The Preceding was a true story. Only the names were changed to protect the innocent...and to make sense in context of the current thread.

Now, if I could only recall where I'd heard that before.

Like your example "because they have better things to do than use spell check, it makes me feel like people are going out of their(the're/there) way to make themselves look better by trying to make me look worse"

When you use Their, that is the right one. Not the're or there. There is apposed to a position and the're is a shortned They are. It's simple to use the right verbage. Not looking down on anyone. Heck, even I have to look to my wife to spell simple things when I should know better. LMAO

I think that maybe, there might possibly be more than one Ship ghosting around Paragon. Or else it was beside itself with joy because it got its Holiday wish...
  7. I believe the lowest level powers you can have while exemplared is level 6. You can exemplar to a level 1 character and to their missions, right? If so, then...you're still using powers that you would have gotten by level 6. Which, coincidentally, is when PPs are opened up.

Personally, I would go with the not very useful crowd here.

Actually, they never said that it could not be done. They gave reasons why it wouldn't be feasible to spend a year working on just Power Color Customization(Henceforth known as PCC) to the exclusion of all else. They never said that they weren't working on PCC either. People assumed that it would never be done and called the Devs liars when the Devs surprised everyone with PCC.

They also gave us a little inside information into what all went into getting PCC accomplished. In addition to giving major kudos to the genius programmer who came up with the way to strip all the animations of their baked in colors. Which was the major roadblock to PCC in the first place.

BaBs is not saying that redraw elimination will never be released. He's saying that he has run into a roadblock and that it will take a little more work than he originally thought. Addmitedly, I haven't read everything about it because redraw doesn't really bother me.

The temp fly powers also totally negate the speed buff from Super Speed as well. As in, completely not buffed anymore, ever, so long as the Fly power is active.

So, you're still flying at around 25mph to get over that one obstacle that the GvE jump pack (in conjunction with Super Speed) would have gotten you over in half the time.

The Fly power from the Flight Power Pool is still faster than the temp fly powers. That's un-enhanced (Buffs don't count).

And, by your argument, Super Speed's cap should be lowered because it no longer has to deal with the vertical handicap.

Its just not quite as drastic a change in speed since Ninja Run doesn't boost running speed as much as Speed Boost or Super Speed.

My argument still stands that, other travel powers getalot more from temp travel then flight does, and even some combanations of temp powers and PP powers, and ninja run (granted you have to by it) is faster then fly. Being easier to use, IMO, is not justification for being 20 mph slower(round a bout) then the next fastest TP. (superjump)

I'm not asking for much here... i'm still willing to be the slowest... just not slower then none travel power builds...
Just so you'll know. The Temp flight powers are a lot slower than un-enhanced Fly at level 6. I think they start out at around 25mph, while Fly does around 38 or 40 mph. Also, you're speed is greatly reduced if you switch from Super Speed (or Super Jump) to a flight pack.

The only "benefit" a Super Speeder gets from a flight pack is the ability to go over some otherwise impassible obstacles.

Also, Aett Thorn was talking about the Temp powers not being able to use enhancements. There is a difference between Enhancements and Buffs. Your argument does not still stand.

In no sense whatsoever did I either say or even imply that you have to fight back (case #1) or that you have to attack a target you could two-shot or maybe three-shot kill from outside their attack range (case #2). What I asked, precisely and in as many words, was, "why wouldn't you?" And more precisely, what do you gain from running away to the base and exiting the zone that you wouldn't gain more quickly and more efficiently by just fighting them, win or lose?

And all that anybody can tell me that they gain when they do this is "I didn't PvP." OK. That's what, not why. Why is that so important? Seven humanoid mobs on the screen, one of which has a player behind the controls; why is it such an unimaginably awful thing that you'd give up on getting the Shivan, give up on whatever other badge you were there for, flee the zone altogether, rather than tab over to them and push a few buttons? "I don't want to." OK, I understood that as soon as they fled the zone. I didn't ask if they wanted to or not, I asked why not? "Because it's not fun" is an unresponsive answer; it doesn't explain what part of it is unfun or non-fun or anti-fun. By superspeeding away or stealthing up and flying away you've already decided not to have fun, you've given up for now on the fun you came to the zone to get. I'm asking about your plan B after your plan A (do whatever without seeing another player) has fallen through. Why is running away less unfun than either winning or losing?

