At any given level, why would I ever feel more powerful if I can only ever reasonably fight the same number of foes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because they're STRONGER foes. They would have wiped you out a few levels earlier. What's so hard to grasp about this?
If you want to fight larger numbers, fight lower level mobs. Now, don't say this isn't heroic, because why does the con color make it less heroic rather than the strength of the mob(s) itself? If a -2 mob after the change is the same difficulty to take down as an even mob is now, how is it less heroic to go after -2 mobs than it is to go after even mobs? Same challenge, right? And isn't the challenge what makes you feel "heroic"? -

Ok.. fine nitpick me.. I'll change it to..
"if he does exactly what he says with no tweaking, this will be the result"
[/ QUOTE ]
If memory serves, he said xp would be adjusted "appropriately" and that he wants to maintain the current levelling rate. Your speculation doesn't reflect an "appropriate" xp adjustment. Once again, you're assuming. Your speculation doesn't match "exactly what he says with no tweaking". It reflects chicken-little naysaying. -
I really don't get how being able to take down mobs that are far more powerful than when you were starting out in itself doesn't make you feel more powerful and like a superhero. You mean taking on a mob that's throwing psionic attacks that would floor a fledgeling hero, much less an average person, doesn't make you feel super? At higher levels, even the minions are super, and it takes a superhero to fight them. That should be enough to make you feel like a superhero. Why does it require fighting back a zergling rush to feel like a superhero?
Fine, here's an idea, then: If you don't want minions to pose a challenge, then they shouldn't give xp. XP is, after all, a reward for the challenge you face. If it's not a real challenge, why are you being rewarded?
I think you're a bit confused. When you're talking about what you seem to think minions are, you're describing what more appropriately fits the idea of an underling... Underlings are the flunkies that are there to slow your blads/blasts/whatever down with their bodies. -

35 as it was at lv 15, will make it so that I'll never have the oppurtunity to feel more powerful as I grow/level.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, but being able to take down a mob at level 35 that would have 1-shot killed you at level 5 doesn't make you feel more powerful?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. It's a relative power issue, not a direct one.
[/ QUOTE ]
What the hell is that supposed to mean? You are more powerful at level 35 than you were at level 5. But you're not fighting the same foes anymore. You're fighting more powerful foes. The foes you are fighting at level 35 would have wiped the floor with you. You're now powerful enough to take them down. That's being more powerful. End of story. No made-up spin doctored terminology can change that. If you don't feel more powerful being able to one-shot bosses that posed a challenge 30 levels ago, then you never will. -
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, it's not that imaginitive.
It was stated that minion hp would increase by roughly 30% and that the xp would scale with it. That would seem to imply at MOST a 30% increase to minion xp. The xp might not even scale on a 1 to 1 basis with the minion hp.
Now, if the current better builds are relegated to fighting off 3 whites as a challenge, that is going to be *roughly* 10% of the xp they were getting prior to issue 2.
Therefore, while having no psychic ability, it would seem reasonable given the developers stated direction with the game, that the end result would be this.
Man, I actually consider myself a fanboy for this game and give some pretty glowing reviews when I get asked about it. I'm nothing compared to your blind flaming & demeaning of any suggestion that something won't be done right.
Cause, we all know Ignite was "fixed" so that it was still a good power. Oh.. wait... nm...

Very nice, but it's ALL speculation. You said they WILL do this. However, you have no way of knowing that they WILL do it unless you have some nifty precognative abilities... -

Exactly. What did they fix that wasn't broken? Smoke grenade? Or was it the fire imps?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, Fire Imps
[/ QUOTE ]
Fire Imps weren't broken?! The [Censored] are you smoking and where can I get some? The devs outright said they were MISTAKENLY classified as minions. Thus, they were broken. -

[ QUOTE ]
See thats the problem, I don't really have much faith that in this happening at an appropriate level. He'll cut the good builds to 1/10th the xp/hr then compensate by upping the xp of minions by 30% (leaving lt's/bosses alone). So minions will be 2x as hard to kill, lt's/bosses become much harder but worth no more xp, and all you get is a 1.3x for the minion kills.

