My account says my ex's name because he's the one that opened the account. (I didn't have a credit card or anything at the time, so I couldn't.)

I've asked support if I can get it changed to my name. Everything else is in my name now. Negatory.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, same here. My account is my ex-boyfriend's name. His wife and my husband aren't thrilled about it, either.

You want tempest in a teapot, In Game Advertising.

Weeks of teeth gnashing and name calling, it was very exciting! Some people left even before there was any clue how they would be implemented. (all what 2 adds that didn't even reach the entire playerbase)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny. I recall a few vocal whiners, a bunch of people telling them they had their panties in a wad over nothing, and that's pretty much it...

I'll add another "take a break". I've taken a few in my time. No game is going to stay fun constantly forever.

The best bet: If there isn't one announced, don't assume there's even going to BE another one. Not saying that they're going to discontinue them, but there's always the possibility, so it's not really wise to, say, schedule vacation time around the assumption of 2xp...

this game should lower its monthly fee to $9.99 instead of 14.99 imo. its getting old. its 5yrs old now. any game this old should not be going for 14.99/month still. if the rate wasn't so high i would keep my subscription going for a longer time. since its so high i will only subscribe for one more month before quiting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Game is only slightly older than WoW and EQ2. Both of those are still up at $14.99. Sorry, but operating costs don't go down as a game gets older. Be grateful the subscription rate isn't going *UP*.

Doing a Google search for Nexus Argos came up with full bio page with photo.
    https://www.virtueverse.com/index.ph...;printable=yes
The character is almost an exact clone of Captain Mar'vell, even the bio. The kicker? at the bottom of the page it reads "Character influenced by Captain Mar-vell from Marvel Comics "

    [/ QUOTE ]

INFLUENCED BY, not a direct rip off, doesnt even look anything like captain marvel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nexus Argos

    Captain Marvel

Nooo, no resemblance there at all. Well, except for...the entire costume, mask, and hairstyle. Other than that...well, okay, most of the background. But other than that....He might be a little taller! So totally different!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, I've been lurking and watching this for a while now, but I have to say something at this.

The costumes are a passing resemblance.

Nexus uses red and blue. Marvel uses red and black.
Nexus uses solid blue pants with starshot pattern, and blue boots. Marvel uses super black underwear of doom on the outside, red pants with no pattern, and black boots.
Nexus uses a V pattern to bring the blue onto his chest. Marvel has a straight over-the-shoulder block of black.
Nexus has a cape and brooches. Marvel doesn't appear to have a cape.
Nexus has flared gloves and folded boots. Marvel's costume is smooth.
There are not enough good male hairstyles to fault Nexus's choice, nor compare it to Marvel, because then a large quantity of male characters are also guilty.
There are cowls that are a closer match to Marvel, yet Nexus uses the very common "ruin" style.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The alterations you list are actually fairly minor. Combine the similarities PLUS the mention in his bio that his character was inspired by Captain Marvel, and the similarity is far more than passing. Even without that mention, the resemblance is INSTANTLY noticeable. That's more than "passing".

Ok here it is, what if there was a way you could change your powers almost entirely, like if i were a troller ice/rad, i could change it to fire/rad , or ill/rad, or any of those thing, you couldnt change your class though,
    soo...what do you think?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like people haven't come asking for this ever before. And the answer remains the same: No. Different sets even within the same AT can play completely differently. An Empathy defender plays very little like a Dark or FF defender.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Purist - Definition: A CoX player who gets all secondary and primary powers, along with two powers from a travel pool and four APP/PPP's.

I just have a thing for a full set. Is this bad idea? Both in general, and on an Elec/Dev/MM blaster?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why wouldn't it be? Although, I don't understand requiring all 4 PPP/APP powers to be a "purist"...

thay cannot be sued by US copyright laws for someone having a character that looks SIMILAR to a copyrighted name/face/character/fart

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, you're right, they can't be sued by US copyright laws for it. Trademark laws, however... And, guess what? Marvel did just that a few years back. 'course, a lot of their claims were thrown out due to the methods they used to gather their "evidence"...

