I'm duoing with my friend as a Bots/Pain MM and we're basically unkillable at this point. The Protector Bot shields + Maneuvers + World of Pain, combined with all of our healing, makes us ridiculously durable.

Death is the best debuff/control there is.

In the meanwhile, though, one less thing attempting to cream my butter is extremely beneficial to survival. -

BS shield I'm guessing?

I can't really think of any other way to get capped S/L, at least with permadom as well. -
[ QUOTE ]
If you're new to Doms, don't take Mind as it plays quite a bit differently from every other Dom primary (it is a solid primary, though).
[/ QUOTE ]
If he's mainly just soloing, I'd say Mind's an excellent fit. I do tend to feel rather neutered on teams, though, because while Terrify is a pretty cool power, I always feel jealous when another Dominator with Ice Slick or Earthquake pops on the team and proceeds to completely trivialize everything. -
I haven't been following it much, but was there a reason given for not allowing us to custom pick more powers for, say, minions and such? Like, say I wanted to give my minion Transference and make it like a Sapper but not give it a bunch of other baggage. Was there concerns over farming, or what?
-
Plant is good solo and is also a bit better for teaming later on (thanks to Seeds of Confusion). Mind is probably the premier soloing set. /Fire and /Elec are both good secondaries, with Fire boasting some great single-target and AoE damage, and Elec bringing some incredibly high single-target damage to the table.

'Regular' farming does NOT EQUAL exploit or exploit farming.
[/ QUOTE ]
What I'm having a real problem with is that we don't have any clear-cut definition of what an exploit is, aside from some vague hand waving about it. The risk vs. reward argument is easy enough to understand, and it's easy to identify some exploits, in that case (the chicken tug farms, for instance), but what about beyond that? If people make a mission filled with lieutenants and bosses, is that exploiting? What about using things that give slightly more EXP, like Freakshow? Is a big map filled with all of the Archvillains okay? I'm heading into a lot of teams worried at this point on my Dominator because I have no idea what "exploit" means in this instance and the only real teams to speak of villain-side (at least on Virtue) are the ones doing AE. -

Aid Self + PFF = godmode, the survivability is amazing.

Plus you get access to the always-cool Poisonous Ray, which has singlehandedly made my level 41 Dominator a blast to play again. -

qft, most players just want to punch things in the face. If they wan't massive depth it is available in far better places.
but punchasizing things in the face? this is a pretty good place for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think having a deep story is a bad thing, but you just have to understand that your target audience is going to be a lot smaller. If you want to get a lot of plays and votes, it's better to focus on making your arc short (and usually funny), keeping the text to a minimum. -
Enemies defeated in the MA don't count towards badges, aside from custom enemies counting towards their respective badges.

sorry for the nub question, but whats a PB?

Peacebringer, one of the heroside epic ATs. -

Eating a handful of candy that anyone could eat does not actually address the weaknesses of the class.

The duration that you can spam Lucks ends up being a problem on a few bosses. I ended up just throwing my hands in the air trying to kill Silver Mantis for Scirocco's patron arc and abandoning the mission because getting hit even once by any of her attacks irreversibly destroys me, and she had far too much longevity for my Lucks to be maintained. -
I'd recommend Leaping for a Dominator. It's a nice travel power on top of giving you two things which a Dominator can use a lot (Combat Jumping to get out of Immobilizes and Acrobatics for Holds).
-
I hit level 43 recently on my Katana/WP, and it's quite true in most circumstances about how you're basically invincible to everything. I don't mind it, though. Having played a Dominator for so long, being able to mindlessly murder things is great. There's still some mobs out there that will give you grief, especially anything that zaps your Endurance.
-
Note that you'll probably go insane soloing later on with Mind/Elec. I mean, it's efficient, but locking down a small group and then pounding them individually is godawfully boring. I'd give anything to run into a huge group and just smack the crap out of them with a bunch of AoEs.
-
I don't think it's possible to do that. What I'd do is just blank the compass tooltip dialog for the decoy crates, so that all you have is "Locate the crate of carrots" or whatever sitting up there, so it will vanish after you find the correct one.

..thats a horrible idea. Making it so that only good ratings are allowed means sorting the crap from the diamonds would be absolutely impossible.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's already impossible to do this. Searching through the four-star arcs, you generally are finding that all of the really great farming missions are up at the top with 999+ votes, while all of the truly good arcs (like One Million Eyes) are on page 300, slowly languishing to death. With this system, at least, it would be easier to locate the arcs that have been voted positively. I think such a system would flourish even better with search terms implemented, although the terms themselves should be limited to something like 3-4 picks (so that you don't have a Youtube situation where people just paste a bunch of random crap into their descriptions to get search hits). -
You can solo as Mind/Psi, but be advised that (barring the upcoming changes), Psi is rather terribly slow early on.

And you know what they say about ascribing malice to things that could more easily or likely be explained by apathy or laziness.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, this is a video game on the Internet. I'm wholeheartedly ready to believe that people are maliciously voting things down. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe the problem isn't so much 'the star system' as it is the '5 star system'. Perhaps it would work better if it were a 9 star system. That way the numbers would tend to even out a little more when averaged, and it would give people a better range of possibilities to choose for honest ratings. The percentage of ratings would balance out and give a clearer picture of what most people thought about it as the number of plays increased. If an arc could maintain a high rating (6/9 or higher) then it would seem to be held in higher esteem by the greatest number of players.
Just a thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
You'd see the exact same thing that's happening right now, where the voters are essentially divided into three groups:
1) The Five-Starrers, who vote something at the top of its rating, either as a favor to their friends/SG mates or simply because they liked it.
2) The Grief Voters, who will vote something at its lowest rating because they can, or because they're trying to push their own arc to the top.
3) The Honest Voters, who try their best to be objective, but, as such a small minority, will be unable to swing the vote much one way or another.
A star rating is honestly a really bad idea for an online game like this. -

From what I heard, 42s were called Meows because they were as harmful as kittens for the reward they gave. The Meows were a convention to make them easier to find in MA searches.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've also heard rumors that the most popular one when people were first figuring this out had a catgirl as the contact, hence the name. -

You know, I missed some of the details, but I PMed Skarmory to keep it out of public discussion because who knows what out of all of it got fixed/tweeked and what could still be used or not.

Comm Officers are all but useless now, so there's really no harm in talking about it. That's not to say that other people haven't already moved on to other critters by this point, mind you. -
The absolute best single-target Dominator is, in my experience, Mind/Elec. Electricity is a single-target beast and Mind has excellent single-target control.
-
Katana/WP is such a great character to play because it's the perfect opposite to my Dominator. Unlike my Dominator, it's a very plug-and-play character that can charge into difficult odds and emerge relatively unscathed with some very impressive animations and excellent damage.
