Oooh, that's a sticking point. There's no "control" features for the MA run like a TF has, including a timer limit. =/ So, IF you went with that idea, you'd have to have someone /tell the contest leader to record a date/time when complete, and who can snapshot the Mission Success outgoing dialogue (as proof they finished it, with the /tell on screen to show "proof" of the time finish).

That's messier. TFs and Ouro arcs are the better option for simplicity's sakes. IF you wanted to throw MA in, you could do it as the "final run" arc, i.e., give people two stock TFs, then an MA arc, so you only have to do the messy work once.

(BTW, the Mender Silos TF is pretty rockin', and has a nice "zomg kill Nazis" motif.)

Let me make an alternative suggestion here that suits a few needs.

Instead of a TF that everyone knows and runs to death, pick a random MA arc (that you pre-tested). Go for something that doesn't have a measurable "speed" feel to it (look for one or two kill-alls, an AV fight, etc). I'd recommend an arc with 3+ stars and under 20 ratings for a few reasons. 1.) The arc will be relatively unknown, so no "speed" racing is likely; and 2.) it'll serve as a nice present for the arc author to suddenly get a flurry of votes.

Good candidates for these are recent Dev Choice submissions, or the contestants in Bubbawheat's "Player's Choice Awards" for 2009.

I thought I would feel out the forums here to see :
    1) If this would be something people would want and/or use
    2) What features you would like to see or not see
3)Any licensing problems or software issues that would hinder the app.

There are several WoW related apps, so its time CoX got some love too. Thanks!
I agree. If you can make it in Webkit, so it can be ported to something like the Palm Pre (which I use, and IMO is a superior device all around), I'd be terribly grateful. The homebrew community is MUCH more flexible than Apple's, too. Android targeting is also a good idea, but I don't have an Android phone. XD

Twenty minutes later, a certain MMO based on Star Trek, and all their online resources, crashes and burns.

COINCIDENCE? I THINKETH NOT! Discuss! Rikti > Gorn?!

This is my theory as well. Although six years down the line, I think they'd kick it up a notch by integrating it into a triggerable "super-invasion" with the new transport ships.

I wonder what is the best way to determine the time? Just the time that pops up at the end (requiring honesty) or a race back to the contact? Probably easier to just use the TF official timer. Would need a neutral party to watch the contact for the latter method.
Take a look at one of E-Man's TF threads. He usually posts a screenshot of the TF Mission Complete window, which displays the time taken. Anyone participating could email you their screenshots, for you to put up in a post-run analysis.

So how did that Def-Con thing turn out?
Heh. It was a seriously skewed kill count. DEFs won the match, but 99% of their kills were done by one person who was getting all the DAM/DEF buffs. Going by headcount ratio, the controllers got the most kills per capita, but overall the DEFs won cuz of their debuff sniperboy.

It was an interesting demonstration of how you have varying tactics in a PVP group: The "turtle" setup, which is how I ran the controller team, for stacked AOE buffs/debuffs; and what they did, which for some reason I want to call the "Jesus Save Us" mode, where it's one person doing all the work, and everyone else just buffs the snot outta him.

Sounds like we have 4 peeps out of 16 needed. I'm willing to PuG...I do it everyday, but wouldn't want to give one team an unfair advantage by throwing a Leeroy Jenkins at them.
I don't think you need to PUG this. Just set up a signup sheet with your event presented clearly for everyone to read, offer the cemented date/time for it (and make sure it doesn't conflict with anything else posted), and I think you'll have a good time of it. Mind you, it's not important for the teams to START at the same time, since the TF counter does the time calc for you; it's just important they get you the screenshot + results before, say, noon the next day.

Consider coordinating this the Freedom Horde (who gets together regularly for TF runs, typically commanded by E-Man and Luna), and with PERC as well. Lieran has recently taken the reins of resurrecting this player-centric entertainment group, and she may have resources available to her (banner making, advertisements via rednames, etc) that would lend considerable weight to your post. This is Freedom. The more you lay down ham, the more we'll scream "ZOMG BACON".

A contest between an all-Defender team and an all-Controller team.

I was thinking about 3 of the quick lvl 50 TF's (on different days if needed). Say ITF, LGTF, and either STF or KTF. (STF could be interesting) Lowest total time to complete wins. I was at first thinking of just one TF, but you never know if something weird could throw one run off. (DC's and such)

I've got a million Controllers, but would really want to bring my one Defender (Dark/Dark) along for this.

    Anyone interested?
I'd be interested. 3 TFs in a row would be murder for my schedule though; and if we get a bum team, the "quick" TFs can easily turn into a four hour ordeal.

