Thanks for the updated build. I just hit 46 so I should probably start acquiring some of the goodies.

The Fire/Kin solo build I'm using. Soft-capped Smashing/lethal. Cost about 140m to slot out before the LotG sets, I haven't grabbed those but am putting in bids. Between Flashfires and Fissures, a lot of stuff is gonna be stunned, Fire Cages immobilizes for a sort of pseudohold.
If you're fighting minions and lieutenants, nothing will touch you. Fighting bosses, well. They probably still won't touch you. Hotfeet + Fissures + Fire Cages does most of the damage (I'm tossing about 220 damage with containment on Fissures, for example, which recharges in this build every 6.8 seconds). Things die really fast. Really, really fast. Absolutely slaughters Cimerorans, I can tank in the ITF except against the Nictus (where I can pop a couple of purples and tank them anyway).
Will give you all the money you ever need for the investment of 140m up front and an eventual ~180-200m if you really want that extra few 7.5% global recharge.

Would love to see a build that can do that for ~150 million.

Seconded. -
Excellent guide. As a recently returned player, it holds a lot of value. And it makes me want to try an Ill/Rad, so its successful there too. Thanks for taking the time.

Alright, I'll try that when I get home. Thank you for the quick response.

Definitely a newb question here, so forgive me. I played way back in the day (pre issue 5 I believe) for a while and then stopped. Just started up again recently and noticed I have the 12 month veteran badge. Looking on the website says that I should be getting a respec and a choice of weapons on new alts but I'm not seeing the option to pick one of the weapons during character creation, nor am I seeing them shown in the powers tab. I'm not terribly interested in the respec at the moment since I'm starting fresh, but it would be nice to know how to use that too. Can someone enlighten the not so new person?
And yes, I recognize the irony of asking for help with veteran rewards. -
So, a slight update for anyone who might have been going through the same thing I did. I'm now up to 15 and Picking up Hot Feet at 8 made things a whole lot better. I still wish I had grabbed Ring of Fire at some point earlier, but I'm kind of locked into getting three fitness powers through Stamina at 16, 18, and 20. So it will have to wait till after that if I end up getting it at all.
Things are still pretty slow but at least I can take on groups of 4 whites and a yellow now without burning through inspirations. I end up not using a lot of my powers due to Hot Feet being such an endurance hog, but with opening with Fire Cages, Char, and Hot Feet, and the very occasional use of Siphon Power and Transfusion, I'm managing to finish battles while still vertical. I will say that the potential I can see in the power set has me drooling for the time when I'll have the endurance to use things less sparingly.
One more question. Are the lower level IO's (level 15 or 20) worth buying if I don't have much in the way of influence (less than 70k at this point I think). They're clearly much better than the training ones, but would it be better to save up and get them later? Or should I build what I can as often as possible?
Thanks again for the replies, and if anyone has any advice for the late teens and 20's I'd be appreciative. -
Thanks for the replies. I suppose I'll pick up Ring of Fire when I get a chance then.

I'm a returning player. I played through issue 4 I think, but never played a controller. Now I'm back. Things have changed a lot, but it seems to be for the better with the exception of how long it takes to get anything done. But then, I suppose it was always a little bit like that.
I've read most of the first dozen or so pages in the forums and haven't been able to find much advice for new folk like me (or folk so old they might as well be new). All kinds of farming builds, or level 50 I/O heavy builds, but nothing that would ease the pain of the first 32 levels (that seems to be the consensus of when things get better...I obviously don't know from experience). Is there a leveling strategy that works better that I could re-spec out of once I picked up the powers in the 30s that make things gell? Or should I just slog through the low levels using a lvl 50 build as a guide?
I'm only level 7 at this point (its only been a couple of days) so for a more specific question, is Ring of Fire worth picking up at lower levels? I can see that once you get more powerful immobilizes and attacks that a single target version would be extraneous, which is probably why none of the builds I've seen incorporate it. But is it useful at low levels as a damage attack?
Part of the problem is I seem to be using Brawl an awful lot, because it recharges quickly and does more damage than a lot of other things I have and it doesn't use much End. The fact that I'm using it so much makes me think I'm doing it wrong though. Plus, things are pretty slow going. I'm sure a lot of it is that I'm still knocking the rust off, but really...Brawl as a heavily used power? Is this what I'm reduced to until I spend a month of heavy gameplay?
Any advice/suggestions you all have would be greatly appreciated.
