*Spits on the ground,* You Blasters really are worthless, huh?

Quote:Well, depending on whether or not we have any new kheldian 50's, we should probably do the WTF so people can get a well notice. If we don't, then....
Hmm...
Maybe the STF?
Or, if that's too high, maybe a Sister Psyche or Citadel? I'd like to do a Hess, but I don't believe I have it unlocked.
Apex! Apex! Apex!
No, I picked last week. If we have to do another sloth-like low/mid level Hero TF I will not complain. (That's probably not true, but I'll suck it up.)

Quote:That's a pretty weird question, honestly. I've built a certain way to get my performance where I want it, so if you take anything away it will obviously not perform the same. Mine is a high end build that uses very expensive enhancements for a reason- If its' performance could be replicated on a smaller budget I wouldn't have bothered investing so heavily. The same is true for every high end build in the game.Question:
Does your build function without all the purples or is it really purple dependent?
Quote:Also would it level well or is it really an end game build only? -
Quote:Right, but to follow your metaphor, you also can't bring a knife to a boxing match. As a fighter I can use any move I know to win (will in some organizations) yet using drugs is not going to fly. Temps, pools, and incarnate powers are nothing but learned moves.
Like I said I will think about the Destiny issue, but there's no way I'm allowing Judgement or temps. It's just not gonna happen.
Quote:though I think people should remember this is THB's hard earned money, and he'll spend it as he wishes. -
Quote:Heh, I would be hard pressed to work a travel power into my build- I just get by with fly. I feel I have plenty of AoE with Foot St... Er... Hand Stomp, Detonation, and P Scatter but to each their own. My Peacebringer is completely airborne so if I'm teaming with Melees I can usually neuter my KB by hovering above mobs. My ST chain is G Blast>R Strike>G Blast>I Strike... And yeah, my PB is easily my second favorite character after my Warshade. OOdles of fun.Yes.... My Hasten, Light Form, Inner Light and Essence Boost are perma. My Reform Essence also recharges every 16 seconds for 616hp. I also got spring attack and I love it for big teams. I picked up Leaping power pool so I can use it for slots. Superjump has a KB resist IO and Combat Jump has a LoTG 7.5% and a KB resist IO. I figured since I already have 2 of the leaping it wasnt much of a stretch to get Spring Attack. I got the recharge down to 30 seconds. My attack chain for big mobs are Inner Light + Spring Attack + Proton Scatter + Solar Flare + Luminous Detonation. It seems to work well.
I also put a Ragnarok (Chance for Knockdown) on my Luminous Detonation and it seems to split it where some of the mob gets KB, some get KD, and some do not move. I wish it made all a KD. I said this before, I love my PB and have the most fun playing him. -
Quote:Unfortunately the same argument can be made for just about anything- People earned those Envenomed Daggers and Ultimate Inspirations by some means also but I'm not allowing them either.ike any other power that is earned or achieved, if they have it, it is part of their natural attack chain. For that matter so is judgement. I can see disallowing Lore, because at that point it is not the scrapper doing the damage, but a pet. I do suggest allowing the rest though. They earned it (just like any power or IO) so why remove it?
Good luck though!
I don't want this to turn into an Incarnate Power debate but I guess it's sort of hard to avoid. The Rebirth point is noted and I think a valid argument has been made for it that I can see, but I still need to think it over a bit. -
Quote:That is a nice build.... I will check it out on mids when I get home.
My PB only has:
12% Damage Buff
1469 HP
171.25% recharge
3.57% endurance
85% resist (with perma Light Form)
**regen and defense is not worth mentioning. I never slotted for defense on my PB and I might looking into that later.
yeah you should definitely give my build a look, even without spending as much as I am you can still get your defenses looking pretty nice without hurting your effectiveness at all- It's a big help in soloing ridiculous enemies and overall survivability. Also in terms of the damage buff don't forget that Inner Light can be made Perma. -
Quote:How do you plan on boosting your damage? Are you planning on using enhancement boosters?
Nope. I'm just gonna beat the crap out of them.
Have you seen my Peacebringer's build? I still need to pick some things up for it, and I'll probably bring a tray full of medium reds and blues (for damage and the light form crash.) -

