  1. Currently taking advantage of reactivation weekend, which got me looking at my AV soloing BS/SR Scrapper and was wondering how I could tweak him with some of the changes in I16 as well as that 3% defense PvP IO in I14 (assuming I could ever touch the thing). I don't have him finished slotting on live, and won't be able to until I'm able to play frequently enough again to justify resubbing. But, in the mean time, having an updated idea of what to adjust his build for would be handy.

Basically, I'm looking at two news APP powers: Physical Perfection and Melt Armor. Both would be awesome to have, but they are also both tier 2 APP powers, which would force me to sacrifice something somewhere to get them. Also, I only have the pair of slots in Conserve power to spare for the new power. But, I'm thinking that with Physical Perfection I might have limitless endurance all the time, which I technically do already if I use CP when I'm running low, and additional regen never hurts. However, Melt Armor would give a bit of a -def and -res debuff, which may boost kill speed. One of the issues I have with going those routes, however, is having to pick up potentially useless power. I already hate that I have Boxing and Stimulant and they do nothing but eat a power choice, but the powers I got help a little too much.

As said, I would need to sacrifice something. Most likely it'd be Confront (aka Super Jump in the below build, except at level 49, I didn't update it to account for that change). However, I find Confront to be rather handy for it's range debuff in AV fights (Confront, jump away, Aid Self without ranged attacks fired at me in the mean time or use it to avoid getting hit by Built-Up, Aimed, Followed-Up, Soul Drained, etc. attacks) and would be rather reluctant to give it up. Stimulant/Aid Self would be another option, since I don't need the healing, it's just very handy. If dropping that pair didn't free up two power picks, 5 slots, and a whole power pool, I wouldn't even consider it. Doing that I could keep things more or less as is and even pick-up Hasten, but the lack of a self-heal, even if it's a bit of a poor one. could really hurt.

Finally, that PvP 3% defense IO (IF I ever get one), I could slot it into Tough and then have enough defense to ditch Combat Jumping for something else. On the current build or if I dropped Confront for a tier 2 APP, I'd probably just switch it with Hasten. But, if I get rid of Stimulant/Aid Self, I'd have a total of three powers and even more slots to reassign, or even four powers if I got rid of Confront too. That opens up... a lot of possibilities, such as maybe even getting a decent AoE attack somewhere so I can handle multiple foes better when I team. Getting that IO may never happen, but I certainly want to have a plan in mind for it if I ever do nab one.

So, anyone have any ideas for what I should do, both without and with that PvP IO? Is Melt Armor or Physical Perfection worth pursuing? Or am I fine as is? My current build is below, with, again, one exception: move Super Jump to level 49 and swap it with Confront. By the way, I'd like to leave the other powers more or less the same, outside of taking slots from swapped powers and adding them to ones I had already taken.

Finally, just to give a bit of heads up, once reactivation runs out, I won't be able to reply to any posts anymore. I'll still read 'em though!

Additionally, we also conducted a mini-proliferation pass on the Ancillary and Patron Power Pools, adding 5th powers to most Pools and adding Blaze Mastery for Scrappers. This has been something which people have been asking for since Fire primaries and secondary's were given to them.
No details on what will be in it, but Scrappers are getting a new APP, finally.
  4. ...that the level 50 hp value of Scrappers be nerfed by exactly 1.6 points, that way their base level 50 hp becomes 1337. I think the reason why is pretty self-explanatory.
  5. What about stacking resistance debuffs? If you debuff a foe's resistance and then do it again while they're still debuffed, will the second one debuff based on the foe's current resistance or their normal, non-debuffed resistance?

No to this one. Optional filter? Sure! But always filtering? No thanks. I use search for other purposes, such as inviting people to SGs since you can't right-click their name in the chat box to do it. If they happen to be on a team or TF mode at the time, I wouldn't be able to do that.
  7. This is what I get for loosing track of time and falling asleep at 4 A.M. (5 EST) instead of around 1 A.M. like I planned. I overslept past the end of the marathon. Ah well, good job all you insane people and grats to Tsuki and Kyo for MVP. 10. That's always happened to me, now and prior, and works in reverse. If you activate a power before getting mezzed, the power will finish and, sometimes, you'll keep animating. They never interrupted attacks that were already "in progress".
  11. Minor spoilers ahead for those who may not have completed this TF.

