And if you poke around my Deviant art page you might find a little something extra as well
[/ QUOTE ]I have never wanted you more
They are some incredible pieces of work. Very, very nice. -

Is this the only hard drive in the machine? Does it boot to Windows? and at what point do you get the error ?
[/ QUOTE ]Yes
No
The loading screen with the windows logo and the progress bar which is the point I get the error
I might try the disk utility as well -
Okay, it's a fairly old machine but with a new HD. Today I got this message and I have no idea what it means. I suspect that it means I've broken the HD somehow but if anyone could clarify, I'd like to know if... how much I have to buy to get it fixed.

I would love to bring my firekin as a character witness as I've been on hunts with her to help Doc M (Joined a Xmas Winter Lord hunt and went into the sewers for the Lost Leaders badges).
Depending on when this is all happening of course as my working hours shift a lot. -

Havnt we already kind of merged?

Did everyone have access to both games regardless of which ones they had on their account before now?
[/ QUOTE ]
i might misunderstand you but, i only have COV but can create a COH character....
[/ QUOTE ]They did 'gift' anyone who had an account access to both sides when NCSoft bought the IP but it was a one-time deal.
Now it's continuous/permanent. -
{QuickReply}
It means that any code from any version unlocks both sides; hero, villain or GvE.
Finally! -
[ QUOTE ]
i was thinking, every time you made a new character, you have to delete it in order to reroll it.
but what if you could change the characters power, within a limited time of 2 hours.
that way, you don't have to reroll the character but just change it.
it is a one timer, so after this change it's on you.
anything wrong/good about this idea?
[/ QUOTE ]Good thing is you wouldn't have to remake the outfit.
Bad thing is you can just as easily re-roll, most of the costume options actually psuedo-save as long as you don't use the costume interface again. It seems like a waste of resources to make something that is only used once or twice per character and then once you're happy with your choice will never be able to use again for that toon.
I'd like it if you could save costume patterns in the form of a code so that when you roll or re-roll a charcter you can load the code and you get your character set up in an instant or costumise an alt with a similar outfit. -
I've been busy with my alts and lack of decent running PC. My play time is cut back a bit and I've been roping in other RP stuff (imagine having 36 characters that you want to give a proper backstory before the extra slots went live).

The majority of players play for xp and inf
[/ QUOTE ]
Who gave you the right to speek for "the majority"? You mean YOU.
[ QUOTE ]
Take joining someone else on a mission: how often do you read their dialogue?
[/ QUOTE ]
Whenever I get the chance, always if it is one I haven't done before.
[ QUOTE ]
There's a point where you know enough about the story to stop reading "because the butler did it" as you've already read the ending.
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is suggesting that you play the same player created mission over and over again. With enough creative players you could get a new story every day.
[ QUOTE ]
players who are still obsessed with inf and xp won't play
[/ QUOTE ]
so, they won't play. Why should I care? Players who like stories will create stories for other players who like stories. Players who don't like stories can go grind newspaper missions.
[ QUOTE ]
Otherwise I'll just stick with badgehunters the next time someone offers the Paragon Protector's map heroside or wait till there's a lv50 Overseer hunting party.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, that's fine, why not. Not everyone needs to do player created missions.
[/ QUOTE ]Well aside from putting words in my mouth (figuratively), you've just highlighted exactly what I mean; not everyone is like you or me.
Some teams I join are content with playing at whatever rep they want although if it seems too slow, talk of "upping the rep" usually starts or picking the player whose level is highest and only doing their missions (or a combination of the two).
"With enough creative players" implies that there won't be thousands of dull missions (or as I said last time rescuing Doctor Peter Enis) or that the mission creator itself will be flexible enough to allow such customisation. But there has to be incentive enough to get most players using it. Not everyone needs to do player created missions especially when/if they offer no reward to do it other than a brilliant story. Put simply would players rather do the STF or fight Hamidon for a Hami-O? 9 times out of 10 it will be the STF as even a failure nets some reward for the time invested from enhancements, salvage and recipes to sell (especially good since common IO recipes at lv50 go for more then rare counterparts).
I don't play for xp or inf; I'll get it as it comes and I don't go out of my way to get the highest inf/xp gain for my time. I'd rather do a TF on the lowest rep than the highest because I prefer fun as opposed to challenge (another reason I won't do the Hamidon as it stands). Don't speak for me PRAF. From my experience other players I have been with have wanted to do the highest reps, gain the most xp, move as quickly as possible to the next mission, timed or not. I don't and taking my quotes out of context pisses me off. If incentives are non existent then it will just be players like you who play for the story. Or like a PVP zone that only gets used on the occasion that someone feels inclined to.
If they don't get players using this creator then it will just be yet more wasted resources that would be better served elsewhere. Rewards are a good incentive to get the inf/xp hungry interested and maybe they'd decide to make their own uber mission and then get their friends and their friends. Once they get hooked it could get more players playing and more new "creative" players making even more stories, rolling out a wave of better and more creative maps with ever more interestng villains/heroes to battle.
Greed is a powerful tool you know; once they get hooked, they might stop farming the [censored] out of the same map leading to nerfs of powers or changes in missions which usually come too late to matter or they find making maps more of a challenge and realise that xp isn't everything when they come across your story.
The only thing I can hope is that the addition of a fully customisable mission creator is that it would stem from a revamped base-building system. -

