Quote:I'm recognizing a pattern here. And that it's 'anything can be villainous as long as you add the "waiting for your opportunity to grab power for yourself" tag at the end.'Going "that" route basically means that you were just playing along with the other members of the story, all the while waiting for your opportunity to grab power for yourself. I'd say that's pretty villainous.
Help the Shining Stars root out their traitor!.... While you wait for your opportunity to grab power for yourself.
Save the Terra Volta Reactor!.... While you wait for your opportunity to grab power for yourself.
Rescue Fusionette!.... While you wait for your opportunity to grab power for yourself.
I understand the Devs cant let villains choose everything they do, and do anything they want. But we can't wait around to grab power for ourselves forever. That's the difference between hero and villain content. Hero arcs actually have climaxes and payoffs that make you feel important. Villain arcs just have you wait around to grab power for yourself, and then beat up the guy that gets it first. Probably because all you did was sit around and wait for an opportunity to grab power for yourself. -
Quote:The problem is, you can't exactly make powersets "faster" because that ruins the balancing/performance of the set. And the devs already said they would rather make new powersets than animations for older ones. (unfortunately)No axes for Dual Blades.
Want axes for Dual Blades and faster/more acrobatic attack animation options for Battle Axe, War Mace and Broadsword.
I think the best you're going to get is axes for dual blades. Let's just hope whatever the new costume bundle is includes axes. -

Really? I'm kind of the opposite. I can't think of a single use for Bio Armor, save for making an Alex Mercer/Sil character.

Quote:Honestly, I'm not seeing the big issue here. Especially since there's already heroes that do inhuman things "for the greater good".Last, (and most likely, least on this entire subject )
Its been stated that some would love to see co-op content where the heroes are forced to do something despicable for the greater good Really? It has been stated again and again how villains have been forced into doing heroic-type stuff for the greater good, which you say is wrong and not fair So youd want the same thing to happen in the other direction? By that line of thinking, two wrongs somehow make things right? That sounds less like someone wanting to make the game better, and more like they would rather try and spread their unhappiness to others...
They're called vigilantes. Just like how all villains are written into the Rogue column for co-op content, writing some vigilante co-op content for heroes wouldn't be the end of the world.
I find it funny, especially with the "slight against your side" comment, that you acted so negatively towards content that may make your hero do something their uncomfortable with.
"Redside content not up to snuff? Deal with it! Villains have to do it anyways because its for the greater good! Doesn't matter if you don't want to. Just dont run it in character"
"What? Heroes might have to do something off-color ""For the greater good""?"
"WHY I NEVER, YOU JUST WANT TO SPREAD THE UNHAPPYNESS I HAVE NEVER HEARD THE STUPIDEST IDEA IN MY LIFE WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING I DONT WANT TO"
You know what, if they made co-op content that forced heroes to do something bad for "the greater good"
...
...
...
just dont run it in character
"Nobody is forcing anyone to play through, and/or acknowledge anything in this game" -
Quote:It sounds like we need a trial version of "Crisis on Infinite Earths", where the Good guys went to confront the Anti-Monitor, while the Bad Guys went back in time to try and prevent that dude on OA from seeing the Beginning of Time, because at that point, it didn't matter if the Villains killed half of OA: If they or the good guys failed, there'd be no future to mess up anyway.
But they still lost because of ego and incompetence. I would trollolol if the "villain" portion of a co-op trial became free-for-all PvP because each villain wants to be THE ONE to click the glowie/get the final shot/do whatever...
And just how many people would whine and cry and scream over THAT?
Oh, it gets better: The one villain left standing has to fight all the Heroes, because they wouldn't take too kindly to a single villain killing half the team...
I think that's part of the trouble with writing villain-themed co-op content: Just TEAMING with other villains normally is a sketchy enough proposition. Add heroes to the mix, and it gets messy.
As messy as that sounds, that would be perfect. But yeah, it wont happen.
It's gotten to a point where I just run all co-op content OOCly. There's no point worrying about how well villains are written anymore. It's not worth it. -
Good thing I don't have more than one page then!
But seriously. if I was forced to trim my character list in half, I would just save the ones I already have a history with, or whichever ones have a VV page (although that hasn't stopped me before, I need to go through and clean out my VV pages eventually)
It's not even a matter of "saving the 50's" as..I..only have....one. *shamed*
The only time that I sit on names is when I have a character/name planned out and are just waiting for the power set to be released. -
Quote:L-a-m-e. Now Fissure goes back to being a purely RP fluff power for me I guess.I'm pretty sure Arbiter Hawk meant to say that the change affects the same single target 40 foot ranged attacks in Dominator assault sets, where those sets contain those powers. I doubt *any* AoEs of any kind, cones or targeted AoEs, are getting *any* buffs as a part of this change, no matter what Arbiter Hawk may colloquially say to the contrary, unless he specifically and explicitly states so by power name.
Oh well, it was a nice dream to be able to hit something without already being on their toes. -

