I'm up for doing another one. Maybe we can try and launch a missle or do some of that other PVP stuff sometime...

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's badge work to be done here, for sure. RV's the most exciting for me, with the turret captures/hacks (harkens back to my Planetside days), the AV/Hero spawns, and having all your abilities on hand. Next up for fun IMO is Siren's Call. Everyone's midrange, and the map's gritty and varied enough to where you get a mix of terrains (deep urban, wasteland, open sky/water fights). Warburg's deceptively large... the underground can get confusing if you're not familiar with it, and doing missile work (to get the badge and temp powers) can be really nasty to negotiate solo or in teams, esp. with the PVP element. Bloody Bay is my least favorite, because of the low level fighting, but it's still got a good mix of terrain (and I THINK it's the largest map of them all?). Shivan Shards are a must though, so maybe the Horde should look into BB and WB for their next planned jaunts.

I miss the duels on the globe in Warburg. That was so 2007 for me.

Whitefox presents the Freedom Horde Battle Royale!

This will be conducted in the Arena so the environment can be controlled and fun for all. I would like to get enough people interested and signed up to split into 2 full teams. We will try to even them out as best as possible and just have a good ol time battling it out and tons of stories to talk about!

Well, Looks like I'm not the only one that doesn't get excited about PvP. Figured this would get more attention though actually. Instead it got pushed to page #3 and I even almost forgot about it. Only 7 of us signed up. I'll show up at 9 and see who else does. If we don't get enough for 2 teams, I'll just cancel it and we can do whatever the majority wants to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll be there. Dr. Turgenev, Ill/Storm Controller. Sorry for the late signage, it's been a hell week. See if I can tap a few people on the shoulder to show up.

(Edit: Any reason to restrict this to just heroes? There are arena kiosks in Pocket D, which make coordinating teams with the Reds easier, if that's in your gameplan.)
  3. Glad you guys had a good roll, I had bad scheduling for last night and failed to show up at the right time. Anyone wanna do a remedial with Legbah's GW arc?
  4. Just fixed my post to state "team size" minimum, not "level" minimum.

If his toon is 25+ You can also introduce him to Ouroborus, and run some really fun mission through there, including the ones the mendors hand out.

    Luna

PS: Don't mind me, I cannot spell today. Just hope ya get the point

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hrm, I'll show him that, too. I'm worried that it won't immerse him; he's finicky. And, picky. :-S

    [/ QUOTE ]

If he was around before spring 2005, have him run the Mender Silos TF in Ouroboros. (You can solo them, there's no team size minimum, but it IS a TF.) Do the other TFs first to get a feel for Ouroboros, but the Silos TF is the one that will appeal to oldbies' tastes for nostalgia.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
If he is in his 20s, you can also do the 2nd half of the Faultline arcs & Striga Island arcs - at 25+ hit Croatoa...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, just going to Faultline period would be a nice "hey, wasn't this all destroyed" response if he remembers the hazard zone before it got spruced up by the Freedom Phalanx Home Owners Association.

And, re: RWZ: The map's essentially the same as the RCS, but the dynamics are totally different now.

    Old an' busted

    The New Hawtness

EDIT: Anyone remember the links for the City Scoop for Issue 10, and their "write an inspirational hero/villain speech" contest? That would be a great "get in the mood" read for Myrd and his bro.

    EDIT2: Aaah, here it is.
  7. If he was raised on a diet of Paragon City recovering from the Rikti War, you should intro him to the RWZ at lvl 35+ - the SECOND Rikti War.

    That was one well-done issue.
  8. Definites list:

    Eden Trial: 7/31 @ 1159pm - Cerulean Skie (elec/nrg blaster)
    Reichsman TF: 8/1 @ 1130pm - Cerulean Skie (elec/nrg blaster)
Lady Grey TF: 8/2 @ 1030pm - Supreme Soviet (bots/traps MM), Blackest Light (Warshade) or Rex Obscura (Crab Soldier) - SS preferred, but will bring what the team needs

    Maybe list:

    ITF: 8/1 @130am - Blackest Light (Warshade)
Villain Respec 1: 8/2 @ 3pm - King Legbah (thugs/poison MM) or Rex Obscura (Crab Soldier)

As always, thanks for organizing these, E!

We finished in 1:05:43 with 14 deaths.

Heh, you got me on RF2K9 calling ED "Enhancement Dysfunction". hurr hurr hurr XD
  10. Yes and no; it's not nearly as spammy duration0wise as Freezing Rain, which has about 10 secs on the FX timer, for instance. The whole effect, from start to finish, took about 2-3 seconds, and went away neatly. We were testing this on objects as well (players, benches, vehicles), and the textures only overlaid on the actual terrain and stationary objects: People and vehicles were unaffected.

(Hmm. I didn't try atop the blimp...)

'sides, anyone who's been here for 63 months? I'm far less inclined to say they'd use this for spamming CC's and whatnot, especially when there are far more efficient spamming powers out there (like the ice armor drive-by buffs).

