Like last time! JUST LIKE LAST TIME!

We all know how it'll go. But do it anyway.

I made a post awhile back about respecs and the 10-slot retention we currently have, suggesting different ways we could maybe bank more enhancements because of how pricey the IOs were getting.

I was completely and utterly lambasted from all sides. The basic principals of the arguments against the ideas ranged from:
    1) Respecs are a nice-to-have, and not necessary. Be glad for what we have.
    2) IOs are expensive and powerful, and there is some semblance of a gamble when using them because they can change at any time (bug/brought in-line, etc). Be glad for what we have.
    3) I believe there was another "reason" but honestly can't remember it, but I know there is something because it still bugs me.

Castle mentioned "maybe" people could look at the respec system, but his guesstimate was something like "not within a year's time".
  3. Heads up that I'm going to get this going by 830 PM. 15+ for XP, 13 merits, takes what, an hour at most? Haven't run this more than twice probably, and it's been a long *** time. Post/PM/meet at contact if interested. Will have my lovable tiny soldier.

Will probably attempt to drum up interest in Ice Mistral right afterwards. 35+ for XP, 26 merits, and about 90 min.

  7. RE: 30 - 35 % Defense......

This is the range I shoot for for most everything that has even a smidge of defense already in the build. I've seen literally no difference in the amount of incoming damage versus the 2 characters that I have with 45+% defense (both VEATS, with a separate Bane and Hunts build, all of which generally have 55+%) while fighting up to +1 level mobs, Bosses included. Once -Def attacks actually hit, things can go south of course. I don't know the drop off, but I know at +2, the 30 - 40% range starts to get hit more often, but it's not like you just lost whatever defense you had. It's plenty survivable, regardless of solo or teamed.

Anyway, by only aiming for this preferred range, I save oodles of trouble/inf/time and am still able to mow through whatever I want, because I have the other bonuses that I want at a good level. For the few guys I run solo just for inf/drops, I use -1 to +1 level and usually 5 to 6 man spawns with ease, keeping in mind I'm trying to maximize my time spent/reward chance at what I consider an acceptable level. Characters that can kill faster get a different/higher mission setting, but I don't recall any that rely on defense to live.

As for BotZ, I think it was needed, though I'm not sure why they immediately went to half-stats, though that kind of is status quo for how the Devs have always handeled things here *shrug* As long as the crafting requirements go down, I see no problem with the changes and it goes back to being in-line with the majority of things. With the presumed lower price/demand changes that will hit the market, these will actually be more worthwhile for me in the end, I think.

IIRC, CoV was Issue 6. (I always associated it with Issue 7 for some reason though) GR will be 18.

I made a post about Staves a few months ago of how I'd like the set to break down. Mine was more TMNT arcade-style as I thought that would best fit in with this system. If it's even half of what I can picture, these bastiches are gonna keep me around for another god damn 6 months
  9. As long as you picked an obnoxious color, like you're ought to do, I'm ok with that.

It had to be done initially, if I understand correctly. A retroactive change to unique status now would not effect any already-slotted sets; those sets would retain each one already slotted unless they tried to respec again. Essentially having no effect on their goal.

When they were first introduced, I was sure they were meant to be uniques and it was going to be a late-beta type of change, taking into consideration their level range and crafting components. *shrug*

The only thing with these changes that I think should happen are changes to the crafting requirements. As for merit purchasing, I've never bought an IO through merits. I just don't think it's worth it in general, so can't really say I care if the merit costs for these change as well.
  11. This was made public?

NM, found a link to Castle's post. Didn't show up in Dev Digest when I looked. Go figure.

I have an opinion. But it's more about the people who say "this is horrible because of my time/effort/hard work...in a game" and to a lesser extent for the people who say "this doesn't effect me because....".

Especially for minor (this is nothing compared to ED/GDN/Purple patch), yet obvious "exploitations" of a given game mechanic.
  12. Thanks for the teams -

    1) Hor sucks
    x) Numina is the 2nd worst TF in the game; if it was as long as Doc Q, it'd be tied for 1st. Weird, boring, weak level spawns. Uninteresting grey defeats. Spruce that bad boy up, and more people might do it.
Ö) They need to fix Eden; screw the people who ruined it's merits. And fix the stupid level-start bug

Khan was interesting. Our buff/debuff were 2 kins (troller and defender), and a FF troller who doesn't know what to take in the FF powerset. But still pulled it off in just under an hour.
  13. Ugh, I hate when people do this, but......I'd be interested, I just can't do that time
  14. Heads up that I'm gonna try to get this ran for my defender. Post, /tell, or meet at contact if interested. 35+ for XP. Takes about an hour....barring any god damn zombie invasions in Faultline during the Vahz defeat; I've had that happen way more than can be construed as coincedental.

I also feel like blastering so will probably try for a Khan afterward.

I did not use the word noobs. Actually, that "quote" isn't anything near the truth.
  16. Dear god.

I can be a maybe for that time.

  20. Honoree wasn't really a problem damage-wise (though he did pop me for 1800ish damage at one point), it's just that he used his Unstoppable 3 times I think? Was slow going; we brought out pets (which decided to take out 2 generators on their own which we weren't really near) just to help get enough damage going before he could use his sissy power over and over and over.....
  21. I think I died less than the gimpy Ice tank at least

DA is stupid for a Tank. Was kind of stupid for a Brute too. With no "god mode" to fall back on, no way to +HP, a heal that costs a ridiculous amount regardless of how many targets it hits, and no real mitigation against Bosses/AVs, I'll go ahead and say that it's the weakest set there is. In a team with support/buff/debuff, it can run around and aggro however many you want, but I can do that on any AT in the same set up.

Change the heal to cost some end per mob, and give it some kind of +HP or +regen, and it can start to make sense for such lousy damage resistance and it's parlor tricks.

    /e kicks DA

also: raise it's god damn energy resists.

Was you and you know it. I lasted just long enough, while being -100% regen'd, no endurance, and terrorized to enjoy your pitiful excuse for tanking.

We "lost" two right before taking on the Nictus, so we just ranged that and the auto-damage @#$@# one with what we could. I wasn't interested in trying to outsmart the AI with our numbers down.....and having Shamster on the team. FYI as he "learned", the holy shotgun shell has a short range. Go figure.

We dog piled Rommy and the pet Nictus with other stuff and it was fine. Overall, the TF wasn't smooth, but then again, we did separate quite a bit. And one of the two lessers that we "lost" at the end went out of their way to grief the cyst mission. They would have been kicked a little bit later at a more opportune time (read: more entertaining to me), but *someone* facilitated my decision.

Scoots, they were both from a global channel and they both asked me to join. Unfortunately, I did have others asking that I would have gladly replaced them with if I had known.

Curious how a tanker-version of that would go.