Quote:The only thing is many people build around destiny now, and which destiny you pick can make a big difference. Not being able to use rebirth could be a huge detriment to an sr, for example.
The main thing I'm worried about is people using Ageless to get an unnatural attack chain going, it makes me feel sort of icky about the whole thing. The other ones I don't have a real issue with, but it would feel weird just disallowing ageless and allowing the others.
Quote:I won't be attending, but to play devil's advocate: Just as some folks use reactive to get DPS where they want it, I've used destiny to get recovery where I want it on some of my builds (not to mention Ageless gives a nice recharge boost). I could also see folks (such as the aforementioned /SR scrappers) dropping aid self from their build with the availability of Rebirth.
I'm not trying to convince you it should be allowed, particularly, but I am curious as to your reasoning for disallowing it.
You have a point on the rebirth justification, but once again: ageless is just making me feel icky. Even the recovery thing, I'm just not sure how I feel about people making builds with gimpy recovery that relies on Ageless to get by, whereas reactive just makes a natural, sustainable attack chain do more damage I feel Ageless is too much of a cheap power. -
Quote:Why not do this on the test server? So we don't have to waste 2 transfers per character to compete?
This is only one part of an event being put on by a friend of mine on my home server. We're having it there because we play there, and anyone is definitely welcome to participate whether you're from Protector or not, but the event is still taking place on Protector.
-
Because I know a lot of people use Reactive to get their DPS where they want it and I'm ok with that. Judgement I just feel is cheap. Destiny I was originally going to allow but decided against it, but if you can convince me why you think it should be allowed I'll think about changing my mind.

I've posted some more info about the Pylon contest here. Everything sounds awesome, this should be a fun time!

Hey Scrappers! As part of the Naughty or Nice event on Protector (Starting on 12/2/11) I will be funding a little friendly competition open to level 50 Scrappers of any alignment. This will be going down at 5 pm est.
The prizes will be as follows:
First Place: 1 Billion inf.
Second Place: 700 Million inf.
Third Place: 300 Million inf.
If I see a big enough turnout for this, I will also be filling my tray up with a bunch of random purple enhancements and passing them out at random to people who show up to participate in the event.
Each participant will take down a Pylon one at a time, and prizes will be awarded for fastest completion in the amounts listed above. There is no maximum number of participants as we have a three hour window to run the event, but only one entry per person is allowed.
Updated: Now, there are some restrictions that will be in place. I may have to update this in case I forget anything, but as of now they are:
-Level 50 Scrappers only.
-No Judgement or Lore Pets (Interface and Alpha are ok- After seeing how vocal the community was about this, Destiny is ok too.)
-No inspirations.
-No Temporary Powers (Accolade powers are ok.)
-No do-overs.
-If you're playing a Dark set and you need to gather minions for optimal performance, it will count as part of your time.
-One character per person may enter the contest.
If you're interested in participating, either sign up in this thread, send me a PM, or send me a tell in game- (@Septipheran)
I will be updating this post with a list of participants, just make sure to get your Scrapper over to Protector by December 4th! You should have plenty of time to hold onto a free server transfer.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see a lot of you at the event!