Some people have answered with things that they're actually afraid would happen, thank you. But even those left me scratching my head. Someone was afraid that they might hit the other person a few times and the person they hit would leave. Didn't you want them to leave, in the first place? Someone else was afraid that if they turned and fought, three or six or however many other people would materialize out of nowhere and fight them. If they were going to do that, wouldn't they have done that at the start of the fight, aren't you worrying about something that obviously isn't going to happen? Someone else was worried that they'd turn out to suck at PvP and lose, but they didn't explain why getting sent to the hospital that way is more painful or unpleasant or humiliating than going to (or by) the hospital the longer, slower way of running away.

Which leaves it at "if I don't run away, I might fight another player, and that would be bad." And I remain as baffled as I ever was as to why that's so intolerable, so awful, that people would give up on what they obviously already wanted to do rather than risk it. *shrug* If I don't get an answer I can understand soon, I'll drop it and go back to thinking of it as one of life's mysteries.
Why do some people love horror movies and others don't? Why do some people adore romances and others despise that genre? Why do I like Mac&Cheese and my brother can't stand it?

Why are you unable to understand the simple fact that PvP will not appeal to everyone?

Is that enough questions for you to ponder the meanings of, or do you want me to find your answers for you? I'd even be generous and start with the last question first. I can gaurantee that you wouldn't like the answer.

I don't like PvP because of experiences that I have had in various PvP zones in CoH. Generally, being out numbered and repeatedly defeated when I never stood a chance. IE: Being AS'd by, not one, but two Stalkers while I was at half health in the middle of a fight with a group of Arachnoids in Warburg. I find that not fun.

I also find not fun, chasing some shmuck, who thought it would be fun to annoy me in RV, all over the freakin zone because he realized that maybe it wasn't such a great idea to take on a Robots/Traps Mastermind using a heavy to attack a pillbox. Only to experience him coming back a little later and do the same exact thing again.

Yet another thing I find not fun is getting dogpiled by half a dozen characters while I'm minding my own business attempting to get a Shivan Shard.

The only time I have even a hint of a pleasurable experience in a PvP zone was when I had taken a Pillbox in RV with my level 50 Ill/FF Controller and was promptly jumped by 5 villains. I managed to run them off and defeated 2 of them with the help of the pillbox itself. But, that wasn't enough of a "fun" expeience to counter the other dozen negative experiences that I've had in PvP zones in this game alone, not to mention all of the other MMOs that I've played that had PvP in them.

I am not afraid of getting defeated in PvP. I have PvP'd on occasion. Very rarely has it been anything remotely akin to a fair fight in my favor. Much less me overpowering them.

Something that I seem to recall most meleers in this thread taking a hard stance against concerning KB.

So, you're saying that its ok for 7 people to wait on that one person to take all the aggro, just because he's a melee character? Where as, a single character that uses KB has to wait for a specific set of circumstances to be able to enjoy the game?

You can. Its called being very discriminatory about what ATs and Powersets you allow on your team. Other than that, you'll find that some powersets will interfere with other powersets/ATs.

Or, you could worry less about how well you're "performance" is and enjoy beating the poggies out of the bad guys. Yes, I understand that some people enjoy the "challenge" of walking the wire edge between victory and defeat by taking on as many foes as they can conceivably handle.

    To each their own.

The entire team rolls through 52s and 53s (Longbow slows us a tad bit) quite fast enough. We don't even need a Brute. But, the player likes the character. He doesn't mind the fact that he's not gaining fury form the mobs that get locked down. He's just out to punch things and have fun.
