Quote:...but your implying that they only played the game that long just for that one Vet reward...which I can guarantee they did not do.get past the build thing and think this out man. do you really want to piss off a lot of players who may quit do to the fact that they paid 5 years worth of sub fees to get that cool power because you want to be able to purchase the power for $10? that will kill the game. what is in place now does not kill the game. please, go search purchasable vet powers and see why these types of ideas are shot down.
hey look, ad even did the work for you... have fun reading.
I'm going to let it go because obviously I'm pissing a lot of people off. -
I understand what everyone is saying and I will let it go.
It's just unfortunate that I didn't hear about this game when it first came out, so then I could have got or at least be closer to getting the 60 Month badge. Unfortunately I will probably never have the chance to get it. -
This is the one Vet Reward that can change actual builds.
All the other rewards are just additions to your build. This reward changes your actual build. -

This is not a Doom post I swear...this is purely hypothetical...
I have the 30 month badge right now.
What if this game doesn't last 2+ more years? Then I never even get a chance for this.
...or...what about those who just joined this game...what if this game doesn't last 5 more years? Then they never even get a chance for this.
Making it available for purchase gives everyone a chance to have it...and it gets the devs more cash. -
-
Yeah, I know what your saying Aett_Thorn...but then again...it's your choice if you want to buy the "Power Pack"...you can wait till 60 months to get it for free or you can pay for it now.
Snow Globe: It's not the fact of getting Flight at level 6 that makes the 60 Month Vet Reward extremely useful...it's the fact that you do not need to take any prerequisite powers to get it.
Instead of having a build with Hover or Air Superiority in order to get Flight...you can have a build with Flight and you can get something other than Hover or Air Superiority. -
I suggest that they let other players (those who have not played the game for 60 months) be able to buy a "Power Pack" that allows you to access the Flight, Superspeed, Teleport, and Superleap Power Pools at level 6 without having to take a tier 1 or 2 power in that pool.
That way, those who have the 60 Month Vet badge, do not have to pay for this...but those who do not have the 60 Month Vet badge will have to pay for this feature. Everybody wins. -
Quote:Ok, so in game-lore...in order to be a Hero Brute that is from this earth, you have to start out as a Villain. The only way to start out as a Hero Brute is to be from a different dimension...correct?they already stated that if you start outside of praetoria you will have to start as a hero or villain depending on your AT
if you start in praetoria then you can choose to go to heros or villains
as for the details on if this will be lvl related (like lvl 5 minimum to change sides or leave praetoria), we havent gotten that much info yet as to how everything will work, but they have stated that if you want to start as a brute you will have to start as a villain if you dont start in praetoria. -
Quote:Oh alright...I must have misunderstood Going Rogue. Then you would simply start out in Praetoria and do heroic things. You would never be classified as a Villain. Then, at level 20, you decide you want to become a Hero and go to Paragon City.
I thought that, in order to be a Hero Brute, you have to start out at a Villain Brute and then do some story arc that makes you a hero. -
Is there any reason as to why they (the devs) won't proliferate the ATs between Hero and Villains?
I think that all the AT's, excluding the Epic AT's, should be available to both sides.
You could still have the Hero-Vigilante-Villain-Rogue-Hero side switching that comes with Going Rogue.
Example: I want to play a Brute, but I do not want to be a villain at all. I want to start out as a Hero. -