I think a simple "race to the finish" for one TF a night is a better option (at least it is for me ). You can do 3 TFs, just do them on different nights, then tally the results at the end of the week. Doing it THAT way would give you a chance for color commentary and play-by-play discussions through the week, which makes it more of an event than just an one-night blitzkrieg.

I have one controller I can bring into the mix. My defender is only in the mid 30s, but is a viable option as well, depending on the level we roll and if a DEF is needed. My controller is my "fun fun fun" toon tho, so I'd prefer to run Dr. Turgenev for this.

Tempty: PUG teams can be a beautiful hit, or a horrifying miss. XD I appreciate the inherent horror, but PUGs tend to be better than average here.

Keep us updated, JKD. Sounds like a fun idea for a PVE version of DEF-CON (an old "defenders vs controllers" PVP challenge).

If it's the latter: Virtue be -----------> thataway.
If it's the former... good question. I'm not familiar with any adults-only channels for Freedom (or in general?). If anyone can add to this, I'd be curious to know.

That was our biggest problem too. We HAD the damage, but no truly effective debuffs (sorry MB) to where it could make a dent in his resistance in between his Unstoppable recyclings. (Is he vulnerable to Slow? Maybe your Warshade's inherent "Slow" debuff might help things along...)

  16. I never announced my toon for this. Ultima Ratio Regum (bs/shield scrapper).

  19. DC lucked out yesterday. The flurries we got barely stuck around before the wind kicked it right off.

It's 33 degrees now, but it "feels" warmer (when it's like 10-20, I guess that's a big difference...). We should hit the 40s today. Let the Great Capitol Thaw commence.

What do I need to do to earn all those badges?
Ah, a Wiki question. What's not included in the quote (but is mentioned on the main page) is that earning a badge for this takes 21 days of "offline time" in that location.

Let's say you want the Hero Day Job badge "Caregiver", which rewards you as you earn time with an "out of combat regeneration" buff. All you have to do is enter a Hospital, then log out. When you log back in, the time from your previous logout to now is tallied and added to your badge count.

A common misconception is that you have to REMAIN logged out for the full 21 days to get the badge. This is the fastest way to do it, but hardly necessary for casual badging/buff gathering. You only play a few hours a day, at most. The rest of that time is spent logged out, which will net you the badge nearly as fast.

The tally is permanent as well; so, if you've done half the work for Hospital, but the next time you log out in a graveyard instead, you haven't lost your Hospital tally, it's just not progressing. Just go back to the Hospital interior on your next log out, and it'll pick up where it left off.

More detailed information is found here. Bolding the pertinent bits, but you'll want to read the entire entry.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Day_Jobs

    Quote:
Introduced with Issue 13, the Day Job system allows characters to log out from a specific location, like a Hospital or Vault Reserve facility, and gain a temporary power or other benefit when they return to play after an extended period offline. Prolonged offline time in each Day Job is also worth Badges. All benefits granted by Day Jobs, other than badges, are temporary and expire after a certain amount of play time or number of uses. However, each time a character logs out from a Day Job area, the corresponding benefits are replenished.

There are Day Job Recruiters in Atlas Park, Galaxy City, and Mercy Island who give a brief overview of the Day Job system, some examples of badges and their log-out locations, and an even more brief overview of the Day Job Accolades.

I really want to know how the story ends.

That's one of the few arcs out there that has actually gotten me emotionally involved in it's resolution...
The story is going to end; I just had a A TON of life crises hit me in 2009 after I released Act II, so I had to put writing on the side to get my affairs straight.

(Nothing bad in the long run; my dog needed emergency spine surgery totalling $7K, so there was a big fiscal hit, but it's Thor, and he's worth it, and he's 120% better now; there was my wedding in October, and because of the $7K disappearing some last minute scrabbling from June to Oct to reinvent the wedding in a cheaper, more intimate, and frankly more satisfying format; and, well, the holidays, which having our families in NYC while we lived in DC meant we had to travel to my mom, her dad, her brother, my college bud, and so on, and so on...)

I wrote "IX" over the course of about 5 days, when I found out that Dr. Aeon had made a challenge. I hadn't dipped into MA in months by that point, and the theme of his challenge got me interested. Don't take this as an indication that I've perma-tabled "Ghost" - I haven't. I have a few drafts of Acts III and IV (although admittedly nothing substantial, I got distracted), but I'm hoping that we get some breathing room with MA file size "soon", so I can fix up Act II to where I wanted it to be but couldn't with custom mob limitations.

And yeah, Acts 3 AND 4. I had a (forced) opportunity this month to clean up Act I because of a critical bug, but took the time to smooth out some wrinkles like text corrections, some power balancing, etc. Once the file size fix comes in and I get Act II cleaned up, I'll re-release all of them in a final version format.
