Did you know I created a thread and within 30 minutes it had 4 different developer replies and community managers?
That thread -
Did you know that I have the only stickied idea in the Suggestions forum? (Signature Powers)
Did you know I originally posted that thread in the General City of Heroes discussion. Its popularity took off so much I asked a moderator to move it to Suggestions and Ideas. It later became stickied after so many kept bumping it. -

Hey has this seen any red name attention.... im missing it?? I think its thumbtacked on the top but i dont see any red names...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah it was stickied but no developers have made a response. It was acknowledged in game by Ghost Widow (Played by a developer) though. The developers know about it and I am sure they want to implement.
If we never see it in COH, I can guarantee that this idea will be in Marvel Universe Online.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it was not. But Ex Libris Stickied it.
Also, [censored] Marvel. [censored] it in the ear.

QFT.
Using CoX players ideas for another project is WRONG.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I agree with you I think the reality is that Marvel Universe (Being developed by Cryptic) will be built on COH's mistakes. Not really "mistakes" but the way things were built. This engine was built with only X in mind. I am sure the developers will build MUO with X and Y where Y being things that they couldn't implement in COH due to engine limitations. (IE, Wall Climbing, coding for the powers there is some limitations, IE DMG RES and +DMG enhancers) -

Damn came in in the middle of this one. Looks intresting, just be sure not to make sure some things are inaccesable to some archtypes for balance reasons. Like giving a brute psichics to hit through almost every deffence. Or giving the deffenders the ability to create soemthing like granite armor.
Otherthen that I like it

I don't know for sure, but as far as I know, you can't make toggles. Also, the powers are like Accolade powers. Mostly for flavor. (Or a tough bind, I guess)
[/ QUOTE ]
You could make toggles (I think I covered this somewhere) but toggles would have penalities.
1) They would deactivate after X amount of time. I believe as X increases (Longer duration) that the amount of points spent should be become greater.
2) Also possibly the same deal but with an endurance cost. As the endurance cost cheapens to run the toggle, the amount of points spent becomes greater.
Basically you couldn't have a permanent toggle they would function closer to how phase shift works where it shuts off after a certain time. -

If they ever do implement this idea I wonder if they could have an NPC named "Ultimus" tell you about it?
Still would be cool if a redname ever showed up(Although Ghost Widow did recognize the thread at one point when someone talked to her)
[/ QUOTE ]
But you'd lose your name
[/ QUOTE ]
It'd be worth it in that case -

very good idea.
for the animation part, because custom animations would be VERY difficult to impliment into the game (so that everyone can make what ever they want). it would be nearly imposible, if there was a specific list to choose from, could be a list of like 100 animations, in each catagory, that would make it a bit easier.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah the animations wouldn't be custom per say, it would be a list (Most likely of all the existing animations and maybe some new ones). As stated in my post, they would be broken up into time frames from 1 second to the longest being interruptable. The longer the animation the more power the signature power has. -
[ QUOTE ]
now i like this idea one question i have, if it already hasnt been asked, is could u make it where you have more then 1 power BUT they will all be weaker compaired to what you could make one power.
Also if you could give me some sign that you have answered this since it is a long one with many pages??
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people have wanted multiple signature powers. It is still up for debate. In my original vision, I pictured only having one signature power. However, you could spread the points out enough to have a generalized power where you wouldn't need a second one.
That doesn't mean there still couldn't be two. -

Wow I feel special my idea was stickied.
Thanks for the support guys(Everyone that kept on bumping!)
*Wonders which person made their signature power the ability to sticky a thread* -

Solo the Shadow Shard TFs in under 30 minutes... then you'll have MY respect.
[/ QUOTE ]
been there done that
[/ QUOTE ]
Screenshots or it didn't happen. The travel times alone would make that impossible - the Shadow Shard is BIG.

Unless certain TFs/SFs drop certain recipes (Which from the sounds of it isn't the case) it wouldn't matter. -

All I have to say is, I don't care if Ultimus can solo the LRSF in 17 seconds. I don't want to see nerfs, and I don't want to see limits on repeatability. I don't care if someone can solo AVs, and I don't care if he can farm IOs at a rate that absolutely horrifies people. I just want to enjoy the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
The sad thing is that some people are quite vocal with their anger about people being able to solo in various contexts (some are angry because they see it as a lack of resources when they want/need a team to do the same content) and the use of Shivans. The final decision is in the hands of the developers, though, and I don't have much appreciation for their decision-making capabilities. Again, I'm more frustrated that there is such a need to use Shivans to do things than that people are using them.
[/ QUOTE ]
We'll just have to see what happens... -
[ QUOTE ]
Ultimus,
I have a question.
How many TFs/SFs would you say you can do this with?
I ask, because if you can do this with a significant number of TFs/SFs, you could bypass any time limitation set by the devs.
Also, if you can do this with several alts, you can bypass time limits that way.
The LRSF is a prime example of how ineffectual time limits to rewards can be. Many individuals and SGs farm the LRSF. They just rotate through alts. I know of players with 10+ level 50 villains who run the LRSF once daily per toon. Ultimately, there is would be little difference without the time limit. If this happens on a low population server like Pinnacle, I imagine it happens on every other server as well.
Whether they would have to switch toons or switch TFs/SFs, farmers will still farm.
*At best you can only slow them down slightly. Any mechanic that would increase rarity of items just provides more incentive for farmers to do their thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Any of them. Which actually just created an idea into my head...
What if TF/SF rewards were "No Drop?" Simply put these rewards could not be traded. World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs do this on a lot of instanced items. -

