Quote:That's exactly the reason. Blazing Aura just FLOODS an area with fire, and with bloom on, it really blends well with the boss's own aura (he has flaming head/hands). I turn BA off, and, well, he looks nekkid. =/ The built-in costume "fiery" auras really don't hold a candle to BA in that regard.True enough, but this presumes that Turg was more interested in the look rather than the actual powers - only he can state if that's the case.
Will experiment with turning Healing Flames off if I can. I wanted to keep his rewards meaningful without going overboard. Really, the reverse Achilles Heel here is all-fire toons who're soloing... I'll do a comparison with current settings vs "custom" removals to see if it improves anything.
Thanks for the suggestions. Out of fairness to Coulumb, I'll take further comments in my own arc thread (see sig) if anyone would like to toss ideas around. I DO want to help that encounter for fire builds if I can. -
Quote:My initial response was, "cuz I'm a guy. I like da booty."Alright everyone, my New Year's Resolution is to find out ....
WHY DO GUYZ PLAY GIRL TOONZ??!!
But that's not entirely true. I build the female toons for theme first. Does it fit the character concept I want to try, with the powersets and costume idea(s) I have? That's the critical determinant.
But, yes, using the "walk" emote with one of my toons can put steam in a man's stride. -

Quote:Whew. For a second there, I was all mad that I'd have to stay.Turg, I would normally tell you that you can't leave because I need to see that kitty, but I copied the pic to my computer so you're free to go.
Real life first, Gearford. Get your income squared away, and when "leisure" becomes an after-work thing instead of an instead-of-work thing, give us a ring. -
Quote:I hope they're kept to a minimum. I'm tired of parking my toons constantly, and it's turned me off badging by and large.Anyway let's not forget that Going Rogue and/or future Issues might add new Day Job badges as well so I wouldn't assume we'd ever be totally "done" with them in any event.
And, OP: Grats! -
Quote:NEAT, they have an acronym page! That Wiki rocks! Good find, 1st!A few acronyms here ---> LINK

Huh, you mean abbreviations... well, hrm. I don't THINK there's a post out there that covers it?... If you have questions, ask, and we can certainly answer if we think we know it.
PB = typically short for Peacebringer (a "light" Kheldian, epic archetype class for hero). Or, peanut butter.
PVP = Player vs Player combat, as opposed to PVE (player vs environment) combat.
For general references, you may want to browse the COH Wiki at http://paragonwiki.com - this is a pretty definitive repository of information for the game, powers, classes, events, etc.
Welcome to Freedom. Don't by shy, but bear with us if the language barrier takes a few turns to interpret one of your questions. -
Quote:Yeah 'k.It was just a cheap, crummy, poorly made SF that was built to exclude ATs. I remember Statesman offered people a free year of playtime if they could beat it (basically to find a sploit the Devs didn't see). Instead you got min-maxed groups metagaming and rolling over it abusing shivans/nukes/vengbait.
Quoting you to our regular Master teams on Freedom, where we make it a point of pride not to rely on one particular AT on any run: It's just about knowing HOW to run it.
This'll get a good laugh. Thanks. -
Quote:Boo-yah. Can I call it or WHAT?Guess im the only one who notices the teaming issues,or lack there of in Freedom...odds are,you guys that just posted are in a SG,and dont have teaming issues.
Side note...by odd quincidence.....i look alot like "The guy on the left."
OP: I'm in a SG of one right now. Everyone else is off playing Aion or MW2. However, I'm active in keeping a network of friends/contacts/globals handy and available, so within one minute of deciding "I think I'll play", I can find a team.
There's more to it, but honestly, your first post kinda makes the eyes bleed... I'd suggest looking at the global channel list sticky on the Freedom board and getting familiar with those channels for the various tasks. We're an active bunch here. If you're not finding missions/teams, you're doing something wrong. -
Quote:Heya, Coulomb:Ghost In The Machine, Act II (ID#174557, Score: 4.125, 4 stars, 5 stars given in game)
Pro Payne and Dani work together again, this time to uncover a magical plot and a sinister conspiracy run by an ancient, secretive group. Story wise I liked this arc every bit as much as the 1st one, and Im looking forward to playing the sequel, when I get a chance. There is, however, one thing I really didnt enjoy, and that truly does seriously take away from the fun of the arc: the very last villain is a Fiery Aura elite boss with 90% fire resistance, and healing flames. Id fought him before when I played the arc the first time Id quit out and not rated it as I was totally unable to beat him.
You're not the first to voice this complaint about the arc, and it's a valid one, although one I'm having a hard time "balancing" to maintain the flavor of the encounter. Tweaking this fight for fire/fire toons, while maintaining a vigorous, non-pushover encounter for other builds, is on my perma-to-do list. I've tried a few iterations, but for the nature of the "backstory" with the EB, the powerset combo hits it dead on.
I'm still fussing over it, trust me. Thanks for sharing your commentary on the arc, and when I release a "director's cut" of Act II (about the time I release 3 and 4), I'll make it a point to ping you directly. Sorry that last encounter's been painful for your fire/fire experience. -
Thanks, Kitty! Let me know what you think of Act II as well, either here or via /tell!