The Arachnos helms are already available (except Mu) as the villain VEATs and I'm getting the feeling side-switching is going to be Issue 14 or 15 so heroes with those helms may be possible.
[/ QUOTE ]Depending on how it works, you may be able to create heroes with the helms anyway; that's how the Arachnos symbol from the Collector's edition works and the buy-a-friend Valentines promotion did.
With regards to the topic in general: why bother with this again? Each time it ends up in a heated discussion over what consitutes 'veteran', people saying how much the reward is so not worth it and general ideas on how to revamp the system to pick and choose what rewards you want.
How about we get rid of it altogether since people think it is so unworthwhile? That would solve all the problems and all the vet rewards could be bought via the Play NC shop.
I thought the boxing set was something I wouldn't use, Greek letters don't seem worth it since I've never used them, the tech set didn't look too appetising either but each one seems like... no, is a bonus. I don't pay for the rewards, I keep paying for the experience and these are a thank you for sticking round.
The 54 months will be of use to me; my empathy defender will be greatful of the extra power just as my MM will and I'm still a year away from them myself (42 months in August). I'm sure I'll find a way top use the 51 months as well. -
[ QUOTE ]
Is anyone else having this problem, where right clicking the pet in the window selcts the pet and opens the command menu? Or have I somehow set up something to do this? O.o
[/ QUOTE ]I usually get it when I get too far away from it (since it has the speed of a slug). I turn around and find it's stopped to have a dip in the lake. The only other time is when I forget to take my shields off.
The only strange thing I get is when it goes to attack a turret and gets stuck on an object like one of the core pylons on the pillbox or a bit of wall and does a lovely little dance on the spot which for some reason corrects when I call it to me which sends it off to attack the original target. -
[ QUOTE ]
If "story" is sufficient motive to read a book, or watch a movie, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?
[/ QUOTE ]Let me just stamp on this.
The majority of players play for xp and inf (by how much it matters is to each player's choice). The only ones where xp doesn't matter is lv50s since it's the roof limit. Even then players need their builds funding, SGs need their prestige to keep surviving (unless they are on the smallest plot where it's all about the bling).
Take joining someone else on a mission: how often do you read their dialogue? Once you have, how often do you read it again? And again? And again? There's a point where you know enough about the story to stop reading "because the butler did it" as you've already read the ending.
A customisable mission editor should be fully so otherwise it is just "paper missions with tweaks". If they don't have rewards then most players who are still obsessed with inf and xp won't play them regardless of how good the story might be. Likewise as a badgehunter I'd want the enemy kills that were relevant to count towards my badge hunting totals. Otherwise I'll just stick with badgehunters the next time someone offers the Paragon Protector's map heroside or wait till there's a lv50 Overseer hunting party.
They have to find the right balance otherwise it will just end up as another barely-used feature (like bases or the Hamidon). -
^ What Rapthorn said ^
While most of us were getting emails from these jerks, some people were getting GLOBAL tells from them everytime they logged in which means it didn't matter which toon you logged in as you would always get them. Given the prodigious rate at which they spam it was getting more irritating for some players (as they have your global and could keep setting up new trials accounts so the process would go on ad nauseum).
It would be good if you could get a notice that the person you are /tell-ing is on a trial account so you can /tell them with something more suitable like 'meet at the globe'. -
Yes, I would love this.
Tyger has to either go bear chested or wear jackets if he wants to show off his stripes. Now if he wants to wear a T-shirt, he has to wear one with long sleaves or it breaks his concept because the T-shirt doesn't have patterns allowed on the arms (or the shirt itself for that matter).
