Quote:Nothing wrong with Oklahoma. I kinda miss it. The traffic is MUCH better than here in Los Angeles.I quit speaking in absolutes right after I said; "Why would I want to live in Oklahoma? I'll never live there." Two months later I was in Oklahoma.
I think God did it to spite me. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was after a few years. At least the traffic was better than here in Atlanta...
I try not to speak in absolutes. Mainly because I never know what will happen between now and then. I might have an idea, but no definite knowledge. -
Freedom is the only NA Server I don't have any characters on. I would be be put out if any of the other servers got merged, since I have upwards of 18+ characters on some of them. I might even be put out enough to not play the game any more, depending on which of my characters got deleted because of the "hypothetical" server merge.

Quote:Well, considering that I get to fire off a power about once every 5 minutes (Yes, I did exaggerate) when I get anywhere near one of those invasions. No, I did not see anything like that. I tend to stay as far away from them as I possibly can. Some of you may have even seen these tough customers flanking Emperor Cole himself during the server invasions...
Thank goodness for instanced missions. -
Quote:That has happened to me many times with PnP RPGs. Your RPing gets really intense when you're playing four separate characters with their own individual personalities in one campaign.I think it's that moment when your characters do or say something that surprises you - but you think about it and realise it's exactly what they would do. That's when you know you've made a great character, who's really become a person out of your control all on their own.
It's harder to do that here though. -
Quote:You are never too young to know about those cartoons...Dick Dastardly, of Hanna Barbera's Wacky Races.
(I should be too young to know this, but, being a pretty sickly child, I watched way too many cartoons as a kid.)
Um...
Ok, if you're 2.5 months old, you might be too young... -
Quote:It wouldn't be a real "How to know if..." thread if Steelclaw didn't post a list in it.Thank you - I would have been horribly disappointed at the thread without a list like this one!
(I've also seen the Vampire one before - back in the 90s - but it's more off-topic) -
Quote:Except, they're not really "needed" for the Incarnate Trials either. Otherwise, you'd have them available before being able to attempt the trials. And the only thing about the Incarnate slots (other than the Alpha slot) that cannot be used outside of the Incarnate Trials (to my knowledge) is the Level shifts. What they want is the Incarnate Slots, what they keep forgetting is those incarnate slots they don't want to unlock the fast and easy way, are only needed for the Incarnate Trials right now.
I have found that the Judgement slot has helped my game play in regular content that I play with my regular team a lot. the other Incarnate slots will help (to a greater or lesser degree) in the regular content as well when I team with my regular group that doesn't do any of the Incarnate stuff together.
Using the argument that the Incarnate slots are only good for the Incarnate Trials is not true, even in the slightest degree.
Trying to pass off the current "solo path" to the non-alpha Incarnate slots as a viable path to those slots is ludicrous. This is from a player that has been here for 7 years and only has 3 level 50s, and is in no rush to get more. I do not expect instant gratification. I never did. I just expect reasonable time frames/costs for content acquisition. -
Quote:I have been excluded from regular teams (several years ago) Just because my Defender wasn't an Empathy Defender. (More accurately, he wasn't a "Healer") Yes, exclusivity on the part of the players does exist in this game.Castle is gone, and was speculating. Positron is in charge of the endgame content. I'll take his word on it.
As for the hypothetical, it's not exactly germane. You are comparing an obvious act of exclusion to content (Apex or Tin Mage without alpha slotted is excluded, and that is merely common sense), to exclusivity on the part of the players.
Again, I really don't think they should have created the debuff playing option for the TFs since it just makes people paranoid about things. A strict limitation of no alpha, no enter, would have been wiser.
Fortunately, it isn't nearly as rampant as it was a few of years ago. -
Quote:From what I noticed, there are a total of 4 arrows. Each one will toggle the window into a different layout. I could be mistaken though. When I was trying it out earlier, it didn't seem to be doing that for me... one of them would toggle whether it showed all the spots or hide the empty ones, and the other would toggle between only showing 9 players with a scrollbar, or showing them all in whatever configuration the team seemed to be layed out in. I used both buttons a number of times, trying to figure out how on earth they worked, and it'd never do a horizontal layout...

