If they nerfed Huricane, it would a direct response to something from PvP, which they've said previously that they won't do.

Don't you believe it for a second. They have ammended their stance to say "unless they need to."

    Badge Questions

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Y'know what I don't want to see? The Babbage buffed to the point where a Synapse team can't be expected to beat him, leaving him to rampage through Skyway at will.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's sort of what happens with the Kronos Titan. I'm not sure a group of 8 could take it out. We couldn't even dent it's health with 5-6, and with 14 it still took several minutes to kill him. If there weren't people around willing to help, I likely would've been forced to just let him go window shopping along the Red River.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno. Took it out with a Scrapper and a Blaster with a SK'd Kinetics Defender. I'm not saying he's easy, and that took a long time (10 minutes, probably).

But he's single team content. One team should be able to take him out.

And I agree that the wandering DE do not need to be harder to kill or to hit any harder. As it is they can two shot Scrappers (let alone the Controllers mentioned above). It's kinda hard to fight in melee when you can't afford to be in melee range of what you're fighting.

The big, wandering solo ones, sure. But how many teams do you really think you're going to get in Crey's Folly to kill Jurasic?

The more I think about it the more preposterous I think this is.

The correct change should be that every team that contributed something reasonable should get the badge. The threshold should be lower. 10% or even 5%.

    What's the harm?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
i'm just gonna test against that same even con luddite again. i'll let him get set up with the crossbow and let it record over night. that will let me figure out his acc bonus, though I have a feeling it's 15%.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For mere superbeings, the Archery attack accuracy modifier is 10% (As in it has an accuracy of 1.1). I believe it was Geko that posted this.

especially if placate was taken out by slows

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where can I find information on attacks, like what they do. I did not know that slows can slow down the recharge timers. I just thought they slowed your running speed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's somewhat notorious for having powers errors in it, but it's hard to beat this tool as a starting point. It has a ton of information on most powers. What I recommend is that you double-check the information on powers you're particularly interested in by checking the info here on the forums (either in the players' guides section or the archetype forums).

And hey, if you do find an error, let the author know. He's been pretty good so far about updating the database.

Exaggerate much? Aim (or Build Up with toHit slotting) is sufficient to trump the entire benefit of the SR and Ninitsu defense lines for 10 seconds, barring the activation of level 38 powers. You make it sound like that they can stand in the midst of enemy fire and can ignore it at will. It's flatly untrue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are talking about PvP, what about PvE?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, I didn't even know about this till two weeks ago, and never intentionally used it. In fact the way I did use DP was usually such that it made it hard for me to benefit from this bug. I don't see an issue at all. Of course I also think that people who stand around and rehide in combat are losing DPS bigtime.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also what if SR takes a few purples? Does that not push there defence up??

    [/ QUOTE ]

Build Up never runs out. You aren't limited to having any fixed number of them in your tray. And frankly, they work for Regens just as well. One small purple is about 2/3 the defense /SR can muster, total.

You never "run out" of Build Up or Aim, you just wait for it to recharge. You aren't limited to having any fixed number of them in your tray. And frankly, Lucks work for Regens just as well. One small purple is about 2/3 the defense /SR can muster, total.

    [ QUOTE ]
Can Nin do that? In some rare circumstances yet, always? no. Regen can. and bug or not, DP is one of the best powers for stalkers. Stalkers have very little health compared to other melee chars. DP turns a stalker into a scrapper with placate, hide and AS. And that is a nasty scrapper.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, but a /SR can, and they can even take out more, beacuse they dont get hit. They dont have to run, because they are not taking any damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exaggerate much? Aim (or Build Up with toHit slotting) is sufficient to trump the entire benefit of the SR and Ninjitsu defense lines for 10 seconds, barring the activation of level 38 powers. You make it sound like that they can stand in the midst of enemy fire and can ignore it at will. It's flatly untrue.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
It's not timing Placate that's a problem... Placate DOES NOT count as re-Hiding during combat. SR re-Hides during combat. Ninjitsu re-Hides during combat. Energy Aura re-Hides during combat. With the Dull Pain bug, you can sit around, taking the hits and re-Hide as long as you don't attack. It has NOTHING to do with Placate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are waiting, inactive, for the 10 seconds it takes to rehide, then you are flatly wasting incredible damage potential. I mean, the example we're looking at here is the one of facing melee foes, so it's not as if they're Blasters off pelting you while you try to rehide (which is a tough problem). It makes no sense to me to stand around and wait for a natural re-hide to achieve double damage on an attack. For an AS I could see it, because at an equivalent BI of 19.4 you might not be able to deliver equivalent damage in 10 seconds. But for a standard crit?

