Quote:Very true. My Fortunata for example can benefit greatly from Nerve getting Acc, Defense, Hold and Confuse duration. Defense will get her in the 60% range and 33% added to an AoE confuse that lasts a long time already is a lot. I also use single target holds a lot (AoE hold duration not long enough to be worth the trouble) so bang another bonus.Unless you are after a few of the secondary stat boosts that pool together in some of the very rares. Support characters with a wide range of buffs, debuffs, etc. will find those quite useful. For example one of the top tier musculature enhancements would be great for a dark/electric defender, getting a boost to BOTH to hit debuff and endurance effects.
A Fire Tank may not benefit from all the bonuses but some ATs rock those extra bonuses. I assume that is why there are 2 top tier bonuses 1 with larger bonuses to 2 primary powers and 1 with smaller bonuses to a lot of powers.
What I am surprised by is that no one is mentioning that they will want to get MULTIPLE Alpha slots for 1 character so they can swap them out. The time frame for that is really large. Also not sure why anyone fights anything but Rikti anymore unless they have so many merts they can never spend them. 1 shard a day for 150 merits means ship raids are better than ever. -
Make the Villain Respec more challenging.
Fix Temple Of Pain once and for all and make it soloable so I can get Items of Power for my Solo SG because all content should be soloable.
Add zones red side and Preat until they have the same number as Blue side.
Fat body type. Tee shirt options should not adequately cover belly.
5 new power sets that are completely incompatable with everything else in the current game.
4 legged body type.
4 armed body type. Four armed is forewarned.
Fat 4 legged and 4 armed body type with 2 heads all of which can be outfitted separately.
Disney Costume options.
A Pony Power Pool. Pony Kick, Pony Punch, Pony Gallop, Pony Whirlwind.
I pay my $15 most months and expect this to all be done by end of year. LOL Looking forward to anyother year of fun whatever we get. -
Stand still I only want to kill you!
I've found myself saying that more than once. Good that you are reporting it instead of trying to use it as an exploit "JOIN THE AV FARM!" lol (at least I assume you didn't) -
Personally I would like to see more Head variety but NOT Monsterous heads. They are too rigid. If you make a birdlike face with fethers, then you can have a few beaks in Detail and fethering for head in other Detail. This would allow you to use all kinds of new combinations instead of 1 or 2 new heads.
What is needed for detail 2 is a Snout or maybe heads with Snouts. So you can pick which snout (ala hats) you want on your head but still keep other build options to customize it. Minotaurs? There are a dozen horns already all you really need is a face with a bull snout. I don't know maybe that is a crazy idea. -
I don't see it as making them Gods. I will however most likely only run one or maybe two Incarnates since I am not going to jump though all these hoops repeatedly. I'll go back to alts. I still have a few ATs I haven't soloed to 50 yet. Getting closer though. . .

Quote:Well that goes back to the same arguement that most players don't LIKE strategy or thinking. They seem to prefer button mashing which oddly enough seems to be encouraged by latest releases. The vengeance strategy is one of the oldest for the LRSF.
And it is entirely possible to get on a PUG that just meshes well. My first Apex resulted in a Master of when we weren't even trying, but that doesn't happen often.
And even if the LRSF is "easy" (it isn't), that doesn't change players perceptions that it is hard and needs a very specialized team. I can tell the team leader all day that 5 stalkers will work but he won't believe it.
I do not understand the decision to make shards drop off all 50+ mobs equally regardless of level. I would have expected every level above 50 mobs to have slightly higher drop rates to encourage people to fight them and maintain challenge. The funny part about that is no one wants Stalkers then either because they want all AoE members LOL.
I can understand SOME of the Stalker hate though. I ran a Regen stalker to 50 and it is PAINFUL. IMO Regen + Stalker just doesn't work due to low hit points (I also don't get Spines + Stalker). My regen got 1 and 2 shotted so much the Hopsital named a teleporter after her. You can only carry so many purples. A poor player would only make this worse. So a weak Stalker that dies on contact could put people off them, especially teams that skip to end mobs and ignore everything else.
So now the end game is determining which ATs you can play. -
Quote:This is an interesting statement. Did a LRSF last night at +0 and despite a total lack of organization and people who had never done the SF before we won easily. We didn't pull anything we just ran into the middle of all the heros and everyone seemed to be hitting random targets. How that worked I have no idea if these are so tough.I've been one a couple STF's and LRSF's in the day. Many of which ended in failure and a waste of my time. I don't generally do them because A. I don't like leading a TF that requires specific strategies and knowing of the in's and outs of it and B. Most of my characters are not support and it's VERY rare I see a STF or LRSF forming that'll take a 7th scrapper or 5th tanker or what have you. They want support and even then they want very specific support. Seems even worse lately since I'm seeing some people requesting everyone be IO'd out or that everyone have an alpha slotted, etc etc.
