They didn't have /em on your MU*'s? I remember that pretty clearly... it's been over a decade, true..

*does math* Damn. Almost 17 years. Are MU*'s that old?

  4. Heya all:

    Just a few points.

I've addressed the issue on the multi-EB spawns for mission 1. It seems that the supporting group for the boss was changed from the original group to the group containing the boss, which was an all-AV catch-all group I whipped up to store certain mobs. I've cleaned it up, and the mobs are now spawning properly.

Since the arc is now un-DC'd, I figured it was a good time to address some of the comments I've gotten over the months.

    1. First, I cleaned up two clue names on Mish 1, so they don't run off the screen.

    2. Second, I mitigated the Mish 1 boss's powers slightly (removed the Tier 2 pets), due to requests from a number of players. IMO, the encounter plays a bit TOO easy now (my scrapper can destroy him in three hits now), but leaving it out there for playtesting. I ran it at 0/0 solo with a scrapper, causing the boss to spawn as a Lt. I'll try later with him with the boss flag forced, see if he's still a pushover. (I even tried to let him spawn his pets, to buff up his HP, but he still dropped quickly.)

    3. I noticed that the default items for Mish 3 got reset to Ritki Crates somehow... so, I streamlined that map too. Tweaked the objects to something that promised to be a touch more visible on the field, cleaned up a bit of dialog to match the action, etc.

    4. Mish 3 and 4 use the System.Defense mobs. Early on in playtest, these mobs were fairly straightforward - rough fight, but nothing overwhelming. However, in playtest I ONLY tested solo, so when it got released, I got a lot of choice commentaries about the Lieutenant class's Spectral Terror... and how there'd be five or six of them in a half-full team. Mish 3 was doable, but Mish 4's time restriction, coupled with a team of 2 or more, made that complicated.

The easiest thing I did was knock the Lt's primary down one notch, which got rid of the Spec Terror. I feel like she's a pushover now, though. I'm not sure if I should do this, or swap the LT with the BOSS, and let her keep Spec Terror, just be a rarer spawn. Comments on this would be appreciated.

    5. Corrected a misspell on mish 5. ("processed" to "processes")

And that's it. It's up for playtesting (same arc ID) if anyone's willing to check it out. My biggest concerns here are whether or not I nerfed the Mish 1 boss, or the Sys.Def Lieutenants, too far. If someone can play a generally "weaker" class for solo checking, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks, all!

There's also a guy on Freedom whose hero and global is Mr E (or is it Mister E?). I kept thinking it was our E, but now I know better. That one usually plays in the late afternoon, early evening.
Did he look something like this?

    Until they fix the bug.

That's a clever use of the system, but man, I'd scream bloody murder if I saw 40B disappear after a patch...
  7. *looks up at Paragon's reply* Am I REALLY that predictable? XD
  8. 1. First, heya Aett, LTNS.

    2. I have a similar issue, but one that appears to be cookie related. Between 3 sets of machines (not including my Palm Pre), it does not "recognize" that I've read a thread on one of the machines (the work laptop). Home machine remembers fine, and the Pre sees the changes, but the work laptop insists on not recognizing the "thread is read" flag and forces me to "read all" to get around it.

Sorry for the slight topic detour, but it's sorta related. Any ideas?

    Heya:

Roleplay groups on Freedom is something of an underground phenomenon here. Normally, players seeking that sort of gameplay head to Virtue, where it's somewhat overt.

G'luck finding a group here - they exist, so just keep looking and advertising, and you'll find one. But if you get frustrated, head to Virtue, you'll be tripping over {{}}'s before you can finish the login process. Cheers!

Apparently, the last few days have been really good while I've been away. Above-freezing temps and steady rainfall has eroded pretty much all of the road snow/ice, and only left the biggest piles (including the pile on our lawn...). Snow's fun, but ice sucked. Glad it's outta here.

...now send the next winter blast!

Sure. We're all laughing at you because you missed out on all the fun.

  13. Happy holidays to everyone at Paragon Studios, and the players who keep you in business. See you in a few days when I get back from my NYC family gauntlet!
  14. I leave for NYC tomorrow morning, not likely to be on 'til Sat evening, so to everyone here, old and new, to those whom I love and respect, and those who... well, not so much, to EVERYONE here, I say:

    Happy Holidays.

    Y'all're the best.

Glad the run went off profitably well. I'd love to get this rolling at some point, but I can easily solo it, it's just nice to have others to egg you on to do it.

You shoulda seen it on the day they gave away free server transfers. About 5-10 off-server troublemakers throwing Ouro portals all over the candy cane vendor/luge trail. I love "Add Note". Great way to ID people and track 'em down on the boards for future harassment.
  19. Sorry for the no-show. Fell asleep on the couch with Tina and Thor. My bad, all.
  20. All right, people. We're in the BLIZZARD OF THE CENTURY (granted, it's only 9% complete), and there's no way in HELL we're all logged in banging away at an ITF or speed LRSF.

So start sharin'. I think this is a great way to see what the heck we're all dealing with when we say "sorry, will be late for the static team, we lost power and are shivering to death".

Here's my tidbit: Courtesy of Facebook. My wife and my dog, on the road behind our house, about four hours ago. I'll note, the snow's DOUBLED during that time.

EDIT: I keep forgetting the new forums does pictures... hopefully, this'll work. If it doesn't, let me know.

Badging is all about having climbed a ridiculously high mountain, looking down, and texting to the whole world, "see that speck up there? Me."

Having said that, is it really worth going through the motions by GR side switching? I don't know; it depends on the concrete value returned to my former hero/villain for having done so. Story-wise, the only toon I have who'd do this is my main badger, Dr. Turgenev (hell, I built him to fall way back in 2004). That I could get badges for doing us is just icing on the cake... but it really depends on how they implement it.

So, is it worth it? I don't know; it depends on qualitative information on how the badging process will be managed, and how it impacts the character overall. Turg's Jury is still out on this one.

I think a simple "Your arc has been duly evaluated for Dr. Aeon's Architect Challenge. Thank you for participating!" is sufficient to allay concerns for those who have them, and is a nice gesture. If he took the time to play through, taking the equivalent of 10 seconds to state they did so at the end is a vanishingly small time sink, n'est-ce pas?

...you can even copy/paste what I just wrote. I don't mind. XD
  23. Welcome aboard, Ducey. Looking forward to seeing you roll on Freedom soil. My suggestion: Hook up with some forumites and some puggers, and see how you click with them. Shop around, make your decision after that. I'd suggest IRON - your personalities are totally right for that - but we're in mothball hiatus right now as most of the team is in Aion for a few more months. If you'd like a SG home temporarily until you find something more permanent, though, I'd be glad to host you.

Again, welcome to you and yours. Now go make a Ducey-shaped bloodstain in Freedom's AP an' show us how you roll.
  24. *slips a note under the door* For your consideration. Thanks for offering to take on arc playtime - feedback is always appreciated and readily encouraged! I'm still futzing on the final mission for boss spawn point control, but as a whole this one's in the can and will be advertising it publicly soon.

Turg Fiction: IX (Arc ID: 351787)

(This was my submission for Dr. Aeon's Architect Challenge, but was disqualified for offering the "choice" for doing evil. Damned Aeon Labs lawyers!)
  25. Cheers, Doc. Enjoy the holidays, and thanks for your work in giving guidance and personality to Architect Entertainment.
