  1. I'm pretty sure Group Fly just stacks with other Flight powers. What are you seeing that leads you to believe otherwise?
  2. Maybe. Right now they're literally almost identical; the only non-aesthetic difference between the two is the secondary effect.
  3. I'd like to be able to click on and enter doors when they're open.
  4. I'm standing in front of the store right now, and Mark's there, sitting on his box.

A lot of static NPC spawns aren't 100% guaranteed to happen, including the dummies in the Rikti War Zone. Boy does that drive me nuts.
  5. I didn't say it was bad, I said it was too average. Besides, you get Ice Sword Circle at what, 4?
  6. Well I don't know what the damage formula is for attacks, but assuming that Whirling Hands is what the normal results would be, then it does look like Psychic Shockwave has a damage boost after all.

    That's that mystery solved.

Is this going to fix the increase in the amount of lag we've seen since the last patch, or is it going to improve it further to make it even better than it was before?

In other words, even before the last patch it could get laggy. Are we going back to pre-patch lag, or will there be even less?

When the devs standardized the radius of Dom PBAoEs that pushed all the other PBAoE's performances up to match PSW's lowered effectiveness (which was brought down farther when it lost it's bonus radius).

It still has the bonus it always did, it's just that it's not an actual BONUS anymore, because for all intents and purposes it IS a melee PBAoE now.
Castle's post explicitly says that being on the melee damage modifier was in ADDITION to the bonus damage, though.
  9. Whoa, what's this? According to Castle's first post in the Dom Revamp thread, Psy Shockwave was supposed to get a damage buff on top of the regular formula just like Psy Scream. But it's still doing roughly the same damage at similar recharge and end costs as the PBAoEs in the other assault sets. Did it not get that after all?

Incidentally, that's really all I'd want: a small boost to damage, enough to make it basically a psychic version of Foot Stomp. That's like 12 more base damage at level 50.
  10. One thing that I'd REALLY like to see I think may actually be marginally possible: Glove and Boot details.

Let's use the Justice boots as an example: They come in two varieties: Justice and Justice w/Pad. The difference between them is the w/Pad variety has an extra piece of geometry attached to the regular boot. Underneath the shin pad, it's just the normal Smooth boot geometry with the unique Justice texture. This is true of a lot of pieces. If we separated the extra Boot detail geometry into its own category, we could mix and match those details with other boot textures. For example, put the Justice pads on the Heavy Buckles texture. Further, since they'd be their own costume category, we could have the pads be different colors from the rest of the boot. That would solve the problem where things like the Roman Vambraces with Skin, despite being extra geometry, can only have one color because one color needs to be reserved for skin color.

You couldn't separate out Boot and Glove details for EVERY unique set of gloves and boots, but there'd be enough that it'd be worth it.

It's not a bug, it's just how the power works, like Fleeting Whisper said. Most likely some power designer just set it up that way for fun because when it's an NPC fighting players who are almost certainly going to be all the same level thanks to super-sidekicking, it doesn't actually make a big difference. Now that Lore exists and the power can cause a loss of XP while simultaneously being much weaker than it should be, only then is it really a problem.

No, it only means that there's no harsh penalty for defeat.

With regards to the "death express", it's a completely different context from just losing a fight. In the "free ride" example, you're willingly letting yourself be defeated. You're achieving your goal. You're still in control. When you lose a fight, you're not willingly relinquishing control of your character. It's being forcibly taken from you, because you've failed.

It's a completely different thing to be sitting at your desk with a pencil and paper trying to objectively quantify a proper punishment for losing, and actually experiencing that loss yourself. You think that just because the player suffers no numerical loss for defeat, it's meaningless, but the player sees it differently; he lost, he died. And players hate to lose.

Dying is its own penalty. It really is. One thing that game developers should know is that players hate to lose control of their character. Death does that rather well.

    Lambda Posers

Posing in Marauder's cutscene isn't harmful, but it's not funny, either. It's pretty much exactly as entertaining as as the cutscene itself. At this point I consider people who /em dance in next to the Top Dog to be about even with people claiming the cake is a lie in 2009, or talking about how well they shovel 4 days after issue 11 went live.

I've also found my Mind Dom to be a lot of fun in the trials. It's the only character I have, aside from my Tanker, that can solo glowies in the second phase. When people follow me we blitz through the glowies, and usually whichever side I'm working on finishes first.
  17. It must be your fault for picking the worst archetype!
  18. I'm guessing you're right about patches stacking the debuffs, but from what I've seen one player can't stack more than one DoT from Reactive on a target.
  19. It works weird in the version the Dismantler gets in Lore, too. It does much less damage than other Lore Boss pet attacks, and leeches XP.
  20. For some reason it decided not to report hits.

  22. Hover your cursor over the trial names in the LFG window; it'll show you what slots earn experience in those trials.

The XP conversion recipes also tell you which slots they give XP for in the descriptions (there's two of them). I'm guessing you just missed that.
  23. That's really the thing; it's not a standout power. It's really just a "grab it to fill out your attack chain" thing, not an "All right! I'm 38 and life is great!" power. I think Drain Psyche would make a better t9.
  24. 25% chance is not "very" strong if you ask me. Besides, as a Dominator I don't usually need to look to my secondary for active mitigation.
  25. Do you think they reduced Psychic Shockwave too much in issue 12? I was looking at its numbers, and Psychic Scream does more damage, recharges faster, and cost less endurance. This is despite the fact that it comes 22 levels earlier and can be used from greater safety. Something about this whole thing seems backwards to me.

I don't want a return to the 37 levels of suck where Psychic Shockwave was the only reason Psi Assault was tolerable, but it seems an underwhelming 9th tier now. Right now it's barely better than Whirling Hands. Whirling Hands! Only the possibly most lamentable PBAoE attack in the game!