[ QUOTE ]
Right, but if you don't get any stronger at all, what's the point of even playing?
[/ QUOTE ]
You ARE getting stronger. Go back and fight those villians that kicked your *** 20 levels ago to see that. However, the enemies you're fighting get stronger, too. That doesn't nullify the fact that you're getting stronger, though. It just means you're taking on foes that you had no hope of beating 20 levels ago. -
[ QUOTE ]
Drayvis, I think the point is that YOU are the one with the requirement that you totally empty your contacts of missions.
Now I'll agree that solo missions should never be "blocked" from you because, for example, you get two simultaneous "team only" missions (which would force you to do a team mission to get to the next solo one). But if the mission mechanic is such that this doesn't happen (and I agree strongly that it should be), I don't see the issue. There is no special reward for doing all your missions.
In the situation you describe (assuming the above), the Devs aren't forcing you to team; you are.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the devs are. By creating missions that cannot be completed without teaming, I'm being forced to team if I want to clear the mission list. I'm sure you'll find that the majority of people who like to do missions like to clear their contact lists.
I'm not saying I never want to bring a team to do missions with me. But I should be able to choose WHICH missions I want to bring a team along on.
Simul-clickies are fine on TFs or trials, where teaming is required to begin with. They're also fine if a player chooses to bring a team into the mission from the start. But, as the ONLY way to complete a regular mission, no. Modify them so they can be done solo if the player chooses to solo the mission. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've stated before - I don't want FORCED grouping.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then change the missions that require clicks on multiple blinkies at the same time so that, if someone chooses to solo the mission, it's possible to do so. I can see requiring the simul click if someone brings a group in, but, as they are right now, certain missions on Test are FORCING grouping. Marking them clearly so they can be skipped isn't an answer. I'm being forced to group in order to clear out my contacts' mission lists. -

Uhhh... all the non-Americans that play this game need to stand beside a foreign flag to what???
[/ QUOTE ]
The game is set in the US. Paragon City is located in the US. Your character resides in the US. Your character is licensed under US law and, as such, works for and is rewarded by a US government agency. Don't like the fact that an US agency gives a character in the US fighting for a US city a badge for expressing loyalty to the US by standing next to the US flag? Tough. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is why I asked for a response from the DEV team, and not the fanbois.
[/ QUOTE ]
...and then you get into name-calling trolling.
If you want a response just from the devs, email them. Posting on the forums invites response from EVERYONE on the forum. -
[ QUOTE ]
I see, so if I posed the question in this manner...
"If I solo 1 hour every other night, am I not rewarded now?" perhaps it will be cleared up.
It's not a debate. If I have the perception that I am no longer rewarded for casually playing the game, then I will no longer play. But I do deserve a direct answer on this issue, and therefore I am asking.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on what you mean by "rewarded". If you're truly playing casually, then the main reward you'll be out for is fun. XP would be secondary at best. Are you going to level every night? No.
It peeves me when people throw around the term "playing casually" when talking about how they don't gain xp fast enough. Casual players aren't obsessed with their xp rate... "Casual playing" has nothing to do with amount of time spent playing. -

Now THAT'S some pretty damn hilarious unconcsious unintended IRONY!
Threadmilling (sic) typo, in a THREAD that's already been posted once word-for-word in the scrapper forums, before it was MILLED right on over into the general forums!
That slip made me chuckle a lot. Even though it's completely unintended and completely unrelated.

The sad part is that the fact that it's repeated over and over again shows that it's NOT, in fact, a typo, but an indication that he actually thinks it's spelled that way... -

If they nerf my Fire/Dev blaster again after Smoke Grenade, I will be moving on to WoW. It is a bummer as your character gets progressively weaker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nevermind that the character was blatantly, horribly, grossly broken to begin with and you should have expected some SEVERE nerfing from the start. Get the f*** over it. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Hate to break it to you, but you're going to be disappointed with WoW if you think they'll leave overpowered skills/combos un-nerfed. -
[ QUOTE ]
The idea is that you didn't get hit, you just saw into the future, and what could have happened. It was just an example, you could fit plenty of things in there to justify a heal, though yes, it would be a stretch.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be an irrationally huge stretch. To the point of making no sense whatsoever. Your health bar shows your current health, not the future. -

