  4. I'll be hard pressed to make it home before the end of these events. I'm usually still in traffic at 7pm =/

Think we could extend the time by like an hour or two? I'm sure i'm not the only person in SoCal or in the PST that has that issue

In fact, part of the player guide for defeating the thing included how to target the Hamidon nucleus when it disappeared due to sprite overload and how to use your powers under the effect of server lag.

When server hardware limitations are a large part of a widely-accepted strategy, your event design is faulty.
    Indeed

bout the only way they will be able to "fix" these is to limit the amount of players that can take part at once. Since all the cuplrits now are in open zones I don't see this happening any time soon or at all.

I also wouldn't be supprised if the lag with barrier powers is caused alot in part by real numbers being sent to all memebers of a league, instead it should only be sent to team my members only...or just make the powers work on teammates

The lag has gotten WORSE since issue 20 release in things that have had the lag problem all this time anyway. We've waited and waited very patiently for years to see this fixed.

I beg you to not just fix this problem in trials fix it in everything and you will make alot of people very very happy.
You do realize that the lag from those two events is from the sheer number of players within close proximity to each other, all the NPC's and the powers being used by both...it's a well know fact that in these cases the server goes "no hold on a minute, one at a time"

*Also the only time I have problems are with CoH. There are no problems during Dragon Age Two or when I record 100's of GIGs of videos for example.

Only CoH.. and only since i20. Before this I was playing 52 hours a week of CoH and on this machine. (Alienware) Now to get any uncrashy play time I have to borrow my husbands intel Mac Pro. :P
Brand new doesn't mean it can't be bad.

I'm not familiar with Dragon's age and what it requires. I do know that CoH can be pretty demanding on a system. and the portion of ram that is bad may be in an area that doesn't get used much, or is part of your upper video ram area. which recoding 100's of gigs of video or dragon age may not access.

but It wouldn't hurt to try either switching the memory with your husbands alienware or just removoing some of the memmory from yours for a bit now would it.

In my experiance not trying something cause "that couldn't possibly be it" usually results in hours of frustration.

    Crashing daily

Hey Krucifear, I had a similar issue with CoH a while back. I suddenly started having crashes with similar symtoms as yours. Did a complet reinstall of windows and everything with the same results. In the end I found that 1 of my 4 sticks of Ram ( 4 x 2 totaling 8 GB) was sorta bad. by sorta I mean it didn't allways have issues. running a memtest for almsot 24 hours and no bad blocks.

Things I ended up checking before then was, under voltage from my PSU to both the CPU and GPU, and Replacing the GPU. The final fix didn't come till I removed all but one stick of ram and tried playing the game for a while and repeating the process for each stick.

hate to say it but you may be looking at a hardware issue that just coincedently cropped up when i20 was released.

    Crashing daily

When I do crash I get the "{Application name} has stopped responding" with the green pulsing bar and a cancel button. However I can see it, or any other window, because the frozen image of the game is allways over top of it, and nothing I do will bring it to front of the 3d render of the game. I just end up clicking around about the middle of the screen till I find the cancel button.

I love statements like this, really I do. It's like you paid for it and that means that your system should be able to handle it. Even if it's way under spec'd or has a few thousands viruses on it. And somehow that's the developers fault.

When I first bought CoH some, what 7 years ago now, I though I had suficient system to play the game... Found out that was a big nope, had an upgraded system, not super high end by those standard, but enough over the recommend spec to play.

Now all this time later and 2 upgrades to the games graphic engine even if I set the graphic detail to the bare minimum I might get 1fps on that old dog (yes it still runs)

I might suggest that you look at what hardware you have in your system. compair it to the minimum, and the recommend, turn your graphic detail all the way down and try again. You may even find that you have a hardware problem that doesn't crop up till you go into pretoria that has texture file's and other stuff larger than the older parts of the game

*edit: Dior, I'm not picking on you specifically

  13. I ran several BAFs last night, most of them failed with me being frustrated at the end. The one that was a win was the most epic satification feeling at the end. That trail was 3 full teams.

  14. As an IT professional I'd just like to take a moment to point out that Windows Xp SP3 is mostly a roll up of all security updates that came out between SP2 and SP3. There a few things that SP3 gives you that you won't have without it or arn't offered by an update. HD audio for one (can't count the number of times I had to go searching for the patch to allow HD Audio drivers to install because the manufacture didn't think they should include it in the driver install) and Office 2010 won't install if you don't have it ( gotta love Microsoft)

for those of you that have issues installing SP3 such as redering the computer unable to boot or blue screens during start up SP3 requires more current ACPI support from your motherboard, most often this can be resolved by a BIOS update. In some cases a motherboard may just be too old to support SP3 which is unfortunate but it does happen and the only fix is to buy a new computer. Something I know not everyone can afford.

