The best thing about making such a monumental error is that you tend to never do it again.
I've accidentally paid a billion inf for a common IO once.... ONCE. -
Finally managed to log in, fly to Icon to place the steampunk costume I copied from Test, and... none of the new steampunk costume pieces are available on Beta.
-
Beta Server 01 finally allows me in but no characters are present there, don't recall if I had any this instance from the previous open beta, if this was the open beta instance. CoHBetaWorldServer_13 boots me back to the login screen if I select it. I've queued up a couple of characters for the copy tool but dunno if or where they will land.
If I may make a suggestion to the devs, next time you schedule an event on the Beta server you might want to be better prepared than this. You ask us to make steampunk costumes but there is going to be little time to do so at this rate, still don't know if the character copy tool is working, or if I'm even able to access the correct instance.
EDIT: character copy tool confirmed functional, just had mine pop up. -
Quote:Gotta agree, wasn't caring for the change much initially but its simply a better way of handling CoH and would dislike going back to the old cohupdater launching now. Its a fairly small footprint app that happily runs in the background, it keeps the game patched while I'm away doing other stuff instead of finding there is a patch to download when I want to login RIGHT NOW, and it manages my Test and Beta installs. Not to mention it's blazing fast when actively patching, and will trickle patch when your pc's idle...yeah...no reason not to use it.
And since afaik we *must* move to it at some point, might as well take the plunge. -
If you're using that new NCSoft Launcher it keeps track of patches for Live, Test, and Beta installations, doesn't matter if you can log in to Beta or not the launcher will notify you when patches are available.

That's about my current total, I try to keep my friends who aren't able to game/market as much as I can with a decent bankroll while working on whatever weird build has currently caught my eye.

Quote:Was a little surprised by the lack of the typical warnings at 30-15-5min, usually I have plenty of time to take care of whatever it is I'm doing and go ahead and log out, didn't even manage to complete my radio mission with that little of a heads-up. Heck, for all I know any progress made this morning will go bye-bye anyways. And here we go again...
At 10:25AM CDT, got a Admin message that the Servers were going down in Five minutes.
No biggie here but the devs gotta be careful, perception can be damning. -
Quote:Which reminds me, I noticed the Arma proc in my brute's blazing aura stopped triggering at some point, have tested it for several hours of gameplay now and its just no longer occurring. It worked when first slotted oh-so long ago, not sure what changed. Is there a Known Issue with the Armageddon proc and Blazing Aura power not working together?Once you hit 50, if you have the cash, swap out the Eradication proc for the Armageddon proc. A 33% chance to deal an extra 107 points of Fire damage is better than a 20% chance to deal an extra 72 Energy damage by just about any criteria you care to measure it by.
Gotta do a respec in the near future, might pull the proc out and then slot it after giving it some time to "set". -
It should be noted that the notoriously impatient market is behaving even more so as of late, presumably from i19 making respecs beneficial for virtually every alt in the game. Not saying this diminishes your accomplishment in the here and now but I suspect the results would be a tad more limited before the issue's release and after the respecs have completed.

While I tend to leave the spawns behind when present-hunting I am aware of the potential impact it can have on some players, would generally restrict my hunting to out-of-the-way areas such as the far south of Skyway where lowbies rarely traveled. With the zone revamp of Faultline and especially the open tram system its not quite as isolated as it used to be, might work up a new flightpath this year.
-
Was rather surprised to see the "code applied" message pop up when I tried one of the twitter codes about an hour ago, normally I don't notice the CoH_OCR posting until about 6 hours too late.

The only item I would've considered buying (the only item I haven't already bought) was the overpriced Party Pack, too bad its one of the items not on the 50% off list.

In honor of Blue_Centurion's tireless promotion of a true black market I'm putting another Gladiator's Armor Def recipe up for sale, L50, can transfer to a L1 alt on any (US) server for trading. Price is 2.2 billion, send a PM if interested. At least some of the proceeds will be put towards a prestige burn.

Expectations met and wildly exceeded, awesome job gang! In particular I'm in joy-shock of the demise of settitle binds.

