Take away PBU's ability to boost damage and you've removed the entire issue.
[/ QUOTE ]
PBU is only one of many ways to get damage buffs. Aim/Amplify, Assault, Vengeance, set bonuses, Soul Drain, red insps, PvP zone buffs, not to mention outside buffs such as Fulcrum Shift. All damage buffs would boost the damage resistance buff value.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget red inspirations. -

Weapon set redraw. Confirmed myth by BaBs and yet still the subject of so many player balance debates.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair, this one is no longer simple. Once, weapon draw did not affect DPS, but now it does. When people found out that all weapon activation times had draw times baked in, they complained fairly bitterly, and it was changed so that they no longer do. So nowr edraw now adds in time that isn't otherwise there, thus lowering DPS if you have to do it often.
Also, not all sets lost their redraw time. Spines still has it baked in. -
[ QUOTE ]
As AE sits now it is the perception by some that the majority of AE participants are only interested in Boss-only missions. If the Devs alter AE in the manner I described then all critters, stock and custom, would offer the same gains in xp and inf., give or take.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no indication that the devs are going to do what you describe. Indeed, there are plenty of indiciations pretty much in the other direction. They are adding more power selection variety, not less.
And even if they did what you're suggesting with the primary/secondary combinations, it wouldn't result in what you're suggesting it would.
In short, this all seems silly. -

(QR)
Really, the simple way to solve this problem is to remove the +DMG from PBU.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hardly. They still would have the powers marked as they are, because you still have access to other sources of +damage. They couldn't start changing other powers just because they took the +damage out of PBU. -
[ QUOTE ]
Used to do it that way, but found I needed 1-2 purples to do the toggle pull anyway
[/ QUOTE ]

Wuh?
I'm not trying to be a meanie here, but... wuh?
I've got four level 50 Dark Miasmas, and I never ran into this. How do you position yourself to apply the debuff, and what do you do next? -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm just use to watching videos of the entire encounter to show that there indeed were no aids used during the duration of the fight. Cheers.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you require a video as proof of this, despite guides, fellow posters, and screnshots, you're being overly dense.
I'm not in the business of wasting time trying to convince overly dense people of things they don't want to believe. I'm certainly not going to go spending time making videos for you when I don't do it in general.
Edit: The Scrapper forum does not require anything as "proof". Videos are usually taken as a nice bonus. Very few people actually produce them. Some people provide no backing at all, just saying "I soloed X, whee!", and they get "grats". -

In fact, this bug has been present since I14 live. It SOUNDS like, from the OP, that they actually fixed it on test, and then borked it again.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, to my knowledge this was never fixed on test. Yes, it has been broken since I14. -
[ QUOTE ]
Come on people give credit where its due. I do not believe farms should be banned but rate them what they should be. A map full of nothing but minion only, Lt only or Boss only mobs with absolutely no story should not get a 4 star rating.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's where people's goals for the MA break down. What you've stated above is an opinion, not a fact. It may be a very common opinion, but it's still not all-inclusive.
The hard truth is that not everyone plays games like this for the story. They play it for "fun", and what aspects of a game are fun is wildly subjective. There are people who think that blowing through a large outdoor map of mobs is a better time than a well-crafted story with cool-looking custom mobs, and they'll rate it as such. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
We were probably primarily limited by our knowledge of how to play the game. When the game came out we were fighting about +10 mobs, no AoE caps, no aggro caps, no XP leash, and no mob-level-range limit. In the same timeframes where this was all true, we also had no DR cap.
[/ QUOTE ]
And dont forget how much debt you could get.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you were making good use of any two of the things I mention above, debt was a non-issue. -
[ QUOTE ]
... how fast DID people get PL'd when you could get XP at -9 to the team leader? I have no idea.

