Well I looked at the epic pools and even those are the same.
I like the energy pool, and all three have it lol.
What about the brute makes TW/Elec perform 'extremely' well? Is it just the damage aura feeding fury, or... ? -
We don't even have a confirm that it will be reduced. They could raise the regular, or take it off the market and put the correct version up and leave the ones they sold intact.
-
I like this combo, but can't decide what AT to do.
I have a few questions, but I'm looking for any suggestions or insights.
How does the tanker AoE taunt work with AoE powers? If I hit ten enemies with a tic of the electric damage toggle, does it taunt just those ten or do I hit those ten +AoE around each to potentially control a whole mob of enemies?
What are the resist and defense 'softcaps' for each AT? -
'The'
Not in the grand sense as you put it in the original post, but in the action sense. I like my characters to feel like the one badass who's going to go do something about the situation. I like flexibility, visibility, and never feeling helpless or useless and a solid look. Think 'the guy from Doom' he's not as unique as you put it in your original post, he was just some marine, but he becomes unique through his actions as a BAMF.
There was an awesome quote in Hagakure I can't seem to find now...
Someone requested their master let them go pray to the god of Archery or something,
The master said that if he met the god of Archery on the field of battle fighting for the other side, they should be resolved to cut the god neatly in two!
That's how I like my characters. Jump without looking because you can land on your feet, fight without thinking because it's the other guy who has to worry about losing, chase without hesitation because you can run down anyone, step in the bullet's path and save your ally because you can take any hit.
That's a 'The' not an 'A' IMHO. -
I actually bought one (not realizing it was superior) because it was in my build anyway, and it really surprised me how awesome it was. Sad to see it get nerfed... rather see the regular version get buffed.
-
Quote:This made my day lol...
I want a sloth now. T_T -
Also disagree. Since returning I feel like my characters are much... 'bigger'... for participating in the incarnate stuff. Can't wait to get my new characters up there after trying it out with my old blaster. Lots more recharge and endurance regeneration in the game now, too. That was always the point when I stopped feeling heroic, getting tired in the middle of fighting four guys was annoying. 'Fitness' was a pool power lol...
It's strange you talk about the past. When was getting beat up by devil worshipping thugs heroic? When a pile of Vahzilok all barfed on you and killed you, did you feel like Superman? Maybe it was when you herded and punched six guys standing 'inside' eachother that immersion was at it's finest, or perhaps when your ice tank was instagibbed on the '5th hit' or whatever it was that you felt on top of the world.
CoH/V is the only game I come back to and repeatedly find it's better than when I left it. -
Quote:Completely different and entirely the same.My ex-favorite MMO, S4 League, ran into this problem. It had a huge variety of weapons from the start and was for the most part balanced. Then they added "AP" items, which you bought using real money. They'd add "stats" to the weapons and outfits and the numbers stacked so high you could insta-kill people without any sort of skill.
No reason to play a game when your skill or achievements are circumvented!
I'm glad someone actually got that point.
Others have written it off as something simpler. -
Voted for CoH, but DAoC is dominating. :/
Which is sad because regardless of how good that game is -and I like DAoC- it's rampant with cheating and unusually vulnerable to cross-teaming for a persistent PvP game. No reason to play a persistent game when your progress and skill are so easily circumvented. -
No I wasn't.
I didn't articulate the thought well, you pointed it out, I corrected myself. Time to move on and not derail this guy's thread.
Quote:The point is that VEAT's are very relevant to the topic because they combine powersets that had not been combined before, much in the way the OP was asking, and do it very effectively. All VEATs are basically melee/ranged damage primaries and armor/buff secondaries with a few extra things depending on your specific VEAT and the tree they took.
VEAT leadership teams are awesome because they ALL take leadership. Yes, it's double leadership, but it wouldn't seem so phenominal if people would stop ignoring the pool to squeeze in one more power. Imagine if a team of eight people all dropped build up (+100% damage sometimes) and all took assault (+10-15% damage all the time). Net gain for team DPS, and net gain for individual DPS. Same thing with Maneuvers, people take their last pool to get hover or CJ because they're lower end cost, but if eight people took maneuvers that would eliminate the need for a ton of +DEF in everyone's build.
