  1. One issue I came across with my test build was that the Windows 7 installation DVD didn't want to install on the new partitioning format (I forget the name). It seems that Paragon utility defaulted to it and I wasn't paying attention. To get windows to run properly I had to wipe the drive again, not hard, but annoying. I'm kinda wondering if that functionaltiy is built into the SP1 build versions of 7.

I'm looking into slipstreaming a Windows 7 disc right now (like I did for my last laptop due to XP's original SATA limitation) to include SP1 and IE9. Any help there would be great too.

My SSD will be on the doorstep tomorrow and I've still gotta look into activating Trim and SATA hotswapping. I haven't successfully managed the latter as of yet even though the Mobo is configured accordingly, but since 7 was installed before the change what little I have read mentions that Windows only activates hotswap during installation.

Anything else I should look into/know about with Windows 7 and an SSD? Well, besides NOT defraging the drive. :-p

What everybody else said, but I emphasize NOT going this route! Unless you're doing your work on a touch screen device (and using that interface only), then you're going to really shoot yourself in the foot. Especially if you spend more than an hour with it, then it'll be a litteral expression. ;-)
  3. Ok, so I don't have All of my parts quite yet, but I have enough to consider it a fully functional rig that doesn't quite work for ultra play yet. Once the $$$ builds up and I can nab the GPU and extra fans, then I'll be complete! Here's the original build list.

I jumped ingame for a little bit and hung around PD for a graphics slider test. On the pre-Ultra settings I was getting about 30Fps with the builtin HD 4000 GPU. I allocated it 1Gb of my 16Gb of RAM and the mobo is somehow giving it another 768Mb so I'm assuming it had that much hiding somewhere on the chip? Nudging up to minimal Ultra halved the Fps, but movement was still fluid. Pushing my luck and going full Ultra the Fps dropped by half again and this time a marginal amount of movement lag existed. Something interesting about this was that I couldn't successfully alt/win-tab or win+D to the desktop. It did, however, drop the Fps to 5 because of my "-maxinactivefps 5" tag, but never left the game.

For the number crunchers, here's what the Windows Experience Index gave:

    Component Old PC New PC
    Processor 5.0 7.7
    RAM 5.0 7.8
    Graphics 4.7 6.6
    3D Graphics 4.5 6.6
Hard Drive 5.2 4.5 (using a slow 5400rpm mechanical until the SSD gets here)

That's it for now, the test envirionment is a clean Win7 SP1 install that didn't like it at first because my partitioning software had for some reason formatted the HDD in the advanced format. There's only the drivers and software provided on the original CDs and no security software active, thus this should be pretty RAW data.

I'll update as things progress so if it smells like a Necro, then it's probably just an update. ;-)

Shups, I'm focusing more on my new tower right now than reading/searching. Lots of things to check before RMA periods dry up. ;-p

There's "fly mode" and "stealth mode" and probably several other mutually-exclusive "modes" that I'm forgetting.

Note that design decisions are less likely to be changed than mechanical limitations overcome.
This makes the most sense to me.
  6. The only thing I've done/do that's close to PL'ing my own toon is that xp-sharing thing between a toon on my main account and my 2nd account. Granted, now that you can get EATS earlier I'm starting to think that's probably pointless.
  7. There's a base building forum/thread in here (I forget which sub-forum) as well as a BaseBuilders chanel ingame. Tip: When moving rooms around, switch to a larger plot size until you're done.
  8. Do yourself a favor and nab an appropriately sized laptop cooler.

    The resources, however, are finite.
Assuming that the personal lairs would be smaller than bases, take into account the number of single-user SGs, and I wonder how much the net server load would be overall?

Download for Android (it's not on Play, just a straight .apk you can side load)
Also, you can get it off Google Play now!
    *reads*
I do not think that means what you believe it to mean. ;-)

I've had an installation show 3.5Gb before, but like you said there's not a Major difference. Especially when you have to take into account the graphics memory. I'd simply skimmed the report if you didn't notice and missed the x86 part.

You should be able to get into the Live version of the game, but not into the Beta version unless you're paying the monthly sub.
  14. I don't think this has anything to do with your problem, but I did notice that your system drive is too full to keep windows happy. You're sitting at 3Gb of ram which is OK, but you may wanna consider going to atleast 4Gb if possible.

As for the sound, does it happen to correlate with Hasten activating? I have Hasten set to Auto (right click a power and it's Auto-fire) and if I forget to turn down the volume it can sound like an airplane just buzzed my head.

I also noticed that your sound drivers are a tad old, but it's possible that there aren't any newer ones as well considering the age of that hardware (from what I can tell atleast).
  15. I don't have any personal reference points for newer mobile chipsets, but overall I don't see you having issues. Worse case you can checkout the thread that talks about graphics settings and I'm sure you know how to do the whole "start at minimum and gradually step up" testing method. RL testing is where results happen!

I'd have to agree with this sentiment, but I also acknowledge that they are two completely different platforms and thus would require 2-3 times the effort to make 'everybody' happy.

From the looks of it though you've done an awesome job!

Have the browser remember user name and passwords. Click in the user name field, hit the down arrow and select the proper user name (should be only one), the password should autofill, hit enter.
  20. It could be, but kill your Steam related processes first and see what that does. Also, see about updating your Audio drivers if there are newer ones.

  22. If you haven't already, close and restart the launcher. It's possible as well that your drive is fragmented and the files the launcher uses to startup aren't being viewed properly. IE: try a defrag too.
  23. There's another thread here somewhere (I closed the tab so forget which one) and they're mentioning things like Security Certificate updating and such, but I got in fine using my CoX login info. Have you tried flushing your internet temps?
  24. I'm testing now, but this just came up:

    Migrate Your Game Accounts

It seems there's something going on with Aion and Lineage2.

Beyond that, let me in fine with my CoX login info.