I think I'm in for this, but will check my badgers to see where it's lacking. I'll still want to roll, but if we're too player-heavy, I can back out gracefully.

Hm. Write me up for this. I think Tux might want in on this too?
Toon TBA. -
Quote:Ok,iv been gone a few months due to life, but now im back, and im surprised at many things in this game.
I play the Freedom server, which has been my native server since the release of CoX,and theres barly anyone anywhere.....except inside the AE buildings and under the Atlas statue. Its so crowded mainly in those 2 places, that I cant even move,i start to lose map server just going by these places, thats how packed they are.
There where a couple times where i lost map server running by the AE building in Atlas, and tried over 10 times to loggin that character before giving up and trying to loggin later, when i assumed less people would be on.The same happened right after i made a new character the day before,i couldnt loggin because the costume contest that was going on knocked me out of the game before i even logged in.
I was thinking that with this many people clogging Atlas, that surely there would be people wanting to team "Outside" Atlas....right?.....WRONG!
I personally play 2-3 hours a day to relax from my day,and i half way exspect to be able to team with a group of people that wanna make a team to do missions, any PUG would do,because normally i play the role of any AT i jump on admirably.(I hate deaths,so i use the ATS strengths, and allow someone else, like the Tanker,or Ect,to do there jobs)
The problem is,i can go that 2-3 hours, and not find a team to join, half the time i cant find anyone wanting to team unless its AE or a Farm, and i am not interested in a Farm at all.
So i thought id be smart, and snoop around for a SG that doesnt farm,i spammed the request for a none AE or Farming SG in Atlas for about 30 minutes, because i figured, maybe a SG would wanna have people that acctaully look for a team within, around each other, but, after 30 minutes,i was directed to a player who was the head of a SG i was told is like the one im looking for.
I messaged this person,and indeed,that person was on,and there was no answer....so i waited about 10 minutes,and said "Hello?You there?",and still,no response,so,i waited another 10 minutes,and sent the message again,and this time,i got a answer."Yeh,im messing with Mids,whatsup?"
At this point,i was like "Ok",i have his attention now,and i asked him if his SG gathers to actively to team like someone else told me when they suggjested i message him.
This guy told me no,that he Farms, and i just "Assumed",he ment that he has like a Farming Toon for Influence purposes,so thats what i said i understood,he stops me and tells me that he farms toons from lvl 1-50,and everyone else in his SG does, and more then half of his members dont leave Atlas till they hit level 50 on any givin toon,so they dont team much outside Atlas.
Im not going to say who the leader was,or the SG im describing over the Forums,it would be in bad form, but, all i can say is that im surprised.....
I could sit here and toss out some ideas for what they could do with AE,and make the game playable again,to where people dont get lazy, and fat without leaving Atlas. Its almost like this video game has its own addiction on virtual reality...which would be AE.
I acctually like the idea of AE...but i dont agree that it should be worth Exp.....If you removed that asspect of AE,leave the tickets, the influence, and everything else BUT the Exp...players would be forced to ...gee...i dunno... Leave Atlas and acctually have to travel for there levels?Maybe have to team if they cant do it all them selves?Hmmmmm....i like that, however, thats not likly to happen,so....i wanna know if there is a SG in Freedom?Or am i going to have to spend extra time making one for those who wanna be able to find a team when they want to?
That is, bar none, the longest, most circuitous "LF SG" post I've ever seen.
And yeah, it sounds like it was written back in July.
By the guy on the left here.
OP: Can you sum up your post? -
Just made it in under the radar. HBD, JK.