How do people not know this? It tells you specifically that's how you get out of a mission in the tutorial. *sigh* It'd do a lot of people a lot of good if they actually read these things.
[/ QUOTE ]
And that, my friend, is why the phrase/acronym RTFM is so commonly used you see it on T-Shirts!
[/ QUOTE ]
I used to work tech support for DirecTV. YOu wouldn't believe the number of calls I got about things that were explained in actual simple english specifically in their manual (Programming the remote, etc). 9 out of 10 times, the customer had never even opened the manual and had, in fact, THROWN IT IN THE TRASH with the box and packing material. *sigh*
But, yeah, back in my EQ days, the patch messages are displayed in the launcher window every time there's a patch. Without fail, there'd be /ooc's (/broadcast's EQ equivalent) asking about a new feature that was explained plain as day in the patch message. *eyeroll* I swear, there should be quizzes you have to pass about these things before they allow you to play every time. Even if one doesn't RTFM, they should at least go looking for the answers before asking... Learn to try to help yourself before asking others to do it for you, says I.
Anyway, derail done. We now return you to the actually useful info... -

Melee attacks do 3 times the damage on average compared to Ranged attacks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That depends entirely on the enemies you fight. At low levels melee is more dangerous than ranged combat, but that changes in the low to mid 20s for some villian groups.

4. Sprint uses end yes but not as much as others turn it off in combat if you must but as you get more end and ways to replenishg it you may leave it on for quick step to catch a retreating enemy
[/ QUOTE ]
Flaw in this statement: You NEVER get more than 100 end. Most people get stamina in their character build, so get swift as the pre-req. Put a couple run speeds into swift, and sprint becomes largely unneeded since swift costs no end and cannot be shut off by stuns. -

...leaving 12 dead, including the driver. Preliminary reports suggest the driver of the other van was under the influence. One lone survivor is reported in critical but stable condition at Huntsville Hospital.
The TV reporter's voice drifted through the haze of pain. Blackness. That's all Patrick really remembered. His 6th grade science class was on a field trip in a minibus when it happened. Only a few of the top students had been permitted to go. Now, he was in a hospital bed, staring groggily at the TV. Dead? Sure, they picked on him, but he never wished anyone dead.
Patrick heard the door open and looked over. A doctor walked in and sat down next to his bed. "Good, you're awake. Probably wish you weren't, though. I'm Dr Milton." Dr Milton glanced at the TV and then turned it off with the remote. "Looks like you already know that part. It's lucky you're alive here. You were in a lot worse shape when you came in." He looked down at the folder in his hands. "We ran some tests. But these results only tell us what we already know. No way you could have survived the trip here without it. You're only lucky it's not something more visible."
"What do you mean?" Patrick asked groggily.
"You came in just this morning with severe injuries. You would have died from internal bleeding. And now, by this afternoon, you're lying here watching TV. Probably still in a lot of pain, but there's a lot for your body to heal. You've probably studied mutatants in science class, maybe even have a few in your school, right?"
"Yeah. One kid with blue skin and a tail, even. All the other kids pick on him worse than they pick on me. Makes me mad. Wait, do you mean...?"
Dr Milton smiled a little. "Your mother said you were a good kid. Yes, Patrick. You regenerate fast. It's the only reason you're alive. The...trauma of the wreck jarred your power awake, so to speak. They usually start manifesting at your age, this just hurried it up."
Patrick laid his head back and closed his eyes. "Tired..."
"Takes a lot to heal so much damage. Your body's working hard. Go ahead and rest." Dr Milton stood up and looked down at the boy. "We're gonna keep it under wraps. Your mother knows, that's it. You should do the same. It'll make your life a lot easier." He looked at the file in his hand. "We'll have to keep you in a few weeks. You'll probably be good as new in a couple days, but it'd raise too many questions if we let you walk out of here that fast."
Patrick nodded. "Got enough problems."