After the second mission where you encounter Invincible Reichsman, the completion clue mentions that he defeated Statesman with ease. However, Statesman never shows up in the taskforce. Period. I think it'd be neat to make a minor change to the second mission. At the very end, when the mission completes and you have to run to the exit, have Statesman ambush Reichsman. He should probably tell the players to run while he deal with Reichs, to give a hint to the clueless players who don't know to run. In order for him to actually be beaten with ease, he should probably be no higher than boss class, maybe, just maybe, elite boss, but still marked as a Hero.

This way, we can actually see the Reichsman defeat States with ease, as the clue tells us. It'd make the mission a bit more interesting as well, in my opinion, and wouldn't help the players complete it, as the mission is technically over at that point.
  12. Hack, Disembowel, and Headsplitter have higher base damage and lower activation times than Boxing/Air Superiority, Jump Kick/Kick, and Flurry, respectively. They also reduce defense. Hover is also something to get rid of. Hardly anyone flies in PvP because it's a poor travel power for it, largely due to the abundant -fly. Plus... it's slooooow. Drop them for Combat Jumping or Jump Kick and Super Jump. You practically need speed-jumping for PvP since everyone else uses it. Without that combo, you'll have trouble keeping up, especially with ranged attackers. You'll either get outran and hit with -jump (Super Jump only) or out-elevated and be unable to attack back (Super Speed only). You also want to get Confront in there, as while the taunt portion isn't an auto-hit, the -range is. And it STACKS! And recharges quickly too. And, I agree with Mr. Liberty, at least on non-defense builds, Weave is pretty bad for PvP, except as a set mule.

For the APP, I'd say Weapon or Dark. Weapon has Web Grenade for -jump and -fly goodness and Targeting Drone for +tohit against defense builds and +perception for Stalkers. Dark, however, has Petrifying Gaze, which is a hold and useful for offensive detoggling fun. Trust me, even though they aren't common, a Radiation Emission/Dark Miasma/Storm Summoning Defender/Corrupter/Controller/Mastermind can make you very miserable if they land their debuff toggles on you and you have no way to get them off. You can also get Torrent for some knockback or Tenebrous Tentacles for a brief immobilize, but those are pretty optional. I also recommend a ranged attack, either Shuriken or Dark Blast. You could also go for Body for Conserve Power, Focused Accuracy, and Laser Eye Beams. But, with Stamina and Quick Recovery, you shouldn't need CP, FA you can get from Weapon, and LEB is just a plain old ranged attack.

I can't look at your slotting to get the set bonuses and all your hard stats since I'm on a Mac and, therefore, can't use Mids. At least, not without doing everything by hand for a couple of hours. So, I can't comment on those. And even then, my Regen experience is currently only up to level 6.

And finally, again, take Confront. Can't stress it enough. On my Defender I love attacking melee-oriented toons since I can dance around them and fire attacks with little to no retaliation. If they had Confront or Taunt, that'd make it MUCH harder for me to attack them, as I'd have to get in their reach to attack them, which is pretty bad for my health. You can also use it against melee toons with ranged attacks. If you need to recover or run for a moment, you can jump back while taunting them, preventing them from shooting at you as you get away. I recommend getting range and procs into that power, max ED compliant range if at all possible.
  13. Some tanks have a tendency to get agitated when the team does not stand behind them and follows their lead like trained puppies, even if it's not working. It's worse when a team member takes things into their own hands and does it successfully. They'll shout at you if you do anything they don't expect. In your case, your job to him was to probably cast bubbles on the team every 4 minutes. But, if you do something like what you did or use PFF to rush in and soak up an alpha strike without taking damage, you're doing something horribly wrong!

Some tanks, however, are much better and adaptable. For example, I was on a Terra Volta trial with a friend who was on a FF Defender. She'd Force Bubble everything into the many corners available before the reactor room itself and the tank would taunt them as they slid across the floor, after which mass AoE carnage ensued and we'd quickly have a dead mob with virtually no damage ever taken. And then when we did reach the reactor, she bubbled it and kept Force Bubble up, causing it to never take a single point of damage (at least that I saw) while the rest of the team went around happily killing everything we saw.