You'll never see it happen. 21 or so player incarnate raid has three assault hitting me, and I'm running one of them. :/
I personally take assault on EVERY character I plan to do and try to work in Maneuvers as well. I wish more people would do the same... but now I'M derailing. ^^
Quote:Kheldians might have some abilities that qualify as group support but at best those are at a minimum. Heals are NOT the best group support ability you can have so trying to describe a PB as a support class is a huge stretch
I stated the fact that the devs have put in Khelds and in doing so they have given players a choice of two identical AT's with a small variation: One has heal/team balance, the other has self buffs/team exaggerate, and the selfish exaggerator is far more popular in my opinion and experience. -
Quote:I didn't mean to say they were melee/support, I just meant they put in Khelds and most people skip the heal and team balance passive, and go for the personal goodness in the WS.Woah woah woah. Peacebringers are NOT support/melee in any regard. Why you would use them to argue against this is beyond me. Peacebringers have a mix of ranged/melee in their primary (with a single heal), and their secondary is self buffs/heals/armors. What part of them is support?
Now, you could say that the VEATs tried this, and those are fairly popular because of how good they can make a team. Not as popular as Brutes and Scrappers, but I still see them fairly often.
I wouldn't put VEATs anywhere near a PB for this. The leadership toggles are attractive for personal and group gain. They are win-win. Their maneuvers toggle especially should probably be considered mandatory as a defense power. Choosing a support set/AT/version is more meaningful than taking a win-win power.
Yes, VEAT's 'help' the group, but it's not relevant to any decision process like the topic or the PB/WS point. -
1) Existing support sets are meant to work at range. They are full of powers, some that corruptors are forced to take, which are extended knockbacks, repulsion auras and fields, huge areas of fear (rain), or that require the user move to the center of their team mates to stand between the melee and ranged users, etc. Some sets like Storm Summoning are completely backwards for pairing melee, with non-self heals, self stealth, and tons of knock back.
2) Comic book supporty type heros and villains don't LIKE melee combat. Name five melee support characters, hero or villain. I'm sure you could wedge one square peg into the round hole and argue for one or two characters being 'melee support' because you saw them throw a brawl out one time, but give me five and I won't call it nitpicking.
3) Thematically it's an awkward thing to play a support role from melee range. Melee combat is engaging and in-your-face, usually when heros and villains fight in hand to hand combat they're not doing much else. Maybe two melees going on next to eachother will have a combatant in one toss a weapon to his ally or take a shot at the enemy engaged in the other fight, but that's about it. Many melee sets have a single ranged attack for this like hurl or impale.
4) The previous experiment to see how many players actually would go support/melee largely flopped. Peacebringers get melee attacks with built in KD, adjust to support the team rather than exaggerate it, and have a melee hold plus a heal. Everyone plays WS's for other reasons. Granted this is a subjective point that could be argued forever, so I will punctuate with IMHO. This is just IMHO.
5) Redraw. The community at large has developed an aversion to drawing weapons, and drawing them seems to be cemented into the games programming. Once we get staff fighting I think scrappers sets with weapons will outnumber non-weapon sets something like 10-6. Brutes and tankers do a bit better.
In fairness if you pooled all the non-weapon sets across all three melee AT's and finally added Radiation Melee that would be around twice as many primary options as MM's have even with Beast Mastery, so I guess I just argued myself out of #5... >.>
6) Melee sets all include taunts, or placate/assassin strikes. They would need all-new powers made and balanced specifically for the AT's they were ported to. This doesn't rule out giving them melee power sets on it's own, but it takes it down from 'just give it to them' down to 'we need to design all new powers for that'.
But it would still be totally sweet if they did this.
I would roll a Radiation / Axe for sure! XD -
What about materials? A 4ft little girl... ROBOT... may weigh much more than a 6'5" man. Your gravity troller may register as the weight of a small planet and your kheld may have volume but no actual mass.
I would think simply adding your own weight to the bio is the best way to go about measuring weight honestly.
As a best case scenario for the topic, I could see a new editable field or two at the registration form where you type your name and bio in, that let you include a typed in weight and other details. But even then if you do a costume change... turn on a toggle like STONE ARMOR... etc... not going to look right. -
That jar is big though... I don't see a jar in that pic >.>
-
^He said no epic AT's.
I'm still very new with all the IO sets and what not, but it seems like with set bonuses, patron/epic powers like charged armor and temp invul on top of fighting, and three +DEF pool toggles... it seems like significant defense is available to any AT you want if you invest enough slots and picks.
If we're allowed to dedicate the whole build to single and the whole alt build to AoE... Can we talk about the more power/slot efficient sets for Defenders, Corruptors, and blasters? or do the defense stat particulars behind the scenes reserve this thread for melee AT's?
I have a dark/mm blaster I'm working on that I would like to put in as food for thought.
