(Before you ask, yes this was the catchiest title I could come up with.)
The purpose of this thread was to let everyone on Protector know that I would like to lead "Master of" Incarnate trial runs every Saturday.
I know we only have a select few trials available to us as of now, but that works out well for:
A.) People who miss a certain week.
B.) People who would like a certain badge on more than one character.
I would have added a C.) If we fail, But you guys know better than that. No failing allowed!
Tonight, I lead a successful Master of BAF. Next weekend, Saturday October 29, I will be forming a Master of LAMBDA. The weekend after that, I will be forming a Master of the Underground. The weekend after that, I will be forming a Master of Keyes Island Reactor.
Once they've all cycled through, I'll be going back to BAF and repeating. This will be happening every Saturday at ~8:00 pm Eastern Time, but time is definitely flexible- If people need a certain badge but aren't available at a certain time I am more than willing to work that out. I just wanted to start this thread up to let everyone know that I planned to continue doing this.
I will be reserving a couple of posts to elaborate on the strategies I use for Master runs on all trials currently available to us. I know that other people have their ideas on how to do things, and that's perfectly alright, but I plan on leading these runs based on what works best for me, after many a horrible and fantastic experience. If you plan to participate, this is how things will be run. -
Heh, I absolutely despise the sounds for glinting/ebon eye. It cuts right through me... That's about it though.

If you level up a Tri Form Warshade you should have zero endurance problems, with the exception of when you fight single targets. You'll never run a single toggle though, and Stygian Circle recharges pretty fast even without IO's.
-
Are the changes going to affect how quickly SS/Fire's hit 750? I s/l farm with my Warshade, he was clocking just over 2 minutes a run but when the rezzes got nerfed and I switched to /SR enemies he slowed down to around 3 minutes. I farm to 750 and reset, 53 with bosses goes a little faster than 54's.

Quote:Funny, I was thinking of making a weapons-based DA brute, and what do I see?
Kind of a general question I suppose, but while this build is great and fancy at 50, I'm sure, how do you pick powers and slot along the way to make leveling as painless as possible?
Honestly I was suffering with my endurance. I wasn't able to run more than say 2 toggles at a time until SO level. Dark Armor is the biggest endurance hog I've ever played, I didn't start thinking there was any hope for it at all until the mid 30's... The only reason I made it to that point at all is because Spin is such an awesome power, but I'm glad I stuck it out. -
For skipping Kheldian Fridays again, Speedy is hereby banished from the Council. *bangs gavel*

For the record...
AIB stands for Alien in Black. (cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_in_Black)
One pronounces my title correctly when he or she speaks each letter clearly and distinctly.
Contrary to the uninformed opinion of some (names withheld to protect the guilty) , it is not to be pronounced "Abe" or "EyeB" or "AhEEEB" or any number of other random variations.
I refer you to the following song...

That's right. AIB - Alien in Black - Galaxy Defender!
If you wish you may call me Mr. AIB.
I thank you in advance for your understanding and compliance.
k Abe.

Quote:Is this why you were wanting my picture?
Fascinating work of art. I like it. But, you do realize that I am supposed to be "all forms at all times."
One thing though...
I don't get the "I don't get it..." comment.
Haha, it's actually my masterpiece. Stone said something to me about giving another acronym the "AIB treatment," and I had no idea what he was talking about (something about homonyms, I think) so that brilliant work of lifelike art was my response. -
Second build I posted is what I'm going with- Made some slight adjustments that aren't really worth posting. The character is still a few levels from 50 so I'll probably end up doing a little more tweaking here and there as I catch things in game once I start slotting it up.

Thanks! Like i said to THB I sacrificed some of that "perma" for increased defenses. The way I see it, with inspirations dropping like candy, my resistance toggles, and two self heals, going for defense instead of a few more seconds of LF would help my survive more...especially when exempt (that's one of my focus points.) If u noticed I have all of my defense bonuses BEFORE I grab light form.
If you're talking about my Warshade, I didn't sacrifice perma anything. He has 45% s/l defense and 166% global recharge. Perma Eclipse with overlap, perma Mire, and 3 fluffies up at a time providing they don't die. I'm not posting my new build but I'll PM it to you if you haven't seen it yet. -
I just nabbed Soothslayer and thought it was kind of clever.
-
It would make more sense to me if you stopped chasing ranged defense and focused on actually reaching the softcap for s/l... Let me tell you that the difference between that last 10% noticeably increases survivability. I would also much rather have more than 135% global recharge but I guess that's personal preference.
All in all this build is looking alright. I'm currently at a crossroads with my PB's build and still haven't figured out the best way to get it exactly how I want it, so you're at least ahead of me in that respect if you're happy with what you came up with.
edit- I'm wondering how you plan to pick up the Gladiator's Armor IO. If you plan to use alignment merits, you should also be able to save up the cash in the meantime for purple sets- It just makes sense that if you're going to make that much of an investment in such a pricey IO that you might as well go all the way. -
Quote:We should all dress up in alien costumes! As this week marks the start of the spookiest event of the year, I figure what better way to spend it than with a group of kheldians! And so, this Friday, get prepared to re-deadify some zombies!
Note that the maximum team size will be 4 people, so we will have multiple teams.

