The boss at the very end. He'd use a Hold on me while I was trying to get close to him, and while I was slamming on the Z key over and over in an attempt to escape (that can't be good for the keyboard), he'd use some sort of one-hit-kill attack on me. Lather, rinse, repeat. (The pre-fight text said I had to block when something-or-other appeared above the boss's head, but nothing ever appeared above the boss's head. Attacks just came out of nowhere. Might be related to having to play through Crossover and Wineskin, which caused a lot of visual errors) -
Quote:None of these scenarios are worse than no game at all. World PvP would be bad but I'd be willing to at least try it.
-They could retcon a lot of the Lore so that Paragon City is some sort of suburb of another big city...basically try and shoehorn Paragon into their DC universe. And hey, they already removed Statesman...now just copy/paste Superman in there...
-They could get rid of the Rogue Isles...Oh I'd HHAAAAAAATEEEE that...but if red-side (and gold-side) is viewed as dead weight because few players play it?...
-They could meld RI and PC so that they aren't separate games and induct world PvP into the City...oh so many of you would hate that...I wouldn't particularly mind but it's definitely not a good thing.
-Another round of nerfs because our heroes are just too damned good -
Quote:HOW? I have had one character die in the tutorial once, and that was my fault (waded into the deep section).
CO doesn't make me feel awesome. I died five times in the tutorial alone, -
Opposing view on SWG and the "NGE":
From what I was told by someone who worked on the game (the late Jeff "Dundee" Freeman), the game was bleeding users. Projections showed they were some months away from reaching a number of subscribers low enough to contractually return the rights to LucasArts. They had to do something drastic to prevent that, and the NGE was it. NGE cost them a lot of users at once, and it probably wasn't the best (never mind only) possible response, but it did let them keep the license until TOR rolled around. Thereby allowing another company to take what should have been a license to print money and blow it.
I have no idea what game the pre-NGE fluffers were playing but it wasn't any version of SWG I logged in to. Combat was a joke, the economy was even worse, the crafting system was a grind from hell (every player I knew who was into crafting except one quit as soon as they got their grandmaster rank; they didn't even want to think about touching the game again), the "non-combat" professions like "entertainer" were complete disasters.... I was out of the game before the NGE arrived (and it literally nerfed my character out of existence; he was a Creature Handler/Ranger type) but it is hard to believe the replacement systems could possibly have been any worse.
SOE is not the devil, and if they got their hands on City it would not necessarily be a complete disaster. Of course it probably wouldn't be all rainbows and kittens, either, but it's hard for me to see a scenario in which a SOE-run City would be worse than no City at all. -
Quote:CO has no lock boxes.
This is why I don't currently play CO, and now that PW is running the show and spamming lock box messages everywhere I will absolutely never play CO ever again. -
Quote:Turns out this was a major dumb*** attack on my part: I had the keyboard plugged into the mouse port. You may mock me now.Just to rub salt in the wound, my desktop's HD was dying (judging from the noise it was making during drive activity) so I installed a new one. Now the system won't even POST and I can't figure out why. I'll have another stab at it in the morning but it just sucks not being able to log in now.
New problem: WinXP CD not recognized. My DVD-R drives stopped recognizing CDs a while ago; I was convinced this was a registry problem I couldn't track down. This was part of the reason why I wanted to re-install Windows. Seems that there's something else afoot. I'll probably solve this by replacing one or both drives in the morning. -
Sadly, my best arcs are still KIA due to the filter. Maybe I should knuckle under and try to fix them for the end.
Thanks to the whole MA community. Good times, bad times, it was all worth it. -
I am in the process of taking my Beast/Nature MM to Villain so she can get the Leviathan APP. It seemed the best fit. Fortunately Black Scorpion's arc doesn't make you do anything really reprehensible. She'll rapidly head back to Hero...I intend to finish the character.

Quote:Sadly, accounting often does not make sense. The mathematical anomalies surrounding Hollywood in particular have doubtlessly warped the very fabric of space and time, which would at least explain why they keep making the same movies over and over.
But that doesn't make a lick of sense, not even a tiny shred.
It's entirely possible that some numerical sleight-of-hand allowed NCSoft to do better on paper by killing PS, even if it was profitable. -

I've been switching back and forth between City and CO for ages. Guess CO will pick up the slack.
Wildstar looked interesting but like a lot of people, I will never spend money on a NCSoft product again. They've lost a customer.
TSW looks interesting but it won't run on my machine. Tried it during open beta, no go.
I was thinking of going back to WoW at least for a month or two when Pandaria launched. Perhaps WoW will get the suddenly-available money in my gaming budget. -
Warts and all I'm sorry to see it go. I'd hoped to see it improve and go on.
11/30, eh...got a Beast/Nature MM to finish, and then a lot of archiving to do, I guess.... -
Quote:My tokens on Beta haven't updated in ages, not even when copying characters.
Really? Every token I've generated on live is also generated on test. I purchased all of the Tech Knight pieces about a week ago:
I don't care for these Coffee Talk things because a) they're an excruciatingly slow means of communication, for me anyway, and b) despite the fact that the company has been talking more since F2P launched they've been saying less and less. -
I have the badge on two characters and will probably get it on at least one more.
They should lower the recharge significantly and make the workbench available on the market. The badge is its own reward; getting something that (now) normally costs money would be an additional incentive. That purchasers would not get the badge defeats any objections from those who earned it instead. -
Starship Troopers can't have a reboot because there's never been a Starship Troopers movie.
Nope.
Never happened.
Uh-uh. -
Quote:But there's always a bunch of them for sale and almost always for spare change. I think Tech and Dragon wings are the only ones that even reach low six digits nowadays and even that isn't very much.
I just want some place I can buy them for cheap with out having to rely on the market and its random price jacking or lack of demand. -
Personally I liked the original movie. I particularly liked the makeup job that let Rondo Hatton play the bad guy one more time, 45 years after his death.
The movie's box off take probably wasn't helped by the fact that Terminator 2 came out five days after it did. -

Sorry, I left it in the flying car. -
Quote:It would take about that long if you're drinking root beer.
With these rules, it should take about 20 minutes. -
I re-rolled the Beast/TA MM I'd just made (and gotten to 27) as Beast/Nature. I'm a bit ambivalent about it; TA was good for stopping runners and Nature's got nothing in that department. But I have enough TA characters already.

Costume recipes aren't worth anything as drops. They sell for spare change at the AH. I delete them when I get them to make room for more valuable stuff. There's no earthly reason for them to even exist at this point, let alone to add them to the AE menu. They should just unlock the pieces for everyone and remove the recipes.

But it is a catastrophe, and has been for some time. A catastrophe that was essentially ignored when it came to light because it was perceived as a "gay disease."
Little perspective. -
