Just a quick note saying 'thanks!' for your help and advice. Turns out the culprit was indeed the video card. I upgraded it today to a GTX 260 and it looks like it fixed the problem. Good morning.

Texas Justice, I went ahead and completely uninstalled the Precision application but I still have the same problem. As a matter of fact as soon as I log into the game the monitor goes black and I get the "No signal input. Check video cable" message. Regarding the monitor I'm running the game on only one.

Is it possible that there could be an issue with my card that only occurs with OpenGL applications? I ask this because I was thinking of eventually upgrading my card and was wondering that a better card might solve the problem.

Texas, thank you for explaining why I'm only having problems with City of Heroes and not Age of Conan and Star Trek Online. The Steam application is running in the background so I will turn that off. I am not overclocking my card with the EVGA Precision, only increasing the fan rate on the card. I will go ahead and turn off the programs in Startup that you suggested to see if that fixes the problem.

Good evening, all.

I'm hoping someone out there can help me with a tech issue that frankly has me baffled. I have a NVidia GeForce 9600GT from EVGA and for some reason the card randomly shuts off whenever I play (and only play) City of Heroes. I have played both Age of Conan and Star Trek Online for hours and have never had any issues with the card shutting off.

I submitted an issue report about this to NCSoft's Tech Support and after updating the drivers, cleaning the card, upgrading the CPU fan and even moving the graphics sliders down to 'minimum' I am still experiencing the same trouble, sometimes mere seconds after logging into the game. I have a EVGA NVidia 9600 GT and the monitor screen randomly turns off but pc continues to run, forcing me to do a hard boot. Updated drivers - everything seemed to work at first (managed to complete a mission) but after teaming up with a friend and starting to do a mission the screen went black again - another hard boot. Thought it might be a heating issue but this is not the case - can play Star Trek Online and Age of Conan with no problems at all. Have even moved graphics slider to "minimum" but monitor still goes off (hard boot, part III). I have a support ticket submitted for this but mystified on why CoH is the only game I'm having issues with.

As do I, Dispari. I've been hoping that titles would become more customizable but it hasn't happened yet. I figured it would be better to get it as a reward than to not get it at all. Another option would be to pay influence and/or prestige for the privilege to choose your own title, but I'd be afraid that the cost would be outrageous to do so.

Didn't see it listed anywhere else so sent it as a in-game feedback suggestion this morning. How about for the 63-month veteran reward you can choose 2 titles from ANY origin name list? For the longest time I wanted to have the 'Mysterious' title for my Dk/Dk Magic Defender but unfortunately that title is only available for Natural heroes. This way you would be able to choose more suitable titles for your heroes and villains and not be constrained by the choices only available for your origin.

Sounds like a very painstaking task. I only hope NCSoft learned a valuable lesson from this the next time a booster goes live on the store and not enough servers to handle the load.

I mean honestly...the Titanic on her maiden voyage had a better success rate.

Real disappointed that after 6 hours the NCSoft store is still timing out on account management. On the plus side, nice to see the game can still generate this amount of interest 5 years in!

The bottom line is that the changes to scrappers hurt. A lot.

My scrapper is Martial Arts / Regeneration. He now hits less and burns more endurance doing so.

The patch has effectively made the MA - Regen build a lose / lose situation. I hope that a re-examination is in order and some sort of compromise is made. If the previous thought was that scrappers were broken, they're even worse off now.