The final room in the tip mission has all sorts of clipping problems as seen here:

Mostly from the back side of the structure. -
Quote:Agree with this sentiment altho would still put the priority at 7-8, I want power customization finished but not at the expense of completely dropping everything else to make it happen.Power Customization feels like an incomplete addition to the game without all power pools being customizeable. PC is a big deal and a huge addition to the game, it doesn't deserve to be left unfinished.
Triggering the blue Personal Force Field on my reddish-black energy blaster is incredibly jarring. -
Quote:In a similar vein I'm curious of your opinion of Ice tankers when facing quartz eminators. I can't think of another situation where a tanker is so completely shut down from performing their duties than here, while Ice does retain some mitigation in the form of Chilling Embrace's -dmg and Hoarfrost's +hp and heal (and its 20% toxic res is noteworthy when facing DE) for the most part quartzes appear to hit this powerset much harder than could be justified. And its something any potential SR tanker would be forced to face as well.By the way, one more thing about SR tankers. Unlike scrappers, they don't always get to pick their targets. They have to tank whatever the team and the mission throws at them, most or all of the time. So what happens when the SR tanker ends up having to tank something with a significant amount of non-positional psi? Even Invuln is not defenseless to non-positional psi: it has both the +Health and +Heal of Dull Pain. Its not much, but its something. No tanker has literally *zero* protection to an entire class of attacks. SR would: the scaling resistances don't protect against toxic or psi. Even if you could work around that problem, I consider that to be a serious design glitch for SR Tankers (less so for SR scrappers and brutes). Tankers can certainly have strengths and weaknesses, but I think "zero" is going a bit too far on the weakness scale.
Are quartzes too poweful an effect or are they indicative of weaknesses in powerset design? -
I'd noticed a problem with Greater Devoureds while working tips on my softcapped claws/sr, was being tagged way more often than expected. Ran several test runs, made absolutely sure their were no quartzes about (but as mentioned elsewhere in the thread, their effect is so strong its hard to miss), couldn't pin it down. Seemed to have experienced a critical thinking failure, despite firing off surveillance I completely missed this elevated tohit bonus. Now my numbers perfectly line up.
If I hadda guess, Bill probably didn't notice the difference from spamming Shockwave -
Quote:IIRC each morality merit costs 25 regular merits, 50 vanguard merits, and 10mil influence, and the Glad's Armor recipe costs 35 of those merits so the total cost would be... 875 reward merits, 1750 vanguard merits, and 350 million influence (and 30+ days to buy them). Did the conversion rates change or did I get them wrong?probably not. Best offer would have been 100mil, if that.
Players who really want those recipes will be turning to the Hero / Villain Merit system.
I tend to use LotGs as my baseline merit converter, as of a week ago would've expected ~150mil per 200 merits converted into L25 LotGs (random rolls might see significantly better earnings but then again might see nothing but vendor trash). I've no idea what value to assign vanguard merits so not counting those or time-investment the floor value of the recipe would appear to be 950mil inf.
I suspect the days of 3bil+ sales for that recipe are a thing of the past but for the time and effort put into buying one directly 2bil could remain a reasonable selling point at the auction house. -
It shouldn't be DNS-related as the communications are by IP address and not resolvable name. I've had DNS outages in the past when pretty much all my other intarwebbing activities came to a screeching halt but CoH was playable just fine.
Whatever it is, its behaving differently on two of my gaming rigs. One is able to connect just fine (once I added in the new NCSoft IP range), the other will not. Temporarily turned off windows firewall and even placed the failing rig in the DMZ, still no connection.
And as I'm typing this the rig made connection. Something up with the login server perhaps? Who knows what weirdnesses are lingering after an all-day maintenance. -
After today's extended maintenance I'm seeing my firewall blocking access to an IP range I don't previously remember seeing from Paragon/NCSoft, looks like 64.25.36.* has been added.
Could we get a confirmation of any new IP range(s) in place and their full scope? -
Quote:Wow, maybe its from clipping but it almost looks like a fur mozzetta (the bishop-y shoulder capes). Here is the pic I have of the fur shoulders option:Doing a little digging in an old pics folder I found one of the beast fur:
/mozzettas would be an AWESOME costume option!