If anything the change in combat style this requires is going to increase your DPS. That is unless I completely don't understand something you're doing. Because I can't fathom why you want to rehide in this way if you can't use it to AS.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I killed Regen Scrappers, Invuln Tankers, and Dwarf form Kheldians for the sole fact that I could re-Hide while they were hitting me

    [/ QUOTE ]

It sounds to me like the difference here is that you didn't need to use any tactics at all about how you fired your placate. There are very few powersets in the game that can attack you so fast, so constantly, that you can't get off a placate and a fast attack during an animation. My experience is that, once an enemy starts an attack animation, if you placate them during that attack's animation then that attack's damage does not break hide. The difference is its' not going to be guaranteed because you could misjudge the timing. Nor should it be guaranteed, because it's not for the defense sets, either. But what they have to do based on luck, you actually get a chance to control through timing.

    [ QUOTE ]
(and chance to AS, if they couldn't interrupt it)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm having a hard time imagining a scenario where you have the liberty of firing an AS on a foe (which DP did nothing to make easier) but they could break your hide.

    [ QUOTE ]
Yes, I'm a bit crazed and semi-irrational, here. I'm losing my playstyle and pride (as a hunter) with this change. Why would I react in any other manner?

    [/ QUOTE ]

My recommendation, especially since you've got a whole stable of Stalkers: wait and see. Maybe you really won't like it. I'm willing to be you will find a way to adapt.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I have a regen/spine too. and i gotta tell you. This Bug was about the only thing that helped mitigate the fact that everything hits us. Now that it is going to be eventually removed? Regen is going to SUCK! Think about it......Everything hits you. Everything gets thru. Sure you can heal fast but your DMG now more thn any other AT will be castrated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    My God. Cry "doom" much?

I didn't know this bug existed for 36 levels. The way I used Dull Pain (usually after my AS/Placate/crit and only if I was losing the resulting fight) directly prevented me from taking advantage of this big most of the time.

If you're playing on dial up or something, or you personally have the reflexes of a toaster, yeah, maybe you'll suck now. Otherwise you're radically exaggerating. I mean, really, what sort of planning and tactics do you use to fire your Placate? Have you ever even tried to fire it without Dull Pain as a crutch? Do you know how to wait for your PvP enemy to enter a long animation? Do you understand how the PvE AI works, and what its attack patterns tend to look like? If you don't, then try learning, just like I did. You might save yourself foolishly restarting a character you alreadly liked.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Uh, yes, like the math I posted said.

Nevermind, it apparently does not matter what I say, it'll get nitpicked to death and relevant points will be ignored.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, I don't really see any significant math in your post. I read the formula you gave as shorthand, not an equation. You commented that you'd sort of forgotten the math, so I was explaining it.

If that's not what you meant, sorry. In that case it's not clear to me what you were saying.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I'll probably be dropping Fast Healing and Dull Pain now, to pick up Assault and Tactics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You will be giving up your single most effective power, in the sense of the power that provides you the most benefit the highest percentage of the time. Only Integration's mez resistance has a bigger effect on your playability as a Regen Stalker.

3-slotted for heals, you can look at Dull Pain as the approximate equivalent of 37% damage resistance that can't be bypassed by anyone or anything. At the same time, it boosts your regen rate by 59%. Dull Pain plus Instant Healing, while not a combo you can have running all the time by any means, make a Regen Stalker, even with those Defender base HP, incredibly hard for almost any character to kill without a team. And they can't be detoggled.