Quote:Exactly that. This, too.do you mean the gameplay changes that turned it from an FPS to an RTS?
-
Quote:Yeah, you started well after my time; I was in it in spring of 2003 through summer of '04 (COH pretty much stole me away). Started on Johari, which merged with Markov in the latter half of '03. That merger was okay; the community was doing fine honestly, 'til they made some sweeping gameplay changes in mid '04. (Actually, it was the culmination of a bunch of changes that evolved the flavor from the original FPS feel, which threw off the playerbase.)started late 2005 or early 2006, but dont have many memories of it due to my auto accident, anything pre -=DeMeNTeD=- with P149U3 is a wash.
when they merged emerald and markov into gemini (i wasnt even around for the johari/konreid days) it was a pretty big clash of playstyles, west coast (markov) having more of a spammy thing going on since they were the CN (chinese network) home, east coast (emerald) having more of an unreal gameplay culture.
they not too long ago merged gemini with the euros on werner, not too long ago every gen got blown, people with packs of 12+ plasma grenades started appearing, and the game died.
I loved my PS peeps: I still keep in touch with a bunch of the outfits we used to coalition with for some wickedly major campaigns. IRON (my online crew) had lots of fun with simple "we root here, and we die or we win, maggots" tactics that got us a lot of "favorite enemy" status with the opposing armies.Great time, easily the most fun I've had in an MMO - enough to make me dip my pen in the well for a bunch of short stories/novellas during that terrific first 18 months.
Watching Avatar, I keep thinking about Planetside. If you see the movie, you know why.
There's talk of a "Planetside Next" venture from Sony. No idea on the details, but if they bring back the Mosquito, I'll sub for a year just to fly again. -
Quote:Or we're just spiritually exhausted of having you post in our threads about how unfair it is, each and every time we release info about it for the public, even though we have no control over the system.Either that or the people who usually get the new ones too early just haven't shouted out yet.
Happy New Year, Lothic!
(PS: Acc'd to my acct schedule, I should get it today. However, I doubt the badge is in-game yet. If the Devs do this "right", releasing it the week of the actual week of the 28th is the best way to satisfy all groups. OP: When it hits live, I usually post the info I see to the Badges forum, so watch there for any news or details.) -

Quote:Let me turn the OP's inquiry upside down a bit.I play a superhero game to fly, teleport, run fast and jump real high.
NOT to do something that feasibly I could do in rl.
How about fighting enemies IN vehicles?
Some scenarios:
1. Rikti triggered invasions: Transport ships turned more into skiffs, with attackable personnel on the dorsal platform, and with an EB "driver" who's linked to the ship. Take him down, and the ship veers out of control into the landscape.
2. 5th Column: Nazi War Blimps.
3. Nemesis: Steampunk-style troop carriers that erupt from the ground to spawn a squad of Nem's.
4. Clockwork: A maddeningly complex Hoberman sphere made of itty bitty Clockwork, rolling down a street. Takes enough damage, it breaks apart into the component Clockwork to lay down the law of the King.
And so forth.
Yeah, this belongs in the Discussion thread. But since it's here: Discuss. -
Quote:THAT's weird. That's on both coasts now.Yes I am still having the same issue.
And the bizarre thing. I can get into the game on virtue.
Try posting up in the Tech Issues forum? Include your ISP, the servers you can't connect to, and see who chimes in. That's very odd, man. -
Quote:Then don't ask this question on Freedom. He asked for our opinions. We say "nah" (well, "I" said that, others agreed with more letters and syllables). Take it to General Discussion if you want to start Yet Another Whine Thread® about Architect, server mergers, PVP, zomgchumpions, etc.try not being on freedom and say that..just cause your on the highest poulation server doesnt mean it shouldnt happen or doesnt need to happen.
Now, if you asked me "how could we make this BETTER", instead of "what do you guys think about a server merger", I could wax rhetorical on what I consider possible and valuable options. But the OP didn't.
So, nah. We're fine here. If you really think that things are that bad on Guardian, you have four more weeks (end of January, right?) of free server transfers. Get going. We honestly don't mind fresh faces.