I wouldn't piss on your cheerios if you weren't playing such a superior and awesome Archetype! The only reason I said anything is that I think you can do it without the pets. Think of it as motivation to achieve more, not a detriment to what you've already done. -
Pft, using inspirations (aside from the uber Incarnate ones) is nothing like using Lore Pets- If that was a slight at my Warshade soloing a level 53 AV on x8 with enemies who had enough -def to take my 35% s/l defense down beyond -20, yeah, I used small lucks to counteract it, and whatever reds happened to drop in order to expedite the process. hardly the same as using pets who have the DPS to take down an AV by themselves. -
Step 1: Ditch Lore Pets
Step 2: Do again.
I have plans to go Monster Hunting on my Human form PB when I finish my build up in a week or two. I have faith that you can take an AV down with your native damage. Cool costume though! -
Quote:Make an ill/rad/psi controller with perma phantom army and perma indomitable will!
Expense List:
Purple Sets:
Hold
Confuse
Ranged Damage
Targeted AOE damage
2 pieces of the pet set
LotG: x5
basilisk's gaze set 4pc
decimation 5pc
Enzyme hammi's x3
Can toss in pvp heal set x5 for radiation aura and also throw in the pvp uniques for lawls
And that's just off the top of my head! Should run you up a bit of a tab
Ill/Cold with perma PA/Perma Heat Loss would be way more epic. -
Another problem I've thought of to add to the list- Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but the KB in Shadow Blast needs to be removed. The description for the power says it is KD but I can confirm that it KB's enemies 2 levels higher than my Warshade, possibly more. This is a problem because the other two attacks in the Human Form ST chain (G Well and E Drain) are melee range and cannot be executed if the target is KB'd without repositioning.

I've been trying to dream up the perfect powerset combination for my Void Hunter themed character for a while, and this is striking me as a pretty good way to go. Here's the thing, though- I haven't picked up the Beam Rifle yet. That's sort of why I'm posting this.
I know Dark Manipulation is going to require some active blapping, and I'm wondering how that would synergize with how Beam plays. I would answer this question myself, but I don't want to spend the 800 points until I know what I'm getting myself into, y'know?
If this ends up being a good combo, or one that becomes good/shines excessively on a high budget, that won't be a problem. I would be willing to invest in the character pretty heavily. I played around in Mids a bit and came up with a theoretical final build goal but once again I'm not sure how efficient it would be since I don't know much about BR.
I figured ~18% across the board for defense since it will stack with the -tohit from /Dark and 50% s/l resistance. I also worked recharge up around the 180% mark for lots of consumption (assuming this will be a pretty end heavy set, especially with how I've built) and oodles of Soul Drain for maximizing damage.
Now, assuming the sets work well together, does anyone know what the optimal single target attack chain would be? Is it best to use only Beam attacks and ignore the melee's from Dark (aside from possible set mules) due to the disintegration effect?
I appreciate any help with this, I'd like to get some general response before I post the build I've worked up so that I can correct any possibly poor decision making on my part once I get some better insight on the subject. -
Also an Illusion/Cold Controller would probably be an awesome character to invest massive amounts of inf into.
-
Quote:MFing Warshade. The more you add to it, the more obscene it becomes.
At that high end budget, though, a human only warshade also becomes a very viable build as well.
Yea I was gonna say Human Form Warshade, or even after recent changes a Human Form Peacebringer. -
Quote:Fair enough,my fluffies are my 6 key and Unchain is my 7 key, so I usually just tap them in quick succession but to each their own.I don't want to do it that way, because in a big battle if anything happens after I hit Extraction and before I hit Unchain I sometimes lose the target I intended. I can just hit Extract again, but it's faster to have one button I can hammer to get the target and power I want.
Also, if I ever want to use Unchain BEFORE Extract when Extract happens to be up, my bind is a better way.
But yeah, I remember having a conversation (with Microcosm I think?) a while ago along the lines of the issue you're having- I think that there is only a certain amount of functions that can happen with one key press- You can use the same key fine enough, but it needs multiple presses. The conversation I'm referring to was about a double Mire bind, back when I played with forms. /bind key powexectoggleon black dwarf$$gototray 3$$powexecname black dwarf mire required me to press the key twice, once to shift and again to execute the mire. This could be a similar situation methinks. -

Just press your Dark Extraction button, it'll target a corpse automatically.. That means you can press Unchain directly after.