I wasn't LFG I just got a Tell (Fortunata) asking if I wanted to join. Not being an expert at TF/SFs I couldn't even find the team half the time, so they hardly invited me because I was slotted out or knowledgable LOL.
We did however use Vengence to start the final fight. Oddly this is exactly the kind of fighting I dislike but everyone else seems to prefer lol. Perhaps they were all Slotted out and Incarnated out. I have about as good slotting as you i can get without purples.
Soloing at +0 level +4 characters seems to make shard drop rate decent (as opposed to non-existed below that rate).
Seems to me the simple solution is to add a recipie for X shards = Notice of the Well and let you build anything from base shards. That lets you skip the need for TFs although they will still be a big advantage. -
I haven't run into this yet but I have some VERY old characters (some haven't respeced since like Power Diversification and still have damage 5 slotted). I will have to check one of them. They are a depressing bunch. Level 50 with only IOs (and the wrong ones at that LOL) and almost no INF because back then 100,000 inf was like the moon and people had trouble affording IOs.
-
Forums nothing. Asking questions in game will almost always get a polite reply and possibly an invite to team to help you.
In WoW asking questions in game get obscenities hurled at you. Some people (the problem ones) have trouble making the transition lol. -
I realize you said you are stuck on Brute, but you may want to consider a Regen Scrapper. This fits the hard to kill, doesn't stay dead and MOG makes you very tough when you need it. Also through the roof Stamina Brutes only wish they had
.
I am not even going to attempt to compare damage between the two, you don't need 10 pages of debate. lol
Don't forget that by changing colors you can actually make sets look very different than they were designed so that they mimic different powers. (i.e. a white beam can be passed off as an ice power even if it isn't)
Sounds like you have it mostly in hand though. -
Quote:Sorry in advance, but after 11 pages of posts this question is exactly what makes other players so frustrating to be around. If you truely want an answer to your question read the posts. If you don't why post question? Is this thread for reals? I am all about making people complete tf/sf's or even raids to get certain alpha components. This is an MMO, why would everything be obtainable solo?
I am much like gec72 I don't mind forums, because it is easy to walk away from any threads you don't like as opposed to in game walking out on a TF/SF is a big deal.
I don't mind helping people learn the game but I don't care for teaming both due to the interactions and due to the fact that the game actually plays BETTER when not on a full team. You develop strategies beside everyone attack anything or porting team through mission killing key mobs so you can complete TF in 15 minutes. The game actually has some very cool strategies possible solo or on small teams or 2 or maybe 3 that don't work for full teams because there are too many mobs.
I find teams incredibly boring and wouldn't still be playing if that were the only way to play CoH. WoW is like that and I lasted a month.
MMO literally say the game is Massive Multiple Online Players - It doesn't in any way say that those players have to ever interact. The best thing about MMOs IMO is that there is always new content. If I get an offline game, even a really good one like Diablo or Fallout, once you are done, you are done. There isn't ever going to be anything new to do again.
CoH also is one of the first games I've seen online that really got the different builds play differently right. Playing a Fire/Fire Blaster or a Assault Rifle/Traps Blaster play very differently (solo anyway in a mad donneybrook TF maybe not).
Personally if 50+ content requires teams I just won't play 50+ content. As stated if I can't enjoy myself playing why play? If the game moves the direction where all the updates are for high level teams I will eventually move on to another game. This game has always been one of the best soloable games out there and if they decide that players like me aren't a priority then I have no reason for loyalty.
Hopefully that is not what we are looking at though. At this point I have a slotted Incarnate without teaming (well except for 1 ship raid).
BTW remember they have to REWARD teaming, this means people as a whole don't want to do it and have to be bribed. -
The Joker always seems to be teaming up with others and they are usually scared to death of him. Do that. LOL
-
It works both ways. The writer of the original Alien movie spoke to our film class and he HATED the director who ruined his story with his stupidity (in his opinion).
That comment came up when I asked "Why there was so much Steam in a Space ship?" Water usually being at a premium when traveling in space after all.
He said "Because the director didn't know how to film a monster in the dark movie! He couldn't build tension so he used fog machines instead!"