[ QUOTE ]
Back in the day, getting to 50 ( with the exception of AR/Dev) took enough time to actually gain experience with the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
That depends very much on what day you're going back to. You used to be both much more powerful and able to affect a lot more mobs at once. Generally, the devs have been slowly reducing player character power (up until around I9) while adding prodecural ways to level faster at essentially the same time.
Frankly, there have been ways to get to level 50 way faster than would let a n00b figure out the game throughout the game's history. There was a guy who hit the original level cap in about two days after pre-release. -
[ QUOTE ]
The proper solution, and the one I hope Castle eventually pursues, is to make the Resistance portions of all such powers Unenhanceable (and maybe slightly increase their base values to make up for losses to people who were enhancing them), and allow the rest of the power to be buffed.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is sure as freaking hell not a proper solution. I happen want the DR in my affected powers to be enhancable. -

[ QUOTE ]
They aren't AVs, though. They don't have the PtoD, per se, for example, though they have something similar.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agent Indigo, Johnny Sonata's Soul, Sunstorm and Lord Recluse don't have PToDs either (though Recluse has innate mez protection mag 100 or so), yet they're still labeled as AVs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arguably, they should have them, primarily because lack of them makes them something of a joke when mezzes are present (the reason the PtoD were introduced). It's not clear why they don't have them when they apparently share the other attributes of AVs. It's possible it's an oversight of some sort.
[ QUOTE ]
Scaled down AVs are labeled as EBs and still have the PToD, so the PToD is not a good criteria to use when pointing out what's mislabeled and what isn't
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be more appropriate to describe the downshift to EB on CR1 as a way to identify AVs. Honestly, though, I don't recall if in-mission Monsters do this too. -
[ QUOTE ]
I started right before Issue 1 came and played DM for the entire duration of it. I never found myself missing more than anyone else in those situations, and I followed the traditional slotting mentality of 1 acc/5 dam. I don't recall defense types ever stacking.
[/ QUOTE ]
They did, and I do remember them fixing it.
This was, even back then, a popular explanation for the perception of Dark Melee's accuracy "problem". I am not especially convinced, though, as I don't recall there ever being an Energy Blast or Energy Melee "problem", and they would have been equally affected.
I found the fix quite noticable in reverse on my Dark Defender, for example. I had noticed that I was unusually survivable against Crey Power Tanks. This was why. -
[ QUOTE ]
So i ll stand up my ground and add a few remarks: do not put the purp lines into big powers, but in the early ones, as they are uniques; and therefore will be 'bonusing' ur alt from the very begenning.
[/ QUOTE ]
You never lose set bonuses from purples, no matter what level you exemplar to. Even level 1.
You don't lose set bonuses from other IOs unless you exemplar more then 3 levels below the level of the (actual slotted) IOs in question. If you slot level 33 set IOs in, say Inferno, and then exemplar down to a level 30 TF/arc, you will retain your set bonuses even though you lose access to Inferno.

