So There has to be something els in this expansion. I already have a 50 so dont care about moving the epics to 20. So is all im getting out of this a few new missions and badge?................dislike*. lol someone please make my day better and tell me i missed something.
Frankly, you're blind if all you saw was shadows. True reflections in water and glass, reflective physics in the water surface, imperfections in the glass reflections, contoured reflexions on costume pieces and such, DETAILED shadows ( Which actually is quite a big deal ).... Lots more than just "adding shadows" ( which are already there )

  3. Eh, to me, if playing the game isn't reward enough that you need a bribe to get to level 50, you probably aren't gonna be around long anyway...

Oh, please. Pointless grinds didn't make anything "not dumb", so lessening them isn't "dumbing down" the game. All excessive grinds do is make the game tedious.

And I don't agree that they should have left the epics at 50 "for the sake of those who already had to get to 50". That's just selfish, elitist nonsense.

But still you're starting out as better than the average joe. The hero of your own story. And that's a good thing.
And that's just it. A big part of the game is about going from "better than your average Joe" to "Superhero". Not everyone is an alien given super powers by the very sun and doesn't really have to work to know how to use his abilities best.
  6. Me, I'm for a bit of a balance. I don't want a game where I can just walk into any battle and know I'm (almost) certainly going to come out on top, but I also don't want a game where one slip will cost me the fight and I need to try over and over again before I finally win. I want a game where I will lose if I'm careless, but not one where I'll lose if I'm not perfect/lucky.

Here's an example of the graphics from a game I still play off and on these days after being introduced to it 15 years ago:

There's more to it than just a different animation. Making it work with all the body types, sizes, costume pieces, etc, etc without horrible clipping issues would be a huge undertaking. As has been shown in the past, just because it works on NPCs with limited numbers of scripted animations doesn't mean it'll work on PCs with a far wider range to be concerned with. The Bruiser summon is just a brief, scripted animation...

Yeah, well, copycatters are inevitable no matter what the power set is. No reason to put down the power set because some people lack creativity and respect for other people's IP.

You know, I actually would. MUDs can be a lot more flexible than these new fangled MMOs.

No, no. Go ahead and try to do things the game doesn't make easy concept-wise if you want. BUT, improvise. Adapt to the game, don't expect the game to adapt to you.
  17. Yeah, there are exceptions, but the game tends to follow the stereotypes more than the exceptions.
  18. Well, it's not City of Average Joes. It's based on superhero comics, and superheroes tend to be flashy.

That's the thing. They're not the same presiding dev team. They're a few members from the old presiding dev team and a whole slew of newer guys.

I know this is cliche, but why? Are they charging less for this expansion? (dunno yet).
Because CoV had to have enough content to be a game in itself. A standard expansion doesn't. And, really, I'd wager they will be charging less for it.

If it ends, there's something beyond the end even if it's a void. The "universe" may not be infinite, but space is. Time is also infinite.

Poiont of order: PS was NOT Cryptic at the time. Yeah, some of the top devs were part of Cryptic, but PS is a division of NCSoft and never was part of Cryptic.

With the information so far I'd say it is about 30-40% of what CoV brought to the table. If you can take full advantage of the graphical updates then maybe 50%+. Great start no doubt.
It is relevant that CoV -was- a stand-alone expansion, so it pretty much had to have more content...

But anything more, neh, I'll wait til it does lower, cause I'd expect more powersets then just 2 (what happened to ball & chain? or growth? why not add those?)
Several new zones, major graphics upgrade, new systems for side-switching, lots and lots of new lore, story arcs, and such, and you're complaining that there aren't enough new powersets........? Especially when one of the new powersets introduces a system to customize the damage type within the powerset, something which hasn't been seen before now and could possibly carry over to existing powersets in the future depending on how well it works.