Single Target
Dark Blast can chain gloom/abyssal/siphon life (Maybe even just gloom/life drain with enough recharge?) and put out retarded single damage while self healing and accuracy debuffing over and over. That leaves a LOT of room in a build for dedicating to set bonuses and patron/pool powers and you've got a long list of random power types to pick from to open up sets. Any blast is a to hit debuff set, sniper blast in there, immobilize, etc.
Drain Psyche is giving you -regen for the AV's and GM's, and +recovery/+regen for yourself.
You've also got Mind Probe's -40% recharge. Not sure if it stacks with itself or even works on AV's but it's such a high effect and you're spamming it Maybe drop abyssal and get Mind Probe if you can't get enough recharge while maintaining sufficient defense through set picks.
PBAoE
World of Confusion isn't much damage, but there's a very nasty purple set for confusion only that might fit the build (5% ranged def.)
Pyschic Shockwave would be one PBAoE and it does some good damage while -50% recharge debuffing 16 targets, but realistically you'd probably have to dance around and throw in cones to really lay down the AoE with dark/mm. -
A big fish for a mace.
A shark or manatee for a titan weapon.
Mascot suits, or at least mascot style helmets. -
Is it hot when it crashes?
There is a heat issue with certain NVidia parts and CoH.
Are you playing windowed? Playing windowed mode fixes LOTS of crash bugs in LOTS of games. I have personally seen CoH stop crashing on my last PC by playing windowed. -
This thread made me consider making a tanker... I've wanted an X/Inv even since back to the last time I returned and saw the 'no FX' option, but never got around to it and with the whole 'generation' if you will of controllers and MM's running up to 50 I think this is the time to do one.
-
Typical old-game community. Everyone knows everything, but no one will stick their neck out to make a statement or start a discussion when you put down an absolute word like 'best'. They either flame eachother and pretend they were trolling or they post jokes.
You need to upset them intentionally if you really want an answer.
Wait a week or two, then make a thread stating YOU have created the best possible build.
Try. Really try to make the best possible build. Softcap every resist and every defense (or every positional defense) and pull as much damage as you can with a maintained single target chain and a maintained PBAoE chain.
Then let the forum gurus call you a noob and post their 'better' builds. Adapt, incorporate, weigh, and then you will find what you feel is 'the best' build once you've fine tuned it between your own opinions, goals, playstyle, and the raw unarguable math of it. -
Quote:What about Dark/Kinetics? Can you put shields on the haunts? or the sonic -res power?
I think Dark looks very tastey for /Kin. Multiple Pets, can take the single hold at lv1 unlike grav, ranged AoE hold unlike illusion, and it can stack fears at range (pets + fearsome stare). Lots of effect without interrupting your busy work with Kinetics. -
Quote:That's only half the thought process. If you fix something that's not broken, you may have just broke it. To say they could 'fix everything' requires first either they can identify the problem accounts (in some way other than having them make petitions :P) or that fixing an account that's not broken, won't break it so it can be done to all of them.Yes. Since they can fix every account individually, it's a matter of automating the individual fix.
Let me repeat that: They can fix all the account issues individually, and do so when the individual petitions. The extension of that is they can fix everything by automation. That's not to say it'd be easy, but yes. They can do it. They have not. Almost six months later.
Do you know for a fact either of those are true? -
Quote:So you're asserting that you know for a fact that they could fix every account if they wanted to, and that they have chosen not to?I'm not sure why I'm bothering to reply, but, obviously yes they (NCSoft) do have a magic wand that can identify and fix all the accounts, all they have to do is run some queries against the tables in their billing system. If they couldn't, they also couldn't fix individual accounts like they have been. After they identify all the accounts there may be some manual adjustments required to fix each one, but that's just part of running a business.
-
Quote:What principle of what issue? It's standard business 101; if you identify any issue associated with a billing system you must go back and identify and fix all affected accounts. You DO NOT rely on your customers to identify the problem and complain before doing anything.
They had a problem, they fixed it, but some accounts have an error.
If you think you have such an account, file a support ticket.
You have assumed they have some magic wand that can identify and fix all of those accounts and are choosing not to use it. That's the only issue in this thread. -
Darkness also has all the parts to grab tons of damage bonus sets. To Hit debuffs, sniper attack, etc. Pair it with MM for the confuse set and you can hit every single purple damage buff available plus hit the law of five on every other damage bonus. It takes just about all of your slots except of course six in abyssal/gloom/siphon life, so you have no AE... but with a setup like that plus Assault, Decimation BU proc in one attack, and a damage alpha, anything you point your attack combo at will VAPORIZE.
Mine is only 27 IIRC... but I'm going for it.