    AE- I'm very sad

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I really enjoyed writing and playing stories from our talented community, and not that I'm anti-farming, but I had such high hopes for AE and just experiencing the creativity and ingenuity of the authors. I still do, but I play most of them solo now as the primary invites are AE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just recently got into the groove in AE mission arc creation. I was having all kinds of fun just putting together the custom stuff.

Then I encountered AE's major problem that isn't Farming.

    100k.

    Yes, the problem is 100k.

Because 100 kilobytes is all that the mission editor will allow for a FULL MISSION ARC. Not a single mission. Every mission in an arc must fit inside 100kilobytes.

How the hell am I going to write fun/funny/dramatic storylines in my mission arcs if two-three custom mobs have the file size bursting at the seams?

You can't be creative with the MA. There isn't enough room, simple as that.

Not to mention, the editor is very inconsistent with it's file size changes. I removed something earlier on accident, noted the file size change, and then put it back. The file size was larger AFTER the fix than it was before it was broken.

Seriously, in a day and age with hard drives in iPod's that hold enough data that would have required a WAREHOUSE to contain just 25 years ago, you'd think they could spring for a bit more than 100k.

Even if we had the most detailed and epic storyline arcs put together(provided larger file sizes, of course), people are STILL going to abuse the system and PL. Farming isn't as much an issue, because it's farming: Every MMO ever made has farming somehow. People are people, they will take the path of least resistance. Get used to it.

With Hard Disks down to less than ten-cents a gigabyte, there is little to no excuse to limit an entire mission arc to 100k. Absolutely none.

    Signed,
    -Disgruntled Mission Arc Writer-

    [/ QUOTE ]

Admittedly, I'm in the same school of thought that 100K isn't big enough for the serious writer. I think an extra 25-50K would give "just enough" to lessen the constrictions on us to write a fun, creative arc vs what we have now.

I don't see it as a tremendous problem; as some will point out, there's something to be said about being creatively "creative" within the 100K confines, and believe me, it's very doable. It's just that it's not really necessary, in my mind, to "force" such creativity with size constraints.

Anyway, just wanted to interject a little "me too"ness into this post. Back to the OP's "zomg ae is killin teh gaem" theme. Which, if you believe that, you should quit, because nothing people can say or do will convince you, and we don't have the time to try to do so.

Because, hey, I gotta get back to writing my farms, because that's all you see it being.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Screenshot of this, please?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Here ya go.
  13. Signing up for your runs is like doing taxes, E. This takes reading.

I'll be down for some. More tonight once I straighten up my toons, but it'll be split between Blackest Light, Cerulean Skie and my Crabbie, Rex.
  14. Throw me down for the Cavern trial. Toon TBA, but likely Cerulean Skie (elec/nrg blaster). Maybe Blackest Light (Warshade), but unlikely.
  15. Ian: Hi-rez screenie will be shot tonight. Doing it on my work laptop, not so good. Fair, but not blindingly awesome as at home. (Make this a wiki screenie?...)
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Is the fog-of-war lifted permanently from the zone when you use the power, or does it come back once you log out or leave the zone, and then you'll have to use the power again once you come back to the zone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Confirmed: It's perma.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Strangely enough the emote animation for this power's activation is just about the only part I'm looking forward to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's really quite nice. Again, doesn't key off for interiors... including the sewers. Will test the Hollows caverns... any other "underground" zone out there I can check besides the two Sewers and the Hollows Caverns?

(In other news... when did they put a contact down in the Sewers? Damn, they're helpful to newbs these days...)
  18. You're from Virtue. Don't you roll a new toon every week? Even on my oldbies, I only did the map opening on my main, so this is delightfully handy for my other toons.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
next big gathering I'll take a picture. I play with graphics up as high as they can go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same, and I was setting up to take a pic, but then my Blackberry went off, then I had to make a quick remote tweak, then next thing I know OMG ROLLISTER
  20. [ QUOTE ]
<QR> So out of curiosity.. does it work on your mission map?

    [/ QUOTE ]

MB: Works on mish maps. The graphic for it doesn't kick off as well though. You get the device animation, but not the awesome "holodeck" grid superimposition like you do in a zone.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Consider it the price you pay for wanting to brag about it here in the forums before anyone else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I thought I wrote it constructively and neutrally, with a small "yay Shard map be gone" at the end.

But yeah, in reality, I was taunting you.

*rubs the badge on your elbow nonchalantly*

<QR> So out of curiosity.. does it work on your mission map?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll test shortly. Finally opening the Shard maps. Let me play for a bit.
  23. Let me just say, I really dig the graphic for the "Reveal" power. Aaaah, I can see the Shard... I actually opened up FBZ and Cascades a few years ago with Hover (HOVER!) while I was at work. Point Doc T in a compass direction, do work for 10 mins, then come back and repoint...

As one of the people who had the "fog of war" bug back before they fixed it a few years ago, this is a very nice little godsend. Kudos to the Devs for a nice, non-game changing, thoughtful power.

Lothic: I was expecting your post. Would you like to touch my badge? (buys you a drink)
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Is there a difference in the villain badge text?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Says the same for the text. Same title, same badge info, same power desc. Realistically, this reflects your "global" account, so since CoH and CoV were merged under the CoH name, this makes "sense". Not thematically, but we're never happy in that regard.