It's a clear clone, open and shut case. Stop the protest and let everyone get back to their ERP with that cute little cat"girl".

Does it suck that there are quislings that feel the need to report clones? Sure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, yeah. Totally sucks that there are people who care enough about the game to not want to see the devs dragged into court again. *eyeroll*
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Well, maybe I can get the player to post the emails back and forth between the GMs & her. Proly just be an excuse to ban both of us and dlete this post however

The generic-ing is bad enough. 76% of the toons out there havea passing resemblance to SOMEBODY in comics. I respect coptright protection, but there are griefers on Virtue in particular that use this tactic to harrass people that they dont like, are jealus of a better tribute toon or just want to steal the idea themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Passing resemblance" isn't enough to get a generic. If it was generic'd, there was more than a passing resemblance going on there. And Capt Marvel isn't exactly an obscure character, either. It takes more than just someone reporting a costume/name to get it generic'd. The GM has to decide that it is an offense. So, no, someone reporting it wasn't "all it took". And, no, it doesn't matter if the name/costume had been around for 5 years. If it's a violation, it's a violation. Just because it slipped under the radar for so long doesn't make it okay.

People who report violations aren't "griefers", so you can shove that drivel back up the orifice it came out of, too. Little reminder: Cryptic got dragged into court to fight a long battle with Marvel over trademark violations. I'm betting that was a rather massive financial drain and probably has more than a little to do with the fact that there was a skeleton crew working on the game for so long before it was handed over to NCSoft.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    Ah, roleplayer drama.

...why the heck would a GM be threatening to ban a character? That sounds incredibly fishy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, same here. I'm gonna go ahead and call bullpucky on this one. The GMs have no reason to demand a character be deleted. Generic the name and costume. And, if they needed to go as far as have the character outright deleted ( which is just ridiculous to believe that they would. As I said, no reason for it ), they could do it themselves. No need to threaten a ban here.

Trademark violations are not a bannable offense. Sorry, Star, but either you're lying or your friend is.

    Enhancements

More than 3 SO's is pretty much a waste. For attacks, the usual style is 3 damage, 1 or 2 acc, and fill the leftovers with end reducers ( They do make a huge difference in end management ) and/or recharges.

This is known as Enhancement Diversification ( ED) and was put in for two reasons: One was to get people out of the cookie-cutter 1acc5dam slotting, the other ( and bigger ) reason was due to plans for...well, not specifically the current Inventions system, but a system that would be overpowered without ED.

There's an article over on the Paragon Wiki about ED if you want to read more.

I did have someone try to correct me on a character named Kelex Grimore once.

    Them: It's spelled Grimoire
Me: No, I'm quite sure I know how to spell my character's name. Now, there's a type of a book called a grimoire, but that's not what I was going for.
Them: Yeah, right. You're just too embarrassed to admit you don't know how to spell it!
    Me: .....
Me: Is the sky blue in your fantasy world too?
  16. No. It's all one game. Names are server-wide.

I would prefer a single pistol to two personally. Dual pistols to me has always said 'over compensating mama's boy' while one just shows you know what you're doing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Eh, in a fantasy setting there's always "practical versus cool," in which case cool tends to win because nobody cares how practical or realistic it is to use one gun compared to two. This is also why Martial Arts has the flying monkey kick, powers like Total Focus let you slow-mo through the air, and why Dual Blades is so fast and flashy.

Pistol scrappers? About 5 people asked for it, everyone else said it was a ridiculous idea.

    I don't want to see co-op supergroups.
I think that the groups in the Rogue area should be separate from both sg and vgs. They should be rougegroups.
That goes for the Markets and Vaults as well. You should get frisked on the way in and on the way out to strip you of what you have on you.

Well, that'd make it pretty much worthless...
