Quote:You can see THB's build in his AV-soloing post. It's loaded up with purples and out of the reach of most players. He spent a ton to get it to that point, but... maybe he didn't have to spend quite so much?
Below is a more reasonable build. I pulled all the crazy-expensive stuff, but left several purple pieces in (no more unreasonably-priced than Kinetic Combats or LotGs). Net result? Several billion inf saved and not THAT much effectiveness lost. You could add in the big procs at a cost of another 1.5B or so and get back a chunk of what was lost, but I wouldn't say that it's necessary.
Unfortunately it looks like you don't have the new version of Mids yet? It's silly to pull Kinetic Combats and LOTGs, for one I doubt you could get the recharge for my attack chain without the LOTG's without severely sacrificing survivability (which you've already done by pulling Kinetic Combats) and enhancement values in said attack chain would be lacking without the slotting used. The FOTG -res proc in Orbiting Death and the purple procs in my attacks are also contributing a lot to my damage output- I doubt this would have been doable without them. -
Quote:I have to admit, I don't think I'm man enough to run a WS. It stings a liitle to admit this because 1) Pride 2) I lack the expertise and 3) Resources to pull off a decent build. With some regret I'm going to shelve the WS for the time being. I won't say never to a WS but I can say, "not right now".
I apologize to you that have posted here for wasting your collective time.
Oh man, that's the last thing I wanted to happen. It's just a bummer that you don't want to try playing Tri Form, the MFing Warshade really excels on any budget and it's a great way to familiarize yourself with the Archetype. Heck, I was Tri Form for quite a while, and I would suggest anyone who's new to Warshades play to 50 and start IOing themselves that way. -

THB - Do you have any other videos of your toon in action? +2x8 Malta/Longbow/Carnies/Arachnos/etc? Curious how it does with mob types with a wider variety of tricks.
Does anyone think something like this would be possible on a PB?
I wish I did, but as you might be able to infer from my screenshots my computer isn't the greatest (for lack of better words.) I've tried making videos many times, and it lagged me so badly I couldn't play.
However I can take down 54x8 Malta with bosses turned on, provided I get to the Sappers quickly enough.
Arachnos are doable on the same setting, but it's not something I can do every time I try- If there's more than one Mu boss in a group (not surprising) on top of a couple of Tarantula Mistresses it's hard to keep everything stunned before I can kill it. Granted I have taken out groups of 54x8 Arachnos, but some group arrangements do me in. -
I'm seeing lots of questions that could be answered by just looking at my build (in the OP) which a lot of you seem to be missing, so here it is again.
-No this is not a "just for AV's" build. This is my build, period.

Quote:Gotcha. Where did you post your most recent build?
Noticed your three Leadership abilities, are they necessary?
In the first post in this thread, on the bottom.
And yeah, I like having them. Maneuvers is contributing to my Defense numbers, and it takes an LOTG 7.5% enhancement. Tactics is two slotted with recticle's for an s/l bonus, and Vengeance not only takes an LOTG 7.5% but also allows me to softcap my defense to all damage whenever a teammate dies. -
Jeesus, awesome job dude. You just pounded her down in Dwarf? Ya got balls, that must've taken forever. Maybe if I find a mission with enemies who don't have defense debuffs and bring a tray full of big red inspirations, I can take her down at +4.
Edit: I just noticed you used fluffies, which isn't a bad thing but I'm wondering how you pulled it off- I tried with them and when they weren't dying, they were attacking my food instead of the AV. -
-
Quote:But... how will I get my usual kickbacks if the prices decrease?
Well, time to start earning those cutbacks
As my Prime Minister, what will you do to either eliminate the lag on the wee little Praetorian Invasions, or make them stop happening if the Dev's don't plan to make them function properly?
That's right. I'm here to ask the tough questions. -
Well I doubt you'll be able to solo level 53 AV's without more damage output... I don't think you'll have the recharge for my attack chain (s blast>g well>s blast> e drain) and your enhancement values for those attacks are sort of poor. I know you don't want to take forms, but if you're looking for the most 'bang' for your buck, on your budget Tri Form will be much more powerful.
Eclipse needs accuracy slotting. The best way to slot it is with 2 Nucleolus Exposures (Enhances Damage Resistance and Accuracy) and 2 recharge IO's. I know you're chasing the s/l defense but there are better ways to get it.