Yeah, I know I miss the Hamidon Dance Party we used to have on Jusice... I'd kill to get that back
[/ QUOTE ]
As mentioned, it'd take more than getting the phase timer removed. Current Hami would be quite pleased for you to perma phase in range of his attacks, as you could not attack him, but he could attack you freely. -
I don't record videos of this stuff. I do have screenshots, though.
These are the ones that I took of pre-50 soloings. I had to use inspirations for these because I didn't have all my IOs and whatnot for softcapped defense, damage procs, and endurance reduction slotting.
Mynx
Indigo
Sonata's Soul
Kalinda
Lumiary
I've "soloed" all the other AVs in the arcs on the way to 50, but the others I used temps or pet allies on. For example I fought Aurora Borealis at level 34, but had Rikti from Stasis Tubes along for the ride. (They don't really do much, but it's still not "soloing" by some people's definition.) -
[ QUOTE ]
1> When I press Printscreen, a no-UI version gets saved to my screenshots folder, and a dump of everything on the screen - game, UI, title bar with [_][o][X] in the corner, and Start Menu/Task bar - gets copied to the OS clipboard, ready to be pasted into MS Paint.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is not what my system is doing. Windows XP SP2, NVidia GPU, fullscreen mode.
[ QUOTE ]
/bind numpad0 "screenshotui 0$$screenshot"
/bind numpad1 "screenshotui 1$$screenshot"
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't realize you could chain those two. That's good to know. -
[ QUOTE ]
Printscreen copies the entire screen at the same time as the screenshot is made. No Alt is needed. They DO let us use a different key for taking screenshots. You can change it in Options/Keymapping, or manually /bind it yourself.
[/ QUOTE ]
You very much did not understand me.
1) Printscreen copies the actual screenshot contents to your clipboard. This means that if you have UI off, you get a screenshot with no UI in your clipboard. Even if you have UI off and you use alt-printscreen, then you get your screen with full UI on the clipboard, regardless of whether you have /screenshotui on or off.
2) You cannot bind one key to UI screenshots and another key to non-UI screenshots. You can only bind one key to screenshots and another to controlling whether the first key's screenshots include the UI or not. The two are not the same. In particular, having two distinct screenshot style keys avoids the problem of not knowing what UI capture state you are currently in when you take a screenshot (as does my alt-printscreen trick). -
[ QUOTE ]
When you take a normal screenshot the exact same screenshot with the UI is copied to your clipboard. Open up Pain/<insert your image editor> and you should be able to paste it in no problem.
Theres also a setting in the options to toggle the UI on/off for screenshots as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Printscreen will capture whatever your /screenshotui setting has in place. So if you take a screenshot with it the UI off , your clipboard will have the same picture.
If you use alt+printscreen, it captures your actual rendered screen, UI and all (and does not also take a screenshot in your screenshot folder).
Why they don't just let us bind a different key for UI-enabled screenshots in the folder is beyond me, but for the way I do things, the alt-printscreen thing works out fine. -
[ QUOTE ]
Having some specifically built AV killers, DM/SR scrap, Bot/Traps MM and Ill/Rad troller I would be impressed to say the least to "see" a NW actually do it. "Should be fully capable of it" is WORLDS away from actually doing it when it comes to facing down AV's solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? Are you serious? People were posting builds for this months ago. TopDoc has a guide on it somewhere I think.
I've personally soloed a number of the 35+ and 40+ AVs with my NW. There was a thread by someone who soloed some of the Psi-heavy AVs with a tricked out Fortunata.
I've soloed Luminry, Aurora Borealis, Indigo, Johnny Sonata Soul, and Kalinda on my Widow with no temps and only the occasional blue insp. The rest of them I usually got tired of and threw Shivans or Bio nukes at because it was an excercise in random chance (will they hit me 2-3x too close together?) that wasn't especially entertaining to me.
One AV that just repeatedly ate me alive was BaB. I had trouble with him even after using temps. -
[ QUOTE ]
So this thread is about Rush Limbaugh and Jimmy Carter conducting an experiment to manipulate viewship ratings?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, what this thread has become about is testing for my own curiosity how totally willing to wander away from a thread AF is. He's done it many times before (with me at least). He'll pursue disagreement on tangents and sidebars without limit as far as I can tell. When he responded to me on the Limbaugh tangent, I figured I'd run with it and see how far it'd go. I'm a little surprised we didn't manage to derail the thread into space the mods would have to intervene on in terms of political discussion. While we've gone far afield, we managed to not tread on the mines there. -
Yes, it's very good.
There's a reason they're very expensive at the market. Some of it is the set bonuses, too, but the purple damage procs are very desirable even if you don't include them with other pieces from their set. -
[ QUOTE ]
In retrospect, it makes sense that they aren't pool A, but rater an "extra" pool, like costume parts, otherwise they'd show up at lower levels, and maybe in Bronze Rolls.
[/ QUOTE ]
That I don't know about. I think that may just be related to the fact that the only exist at level 50. Level 10 mobs won't drop Mako's Bites, because they don't exist from levels 10-13.