A sharp kick to the stomach sent the blue skinned boy to the asphalt of the parking lot as a circle of teenagers stood around him. One particularly burly looking boy with his head shaved scowled down at him. A button with a 5th Column insignia adorned his leather jacket, and a rebel flag on his back. "What'd we tell ya 'bout hangin' out here by yerself, blue boy?" The steel toe of the boy's boot connected with the mutant's chin, sending his head snapping back as he cried out. "I only put up with yer ugly face at school 'cause they make me. Don't think I gotta do th' same here, boy." He held out his hand, and one of his friends produced a steel pipe from his pack and handed it over. "I'm gonna enjoy this-...."
"Leave him alone, Dane." Patrick crossed over from the other side of the abandoned lot.
The burly boy stopped and turned around. "Or what? You ain't got th' guts to fight me, Tyger. Never have, never will."
"That's enough! You can pick on me, but this is serious, Dane. You're really gonna hurt him with that!"
Dane laughed. "Oh, playin' th' big man all th' sudden? Hold Blue, I'll clean this mess up quick as a warm-up." Dane's friends grabbed the blue skinned boy as he was weakly trying to scramble away.
Dane spun around and swung the pipe at Tyger, who lept back gracefully out of the way. A little too gracefully, but Dane didn't notice quite yet. Dane charged forward, swinging the pipe forcefully, Tyger dodging and jumping out of the way with ease. "Not bad, boy. Time ta get serious." Dane pulled a gun quickly and fired. Tyger tried to jump out of the way, but caught the bullet in the shoulder, sending him spinning in the air and hanging a little too long before he landed gently on his feet. "How in th' hell...? No way anyone can land that neatly from that. What's with you, boy?"
Tyger was kneeling on the ground, holding his shoulder. Blood was seeping between his fingers and staining his tshirt around his hand. "Lucky...I guess..."
"Yeah, ya got a lotta luck. Lil' too much, if ya ask me." Dane grabbed Tyger's hand and pulled it away from the wound, holding the gun to Tyger's head with the other hand. "Don't even think about it." He leaned in to look at the wound, which was already almost healed over. Dane smirked suddenly and spat in Tyger's face. "I knew it! My brother died in that wreck, freak! Yer freak *** comes out alive because yer a frickin' MUT! Gonna blow yer head off. Betcha can't heal back from that, boy!"
Tyger suddenly kicked out, connecting with Dane's shin and throwing him off balance, landing face-first into the asphalt. The gun flew from Dane's hand and skittered across the ground. Tyger dove for it, rolling to his feet and turning it on Dane. He glared over his shoulder at Dane's friends who had started to reach into their own jackets. "Do it and he's dead." They paused to think for a moment before making a break for it. Tyger turned back to Dane, who was still dazed. "Gotta pick your friends better, Dane. Leaving you in a situation like this..."
"Go 'head an' shoot." Dane smirked. "If ya don't, th' whole city's gonna know whatcha are. Ya think ya'll be able ta hide it?"
"Right, like they're gonna believe you. A nazi-wannabe bully. You cry mutie at every little thing. You've beat up more normals than mutants, and everyone knows it." Tyger put the gun in his pocket and stood up. "Get out of here. Run away like your so-called friends."
Dane stood up and glared, looking like he was going to lunge forward again before spitting at Tyger. "Ya ain't worth th' sweat, boy. Everyone's gonna find out sooner or later." With that, he turned and ran after his friends.
Tyger walked over to the blue skinned boy and held out a hand. "God, we need to get you to Dr Milton, Jace," he said as he put the boy's arm around his shoulder to support him.
"You didn't have to do that. I would've been fine," Jace said in his voice that sounded like a half growl.
"They were gonna kill you, Jace. Get real."
"Ever think that I wanted that?" Tyger scowled at Jace's words. "I been putting up with crap like that all my life. I can't do it anymore, DT." Jace looked at Tyger. "Don't gimme that look, either! You're lucky Dane's known as an idiot who'd call his own mother a mutant at the first thing she did that even looked strange! God, DT, you wanna have to go through what I do?"
"Not like I don't have my own crap to put up with already." Tyger shrugged. "Don't really care what they think of me anymore. Doesn't matter. Doesn't mean it's okay for them to treat other people bad."
"Mr Selfless." Jace shook his head. "You're a damn fool, you know that?"
"Yeah, people keep telling me that..." Tyger grinned. "Let's get you to the doc." -