You're definitely going to want Unchain Essence, it's an awesome power and skipping it will cost you a lot of AOE damage. Stygian Return is also nice to have, it has a nice invulnerability period that will give you time to turn your toggles back on, it will rez you to full health and endurance if there are enough enemies around (which there usually will be) and it's pretty much always ready if/when you need it.
Shadow Slip to me is a waste of a power choice, but I just don't care for travel powers... It would be sort of ok to take it on a Tri Form build for me since they tend to have more 'free' power picks, but you're already skipping important things and picking it up.
The Kismet tohit IO isn't really necessary, Mire already gives you a massive tohit bonus. I guess it can't hurt, but if you take it out of combat jumping and put your stealth IO in sprint, you can three slot an LOTG set (7.5%, def/end, def/end/rech) for a regen bonus and better defense values. You'll hit the cap on the 1.12% HP bonus, but I would honestly drop s bolt down to 1 slot and use those elsewhere.
Stygian Circle is overslotted and slotted for the wrong thing. Either put one Perf. Shifter +end in there, or 2 Efficacy Adaptors in there for the HP bonus.
The recharge bonus in Orbiting death is nice, but I don't think it's worth the crappy endurance values. You're going to be hurting in prolonged fights without a lot of Stygian Circle food.
I guess I can see why you want all these resistance toggles (for AV's?) but I don't even think you'll have the endurance to run them against single targets so it's sort of futile. You might as well drop Tough for Kick, I think you'd get more use out of the extra Kinetic Combat set.
Gravimetric Snare seems overslotted, if anything I would use it as a mule for a purple immobilize set. It shouldn't be in your attack chain anyways, and frankly you'd probably get more use out of Provoke.
Honestly I tried to rework your build but I still hate it. I can't say I recommend playing Human Only if you don't plan to invest in all 4 purple damage sets, at the least. It doesn't become crazy awesome until you've reached a certain point of investment. -
Thanks guys.
Quote:What you'll be missing most is the burst damage, particularly burst AoE. Generally, a Nova only needs three AoEs to wipe up a spawn, so consistent DPS is never a factor for consideration.
Quote:I don't think they can do it as well. Dwarf Antagonize is many times stronger than Provoke can ever be, plus it is autohit. Nova form has AoE damage powers for every spawn. A human only shade will also be more likely to rely on things like Clarion or Break Frees.
This is just my personal experience... Granted, though, I don't feel Human Form is any more reliable on Break Free's in certain situations than Tri Form is reliant on purple inspirations in other situations- We can't kill things if we're stunned, you can't kill things if you're dead.
Quote:If you are exemplaring to levels below Eclipse, then in my mind a tri-former is hands down the better pick. -
Man, having my main vacationing on a different server is really messing up my routine. I will make up for my lack of presence thus far by being around and about this weekend on my Peacebringer, who will have to do as my welcomer for the time being.
-
-
I don't know if it makes a difference to the general population, but I just confirmed that the enemy group on the mission I used have a defense debuff, which would explain my need for Barrier/Demonic Aura/Purple Inspirations. I'm sure that I could still solo a level 53 AV without any of the above if the enemies didn't debuff me. They were able to stack my 35% s/l defense down to -20 and beyond on x8, which is the setting I used for the mission.
-
The 'brag book' thread is pretty dead, but I would want my own thread for this anyways.
I used the AE Arc created by @AIB, Warshade Heaven, and soloed Bobcat as a level 53 Arch-Villain. I did not use any sort of pets, including Lore pets, and I did not use Incarnate/special inspirations or temp powers (That means no envenomed daggers.) I also did not use Judgement.
I did have t4 Reactive Interface and t4 Spiritual Alpha, which means I was 50+1 soloing an AV 2 levels higher than me. I also used my t3 Barrier, and Demonic Aura.
I went in with an inspiration tray full of small purples only, and used what dropped as I felt it was appropriate.
This is the build I used, and the one I use on live:

Quote:Well, Astral hit 50 this afternoon and I opened up her alpha slot - but its going to take a few days at least (if not more) to get a T3 alpha crafted, let alone the other two level shift T3's, so later is probably better :-). I would imagine an all kheld lambda is going to need everyone with 3 level shifts, full pets and every bit of incarnate power they can get to make up for the lack of debuffs.
