You could always swap the red and blue parts, too. Same look but gives you more 'space' to argue should it ever come to that...

Precisely why I always try to respond to requests with a polite 'no thanks, some other time?' or similar when I'm soloing/WW'ing/etc. Of course some activities like respecs and such mean you can't see your chat window to respond.

While I'm just as tired of these missions as anyone, let me interject something. Think way back to when you were brand new to CoH. These missions did a decent job of sending you everywhere and getting a feel for the place, letting you deal with baddies in the streets that are in your way, learning which ones are where and how tough they are. We've all been into this long enough that we don't need it, but I think truly new players *do* need it.
But those hunt 50 carnies in PI missions, yeah, those can go. -
Quote:Actually I just played that one tonight and it *wasn't* in the layer cake. It was in a really long tunnel map that was pretty interesting - it reminded me of some of the CoT tunnel maps redside where they twist and turn underneath themselves. I find that map interesting. The Jewel of Hera - A lowbie (under level 6) mission guaranteed to be in the layer-cake cave.
Yeah, I drop those too. And any 'hunt 40 whatever' - 10 or 20 is usually OK, but 40 just takes forever... -
Have you done all of the unlockable contacts? I've been working thru them specifically and really enjoying those arcs.

Quote:I assume there's a visual clue for when Unstoppable is up and running, so you know when to pour it on?His [Honoree.Unstoppable] lasts for 3m20s with a 4m5s recharge, which gives you about 45 seconds to use everything you have on him. Anybody who has holds should use them at the same time during this point and possibly give you more time to kill him before he has a chance to reactivate it.
It can take some time to get the timing right, but it is possible even without debuffs. I hope you have better luck with it next time. -

Quote:Perhaps we should just all make a point of spending 15-20 minutes sweeping at the start of a play session, just to help 'improve the environment' as it were.As a side note, I think it might be a good idea for the devs to encourage more out of mission content like street sweeping. I am noticing alot of new/trial players complaining how dead the servers seem to be. just be nice to see huge groups running around again.

Quote:Think of it this way. The -range debuff won't protect the guy with Hurricane running. But if he's in the middle of the fray and the Tsoo near him is trying to target the blaster at the back of the party, that blaster is getting the benefit of the debuff.1) 60 foot attacks are reduced to 24 feet, not 37.5 (that would be a -40% debuff)
2) 80 foot attacks are reduced to 32 feet, not 50 feet.
3) 40 foot attacks are reduced to 16 feet, not 25 feet. These include not just cones, but also some of the harder hitting ranged attacks.
4) Enemies hit by the hurricane tend to get repelled away from you, thus ensuring that they will eventually be at a range where they become more limited in their ability to attack. The debuff is sticky and lasts for a bit after they are out of the hurricane.
Well, until the Hurricane throws him into the blaster's lap, but nothing is perfect. -
Quote:It's also exceedingly frustrating on Freakshow. When that big tanker gets up you have to wait for him to finish getting up, and he gets to smack you before you can even target him. That is kinda annoying. I can see the argument for why to do it but having to re-target resurrecting enemies is a bit irritating (especially against Rommy where you have to break LoS while he rezzes). Oh well, it's not the end of the world.
Meanwhile, rezzed PCs get whooped on mercilessly. :P Well, depending upon which rez you're using, of course.
Don;t get me wrong, I'm all for stomping on exploits. This is just a little unintended side-effect. -

Quote:I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I look at my accent as a 'lifestyle choice'.Only if you speak in a silly accent, your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.
Quote:Also, I am a red blooded, patriotic american who proudly salutes his flag in the morning, eats his Freedom Fries in the Afternoon, and makes sweet sweet religiously approved love to his many beautiful women on his big pile of money at night. Therefore, it is impossible for me to have mispelled anything. Obviously, the problem is that you live in one of those "heathen" countries, who insist on mispelling things like adding extra "U"'s and other vowels to everything. Unless of course your a fellow Yankie Doodle, at which point I pay $15 dollars a month, which means I'm right anyways.
So I win.
And besides, there is no 'u' in 'didgeridoo'. The aboriginals used them all for boomerangs.
As a lifelong resident of states south of the Mason-Dixon line, I have never been a Yankee, nor attended one of their 'games' as the late great George Carlin would define it. Nor do I 'doodle' - we architects call it 'sketching', especially when designing an abbatoir. And finally, while I pay the same $15 a month as you, I enjoy a much lower cost of living here in America's Heartland. That makes *my* $15 worth more than your $15.
Nyah. -
GvE can obviously still be had through the NCSoft store. And the CoV collector's edition has always been fairly easy to find, whether thru Amazon, eBay, etc. But I always had trouble finding the CoH CE set which has that slide sprint - I've been irregularly looking for a couple of years now.

I find the -def in Burst very helpful when soloing, which I tend to do a lot.

So what exactly is his objection to using Trial Mode? I mean granted, it's a bit limiting for someone with no contacts, but if you are playing you can certainly show him around and lte him get a feel for the game mechanics, play with customization, all that stuff. All without spending a dime.
If he likes it enough, he takes the plunge. If not, well, better to find out free than by paying. Ultra mode and GR, while cool and all, will not be enough to change his mind.
If he objects to the download, burn a copy of the files onto a DVD or a portable drive and load them on his machine, then let the updater 'fix' them. I think that works, tho checking in with the techheads in the tech issues forum might be wise... -
Fixed.

I'm mortified that we've left our cobbler-eating brethren out on the cold window ledge for this discussion. Blackberry is especially yummy, so much so that it is worth all those annoying little seeds... -
Quote:Be sure and try Mids that way for sure if you haven't already. Mids requires the .Net framework, and I'm not certain Crossover supports that (tho I could be off base since I haven't owned a Mac since my original 128K first edition.)I... Which brings me to the second way, which is to get Crossover. I just got the trial for thirty days and it crosses over window programs to mac. So you install crossover and then when u get something which requires windows u download it thru crossover and it works.

Quote:I wonder how much that says about hard drive reliability in general, and how much it speaks to the quality of drives that Google uses in their 'hundreds of thousands of servers'?According to the Google study, an operating temperature of 50C corresponds to a 20% chance of drive failure after three years.
It's their "20% time" policy: Google engineers must spend 20% of their time on something other than their main job, which leads to all sorts of odd things being done -- in this case, a study of the failures of the hard drives in Google's hundreds of thousands of servers.
Not that I'm not an advocate of keeping computers cool - I'd keep my house at 60 degrees all year long if I could afford it. -
Don't forget the redside unlockable contacts! It's easy to forget about Veluna Lunata, Tarixus, Crimson Revenant, the Slot Machine, etc. and those are some fun arcs.
