It is interesting that on several online games, including coh in certain circles, using toon seems to reflect ignorance or stupidity. Yet it is perfectly acceptable to shorten entire phrases like IMO, OMG, BRB, AFK, LOL, LMAO, ROFL. ROFLMAO, Bio break, LFT, LFM, OOC, ((OOC)), BBL, Gratz, etc, ect ect! We have no qualms abbrieviating just about anything to shorten our chats but "TOON" is taboo. -

There are alot of things about this game and it's players that drive me loopy. Catgirls, Fire/Kin roflfarmers, "Dark Lord Dark of Darkness" characters on blueside, to name a few. But there is one thing that has been slowly plucking at my nerves non-stop since I started my career of defeating enemies by bludgeoning them with my own health pool: People using the word "Toon". Maybe it's the childish, degrading nature of the term instantly calling to mind Bugs Bunny slapstick*, serving to remind me that I am in fact a 26 year old manchild playing a MMO instead of getting drunk and grunting at football games like a real man. -

So, I have been growing tired of this game and ventured out to check some others. I noticed many of these other games update and inform the player base of what is in store for the near future. CoX has been my only game for a while but I started straying...I still....hope to stay here but I digress. These other communities get news about what's coming out ; why don't we? We can all make a wishlist and post in a blog.
It's one thing to play the role of a journalist and report what's going on. Sure, some one guy can do that fairly well and fairly objectively (though never completely). I'll pay attention to that.
But it's another thing when there is a review, or a wishlist and it's all one guy's opinion. Get an editorial board made up of people who have been successful in the industry or who've done real research into what makes MMOs successful, *then* I'll pay attention.
Until then, anyone posting a suggestion in the suggestions forum has an equally valid point of view. -

I think his suggestion to make something as game-bending as being able to buy two primary powersets exclusively in the paragon market would cause the forums to explode. I know it was just an example, but anything on that scale of changing the rules accessible only to folks who buy it would not be well-received here, IMO.

I happen to part of a very insular, invite-only RP channel. Recently, someone invited a bunch of random people in and there was much anxiety by some members over inviting people who weren't "one of us" and might use chatspeak and so on. The unfriendliness and elitism were shocking. Contrast this with another channel dedicated to speed TFs that I'm also in, which was generally friendly and cooperative without drama. I left the RP channel soon after.
It's cliquish attitudes like this that have always made me think twice about joining any sort of RP supergroup. -

Addressing the bolded sections, 1) I believe a year or so ago NCSoft/Paragon Studios trademarked the name City of Heroes 2 or something along those lines (EDIT: here it is), and 2) that's assuming CoH1 is left running. They may well shut the CoH1 servers down as they're bringing CoH2 online. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happened, as I imagine it would cost quite a bit to keep both games running. Bigger studios might be able to pull it off, but I'm not sure NC/PS would be able to. I'm not sure what their situation is.