So, I'm in Atlas and I take the base portal to my SG base. I log out. When I log back in, it logs me into Atlas.
Why can't we log into our SG bases? -
Some people play Tanks just to be the most unkillable on the team...while others play Tanks to actually protect the team.
Some Tanks have great taunt auras...while some other Tanks do not.
I personally would never go without Taunt for too long...I usually always grab it at level 22...but then again, I'm a Willpower Tank...that actually wants to protect the team. -
Quote:Very good points.I don't think it's a bad idea.
I don't think it's a good idea, either.
I just don't really have that much of an opinion on the matter. If pressed for an opinion I'd say;
"No. don't spend any more Dev-Time right now creating more animations for natural power users. Between Dual Blades, Willpower, the new animations for Martial Arts and Super Strength, the new NoFX settings for Willpower, Super Reflexes, and Invulnerability, Dual Pistols, Shield Defense, and the new sword models introduced in the Ninja Booster I think Natural heroes have received enough attention for the moment and I would vastly prefer to see new Non-Weapon oriented powersets. Powersets designed to be used by the other origins."
Yes we've gotten Pain Domination and we're about to get Demon summoning, but that's 4 sets (DB, DP, WP, and shields) to two in the past 6 issues! The last time we had any new powersets before that it was Electric Melee and Defense for Brutes. That was in issue 7 and was accompanied by the Thugs powerset which offers itself nicely to Natural villain masterminds.

That's why I suggest using the Brawl animation. They would just have to add in the FX. Then again, I'm completely ignorant to the work needed to make this happen. So, I think it would be an easy task...but I have no idea. -
Seriously though, Steampunkette...why do you think this would be such a bad idea?

Quote:What are you talking about...and how does my argument fail?Hate to say this... But your argument fails.
You see, he offered his opinion on the matter, not a Dev-Confirmed rule set in fact... But an opinion. Key point being his final sentence.
People didn't respond to this thread because they didn't think it needed one.
-Rachel-
I know (s)he offered their opinion...but their opinion was based on something that was already ruled out within the set.
The poster said he wouldn't like the Brawl animation as an alternate because it would make the set too street fighter-like...so I commented on how the set already has the alternate punch animation for CaK which is a much more, street fighter-like punch.
Edit: Sharker Quint: When I said "your argument fails", I was not trying to come across as d!ck or anything else...I was simply stating something and those were the words I used. If I offended you, I do apologize. -
Quote:Your argument fails because of the alternate animation for crippling axe kick. It's the same alternate animation that Haymaker gets in the Super Strength set. It's a punch that anyone could see coming from a mile away. If that's not vintage street fighting then I don't know what is.i know this is going to sound bad, but maybe because with the alternate animations there are already enough punches in the set without making it look like a street fighting set. martial arts isn't all about punching. and when i think of martial arts, i think of high flying kicking arm blocking fun.
The devs intentions ( I will have to find the post from BaB on this) were to give players the ability to create a MMA steet fighter type character.
It's obvious that the Brawl animation is not new...but again...having an alternate animation is better than not having one at all, right? -
If nothing else, at least leave a response as to why you wouldn't want this.
-
What about a Time Control defensive set...for Scrappers and Stalkers.
Basically a set that relies on slows...maybe add some defense as well.
Something like a slow aura...slow click powers...
Just came to me...doesn't seem too bad...will have to flesh it out obviously...but what are your thoughts?
Edit: The more I think about it, the more I think it would be too OP'd for teaming. -
I posted this in the suggestions forum a couple times now.
It seems that many people do not care about this suggestion and I would like to know why.
I suggest they use the Brawl animation for the alternate animation of Thunder Kick.
Reason for this:
More punching.
They both have the same activation time.
The Brawl animation is used in other powersets (Shadow Punch, Energy Punch, Charged Brawl, Stone Fist).
Finally...having the Brawl animation as an alternate animation to Thunder Kick is better than not having an alternate at all.
If you can get on board with this, I ask you to please comment on my post in the suggestion forum. I'm not going to say this would be an easy addition for the devs...but I think it would go along way in being able to build a Martial Arts scrapper that just punches. -
I have brought this up before and I will bring it up again...

I know I'll miss footstomp...and Rage for that matter...but I'm hoping Dragon's Tail will help me through it.

Well my plan is to "re-create", if you will, my WP/SS Tank into a character that I have fun soloing.
In order for solo tanking to be challenging...challenging in the sense that if you just stand there, you could die...I have to move up my equivalent level, which makes my damage seem horribly low.
Basically what I want to know is this: MA/WP Scrap without Focus Chi compared to WP/SS Tank...in terms of damage.
