Please add a personal base for us loners. I don't need much storage and am not looking for a huge group to play with. Just something to store a bit and maybe a single teleporter now that the 6 zone ones are available.
-
So, anyways, to the devs. I would pay for pre-made bases, buying larger plots, buying power and control units(80-150ea depending on capacity), storage items(80 points each), etc. I would not mind paying a $2/month license fee to use bases but am not looking to do the subscription and I don't foresee any personal spaces becoming available anytime soon, if at all. As bases stand now, they are not worth a subscription price to me but you could get me to pay more by piecemealing it various content.
-
I just came on here to express my wish for a base license, pre-made bases and the ability to purchase other base items and to let them know I won't subscribe and do as you are indicating to get those items. My reason for saying that is because I feel your scenario is no longer relevant because it all changes when you can add a price sticker. If they choose not to do it, then I get to keep more of my money to do other things as my current access keeps me happy enough. I thought they would like to know what Premium players are willing to pay for and here I am. /shrug

No, definitely do not agree with the diminishing returns. I think the devs simply underestimated the popularity of the LFG tool so did not take the time to add other Trials and TFs.
For me, the LFG tool simply needs more options added to it. Low level, there is no other option for easily teaming together and gaining a lot of xp. They already mentioned they will be working on it so players can still teleport to a trial from within a mission. Not that I want to give the 800 pound gorilla too much credit but in addition, I really like the design of their team up teleporter. I would love if we could designate archetypes and wait for them to fill up, then the trial begins.
I think it is one of their best additions yet and the DFB should not suffer because it is so popular. It just needs time and work to provide more options so one trial does not stand out so much in contrast. -
The only thing I really miss as a Premium player is base access. Though, not enough to warrant a subscription. I'm very surprised bases were not broken down into their individual parts and placed in the market. By their design, they fit very well with microtransactions. That is unless that is something down the road and is a time-intensive task. I would definitely pay the $2/monthly like the other licenses and would probably buy individual pieces such as Control and Power items.
I would be surprised is the devs were NOT working on this because, one, it opens up even more options for sale and two, they can gauge the true interest in bases and three, that may result in upgrades so many of us have been asking about for years.
I've seen some player created bases and I think it would be really neat to hold a contest, choose the top 10 or so and sell pre-made bases on the market. Something like 4 teleporter base with 1 inspiration/enhancement/salvage for $5 and an 8 teleporter base with more storage for $10. This would be on an individual character basis not account wide.
All the reading I've done on the forums, I hardly see people mention bases when comparing VIP perks to Premium so hopefully Paragon Studios will lean more toward placing base access and items on the market rather than the selling point of VIP access.
Bare minimum: please give me the $2/month license option for bases. Thank you. -

Quote:Couldn't agree more. What's bad is I also tend to believe what Photon is saying thus ashamed I can't think for myself and would probably not do the right thing for fear of upsetting the status quo. It's too bad that even if I did the right thing, I would need a degree in law to defend my actions. And that reminds me of a Farscape episode.I'd say it's the other way around, that there's something wrong with the world when the only people who will help others in need when they see it are those eccentric enough to want to dress up to do it.
It's even and even worse indictment on society when such people are mocked. Jones could well have saved someones life. Street fights aren't like schoolyard scraps between children.
Of course, I would selfishly hope if someone is doing much more than brawling and my life is in danger, someone would step in to save my life if no police were around. And then I would probably sheepishly do my duty as a citizen and label them a vigilante so they are arrested along with the perpetrator. -
Quote:I agree. Buying two now, just for rewards, does not give you 2 hero merits/40 merits/20 of each incarnate salvage each week. You would really need to enjoy the content for it to be worth buying all the story arcs if you were a Premium player.I don't disagree with you. In fact, I agree fully.
But I was thinking on this earlier today.
While YMMV, I really find it hard to swallow that the arcs - by content alone - are worth the $5/400PP.
But if you look at the rewards, it is more likely to be worth $5/400PP. I still do not think so, but I am not as impressed with Alignment Merits and Astral Merits as others are...
Also, these SSAs might be the so-called "solo" incarnate path. Yeah, 10 threads in the grand scheme of things is pretty poor... But this is the first, and so far only, way a non-incarnate level 50 can get threads without grouping.
It still stinks for crafting Incarnate Salvage... But it does open the possibility of unlocking all the slots solo. Without a whole lot of time investment.
Taking all of that together, and I can see others (those that are not me) finding these things worth $5/400PP.
If anyone is interested in rewards only, like me, then it is better to only purchase one arc. -
Quote:Good to know for those of us that are concerned more with rewards. I'm going Premium in a few days and was planning to buy all the Story Arcs.
Now I know only to buy one. -
Excellent suggestion, Maestro. I plan on going Premium next month and was worried about the base upkeep. Players are nice enough to invite my alts into solo SGs so hopefully they won't mind the occasional base upkeep.
Though I have to say I think locking bases behind VIP is a mistake. By their design, they are meant for the store. I would gladly pay for a pre-built base or buy a storage/energy/control/plot upgrade item.
If they do ever sell pre-built bases, I hope they hold a contest for base builders. I would absolutely LOVE to buy some of the bases I've seen designed by players.
Maybe with some money coming directly from sales, we can finally see the 'base love' that we have gone without for so long. -