Well, Septipheran will be back from his Virtue Vacation in about 2 weeks- He has a tier 4 reactive with a 25% chance for res debuff, his Warworks have -Regen, and he has a FOTG Res Debuff proc in his damage aura. Also- A couple of Brutes duoed Lambda so I think with the right people and the right slotting will allow us to successfully complete the trial.
A good mix of Warworks and Seers would be wonderful: -Regen and Psi damage plus my stacked res debuffs and anyone else bringing Reactive to the table should make it more than doable. -
Quote:My Tri-form Warshade, Ms Terry, has all four powers from the Medicine Pool, and gets quite a lot of mileage out of them too.
So make that a drop from 2 to 1.
My Warshade is an evil soul ripping creature who feeds off of corpses and gets stronger by devouring his enemies... he doesn't condone the ideas of sunshine, rainbows, or helping others. -
Quote:Its the switching forms back and forward that boggles my brain i use a ten key play style where 0-9 is my top bar shift + 0-9 is my middle bar and ctrl + 0-9 is my bottom row. since i'm primarily a melee AT player top row is my attacks second row is aura's and botoms is misc usually travel powers run rest teleport powers (pocket d base mission) and because of how i'm accustomed to playing i cant find the right power set up for when i tried tri form on my pb.
Set up form shift binds. When I played my Khelds tri form, I kept all my human form attacks in tray 1, nova attacks in tray 2, and dwarf attacks in tray three, and then set up "gototray" binds when I switched forms. -

Quote:It might be fairer to players who purchased the expansion under the impression that it would grant them access to certain content without paying a subscription. No such players exist, though.
Well, when you think about players who purchased the expansion because it allowed them access to certain content, and who were also told that they would never lose anything they purchased in the past, yes... Such players do exist. And a lot of them are making noise in this thread. -
Quote:The question should be, "Would it be more fair to players who purchased the expansion, under the impression that it would grant them access to certain content?"It wouldn't be particularly fair or unfair, its just something they could do. Would it make them any more money? Probably not. Would it take additional code to just allow access to the Alpha slot (and no trials)? Probably.
So on balance, there doesn't seem to be that much reason to do it. -
Quote:Here's the best part. I really don't have much of an opinion about it. I am not opposed to it, and I don't see any harm in it, but I also don't think it's a big deal if they don't. Could be a good thing to drive more subs, or it might not matter.
I mostly got drawn into this thread in a vain effort to inject some sanity into the semantic argument, mostly in the hope it would stop
Heh, when it comes down to my personal experience I'm in the same boat as you... I guess it is, overall, a silly argument- But the fact remains that some people are obviously bothered by it enough, and feel that their argument is a strong enough one, and I agree with them.
The semantics come into play when other people take something that was vaguely and (quite frankly, poorly) introduced and defend it as if that were not the case. It's not a matter of right and wrong, it's a matter of people having a pretty valid concern and others doing everything they can to dismiss it.
Now, as a compromise, I see nothing wrong with everyone supporting Alpha Slot Access for Premiums who have purchased GR. Not the whole system- If they want that, I'm totally ok with having a subscription requirement. However, people who are unfamiliar with trials collecting shards during TF's isn't going to negatively impact VIP players' Incarnate progression during trials in any way, so really what is the harm, considering that many of these people obviously feel they were misled during their past transaction. It's an easy fix for a sticky situation. -
Quote:Once again, you bought a prerequisite to the Alpha slot. There are other prerequisites, but you're not trying to make a case about them, so it seems that you're not understanding this point.
Feel free to give an example of a similar situation. It's not a matter of not understanding, it's a matter of disagreeing. Just because someone doesn't have the same take on something you do doesn't mean that they are incapable of comprehending your divine intelligence. -
Quote:This is getting ridiculous, and obviously no one is going to change their mind about the way they perceive the situation... All of that considered, once again: Do you not think it would be fair if Premium players who purchased GR got access to just the Alpha Slot?Let me then call up another part of my own post, just to reinforce the point about the ridiculous semantic deep dive we're continuing.
My context was meant to convey at release. In fact, I used that phrase elsewhere in my post.
If you go out and buy CoV today, it refers to features that no longer exist, like base raiding. That's why the boxes also have a disclaimer on them about online features being subject to change. -
Quote:When I bought City of Heroes there were Kheldions. Should I get those for free? When player X bought City of Heroes there was a mission architect, should they get that for free?
They obviously didn't pay for the game solely because it granted them access to those features. There are people, myself included, who paid for GR specifically for access to the Alpha Slot.
