It's the exact plot of the first Wolverine limited series.

Quote:I could see only the Alpha and Omega slots adding a level shift, but that's just a guess.Do we know for a fact -- and not just speculation -- that we're looking at characters getting those kinds of level shifts?
Just because Incarnate "levels" give extra powers and bonuses doesn't mean that they'll all have level shifts built in. And I don't recall any authoritative source where anyone has come out and said that every Incarnate ability has a level shift.
Just reality-checking here... -
All superheroes protect the status quo. If Batman rid Gotham of all crime, or Superman created world peace, there would be no story for next month's issue.

I've seen most of the movies now but Toy Story 3 is still my favourite. I just couldn't wait to see it again (and I did). I think The King's Speech will probably win, though.
Colin Firth is definitely getting best actor. Natalie Portman will probably win best actress, but I think Annette Benning was better.
I'm a little baffled by the praise for The Social Network. For me, the only real standout from that film was the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, which made the movie seem cooler and more interesting than it really was. -

That picture looks like some terrible sci-fi TV show.

I went with Cardiac as well. My passive resists weren't at the ED cap, so it basically adds another slot to each of them, plus a little extra to Temp Invulnerability and Unyielding. Not a huge difference, but I'm happy with it.

We have a tax like that in Canada as well, but I feel it's pretty pointless. I highly doubt much money is making it to the people who deserve it, and creating a tax to support companies with obsolete business models just seems like a bad idea.

With Fitness inherent now, it should be pretty easy to pick up Unstoppable. It's nice to have once in a while, and it doesn't need any extra slots. It's a good place to put the Steadfast Protection +Def IO (or the PvP one).

I'd make the Defense, Resistance and Heal Purples sets of three instead of six. They would look like this (using Defense as an example):
Defense/Reduce Endurance
Defense/Reduce Recharge
Defense (Superior) -

The mission architect system lent itself back to the old adventure construction set days where you would sit down and make adventures on your old Commodore 64 using the Bards Tale engine. -
I don't expect Issue 20 until around anniversary time, so it's nice to know there's something coming to fill that gap. We definitely need the next Alpha Slot tiers, it's kind of annoying being stuck at Uncommon.

Quote:It's 2011. You should automatically assume your work will be shared on the internet. If it's not, it's because no one likes it.Funny thing about this issue is that every single person arguing they should be allowed to download stuff for free would be screaming bloody murder if they were the writer who wasn't getting paid for the stuff they wrote/created.
The best thing you can do is give it to them direct from the source, your own website. That allows you to connect to the fans without any middlemen and maybe actually make some money. -
Good to see Survivor getting mentions, "Heroes Vs. Villains" was my favourite TV last year. I was worried about the format, and players coming back for a third time, but all the crazy twists and turns made it a great watch. Good job by Sandra to win again.
My favourite movie was probably Toy Story 3, but there's still a few late releases I need to see.
As for music, here's some of my picks for best album, in alphabetical order:
Arcade Fire, "The Suburbs"
The Black Keys, "Brothers"
Free Energy, "Free Energy"
Frightened Rabbit, "The Winter of Mixed Drinks"
Kanye West, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy"
Janelle Monáe, "The ArchAndroid"
Mumford & Sons, "Sigh No More"
Robyn, "Body Talk"
Titus Andronicus, "The Monitor"
Vampire Weekend, "Contra" -
I recently re-subbed and played over the holidays, and found I don't even need to play the market anymore. Just play the game, sell your drops, and Influence seems to rain from the sky.

Aw, that's sad news. And so soon after Leslie Nielsen, too.
-
One thing I think they did backwards was give KB resistance to Defense-based sets like Super Reflexes, but not Resistance-based sets like Fire and Dark Armor. It should actually be the other way around. Resist-based sets should have better status resistance because they get hit a lot more than a Defense-based set.

This barely counts as a remake since the original movie version was so terrible, but I think we'll see another Super Mario Bros. movie soon. A more faithful version, probably computer animated.

Quote:That's how it worked when they moved Taunt from a level 4 power to level 10 for all Tanks.I doubt this. After all not too long ago Fitness was a pool power changed to an inherent power without effecting those with the original Fitness at all until they respeced. They could change the powers around and not have current SS toons effected until they respec as well.
Powers can be swapped around, but I don't see any gain to switching Handclap and Hurl. Some people might like it, some people wouldn't, and a lot of people wouldn't care. -
Quote:I'm all for an interactive environment, picking stuff up and clobbering eachother with it, but I have a feeling those ideas are better left for a City of Heroes 2. The closest we can probably get with the current game engine is the often suggested "change Hurl to throwing objects like Propel" idea.Third, Super Strength is defined, not by just hitting things, but by other feats - by lifting, holding, carrying and by collateral damage. I'm sure you've all seen this, but if not watch it.

THIS is how Super Strength works in comics. Observe the titanic knockback. Massive environmental damage, dust and smoke. Lifting heavy objects to clobber each other with. Thus in my perfect world, the set would incorporate these things. There would be fewer attacks based on punching things, and more that make use of hitting things with objects (it would probably have to be chunks of ground in each case since we can't interact with the environment). I once posted a thread that included a new list of powers but it seems to have been purged when they changed the forums. I'll see if I can find it again.
An old idea I liked was applying extra knockback to "killing blows"- attacks that drop the target to zero Hit Points. It doesn't matter if they're knocked away when they're not getting back up, and it would look cool. Years ago the devs said this couldn't be implemented, but they've done a lot of surprising changes since then, so who knows. -
Rage doesn't bother me as much since we've been able to tone down the glow.

Everyone's a superhero, though. Anyone can be super strong, the Super Strength set just represents the "Hulk Smash" fighting style. You can be super strong with a Mace, you can be a super strong Martial Artist, you can even be a super strong Blaster.

Can I have your stuff?
...But seriously, great work on the game over the past six years. I'll definitely be interested in whatever your next project is. -
I'm pretty sure it was just supposed to be Scorsese-esque rather than a specific reference. Mostly Goodfellas, though.
After 30+ years of Hardware Wars, Mad magazine, Spaceballs, YouTube, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and a billion other parodies, I think Star Wars is almost officially squeezed dry of jokes. The new Family Guy and Robot Chicken even use the same "Palpatine hitting the windshield" joke.