Getting the servers ready for a huge influx of players? Sounds good to me. It takes as long as it takes to get it right. I'm ok with a long outage.

Quote:That was my attitude and why I only played UO and Everquest for the free months. I still didn't "get it" when it came to MMOs. What could a game possibly offer me that I continue to pay a monthly fee? I still struggle with that concept today when people think we should pay more.Hmmm.
Early MMO attitude = "PAY for a game after I've bought it? And keep paying? That's stupid." So I didn't bother looking at any.
I didn't hear about CoH until a couple months before. I really didn't know much about the web when it came to haunting forums, betas, etc. At the very least, I have CoH to thank for introducing me to forum life, betas, leet-speak and other internet conventions. I had web access for years prior to CoH but really wasn't encouraged to become a part of it until this game came along. I still surprise myself how much I come back to this game.
I look forward to many more years here. -
Yeah, but I bought Atomic Aura and it's within that same system yet it still shows up with a Buy Now button. It's not just a two different systems trying to talk to each other issue. But you are correct, it is new and will take time to fine tune.
-
I bought Beam Rifle. Anything else I either didn't care about or I thought it was overpriced(I'm looking at you storage). My plan is to go premium next month since I have so many tiers unlocked and will have to seriously consider how many character slots I want to unlock. I don't mind losing server transfers, Incarnate access or story arcs. I plan to wait for the first sale before making any other major purchases.

Quote:/em bowsIf you're still having problems logging in, it might work to log into your NCSoft master account and change the password for your game account. This allowed me to log back in no problem.
Thank you, EG.I was going nuts thinking I did something wrong. I have a laptop with fingerprint scanner that holds my login info and was wondering how it could possibly be wrong.

Quote:Awesome, thanks Gangrel.Windows 7?
Thats your problem right there, unless you run Win7 in compatibility mode it doesnt become selectable (blame MS on this one for changing sound engines...)that worked. Now to see if it makes a noticeable difference, ie. more enjoyable. (I used Windows XP Service Pack 3 for compatibility btw if anyone else is interested).

I was trying mine out today and wonder what people think of them. Occasionally, I play on my laptop or need to keep things quiet so I got a pair of Logitech's G35 headphones. CoH sounds good but I'm wondering if I might be missing out on the 3D portion of audio. The 3D Sound setting does not highlight with these plugged in and set as the default audio playback device. Are they compatible? If so, can I enable the 3D sound setting?

Quote:I was ready to call it quits for today after Zwillenger's last post but then Avatea made a new post that the Paragon Market is back up so i thought all is well as far as logging in...but alas, still getting the public access disabled message. Got my hopes up so instead of justStill getting the not open to public message, three accounts including one that was in the... ahem... previous stage of the beta..
, I am now

Ugh, still getting "public access to this server has been disabled".
-
No news on Paragon Market being restored and at this time, I doubt it will be back up today.
Though it is a good thing we hammered the heck out of the login process(according to Von Krieger's post) and they will have to work out a fix for such a workload.
Still waiting patiently to experience Freedom beta. -
Quote:Same for me.I'm still getting the "public access to this server has been disabled" message. The same message I got every time I tried to log in yesterday. Obviously, people have been getting into the game, so does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I never had a screen pop-up for accepting the NDA, just the EULA. -
Ditto. Is there some sort of unseen queue we are in before access is enabled? I am able to login, accept the EULA but after clicking Beta Server 01, I get the "public access to this server is disabled" message.