If your goal is just to be a Stalker torpedo who goes in for the kamikaze kill, go nuts. I think you'll be hating life in PvE.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Regen gets something: it gets to be regen. It will be easier to knock out of hide when this gets eventually fixed, but it has superior damage mitigation on average.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With our below average HP, it gives as much mitigation as the +Def sets against enemies with high Acc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What Aracna said. Regen's peak raw mitigation capability is quite a bit beyond that of any of the other sets. It just can't have it all the time. And that's why it's no surprise to me that it gets the harder time with rehiding.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
That's backwards, but also meaninglessly so. 55% base to hit and 91% tohit buffs means 146% base tohit before accuracy. To get anything approaching flooring you would require on the order of 140%+ defense and tohit debuffs combined.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I forgot this:

My recollection of the math is not perfect, but defense and accuracy debuffs appear to be more effective against accuracy + enhancements (base accuracy *1.enhancements) than against to-hit buffs. I've always found - for example - +25% to-hit buff to be more valuable than +33% total accuracy (or a 25% boost over 75%).

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's actually well understood because the accuracy ehancements (and inherent bonuses like MA and Archery get) are multiplicitaive on the net total of tohitbuffs, tohitDebuffs, and foe defense. If tohitDebuffs and foe defense floor you, or even just come "pretty close" to cancelling your base toHit, then all those multipliers are multiplying a very small number.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
So Regen is as gimped as I thought.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Feel free to think that way man. If you mean PvP then fine, but the idea that it's gimp in PvE is just laughable. I know what I've done with mine, and I mean it when I say the idea of someone calling it gimp makes me laugh.

    [ QUOTE ]
I was that someone that sent the PM to Statesman. If I still had his reply, I'd post it here. He said it wasn't a bug, but a "feature." Either way. For those who don't know, Dull Pain prevents you from being knocked out of hide easily, during its time of activation. So, it's like click mez protection, but instead, knock-out-of-hide protection.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, Tenryuu, it was me you asked, and I apparently answered too quickly without actually understanding what you were asking.

I am sorry to say that my response was incorrect. This 'feature' as much as I personally like it, is really a fairly nasty systemic bug that we are fixing. Again, I'm sorry for giving you incorrect information. By the way, this bug can cause issues with Badges failing to be granted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'm not surprised.

Castle, could this same bug result in my /Regen Stalker being unable to be "knocked out of" a fear effect? I was in the mission where you fight the unique Longbow boss Ether, and she terrorized me. Then she proceeded to stand around and beat the tar out of me (with her mind) and I never was once released from the terror until it wore off.

    Thematically it seems similar.

In PvE I'm not worried about losing this, because I know how to manage and time my Placates. (I didn't even know about this "feature" until a couple of weeks ago.) In PvP I'm not sure. I haven't been compelled to try PvP with my Stalker.
  16. No idea yet, but the fact that you can be knocked out of hide gives me some hope that it's a feature.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Also, I notice that some people are commenting on LTs. I personaly have not ran into any LTs as far as I know, or if I did, I didn't have any problems with them.

With the bosses however, I whiff with entire attack chains that include rain of fire. The bosses I know without a doubt have something wonky with their defense. Even SR scrappers in PvP and stalkers in PvP get hit by Rain of Fire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The LT versions are level 30+, or maybe level 35+. It's one of those transitions where a mob gets downgraded in rank and becomes a more common spawn. Like how Crey "agent" LTs become minions later on, and Lost Anethemas go from Bosses to LTs.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I agree with you. Even if we have more hp than a defender and reap more benefits from it. The defender has the ability to help all of his team mates with it as well (all other scrappers on the team would essentially have a better version of IH than a regen with IH) Just doesn't seem "balanced" to me. Would it really be game breaking for IH to have the same numbers? I don't think it would, but I guess that's just me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The devs don't seem to have a problem with people achieving the godlike powers such as the Regens and Invluns once wielded so long as they need teammates to acheive it. Consider the effects of a Sonic Defender. Now consider stacking that with, oh, about any other buffing Defender. Both types of Bubbles? Sonic Bubbles + Fortiude or Adrenaline Boost? There are many other combinations, and many would turn any Tanker into an unstoppable force and a Blaster into a minor god.