You did your job and that tank failed to recognize it. Hopefully, the team wiped after you were kicked due to your lack of being there anymore and he learned a lesson. But, even if it did, he probably retained his ignorance.
  14. Not to sound snarky, irritated, or any of the like. But, when announcing in-game that the servers are coming down and informing players to check the forums for details, please have a topic about it up before announcing in-game. The first thing I do, and I'm sure many others, is come over here to look for those details. Having them not up results in quite a bit of confusion. Though, in this particular case I'm pretty sure why the forums are coming down, since it sounds like that reason wiped out the whole population on Protector 20 seconds after the announcement.

Edit: They finally got the info to us. Glad they did, but I wish it'd be there at least at the time of the in-game announcement.
  15. Had an issue with a more experienced "healer". Was doing a Manticore TF with 4 Scrappers, a Blaster, a Controller, an Empath/Rad Defender, and myself a scrappy human-only Peacebringer. I looked at his powers and noticed he had a nice balance of everything, so I thought he'd be fine. I take the lead to soak up alpha strikes since, between my shields and the Scrappers and Blaster, my resistances are capped and, since we're all primarily single target damage, I freely let loose mob-scattering powers such as Solar Flare. It isn't long before the Empath is screaming at us to tighten up and stay around him like good little puppies instead of chasing down and making quick work of the enemies. At one point I deliberetly got on one side of a target so I could watch him and noticed, despite having taken many powers from it, was completely neglecting his secondary. A little bit later, the leader, who was a friend of mine and could play an Empathy Defender very well, asked him to stop trying to order everyone around and learn to play. He got ticked, but did as asked. Later though he apperantly was telling one or more members what to do in tells, as an arguement spilled into team chat. He quit in frustration. We then went to finish the TF with even less trouble than we had with him on.
  16. I've ran into some Electric PPs who also had MoG, though I've only seen them in the Shadow Shard.
  17. Even on my squishies, I don't have any issues with this new feature/bug and didn't even notice until I killed someone in PvP with Total Focus after I got taken down myself. Granted, I have a cautious, reckless play style (if that makes any sense), so I tend to take a lot of damage anyway, but usually survive the fight as well. The notable exception would be when I try to tank on my Controller because the current Tank is either too scared or too slow.

Though arguably, it's also silly is a projectile already in flight, say one of those heat-seeking boulders, and does no damage because the guy who threw it crumbled before it reached its target. Or if they start spraying flames, bullets, radioactive gases, explode, or what have you. Prior to this, that was silly and the other powers made sense. Now, it's just reversed. That will only be fixed if the Devs make some sort of flag that sets powers to still be able to do damage after death and the others not.

But, mainly, I enjoy this mostly for the added challenge, not so I can whap someone when I occasionally go down to a mob.
  18. Personally, I actually like this "bug" or "change", whichever it is. Adds a bit more challenge and it IS two-way street. It always ticked me off if I died mid-animation on a final blow, causing me to not kill the target as I died. Now, I can. Granted, I don't die very often, but when I do I try to go fighting and this lets me do so.
  19. I noticed Demon Summoning is on the list, but not Dual Pistols. Also, Gravity doesn't really fit "Energy" except in an incredibly vague, loose, and debatable sense. In fact, it really doesn't fit any of those elements at all.

    Interesting sheet though.
  20. Conversely, I've noticed my attacks that didn't finish animating before death still land as well.
  21. TwilightPhoenix

    Demoplay?

Ah, thanks. Just need to figure out how to launch the game client from Terminal then.
  22. TwilightPhoenix

    Demoplay?

I hate to double post, but... is there anyone who knows how to do this that can help me?
  23. I have a level 47 Grav/Trick Arrow Controller currently with the Psi Mastery pool. I used a respec to move some powers and slots around and glanced at the other APPs to remind myself what they had again. I noticed Ice had Ice Storm and, checking it's real numbers, it had 100 damage unslotted! That's triple my Psi Tornado! Is this power really that good or is there some kind of catch I might be missing here? Also, the cold armor, how skippable is it? I would like to have it's benefits if I respec into ice, but I hate how it looks, so I'm not sold on taking or skipping it yet. And the other powers, Ice Blast, Frost Breath, and Hibernate, are they worthwhile?
  24. If you have a non-hostile NPC targeted, like a Wents representative, auto-fire powers won't trigger. Untarget them and they should work fine again.