I also recomend that you atleast do the latest High Priority updates offered on Windows Update. SP3 is a High Priority update. Most High priority updates fix security holes in your system. These plug holes many annoying and irritating viruses like to take advantage of.

Also I never recommend just updating the BIOS on a whim or because there is a new one for your motherboard available. You really should only do it if you are fixing an issue you are having with your system. If your not familiar with updating a BIOS you should take your computer to a professional and have them do it. Doing it incorrectly or if something goes wrong durring the update it will render your system unusable.

I can't stress this enough if you don't know what your doing take it to someone that does.

    No.

This is a major change, one that should have been announced WAY before the issue goes live.

    This is a "Cryptic" release.

I guess Jack is not dead.
Sorry this doesn't work for you, but it's the way it is. I'm sure if the NCsoft Launcher supported pre downloads then they would have made it do it. They probably figured they didn't need it since the NCsoft Launcher does do trickle downloads and unless you go and change the setting the Launcher remains running in the background and starts downloading an update, and will update the game on it's own (I noticed the beta server install on my system is now updated yet I didn't tell it too). If you really don't want to have to wait for the update to download you can allways use a service like Logmein.com to remote into your computer from work and start the update your self.

and by the way Cryptic started the pre-downloads with i1

I have the PC and Mac client. I have repeatedly, since the March Producers Newsletter, have logged in via my Macintosh client and have received no pre-download.

I have gone back to the old PC client login, and have received no pre-download.

The NCSoft Launcher, which they want us to move to, has shown no sign of an update.

So, I am going to guess: Once the live servers come up we are going to be subject to a 20-90 minute download (depending on ISP speed) of the new content.

The pre-download was the best thing about new issues. Download the "pre" after quitting (like logout and going to sleep) and then when the Issue goes live you have a 20 to 100 "Megabyte" fix.

I fully expect an 800 MB to 1 GB download before I can even get into Issue 20.

    Devs, prove me wrong.
Have the NCSoft launcher runing on your system while your at work (or running in the background while you do something else) and it will begin a trickle download when the patch is available

That's great that people want to do the trials. But I think Assuming gaining t3 and t4 incarnate enhancemnts would be as easy to get in the higher level incarnate levels as it is in alpha is akin to a "I gotta have it all right now" kind of statement. I look as gaining additional levels above level 50, when First opening those new powers I wouldn't go run and get the highest level IOs i can slot in them, I'd through in some SOs first so the powers are somewhat effective till I can get the inf, merits and salvage together to craft the IOs I want in them. Same with incarnate stuff, I'll put a t1 enhancement in everything then work toward getting the t4 stuff I want. I can see in the incarnate slots that have yet to be unlocked for us taking even more work to obtain t4s with Omega taking the most work. Atleast this way I don't have to opt to pay billions if I don't want to, just like I don't have to pay upwards of 700 mill for a purple IO.

and I had no Idea you could put together a league prior to starting a trial. Maybe I'll get to do some with firends instead of just an all pug thing, Which is what most of the TFs I've done as of late have been
  19. ya know it seems alot of players have this "I want it all and I want it now"attitude toward everything. The idea of having to wait or work toward something just puts them off. Look 400 million inf isn't the easiest thing to come by for everyone. Combining all the inf on all my toons I still don't have that much. For a casual player that only gets to play 2 or 3 hours a week and rarely in a row that may seem like a unsermountable feet.

No you don't have to spend inf 1 on crafting these incarnate powers, but at the same time, if for what ever your reason cannot or do not want to partake in the trials unlocking the 4 slots will cost quite a bit of inf. forget about earning t3 or t4 slots.

In my Opionion the Devs probably should have put in a method in which people could form a league with who they want instead of having a random queing system the only way to start it.

  23. I was able to ask the devs directly tonight at the M&G in San Francisco about crossfire support, and the response from Black Pebble was that they can't talk about crossfire support for the game as of yet.

Bottom line nVidia gets multi gpu support, while AMD/ATI get left out. Which is dissapointing to me since I only build rigs with AMD chips.