You can see the potential when you play all Defender or all Corrupter groups. You don't even need eight people or all Rad, either. It's incredible stuff.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Hasten = .70 reduction in recharge, slightly better than 2 SOs
Quickness = .20 reduction, slightly better than 1 DO

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good, that's a bit more reasonable, IMO.

Accelerate Metabolism is .30, so that's not shabby.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
It's equivalent (pretty darned close) to a "baby-Hasten" - instead of equaling an SO-reduction from Hasten (L6 Pool) you can get HALF that from a pool power at L20! Wattadeal!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, Hasten is the equivalent of two +1 SOs. That's a 70% increase in recharge rate.

Quickness is, last I saw it posted somewhere, about 10%, which is somewhere between a Training and a DO. I'd be pleased to learn it was more than that, but this was last I heard.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Also, there is one other slight error in the post: The run speed boost from Quickness is about 10-20% less than what you get from Swift. This is easy to test as there are lots of people with Swift in the game.

Yow -- a pool power that outperforms a secondary?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Swift doesn't increase your attack rate or provide slow resistance, however.
  22. UberGuy

    AT reps?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
That was the plan. As everyone knows, though, plans only work until you actually engage the enemy.

I'm not sure what the status of this is, but we've not forgotten about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The enemy? Too easy, I'll leave it.

But, wouldn't there have had to have actually been AT Reps before first contact ensued?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nah. I suspect "the enemy" was more like the personnel or budgeting department.
  23. UberGuy

    AT reps?

    [ QUOTE ]
    Rep? as in Representative?
No one person who plays a scrapper, blaster, tank, controller, defender, Peacebringer, Warshade, Brute, Stalker, Corruptor, Master Mind or Dominator has a right to speak for me or anyone else in the forum community.

That's why these forums are here - so we ALL have a voice. Now, if there is a company hired Mod who acts as Liason for each AT -- well, that's not a great idea, either. Even CoH has got some folks who are more personable than others, and more likely to get their ideas passed, while the not so charasmatic person might not be able to "represent" very well.

No, like it or not, the current system of an occasional PM and posting on the forums may be a bit slow, but it does seem to be effective. I say leave well enough alone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you will find that very many people (I dare say a majority of people) on this forums would disagree with you violently that past methods of communicating with the devs have been effective in general.

What an AT community rep would do is focus on the input and feedback from the forum (and other sources) for one particular AT. They would be the ones listening to us and taking our feedback to the rest of the dev team. By focusing on one AT they would hopefully maintain a consistent focus and understanding of the issues. To some extent I would expect them to champion our causes, distilling our input/arguments for presentation to the other designers and programmers.

I do not see that as likely to be a bad thing. Whether it actually happens or not remains to be seen.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I have dropped rain of fire on a night widow and watched not a single damage number pop-up over her head.

Considering how many ticks are in Rain of Fire, I would say that is pretty good statistical evidence.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, if that's going on, something is messed up.

I've attacked groups of three of them (LT version) in St. Martial with my Stalker and haven't had something like this happen, but my Stalker also typically disables one or two opponents straight off, and they get no chance to use their ranged tactics. Plus, maybe the LTs aren't broken.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
They also seem extraordinarily resistant to mezzes (at least the ones I have). Even with Domination up, it took multiple hits to lock her down. Her damage was scary. The mez resistance was compounded by the -recharge she has on a number of powers. All in all a scary opponent (for a dom), which required Domination and a trayfull of Inspirations to defeat. In other words, I needed to treat her like a tough EB.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aww, crap, here I did that big writeup and I forgot to mention that incredibly important piece of info.

All Fortunatas are highly mez resistant. Lieutenants take two mez applications to affect, and bosses take (I believe) three (or two "dominating" holds). This makes soloing any of them with a control-oriented character incredibly painful, and the Mistresses doubly so, since they will turn around and hit you with control powers in response. Repeatedly.