Similarly for female forms as well who can wear a small selection of shirts but have a similar problem if they want tiger stripes whilst wearing "tops with skin". The wedding pack stuff, the savage pattern can't have patterns under the outfit.
I would also like body/skin patterns to be separate. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is more aimed at NPC AV nerf post.
As it stands player currently play second (well third) fiddle in the 'power scales' to most of the signature heroes/villains. Now I can understand the big guns (Statesman and Recluse) being a match for a team of 8 heroes/villains, they are Incarnates, the Darkseid and Superman of the CoX universe. Tougher, badder and generally all round meaner than anyone else.
[/ QUOTE ]Agreed. We even have a mission from Tina at Portal Corp where your alternate self destroyed the world which may have once made sense when tankers could herd entire maps or blasters could one-shot (nearly) everything before ED.
[ QUOTE ]
Don't get me wrong Archvillains should be tough IF they have reason to be tough, the best example of this is the Nictus-infused Romulos, he's just been given a massive jolt of Nictus power, taking him from 'eight guys beat him down without breaking a sweat' in human form to 'more than a match for several heroes' in his second form.
There's a storyline reason for his massive increase in power plus Romulos on his own isn't actually that hard, it's merely the fact he's got the Essence backup (this was the reason the Essences we're added in the first place, apparently people in closed beta were saying how easy they stomped all over him).
[/ QUOTE ]Now this actually highlights the problem for me with using the test server to determine how strong something should be as most of the testers are usually high-end powerset junkies who know how every little bit of each individual power works. Especially in the closed beta where they invite only a select few to participate. The i9 closed beta guys said the new Hamidon was too easy as well but they had the best players from 11 servers collected on one to do it. Then it went live and about 3 servers can manage to do it regularly with it hardly being done over here.
[ QUOTE ]
Elite Bosses are 'roughly' the equivilent of one player character, some are more difficult than others (Madam of Mystery I'm looking at you!) but with most it's merely a case of bring enough insps to the table to deal with it.
[/ QUOTE ]For some of us, ANY E-B can be a handful solo and not one of them can be described as 'squishy'.
My mind Troller cannot take on an E-B solo unless he has nukes, some form of temp pet or carries enough blues to keep them in Telekinesis whilst pounding on them for about ten to 15 minutes.
[ QUOTE ]
I think the problem is what gets given to an NPC with AV status, the stupidly high regen rate, the purple triangles, the very high resistance to debuffs. I feel these kind of big boosts should be reserved purely for the heavy hitters like Statesman or BaB.
Of course it's just a suggestion and more a sleep deprived rambling at that.
[/ QUOTE ]Actually it's not. Sometimes I feel like soloing and I have to pick something simple like a paper mission or one of the older missions from the Shadow Shard. Failing that I can venture into Recluse's Victory and pick up a heavy, letting it do all the work for me (I actually went AFK twice in R.V. and the heavy took out two players).
Then I try completing an arc (Madame of Mystery, funnily enough) and fail it because after beating her as a Lieutenant twice she suddenly jumps up to an E-B in the last mission along with a neccessary tool to defeat her. Lacking pets, strength and team-mates (and as it was via Ouroboros I couldn't ask anyone to help) I had to quit it to be done at a later date.
I feel it's one thing which Champions actually has right in planning - providing content people can solo if they wish. I've actually enjoyed the fact that the Origin of Power arc covers the 25-29 range as I've now grabbed all the 25-29 Ouroboros badges. A tutorial talky-mish with a Lt. defeat-X and 10 glowies. That suits my primary troller perfectly.
With regards to E-Bs; I'd like to see them downgraded to Bosses when soloing. In Safeguards for example you get to take on a Boss in Peregrine but bring enough players and you face an E-B version of one of the Rogue Island villains; bring a lot and you get an AV version. -