I have a quick question, how does the "Monster" Jurassic at the end of the Numina TF compare to an AV?
[/ QUOTE ]
He's about the same. I should note he is not a GIANT Monster. -
[ QUOTE ]
So you have a brute of an unkown primary / secondary and you SAY you can solo it in less than 30 minutes.
will you complain as much if your build gets nerfed to the point that you no longer can solo missions let alone TFs?
If the median player is able to complete a TF with difficulty, in a reasonable amount of time we should expect the devs to feel it's performing "as intended".
Statistically there are always outliers. This includes people such as you claim to be and people who have never completed a TF or respec (and yes, they do exist).
If you are such an excellent player, you have a few options to make the game more challenging. I suggest you role a man build, slide that difficulty bar all the way up and enjoy a challenging game. This will reduce the time you need to take out of your day crowing about how overpowered you are. It will also help balance your particular abilities with the median players.
Enjoy tough guy!

actually they were both necro/dark I believe. Auto hit AoE debuffs, AoE heals, and an extra pet with AoE debuffs and heals and all the pets deal less resisted damage (nightwidow owned them tho). Of course they both utilized Arachnos Heavies, but neither had a Shivan. MMs talk about soloing AVs all the time in their threads, with and without shivans, nukes, or any other temp powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heavies are even stronger then Shivans... in fact a Heavy could probably solo an Arch Villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it didn't get knocked down all the time
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah they need support of course but they are EXTREMELY powerful but they are extremely hard to get. -

Are you sure he's not just trying to flag a fairly significant point of exploit? Fire/Fire isn't exactly the most optimal powerset combination in terms of sheer min/max crunch. It's always seemed like his point was that anybody could be doing this - and probably are. Well, and bragging too, although I've seen less of that once it became clear that it's the Shivan doing most of the work.
But in this particular case, Ultimus presents it explicitly as a warning about a possible hole in the recipie system. And he's compeltely right: if anybody can just pick up a Shivan and swiftly solo their TF of choice, any concept of recipie rarity is going to go out the window, because people will farm them.
Warburg nukes are so time-intensive to get, even without player interference, I don't think they really count. I estimate around 20-30 minutes to get the chem and bio nukes for a seasoned player, plus time spent shooing away stalkers. But in Bloody Bay, so long as you stay away from the flight path between hero and villain bases, you never ever see a hostile player who's not themselves on a Shivan run or badge hunting.
The meteor run is likely easy on purpose, because it's catering to CoX newbies. As well it should. The main problem I'm seeing is the disproportionate reward for such an easy task - five elite bosses. I know some people disagree, but I really wouldn't be sad if they got downgraded to mere bosses, simply because dropping a Shivan makes a mockery of any task in the game.

Does that 30-40 minutes include the time it took you to get Shivan's and/or nukes? If not, how long do you spend in prep time before each of these solo runs?
[/ QUOTE ]
A Shivan takes me about 10 minutes to get. That also comes with 5 charges or 5 runs. Additionally, I VERY RARELY use nukes. (They do take a lot of time)
The COV respec Trial I beat with just a Shivan. Same with the 25-30 Strikeforce (Renault)

Solution: PREVENT EARNING A MISSION COMPLETE BONUS FOR ANY TRIAL, TASK FORCE MISSION, OR STRIKE FORCE MISSION IF ONLY ONE MEMBER OF THE TEAM IS ONLINE AND ON THE MAP WHEN THE OBJECTIVES ARE MET ...!!
Now, you CAN'T solo them - you HAVE to have two or more people online, and on the relevant map - which sets the spawn sizes accordingly. Problem solved.
[/ QUOTE ]
I doubt their engine could do that let alone if they could how much coding it would take. There would be easier solutions (such as changing how the pets work) -

That's interesting to me, Arcanaville. I enjoy the fights I get and the feeling I get from defeating EBs without the use of any inspirations or temp powers.
That's not even a possibility with AVs. With ANY build.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm still working on a long term feasibility experiment I don't want to discuss a lot yet, but lets just say that I have a build that is soloing things you wouldn't believe without video proof: no temp powers, no inspirations, no nothing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here and it involves Masterminds. -

<how'd you them apples BillZ? I saw you "hmmming" and wanted to take off on this idea>
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll buy it. But that fact is, there WERE others soloing AVs before ED/GDN. Catwhoorg was doing it long before Ultimus ever showed up.
I could do it using the knowledge I have of the game's exploits. I don't do it because it's not fun to me.
Soloing missions is fun for me. AVs are a waste of my time.
Finding ways to solo everything this game can throw at him using whatever he has to in order to accomplish it is fun for Ultimus.
I don't know what his actual motivations are, and don't actually care. It won't affect my gameplay, as I'll continue soloing paper/scanner missions and getting everything I need to fully stock my main with IOs.
If I am lacking anything I actually want, I'll find it either through friends and trades or the marketplace. No biggy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was doing it since Pre-Issue 1 regenerations -
[ QUOTE ]
You missed his point entirely. He wants drop rates drastically nerfed so that every who isn't an elite farmer will have no chance of getting a rare, and instead will have to buy them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where in the world did you come to this conclusion? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Since this is only possible for less than 1% of toons in the game the concern over trials and TF's being milked for rare recipes in unfounded, exagerrated, and generally a nonissue.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll concede that the accolades may not make a difference, but do you agree with my above assertion ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope the quote is pretty off. I don't consider myself some sort of super player. This isn't just one specific build but rather quite a lot of archetypes.
Have you ever read the Mastermind forum?
