?

Plus, if you leave the game for a period of two weeks.. you are out of the picture for learning the new content. People are using short-forms and speeding everything, and if you have no idea what to do.. you get sworn at and told you are a n00b for not following instructions when barely any were given. ::cough cough:: THAT game much?

Oh well, maybe when more stuff is brought into the picture it will change.
  14. I've experienced the same thing when firing Ion , it hits the same target multiple times. I'm wishing I wasn't laughing so hard after ONE Ion killed Black Swan (I fired it on her, and it ended up hitting her 9 times = instant death.)
This is using the Ion Total Core (Furthest left of T3s).

Ugh.. I can't decide if I want to upgrade Void to T4, I would if it still got knockback. Sadly it doesn't, so I think I'll upgrade Ion although it is hard getting the colors to match the Electrolyte Mitochondria's (concept reasons, either have Judgements being a strain of Stone based powers - Sandstorm or Ion being something of a gift from my toons original powersource) Darn you concept!

Can we make it a ... four hour long Synapse? Just so nobody ever runs them ever again? :3

This. I don't have a tank , but my brute (stone/stone) can usually out-taunt the tanks on the teams I play on (and sometimes survive longer too!) But when going for the badges, I hope you have other melee units which you can shuffle around aggro when you do get double ringed.

I suggest running some form of chat bind, that will automatically tell your team "TAKE THE AV!" (/bind numpad0 league/team/broadcast Take $target off my back, unless if you'd rather go belly-up!)
This way you do not need to worry about the AV running off.

Plus, if you are running for the "Master of.." badge.. your teammates probably have enough common sense to aim to keep the AV in their general spawn area.
  17. War-Nugget

    Victory IS down.

Because we are awesome. Cool things only happen to awesome people!
  18. I'd be up for doing this!

For reference to the map :
  19. Zamuel , just download Vent and listen to the conversations. It will help greatly in spiking and such, although you cannot speak .. if you bind say, K to >>$target<< your team will know you are on target.

I am sure we will go over screen layout, and some other binds at a later date.. but for now, I would say get vent just so you can listen in.
  20. I've never failed a Lambda because I cut-scene jack.. but I can see why you guys don't like it. You just have to be smart about where you are.

If you aggro ANY of the mobs coming out of the portals, Marauder is aggravated and will try and smash said player.

If you stand exactly where Marauder is, after the cutscene he teleports ahead where he is when he is gathering his cronies, if you attack him before he teleports you will of course aggro him there.

But, I think kicking a player because they feel like doing the tantrum/frustrated emote in the cut-scene is wrong, would that not be griefing said player? Such as someone who say.. kicks a player at the end of a TF when the AV has a sliver of health left? I don't think that would help the cause.. it would only piss of said kicked-player.

But again, I see the point:
If one person does it, everyone thinks they should to.

    Just play it smart.
  21. Void is broken ?
    I don't see rigged damage <.<
  22. I am so far liking them trials.

Favorite so far is the Lambda, like how it relies on temp powers that you have to get until of course most people are ready to try a Master of Lambda (although for some strange reason, it NEVER feels like we get all 10 temp powers as we always need to kill one of those containers).

BAF isn't bad, just I seriously dislike how it does not explain how Siege became a red warwork. If you do MJ's new arc you see Sieges old costume still (unless if they changed this when they launched i20), but it does explain why Siege could use Warwork missile launching technique on you.

Sadly most runs of BAF I have done have been 'farm runs' where people just kill reindeers for 40 minutes, yes we eventually kill them but during that time period I start to hate farming. It just isn't my thing, I have Demons Farm on that incarnate toon but at most I can only run it twice before getting bored, and I don't want to get bored of the trial because I don't have all 5 T4s yet, 2/5 of the way there.. and I need more Very Rares to drop. NAO!

Then again, people who aren't only incarnating one character like myself need to iXP and I do not and chances are if I just want to do "Speed" runs I would need to bulk up and run them myself..

When not leading, yes they seem extremely easy. But that just means good leading. Then again, I am +3 so this could be why I find it easier than most :3

I would say hold spots for 5 - 10 minutes, same length as a PUG-team when I run them. I base that time on how long it takes me to reboot and open CoH, zone in and stuff because I have an old computer.

... and when I get my [Void Partial Radial Judgement] with MAGNITUDE TEN KNOCKBACK (and -50% damage) I am spamming the crap out of it when people piss me off. Oh? You wanted those mobs.... ::blaaarrrrrgggghhhhh:: and they fly away. Muahahaahaa!
  23. Now.. don't be crashing our server, AGAIN. (Come on try and launch 50 Judgement powers all at once!!)
    Looking forward to this