Well the movie certainly did well enough although the 2nd movie was miles better and the only one really worth watching more than once. (unless you are watching the later ones trying to figure out what the heck the movie is about lol)
Worst example I can think of was The Shining. The movie was the worst ever but people loved it. The book made it look like something stuck to the bottom of your shoe. -
The most obvious answer is usually the correct one.
No one WANTS to see overly strong female characters with no sexual backboard to soften it. The Black Widow in both Ultimate (the original) and regular universes is as strong a female character as you could ask for, but they have to soften it by making her attractive.
And she STILL can't hold her own title. Wildstorm had a lot of strong women (probably too many) and look where they ended up. Isn't like they didn't keep trying either.
The "new" black Widow in the Ultimate U is a good example of why no one wants a really strong female character. She is too strong, too annoying. Men aren't interested in her and Women don't want to be her. Which in the long run is the point of fantasy. You either fantasize knowing this person or being this person.
Oddly Spider Girl was probably one of the strongest female superheros with no sexual draw in my memory. Well certainly the only one to pull her own title for 100 issues anyway. Privately she wasn't always sure of herself, but she always stood up for her beliefs even when everyone told her she was nuts.
I will agree that I object to the artist's depiction of many of the ongoing characters though. Many suffer from ongoing breast expansion issues that seem to have no upper limit. More isn't always better and destroys any variety in visual appearance. "I'm sorry but we can't allow any women in the X-Men who can still see their feet."
Strong personalities aren't overlooked or encouraged in women by our society. A female Lobo would not be popular (at least not for long). So blame society, they can take it. -
Quote:Not surprising considering who the ORIGINAL Kato was. I mean who remembers the actor that played the Green Hornet? To me it seems they really wanted to show off Kato, possibly for it's release overseas.
Besides part of the fun of the original was that his sidekick was a much better fighter than he was both story wise and viewing wise. Green Hornet looked like the 60's Batman with guns and all the aweful fight scenes that go with that. Kato actually had decent fight scenes at least for that time anyway. -
I agree with most of what is said NW do a bit more damage, For have a LOT of control and wonderful PsW. But that is balancing.
Build for what you will be doing. Stick to mostly Melee attacks and AoEs and don't forget you can pull from the main pool for attacks as well as your specialty pool (many forget this).
PLACATE can be very useful in boss fights. If you are fighting a Boss/EB solo and run out of Health/END, Placate stops the fight while you heal and restealth, so if you are quick you don't even lose that much damage. If you are in serious trouble (no Health OR END and out of inspirations) Placate actually lasts long enough to use Rest (although you can't rest fully from 0 before Placate runs out).
On teams PLACATE is a good way to say "He said your Momma's ugly" and get a mob off you. A questionable practice sometimes but hey that is what tanks are for. -
Quote:Got to agree with this. It is like free armor (no END).You might also want to reconsider having both Wolf Spider Armor and the Bane Spider Armor Upgrade.
Manuvers is OK but I don't slot it. Just put a 50 END Red and leave it at that. All the PP defenses are like that they help a little but the bonus from slotting is half of a little. Using the slots elsewhere to improve other powers or for IO set bonuses is often more efficient. I don't have enough slots to spare 2 for minor increases. -
I named my fortunata Broken Toy to go with origin. Bane spider is Bane of Hope.
Names don't HAVE to related to being a soldier of Arachnos, although Sally the Fortunata does lack a certain something. lol -
I have helped a few people learn the game in my time but worst was in Atlas Park during Rikti Invasion.
Poor sucker just created 1st toon went through training mission, then suddenly he is dropped in the middle of single frame per minute action LOL. He can't figure out what is going on, who all these people are, why mobs are appearing out of thin air, and most of all why his graphics are so choppy!
Fortunely us geeks have certain phrases which explain a multitude of sins away. "Alien Invasion, join our team and hit anything that appears". Oh Aliens, that explains it lol.
Afterward there was time to go into a little more detail, of course by then he was like level 8 or 9 and had out leveled the entire zone. Not reall good if you are still learning, Atlas/Galaxy have a nice slow difficulty increase curve, starting out on level 10 Vaz can be a bit of a shock, plus he had no idea what powers to choose and build.
It was one of the funniest moments I have seen though, he was SERIOUSLY confused. Made me wonder if anyone ever quit the game because of this though. -
Welcome aboard.
I have to say with the new Incarnate system I would rather have a double experience/double shard rate drop weekend. If you are running a 50 (or 4 or 5) double experience doesn't exactly get you excited at the moment.