Quote:So, the Praetorians ARE Insane! The point if the Lambda trial is sabotage. There no reason whatsoever that you can't sabotage a facility multiple times. There's really no overarching story to the trial. It's blowing up Cole's stuff to make his invasion harder to accomplish.
Likewise, there's no reason they couldn't keep trying the same scheme over in the B.A.F. each time figuring that there's only so many Primal heroes to stop us and maybe we'll get lucky this time.
Just in a predictable way.
Quote:So, in a war you would attack a target ONE time, and then leave it alone after they rebuild it?
That makes even less sense than it being attacked repeatedly.
However, I never enjoyed raids. I've been on a Mother-ship Raid once. Only to get the badge that was stupidly placed behind a shield so that it cannot be acquired unless there is a raid going on.
This is also why I am disappointed in the Incarnate system as it stands. It is, effectively, only for people who really enjoy raids. -
Quote:The Tanks aren't the only ones. My dominators tend to get a little crazy and start the fights for the teams I'm in.(why does it always seem to be a tank that gets a little crazy? No offense tankers I play the AT myself
Depending on the powers used, I might get hit with an alpha, but I tend to survive most of the time.
Quote:I know this is totally at a tangent, but I am not convinced that this particular belief is so wrong. I used to be of the opinion that respect had to be earned until someone pointed out something very simple.
The idea that your respect is so valuable that other people have to earn it suggests two things. One; that you think a great deal of yourself and Two; that other people should respect you instantly in order to want to gain your respect.
In my opinion respect should be a given. Yes, it is very easily lost and very hard to win back but to think less of someone because they haven't yet proven something to you seems rather... disrespectful? -
Quote:That's the only reasonable explanation for why you jump in the back of a truck and end up in a cave, with there being no pop-up explanation of why you jumped in the back of the truck. This is how multiple missions describe it in their entry pop-up. "The building above was abandoned, but you found a secret trap door which led to the sewers." In most cases, one should assume that where the instance starts isn't where the entrance door ends. You usually go through some distance of the interior of whatever you entered before you get to where your instance begins.

My most memorable fight was my Ice/Ice Blaster against Maestro. I did have a Controller buddy in the fight, but he went down almost before we really knew what was happened. I unloaded with everything I had. It cam down to the one hit on either of us would end the fight. We both hit. He hit with Scream, I hit with Bitter Ice Blast. He went down, then I went down. But, the mission was completed. Granted, it was completed a fraction of a second before my defeat. Still, a memorable fight.

Quote:Because Primal Statesman didn't give into the temptation to ignore/rewrite the existing laws?I think your looking at it the other-way-round. Why wouldn't he simply eliminate all the crime in the city in a single day, if he was as powerful then as he is now? Why not simply end WWII single handedly?
I like Superman for that reason alone. He's Mary-Sue powerful, but refuses to use that power to take control of the world, which he could, most likely, easily do. All because of his personal code of ethics. If only us lowly non-metas could do the same... -
Quote:Well, the Praetorians are just defending their home and way of life after sacrificing so much to keep their civilization afloat...by taking over the multiverse. What better way is there to protect your home than that?Instead, I'd write arcs from the perspectives of both Primal Earth forces and Praetorian forces. Primal Earth sees the Praetorians as the real bad guys and reckons Cole really is a power-mad dictator bent on... well, taking over the multiverse, while the Praetorians see themselves as just defending their home and their way of life after sacrificing so much to keep their civilisation afloat. I just think that would make for a more interesting story.

Quote:Agreed.Quote:Quote:Just last night my husband showed me a video someone shot on a camera-phone of some welfare mom in Panama City literally tearing apart a Burger King because they were taking too long with her order. At one point she jumped barefoot onto the counter - all the time wearing a blue-and-white bikini, no less, and started throwing everything she could get her hands on and generally tearing the place to pieces. My understanding is that she has been arraigned on felony charges.
People think they can behave like wild animals and do whatever they want these days. While I did make a joke regarding what armor and melee-sets the BK-berserker was sporting, really.... our society is headed for some scary places.
People have always been stupid. Now they're just stupid for the whole world to see.
Having been employed at McDonld's for 3 years, I have seen a lot of stupid coming and going.
Not to that degree, but there was still a lot of stupid.
And YaY! Quote pyramid! -

My Ice/Ice blaster has one that reads, "If you invite me, I will get you debt!"
Some people seem to see that as a challenge... -
Quote:andSister Flame has also taken on the role of CoX Mentor with her younger sister, now a fresh 7 years old. It is amusing to watch them play together and hear Sister Flame call out the targets. Most times, names work but with the more complicated ones, Sister Flame usually just says The one that looks like a punk with dark blasts or something to that effect. The two of them usually get a nice team going with their lowbies and run all over Atlas Park doing the same arcs over and over again. Plus, Sister Flame always honors her sisters request to take time out and go for a swim in the big pool.
Quote:She is also turning into a true hero at school. Shes come of her shell, so to speak, over the last year. She has no problem getting on stage to act or try out for a talent show. When she sees someone being treated unfairly, shes the first one to step in and try to make things right. All in all, she is my little geek that I am very proud of.
We need more people like Sister Flame around to show people how to act right.
Plus, there can never be too many comic geeks in the world.
My favorite is Green Lantern. -

Quote:That is because everything that goes wrong has the Well and Recluse's earwax problem to blame.I tend to suspect that it's gone through "cycles" of darkening. Which of course would make for interesting backstory and arcs and such to go through. Which means it'll probably be tied to the overflow of the Well and Recluse's earwax problem instead.
Even Nemesis Plots are caused, ultimately, by the Well.
The Well, is the script writer for evil plots.
I wonder which of the Devs is going to use "The Well" as a red name... -
Quote:Some people seem think that CoH "got it right" purely by accident.Pretty much this. If the road to the reward is a slog then it's not worth it.
So far COH has gotten this right. Let's see if they still have come issue 20. I'm betting on they have.
Judging by the way the original design team worked, I would have to agree.
Whether the current design team is working to correct that error or not remains to be seen.
