Quote:Heya, Cyber:Can you get purples or good selling drops?
I am a relative newb in MA so i have no idea what to spend tickets on so if anyone has advice/ links it would be great as i want to make enough inf to slot my ill/ rad towards perma PA but i gulped when i saw the price ...........
Thanks in advance
First, a more appropriate forum for this should be "Mission Architect: Resources, Discussion & Questions", found here:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=583
(The "Stories and Lore" forum is more for the creative process vs technical issues.)
Now, to answer:
Tickets can be used to buy recipes, salvage, enhancers, etc. However, if you have any desire to engage in MA storywriting, I'd strongly suggest getting the various account-based "unlocks" first, since once you get them, they're yours forever. These include special maps, costume pieces, auras, signature heroes/villains, etc. Once these are gotten, then you can consider all future tickets "fluff" and spend it on recipes, salvage, etc.
Making a popular arc is a fantastic way to earn tickets as well, as people who 3-5 star your arc net you 15-25 tickets with each vote. -
Yeah. We're all old.

To clarify my toon, I'll be rolling a new one for this (actually a ported-over toon from Champion I had for a while).

Quote:Same. I'd like to see "Dev Week", akin to "Shark Week" from Discovery Channel, but imagine the /tell hell the rednames would be in from all the people asking for teams? INF? XP? Powerleveling? That evasive "I WIN" button? As unpopular an idea as it might sound, I really wish they'd do away with double XP weekends. I think a fun replacement would be to have dev, reps, and GMs log in as signature characters over the course of the weekend and have parties, Q&A sessions, PvP events, contests, run missions with player teams, etc. THAT I would get excited about.
Still, yeah, I can get behind TonyV's idea. Make the weekend about the players and the developers, rather than the loot harvesting. 2x XP doesn't benefit the most populous servers when there are lockouts (although AFAIK it didn't happen, but I have my own pet theory on that). -
I hope someone screenshotted the trio of Babbages we had going.... I forgot. XD

Depends on where the fault is. If the issue is a clientside crash bug that's not due to an image inconsistency, having to wait for that reverify to conclude each time isn't necessary. If it's serverside - same deal.
-
Huh. I wonder if there were trunking issues this weekend?... I don't know where my previous teamies were from though...

Quote:We (at least, all the teams I ran on) still had the crashes, and in-game an increased degree of performance degradation, but no lockouts.Really? The game ran super great for me. I didn't crash once. The last double xp weekend I would crash - go to log back on and it would be red and couldn't get back on...over and over again.
I saw a bunch of application crashes this weekend myself, where the GUI didn't even go to the "COH has experienced a crash, please upload a dump file so we can help", it just outright disappeared. Lag was pretty nasty too; my average Freedom ping (and I can DRIVE to the server, I'm close enough) is around 100ms, and this weekend I was seeing pings of 200 to 400ms. -
Quote:Same. I have two new redside toons I'd like to run for this, depending on what the group needs.I'm assuming that since these are story arcs, that you don't *have* to be 45-50 to join.

Interesting question. Short form, I'm not sure. I haven't heard about any upgrades lately, but if someone has and has a link to share, please do so.
Server performance was very degraded, however, and IMO it was worse than the last 2x XP weekend. Based on my own observations, it felt like they "undid" the soft population cap they levied on Freedom and Virtue. I never saw us go into the red, but the performance sure felt like it was - previous 2x XP weekends, with the pop cap in place, general performance in the game was maintained to be very comfortable. Not nearly as much this time around, which leads me to suspect the soft cap was removed. -
Quote:Pardon the intrusion; I was driving by through the UK on my way to France, then back to the US, when I saw this post. You know, I've come to think that Raids are easier with lesser groups, or that's the conclusion after the last few I've been in. The ones in Union with 5-6-7 teams weer a bit of a disaster, Merits speaking, just 100-150 merits each, while the ones in Defiant with my cold fender and just 3-4 teams I earned about 350 merits each, with me in the middle of the group spamming ice shields everyone and anywhere.
First, great thread name. Sounds like a song by Emo Philips.
Second, on the merit harvesting: On Freedom, we've been able to lock the zone for population count,so we're fielding 5-7 teams easily. With each run, the teams net about 300-500 merits a piece. What makes the big hero/villain count more chaotic is the Rikti spawn count, but if your crews are focused and can follow orders on the Request channel (that's how we do it, at least), you can keep each saucer raid flowing for merits for about an hour a piece, until all the bombs are gone.
When Issue 10 hit, we were walking away with 1000+ merits a piece.Truly the best of times!

Quote:I'd vote for an American ultra-lounge. Vegas, baby!BTW - I notice that another poster is asking for a North American Lounge... shouldn't it be something more american, like a diner, rather than a lounge?

This. Don't let game instability stop you from teaming.

Quote:I strongly disagree. Sorry to see you go, but me an' my full global list of gaming savants will remain here and continue to have fun on a daily basis.I strongly agree. I just came back to the came in the last week and the sense of community and the focus on game knowledge and story arcs is just totally gone. I won't re-up my sub.
If you decide you actually want to run with some of us, who are organizing scheduled runs and teams on a daily basis here on the boards, you're welcome to participate.
If you prefer to just leave, well, ciao.