Promise us shards though. . . and we are like Ghost Falcon who? Castle. . no no that doesn't ring a bell. -
I would like the option to respec and totally skip the powers/slots portion. I very often respec because I am moving more powerful versions of IO Sets into my character and want to save the old ones for other characters. All I want to do is swap out IOs between my inventory and my character - nothing else (probably half my respecs are like this). In that case doing the full respec is extremely annoying.
I would like to suggest as a way of doing what you are suggesting that the power/slots you picked before for that level is/are highlighted. That would allow you to quickly pick the same powers or know exactly when to change out one power for another. That doesn't sound too hard to do.
Real problem is that this takes up time they could be doing other cool stuff. A harsh reality. -
Assuming the "Strike Pack" is a free upgrade and not a Booster Pack that is. No reason they couldn't have a booster related to 19 material. I am thinking they really like booster packs these days.

Quote:4 legged characters/Fat characters/Huge Women/4 arms are all things that have been brought up since release many times and replied to by devs. They are unlikely to happen due to the Sheer amount of work involved both to implement and for future expansions. It would require reworking every single costume part (which is a crazy number) and for 4 legged every attack/reaction to damage/movement type. One of these is probably enough work for 2 expansions and would slow down anything after that.Emphasis mine, but this reinforces my belief that we're getting animal parts and/or running on all fours.
ETA: MentalMaden beat me too it in the I19.5 thread.
Unless they come up with a completely new to make the costume designer work (so they Sexy Jay doesn't spend half his time tailoring each new costume piece for each character skeleton and size) I don't see things like this happening. Of course they have worked out things they thought were impossible before so what do I know? I just don't expect it.
More monster parts is definitely a good idea though. Personally I would like to be able to combine monter feet and other parts like pants too (for that poorly incognito look). My first 50 was a bug eyed alien and some nice arms and legs would have been fun.
Still not sure what a "Strike Pack" would be... -
I sell all my large inspirations and play the market (people keep GIVING ME MONEY I can't stop!). I have more INF than I have any use for on multiple toons on multiple servers.
And I keep hording more.
I have 3 solo bases on different servers stuffed with 5 of every Rare salvage (and as much as I can fit of everything else) and 2 tables filled with good Enancement sets ranging up to purples.
And still I keep hording more.
I wanted to change a character from villain to hero so for the first time I had to SPEND my merits. /em cry I got some great stuff including a Numinas which all went into the tables in case I ever need them LOL.
And still I keep hording more.
Fortunately I don't have a problem because I usually stick to villains. Overwelming greed and not learning are only a problem if you are a hero. (if villains learned from their mistakes the kill rate of heros in comics would be much higher lol) -
Personally I would not say that the Hollows was the standard for the best story arcs. I have always loved the original sequence of arcs that came with COH that explained more and more about the various groups you are facing as you leveled up.
For example the Circle of Thorns, Carnival, Lost/Rikti all have multiple story arcs that build on each other and actually teach you something useful as you go through them and level to 50. Recent groups require you to read online stories/info if you want to know the story behind them. 2 thumbs down for that. I don't play games so I can read online fiction. "They enhance the game" isn't a valid arguement when the same information can be included in the game in a more interesting format.
But then I think things like the Forums should be optional to play not required. Unfortunately for new players unless you use forums and web sites you will just get frustrated by the game, because this game is HARD for a new player - especially someone new to MMOs. You play for years and you forget that, but I've seen people totally frustrated and ready to quit because they feel completely out of control. Try spawning your first character during a Rikti Invasion (whether people are fighting it or not) and see how confused and frustrated you get LOL.
I would like to see thinks like Pets locking up, and the compass not working in Mercy Island (which has been broken since day 1) fixed ASAP (just set a waypoint there to see what I mean). Things like this should NOT rely on players telling each other workarounds they need to be fixed. Ask anyone in another software field and they will always tell you bugs come before enhancements. Devs have been good about fixing the geometry problems fairly quick, man that used to be a pain when last mob fell through wall and you had to follow into outer space to find em.
So for me Gold standard is make the game SPOTLESS. No known bugs people constantly have to work around, especially not for years. Yes even minor ones because those are less minor to newbies who don't understand it's broken. Then make interconnecting arcs that tell an overriding story that relates to the instead of only story. Granted some of the one off arcs are great stories in and of themselves (I love Taylor's arc in Nerva)
That and more mayhem. The Morality mission where they ask you to get in a giant robot and destory half of the Grandville slums sounds so cool until you are forced to turn them downThat was just a cruel.
Not being harsh, I just like the game too much sometimes.