Also, had thought today. Perhaps instead of having Alpha, Bravo and Charlie etc squads maybe we could have internal sections named after bladed weapons? I'm thinking maybe "Stiletto" for Special Ops/Wetworks, Saber for "General Infantry", Claymore for Heavy Weapons support, possibly Scimitar. And "Dagger" for Recon.
What do you guys think?
[/ QUOTE ]
Could just be me, but that kinda sounds more complicated than it needs to be. Then again, maybe not.
(Note to self, take a look at the Permissions for each rank when I get in from work tomorrow.) :\
[/ QUOTE ]Actually it does as it would mean having to decide who exactly fits into each category and why someone who wants to, can't. Not that it couldn't be used but not for the group rankings. -

*chews on some t'baccah* Patience? Ain' that a woman's name?
[/ QUOTE ]Naw, boy. That's what thems Doctors see when you got troubles withs yo body parts.
I'm still in for R.A.P.I.E.R and Pious is gone for now. Hopefully he'll be back when whatever happenings get settled. I haven't been on as much recently as my reliable PC and my new laptop are both toasted which means I got my old Athlon 1.4Ghz to work with and it only just runs City; load times are atrocious though.
So I'm still here but shadowed.
With regards to the concept change: I don't think we need to change it too much as the sudden loss of soldiers would no doubt shock the top-brass into investigating and re-evaluation (something to RP, the investigation). Knowing what they know about the Rikti they might want to focus on local matters instead. -
[ QUOTE ]
ok, go ahead... Trash me or praise me!
[/ QUOTE ]Well, GM Raoul has been very good for me. Each time he got hold of my petition he responded with direct answers, like he is a fan of the game and knows his stuff.
Just recently my MM got twilighted to [censored] at the door to the Midnighter's Club and had been twilighting fairly consistently for a couple of weeks. GM Darren answered but rather than sent me an e-mail with a ton of questions he just moved her to Mercy Island and she can walk again.
I suppose it does depend on what type of bug you encounter and the depth of knowledge each GM has of the game in question since they tend to be universal NC employees, dealing with multiple games.
What I'd like to see (never gonna happen) would be deputised heroes - players with limited GM powers (each use would have to be monitored obviously) who could pop round to help their fellow players in a pinch. Imagine being on a TF and getting stuck only to have one of your fellow players say "don't worry, I'll fix it". -

Must be a badge hunter
[/ QUOTE ]In my case it was cause I never found the time to play but then after the other big project I was with collapsed, I had loads of time to play.
That was before the vet system was even heard of but I felt the game was worth paying for despite my lack of available play time.
That also brings me to another point - if the game was losing money then why do we still have the option of paying for 6 months in advance (or even 12 months stateside)? -
[ QUOTE ]
Firstly....
Secondly... I've got a defender (on Defiant) that is currently level 27. The last week, finding a team was easy as pie. I've had constant tells asking to join the team which has been full for a lot of the time, at times I've had to hide from search to avoid them. Which I think is another reason why the numbers seemed to have fallen (not that I have noticed myself)
With the new hide abilities I suspect some people hide from searches as they only team with their friends/SG or only PvP. Which don't bother me one bit. I've found it to be a useful feature and I really don't see the need for a server merge as I personally have seen no drop in population.
[/ QUOTE ]Thirdly... it's summer so I suspect a great deal of players are enjoying "real life"...
...I hear the graphics are amazingly detailed -
Yeah, it's jsut a slight glitch since they introduced the blank days offline for 1 day offline. If you're quick enough you get to see it.

What in your opinion is the best way to ding 50 and where would you do it?
[/ QUOTE ]I dinged 50 with my MM in the future Recluse battle which was quite nice.
Best one I've heard of is dinging 50 in Atlas Park which must've been fighting one of the event GMs; Eochai or the Winter Lord.
Any GM would be good; Ideon leveled his troller Pirea fighting one of the Devouring Earth GMs on Monster Island.
Failing that it would be an A-V battle of some sort. -
The only other option is to get one of those prepay credit cards that the Daily Mirror seems to print a voucher for often enough.
The benefits of a credit card but you pay cash at Paypoint outlets (in garages and newsagents) to top-up with however much you need. Then you can use it as credit card payment online.
That's the current workaround; there was a similar thread about someone else who couldn't get timecards because their local shop was plugging WoW cards instead.