And have their friends tell all their friends!
And their friends tell their friends.
And their friends tell their friends.
And their friends tell their friends.
And their friends tell their friends.
And their friends tell their friends.
And if you have any friends that think they're an extra-planar dragon, have them tell all their extra-plantar dragon friends and their human counterparts and have them tell their friends. -
Quote:I discussed this a bit more in the Blaster forum thread, but the Snipe change should not require the +tohit in my opinion.
Why did Stalkers simply get an awesome new AS that alternates between slow and fast attack while Blaster's similar new mechanic is gated behind +tohit? This requirement, which will have many blaster slotting for +tohit, taking multiple new powers just to use the new Snipes, seems more punitive in the end.
Stalkers - Here's a great new AS, enjoy!
Blasters -Here's a great new Snipe, except you'll have to get some +tohit to use it! Better respec into Leadership and buy a Kismet!
Blasters are like the red-headed step-child of the AT's.
"Hey! You're in charge of ranged damage! Let me fill your secondary with melee attacks."
"Hey! You got your last and most powerful ability! Then let me make you jump right into the middle of dangerous mobs to use it, then drain your endurance."
"Hey! Here's something to make you more powerful! Only if you slot for it." -
Quote:Yeah, I never meant that fixing the nukes would be the only improvement, I just hoped at least it would be a part of it. Even if it was as simple as removing the crash to bring them up to the recent blaster sets.Changing the nukes would do jack for those that don't take nukes.
I just don't think powers that root you for any amount of time are all that impressive, soooooo fixing nukes while nice, wouldn't really do much.
Keep in mind for many blasters there are 31 levels in which they don't have nukes.
Whatever adjustments they make need to be made to the AT as a whole, not just one or two powers. I don't think the devs fixing nukes and snipes and saying "okay to get the full benefit of the AT improvements you also MUST now pick these to mandatory powers" would go over well with most of the blaster community.
With that said I hope that they one day DO look at nukes and fix them, especially since we have that little beast called JUDGEMENT.
Also snipes. -
Quote:I..don't...understand...Straight from the speedster's mouth:
So whatever changes are being made to Blasters in i24, it does not involve T9 nukes.
I can't wait to find out, and can only hope for the best.
"Okay, we know T9 nukes suck, the last two blaster set had crash-less nukes, and we're trying to improve our old gameplay decisions to make playing blasters more fun.
But change the old nukes to be better? AHAHAHAHA YEAH RIGHT." -

Whatever you choose, just make sure you can fit a judgement power in there somewhere so we don't have to re-figure it out 50 levels from now.
-
We wouldn't be great villains if we didn't keep you on your toes.

As an avid user of sites like Virtueverse (or Unionverse depending on your server tastes) I couldn't imagine the train wreck those sites would turn into if the naming system was changed.
-
Yeah, someone has already clarified this (thanks for that by the way) but I was indeed talking about just adding a "Left eye" "right eye" function similar to how there is already a left fist right fist option. That way if my character has an eyepatch, the eyepatch wont be on fire. And if my character has hair that covers one eye (although I think there's only one example of that, but its a really nice hairstyle) there wont be a floating fireball, or glow spot randomly on the hair.

Seismecca is ready to flir...errr beat up more heroes.
Oh who am I kidding they're the same thing for her. -
"You made Longbow Warden feel 435 points of bad for itself"
Yeeesss. As an Earth/Earth Dom I would love this so much. Something like an PBAOE Stone Spears, but with stone pillars, or larger rocks instead. That way Strong Guy characters can rationalize it as "punching the ground so hard rocks shot up" and Earth Controlly characters can rationalize it as..well...controlling earth. -
Quote:I really really hate it when they do that crap.
New on ABC Saturday mornings it's "The Avenger Babies!!!" or some similar crap like "The Teen Avengers!!!"
Shoot me now.
They would never do that. -
Quote:True, true. It doesn't work for everyone..True. But I try to imagine if my new character would, given his or her personality, actually name themselves that way, and 99% of the time the answer is a resounding No. That strategy is good for obtaining a unique name (sometimes), but not necessarily for obtaining a name that fits the look, concept, and personality of the character.
Although there are certainly some prefixes, or suffixes that emote a little more personality. Like the difference between Ms. and Madame, and girl and gal. But I think that's a discussion for an entirely different thread.
