I'm not going to lie...I did not search this.
Has it been said?
Do we have an idea? -

I have never cared about CoV.
With my attention fading away from CoH...Going Rogue has renewed my CoX interest.
The ability to finally use the CoV ATs as hero ATs is going to make me play this game forever.
The CoV AT that sticks out the most for my playstyle is Brutes.
(as you can see from my other posts...being able to use super strength with a high damaging AT is the biggest draw)
My question is this...are Brutes as fun to play as the look on paper?
On paper they look like beasts...Scrapper level survivability (actually more survivability than scraps) and potentially more damage. That seems nasty.
Is it really that "fun"?
Once Going Rogue comes out...if the Brute and the Scrapper have the same powersets...what would make you be a Scrapper?
I understand that Scrappers have higher damage from the start...but from what I have read it's not that hard to keep your Fury bar up to scrapper level damage. -
How much Fury is needed to be on par with Scrapper damage?
-
Quote:I know claws/...at least on a scrapper...is badass.Found the linky. Congratulations.
I imagine you'll find brutes to be a lot less painful to solo. I also think you may find soloing AV's on a claws/??? brute a lot more enjoyable than a SS, as you won't have to deal with rage crashes, and it will also be a lot more endurance efficient.
My reason for SS/ is because my only main is WP/SS and has been my most played since WP came out.
Creating the SS/WP Brute is strictly to play the same exact character with more damage output...so it's less painful to solo...the potential to solo more AVs...and not "needing" to be lead aggro holder for teams. -
I have no problem letting someone with better aggro management lead...especially with the Brutes ability to play as the "scrapper".
I'm starting to think that Brutes are the perfect AT for how I "want" to play. -
Quote:It took me clost to 30 mins.Full fury should be the least of your concern for an AV fight. If you have a decently quick attack chain, you can sustain full fury (around 90% fury) without any incoming attacks. I would expect at the worst case scenario, you would be at full fury in about a minute. Actually, I guess the worst case scenario is dead and needing to hosp.
How long did it take to kill Chimera? I don't read much about tanks soloing AV's like scrappers, so I'm a bit curious with the details. It's less about doubt and more about curiousity.
I posted about it with screenshots in the Tanker forums. -
Another question...what will the indication that I "switched sides" be?
Just the fact that I'm a Brute?
Conceptually I would be playing this character as if they have been good the whole time. -
Quote:Yeah I understand that...I've played my Tank so long that it going to be nice to have Super Strength but not "need" to be the lead aggro holder.Brutes are plenty survivable with willpower. With proper inspiration management you'll never die.
However if you plan on skipping taunt, you should know that willpower is not great (comparatively) at keeping aggro.
I figure RttC and Footstomp will do the trick good enough for when I "need" to step in and "hold aggro". -
Quote:Yes, I "killed" the AV...no temps no insps.I wasn't aware that tanks could put out the DPS necessary to overcome an AV's regen. By soloing do you mean you actually killed an AV? How long did it take?
In any case, you'll find that you will have different goals on a brute, as a WP tank will have a significant edge in survivability over a WP brute. To begin with, the higher HP pool means that WP tanks have a higher base regen than a brute. Then the higher base resistances and defenses of tanks will mean that they take less damage.
Likely, a WP brute is going go need to herd up additional minions in the area to increase the regen rate to survive the AV onslought. It may also be that you need to build your SS/WP for defense over recharge, since you need to avoid getting consistently hit.
In AV fights...does Fury get capped quickly? -
I understand that the Tank is primarily defensive while the Brute is primarily offensive.
I'm planning to re-create my main WP/SS Tank as a SS/WP Brute.
I'm hoping I can play this character basically the same way...always leading the team...except I will not take taunt.
I'm wondering if Fury is enough to keep my upright since I will not have as much defense as a Tank.
Basically...how much more often do Brutes die compared to Tanks? -
Fury seems extremely fun.
How fast can it be built? Solo? Team?
I understand that getting hit builds fury also.
If I was "leading" the team...taking the alpha...would fury be built up within the first group? -
I have soloed Chimera on my WP/SS Tank so I know this is possible.
Has anyone built a SS/WP Brute for AV soloing? -
I have never played villains because I would just rather be a hero.
I have always wanted to try a Brute because of the fury machanic but unfortunately it's only for villains.
My question is...do I have to wait for GR to come out before I can create a villain and then bring him blue side...or can I create and start playing the Brute right now and switch him when GR comes out? -
Quote:Unfortunately...what they are doing with Martial Arts make's it seem less likely that Scrappers will get Super Strength.I'm sure there are lots of sets that people WANT ported, but super strength is probably the at the top of the list among iconic 'super powers' and fits in with scrappers as much or more as any other power set. I mean, people WANT scrappers to have pistols, lol.
Crippling Axe Kick and Haymaker have the same exact animation. -
-
I would keep Body Mastery. Conserve Power and Physical Perfection are great for /SR.

Quote:I can see what your saying but I treat that the same way I treat a self-rez. Even more so since your a Tank, you should be the one preventing team-wipes...not vengeance.Leadership wasn't a concept, I just wanted Vengence for the incredible buff it gives. As much "you plan on death = bad" philosophy gets thrown around, squishies and scrappers will die. Why not have a killparty after?
I don't take the self-rez because I would rather pick a power that helps me stay alive...making the self-rez useless.
I wouldn't take vengeance because I would rather pick a power that helps me keep the team alive...making vengeance useless. -
Quote:Why Vengeance?First, what's the deal with no WP/Elec posts? The combo has even been suggested recently and everything. I'm actually making a melee version of a blaster I have, though he's elec^3.
So, WP primary. I want everything but the rez. Secondary, I want everything but Clap.
I need Stamina [even with QR] and want Vengence and Weave, plus Salt Crystals.
I'm two powers over.
I made a build w no taunt and no build-up. I feel I should take taunt as I've only been good at holding aggro as a TAoE squishy. With WP's lack of aura, I'd be hitting taunt as a melee before I get Chain. Losing Build-Up, being from a blaster background, just hurts.
I'm not sure I could aim the cone of Ladder correctly w the enemy so close either.
Ideas?
I'll work out the order later.
Thanks.
Being a Tank you should not want your team to die. -
You two realize they are probably talking about Elecrtical Melee?
DM/SR with superspeed would be the fastest looking scrapper in my opinion.
With Shadow Punch and Smite having quick activation times and Shadow Mauls animation.
MA/WP could look just as fast but you would have to use Flurry which is a terrible power to take. -
Boxing does 3.5 more unenhanced level 50 damage but Jab recharged .5s faster and has a lower endurance cost.
