Oh trust me, I fully understand how the UAC works. I just don't like how their ideas of "more security" always translates to "bigger pain in the *** to use programs with more restricted features".
-
Quote:Not even upgrading the card would help? And if it would, any recommended cards I might wanna try? There it is.
Jumping to 4 GB RAM will help, though, nothing will help that oldish and underpowered graphics card you have. And it won't solve the problem of all the CPU cycles the other programs are stealing.
Also, for the programs, I checked the Start Up section of MSConfig and most of those programs I have disabled to start with windows from before (and they don't). About reinstalling windows, it's certainly more than easy to do so, it's just checking if I have all the software I want before I do it. Plus I was planning to get a new HDD eitherways (upgrade to SATA while at it since my motherboard supports it, or so I believe at least. Since it has all the appropriate wires and stuff) so a new windows installation was in order eitherways. However, I'm about 80% set on keeping Win XP because I just do not like Win Vista/7 at all (I have all available I just have to choose, lol). -
Quote:^ This. Slotting the recovery uniques early helps a LOT, so do the empowerment buffs.I usually slot perf shifter & miracle proc by L17/18 and slot the Numi proc at L27.
I also use the empowerment station buffs to help out in the early levels.
This is also good advice. 3% Defence might not sound like much but it does make a difference.
As for which to level it really is up to you. Personally I would take the FM/SD since he does a lot more damage than the Kat/Reg and when properly setted out will be extremely sturdy. Against All Odds will not only help you boost your damage, but it will also enable you to herd and act as a pseudo tank when/if needed which is always a nice plus. -
Quote:I have actually noticed something very similar to that effect. My new toons (running SOs and such) usually have (sometimes significantly) shorter zoning times than my fully kitted out 50ies. I don't have any real badgers, but for example my main has T4s/T3s in all incarantes and a butt load of temp powers and is fully IO'd and the such and he usually gets the worst zoning times. In fact, I can confidently say that all my IO'd out toons have the worst zoning times (with the window where I'm visibly on the screen for others but I'm not really -- like can't be targetted by buffs and the such). This shows to me that character load times are somehow related to how complex your character is and how much information the server has to transmit to your computer. I don't know that there's anyway we can get confirmation of that from the devs, but it could be something that we can test on our own to verify.
Hope this helps. -
Let me know if there's any more information I can provide that'll be of help.
Also, I'm not sure if it's obvious from the log or not, my CPU isn't actually a dual core. It's a single core that's set to act as a Dual Core with multi-threading technology or something. Sorry, lol. I'm not the biggest expert on Hardware.
EDIT: Should probably mention that all my drivers are up to date, even my network driver. -
Quote:Can you even install CoH on a different drive than your C drive? I never get the option to change the installation directory whenever I reinstall the game after reinstalling Windows or anything. And to be honest I wasn't too fond of the idea of manually changing the directory then editing the Registry to match the new directory since I had no idea if it will work or not.Just a side-thought, but I always try to put my game installations on a separate hard drive from the one Windows is installed on. This means the normal operations that get called on the OS drive will have less effect on your load times.
Of course, this isn't really an option if you're on a laptop, unless you have an eSATA port and a burning desire to run the game off an external hard drive.
And as was said previously, 2GB RAM should be enough to run the game smoothly, but it couldn't hurt anything to upgrade it if you have the means.
EDIT: Yes, I'm planning to upgrade, since buying a new computer isn't exactly an option ATM. I'm of the "If you're doing it, do it right" mentality. So if I'm buying a new computer I want it to be a drastic improvement or not gonna bother at all. I'm just not exactly sure WHAT I want to update. I know for sure I want a new harddrive since the one I have is too small. But not sure about the other pieces. -

I will, Zombie Man. But I can't do that for a couple more hours when I'm back home. Still at work right now. Thanks in advance.
Quote:I did so. The only thing that may be close to my problem is the Virtual Memory size allocation. I know I changed it recently but I can't really remember how much I set it at lol. I'll have to check when I get back home. You might also want to check out: Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines -
I like my SS/SD, he can farm rather decently. But I haven't bothered ever timing him or comparing against SS/FA or Elec/FA or whatever /FA flavored farming brute.
Mine is a cheap-ish build though. I have an "expensive" version planned for him for more recharge and a much better endo management, but haven't gotten around to that just yet. -
Simple question that I would be really grateful if I could get help with.
My computer is old, but I can play CoX on it on Performance settings usually rather very well. I have lag issues but nothing that's overly annoying. However, the one thing that has always annoyed me while playing: My zoning times. It takes me a LONG time to zone between areas (or from the character selection screen to a zone). I know regular deragging helps. And I run "Game Booster" and "Advanced System Care" while playing CoH and use their Turbo Mode to shut down a lot of not-so-gaming-related processes to free up CPU. But still, I was wondering:
What influences zoning times? What can I upgrade on my computer that might help me with this? Would updating my HDD to one with higher reading speed help? More RAM? Different graphics card? Better/Faster processor? Anything else? Some settings in the game itself?
This is really the one thing that I'm really wanting to fix. I can live with not-so-awesome graphics and random lag issues (Roofs on last mission on iTF, the new warehouse maps, sometimes on iTrials, sometimes just random lag spikes and rubber bands). But my zoning times have always annoyed the crap out of me (and sometimes my teammates as well, as I'm very often not only the last one on the map, but the last one by a considerable margin). I tried running on minimum settings before...and it helped, but honestly the game looks so crappy at minimum that I dare say it bugs me more than the long zoning times. -
If you've played many of the demon-themed games (Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, others I can't think of ATM). Pixies are often featured as Lightning wielding creatures with healing/support powers. From that I'd go Emp/Elec 'fender.
-
If they did would be damn awesome, especially with the server list merger. Though I doubt they'd do that without saying something...but then again, they did a lot of stuff without a hint of reference ever, so who knows.
-
I still think the whole thing is extremely not needed and utterly useless. Because as many have mentioned before. Most home use ISP services give dynamic IP addresses to their customers which makes this whole process rather pointless, and just extremely frustrating.
-
NCSoft Master Account and Store websites are the biggest pieces of garbage I have ever had the displeasure of using. Every single time I tried to purchase something from it I have had to open multiple tickets and keep trying for weeks to get the damn pack/purchase that I want.
-
Did they fix the costume pieces so they're color customizable?
-
I'm in no way an expert on this stuff. But the RAM usage value is pretty much the norm for me. And I have the 70% CPU usage spike quite often. Not always, but often enough.
-
Yeah but (to me) the respec has gone from being easy to being downright frustrating with the waiting times between spawns. 30 minutes to fight 10 waves of enemies is just purely annoying. It is the same reason I never do the "Save the panther x56" or whatever the hell that hero tip mission with the Malta ambushes and Frostfire pet.
-
I like Assault. I have it on most of my toons. If I can spare the power, Assault is one of my primary choices for that slot.