Quote:My answer is very clear and on topic (obviously not to you though). I am hoping the OP understands that without nova the Peacebringer is at somewhat of a disadvantage keeping at range. If I was someone who had a play style suited more range attack I would stay away from PB absent of Nova. I was simple stating what my opinion is if I was in his/her situation.
BTW Aneko, your post is very off topic as well as not even remotely related to the OP's question. Please take the trolling elsewhere.
For what it's worth, I thought your response was more relevant than the majority of responses to OP's on these forums- I would even call it completely on topic.
Your opinion is totally valid but something to keep in mind is that Human Form actually has access to more ranged attacks than Nova, and they do comparable if not even more damage. You have the targeted AoE, the Cone, a choice between 3 ranged ST blasts, and a pseudo-nuke in Photon Seekers that can be used at range.
Still though, I think skipping solar flare and the blaps is a bit of poor decision making- The PB's ability to function at range and in melee is something that I really enjoy about mine, for instance. I also play my PB completely airborne (I'm one of the few who loves the Solar Flare change for this reason) so that I can quickly move in and out of melee, and position my aoe attacks from above to help downsize my KB. -
I'd be pretty uncomfortable if Purple/PVP IO's were sold in the Paragon Market... I can see the point that third party RMT shouldn't be enabled and this is a way to circumvent it, but I hardly think that these kinds of measures should be taken to prevent something I have literally never encountered in game.
The reason I have a problem with paying cash for the best enhancements is that simply put, a lot of people (myself included) have worked very hard to get some of that nice stuff.
If this ever happens I can say that I will never post up any of my personal builds on the forums again, for example. As of right now if anyone wanted to copy a really nice build (or aspects of a build,) it would require an investment of time generating the funds to do so. Now, what, any Jo Schmo can see something, shell out some cash for it, and bam! It's theirs.
I've heard the argument that no one else should have an impact on how I play the game, but the reality is that this sort of would. I have some stuff I've picked up and used effectively that took me time to get, and I'm proud of that.
For instance, I saved up Villain Merits for 2 months for a level 10 Gladiator's Armor IO. It took a long time and I felt like I earned it. If everyone could go and shell out 10 bucks for it, that would invalidate some of my game time to me. Now, if you don't/wouldn't feel the same way, that's perfectly fine- This is just how I feel about the situation and I wanted to take a minute to express that. -
Quote:Well I think most people who maximize their attack chains take the time to have well rounded builds that account for having enough recharge and recovery to implement said attack chain in the first place. And yeah especially for a Kheldian taking out mezzers first is important, but say for things like Arachnos' Mu bosses/Tarantula Mistresses eliminating the threat as quickly as possible (via an optimized attack chain) is going to be a great way to handle that situation.Other factors? Total recharge time; holes in attack chains; ability to quickly remove individual key targets; endurance cost; positional requirements. My point is that pure DPA does not determine an optimal attack chain. You can build to have truly extreme cases of recharge like say, Dual Blades' three-attacks-that-don't-combo, but that's not what we're really talking about.
Quote:Now, you're right; for a large hard target like a 53, DPS is very important. But DPA is part of what makes up optimal DPS; it does not necessarily dictate the whole of it. -
Quote:Like... What factors? I don't think much else is involved with "put your highest damage attack chain on the AV," for example. If I hadn't bothered finding a good ST attack chain for my Warshade he wouldn't be the level 53 AV soloer that he is today.Sure, me neither. But I don't think that you get more out of your character by obssessing over DPA. There are too many other factors involved.
-
Quote:Radiant Strike has a fast animation - 1.07, in fact. So 346 DPA vs 214 DPA.
Though honestly, anyone who's that fussed about such things is, to my mind just wrong - this is a game more about burst than about DPS, and individual DPA routines are not meaningful enough to concern me, personally, unless the character is truly obssessive about maneuverability and fragile as a ball of tissue paper.
I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to get the most out of a character. You can still enjoy a characters' appearance, story, and want to maximize performance. Personally, that sort of stuff just interests me. I like to reach the potential of what I can accomplish, particularly with my favorite characters. -
Quote:Believe it or not, with reactive slotted the most damaging pb chain is 2 ranged attacks and one melee (RStrike>Blast>Bolt). RStrike is easily the best damage attack you can do, so you just have to decide if giving that up is worth it for you. If it's purely for concept, you can handle going ranged; if you're worried about damage, you might want to blap; if you're worried about survival...don't be.
Serious? I know incandescent strike has a long animation and all but it's still doing 708.4 damage with inner light up on my build, vs. 370.6 from r strike.I still haven't figured out how to check activation times in Mids and I'm not in game right now. -
If this is where we vote, I'll be supporting Layla in the election (That's how it works, right?
) She did an awesome job on Stone's place.
-
If they can make an Interface power that's better than or on par with Reactive Core Flawless, I will be stoked on that alone.

Quote:I guess I can see that- Just seemed to me that it would be worthwhile to try and get the most heal enhancement out of it as it doesn't seem like it will be particularly effective against AV's and there are many situations in game where there aren't always adds around. The damage from it isn't the reason Eradication is in it. Even when hitting eth ED cap for damage, DR's damage is pathetic.
It's slotted like that for the E/N defense bonus and Max End bonus in Eradication. You're going to be in the middle of a crowd most of the time when you fire DR, so the amount you heal per enemy isn't particularly important, as long as you get decent recharge and end reduction along with the ToE proc, you can slot it with whatever you want and it will remain just as useful. The fact that you can slot it with a set like Eradication for the set bonuses is just icing on the cake. -
If you're willing to spend enough, both time and inf wise, you want a Human Form Warshade. Not only will you be able to solo (level 53, possibly 54) AV's without regen debuffs, you'll also be able to solo groups like Malta on 54x8 with no end drain or status protection (barring Clarion, but even that's not strictly necessary with some break free macros) and what's more... You'll feel like you earned it. No toggle on and forget, your power will come just as much from your own intuition as the numbers you can achieve.
Purples and PVP IO's help a great deal, but if you're not aiming to go big game hunting, soloing the tough groups comes more down to dexterity than investment.
