Yeah, switched back to a default Aero theme, disabled/re-enabled, still no effect. If I'm in COH, I can't alt-tab or win-tab. I can in STO and MW2 so far, I think.
Looks like the 10.4 drivers are the win here. I'll be watching and will update when released. Thanks for the tips, all. -
I'll be in with Turg for some of this, later on honestly, but definitely in attendance.

Good morning:
I'm still stress-testing a Dell box I picked up last week with Win7 installed. In XP, I was able to alt-tab easily between multiple applications, even if they were in full screen mode (COH, for instance). I could also hit the Window key to bring up the Start menu.
In Win7, I'm unable to do that. COH stays perma-on top basically, preventing me to shift focus from COH to something else (Chrome, IE, Notepad, etc). Win-Tab is also likewise disabled.
I have a feeling this is an easy question. The only other post I saw in relation to this problem recommended going into maximized desktop mode - this can't be the final answer, is it? I was able to do this w/o issue in XP for six years running.
If there's a thread or post where this is discussed in detail, please direct me and I'll head there for investigation. Thanks. -
Quote:I'm basically running the above right now. Performance is liquid good on Live. Testing Ultra mode this weekend (no time the last week, wife's dad is in the hospital). Me (Gun Father) an' Zamb account for 2/3 of those deaths.
Good times! Thanks for hosting, Gintoki!

Aaah, sorry, I keep thinking today is the 29th... my bad, ignore me. Drugs are bad. (Still count me in tho.
Gun Father needs to exercise his flintlocks.)

*look at Chad's sig* Hey, I just friended one of your guys in STO the other night. Nice guy.
OP: Accolades should, in theory, link a series of themed badges. Being hard isn't a theme, it's a design flaw.I vote nay on those grounds.

Heya. Mind if I tag along on this? I'll either bring my new DP Blaster (Gun Father), or I might just roll out Dr. Turg so I can experience the new TF firsthand with my fav toon.

Ka-chiga. Ka-chiga. -
You can also search on "Buffer Overrun" in the forums for more info as to who their ranking officers are these days, I think. I seem to recall TopDoc being one of their overall staffers. At the very least, he could point you in the right direction.

Hrm. I think I can field something for this. Throw me down as a standby TBA in case someone more definite posts before I go thru my toons.

This is exactly the sort of catch-me-up I was hoping for. Thanks, all, I'll be setting up a Test client shortly. Been having too much fun running MW2 at highest rez.

Heya all:
I recently purchased a Dell system (Studio XPS 8100, i7-860 2.8Ghz octo, 8GB DDR3, ATI Radeon 5770 1GB) and am in the process of going thru a burn-in test and running my most recent games for FPS checks. Something I noticed with the ATI card vs my Nvidia GeForce 275 896MB is that the image quality seems a bit flat; most notably the inability for ATI drivers to handle FSAA AND hi-rez water textures/bloom, but also in general color depth.
I've updated to the latest Catalysts (had to, the ones that came with-system were atrocious), so until the 10.4's are out that's where I stand. My questions here:
1. Is there anything I can do to optimize my ATI card? BillZ's post from 2 years ago has a lot of activity in there and it's getting headachey to find something of use in that regard. However, "if it's in there", a link would be helpful, and I promise not to bother again.
2. Are there any other guidance worth noting for a new Win7/ATI user? My previous box was a diehard XP system (still working fine, just wanted Ultramode-level bling) with the Nvidia card, so I haven't paid attention to the ATI scene in a while. Sadly, I can't SLI in this box (but AFAIK COH doesn't get any benefit from SLI), but I'm open to any other bits of direction here.
Thanks all, and I look forward to your tutelage. XD

Quote:I was expecting that.It has been determined that Turg is a masochist...
We ran at +2 & it got quite difficult at times, but lots of fun.I wrote the arcs to be played at "Heroic" setting for good difficulty w/o going too nuts. Up the scale, and, well, you're asking for it...
If you don't mind, I'd like to hear what the good/bad parts where with a full team at +2 setting. PM me, or comment here or in my "Ghost" feedback thread? I need real feedback to know where to fix items if needed.
Thanks to everyone for running these! -
Woot?Thanks for the code, Ocho!

I can bring a few toons to this (die, log out, login next one same spot, die, etc). PM me here to coordinate on the time. I'm typically available post-10pm eastern.

Quote:It's four missions total. I built it to run solo in about an hour or so.I believe that this arc is shorter than Act I - if we finish in a timely manor, I have another short arc in mind that we might want to run as well.
Since you're running this with a large team... can you tell me how mission 2's spawn points are running? There are placed items that seemed to stack on the first iteration. I fixed it, but at some point early this year I was getting reports of it breaking again, so if you see that, please tell me.
Cheers, and thanks for running the arc! (Acts 3 and 4 coming this summer! I know, I keep putting it off... just waiting for that filesize doubling...) -
Nuts, I missed the signup too... GL to the crew for this tho.

Quote:Here ya go. Damn if this didn't take me forever to find stuff on it, all the silly Icelandic umlauts and crap threw me off. And remember, Whole Foods stock this.Hey Turg, what's Hofdingi cheese? Sounds like it might be one of those tasty, pungent cheeses.
Quote:Randburg.com describes it as A creamy-soft, almost runny cheese with a white rind/crust and a smooth, mild flavor. -
Quote:Thanks. To be honest, when I named the arc, it was after coming up with the general idea, then thinking of a name to suit it. If you haven't run it yet, I won't give spoilers, but the wording fits absolutely.Turg, you a fan of horror movies? Nice name for the mission
(There was some minor stress in Issue 14 beta because another author had just posted an arc with the same name, which prompted me to tack in the "Turg Fiction:" prefix to distinguish the two. THAT prefix is from my old Planetside fan fiction days... but I digress...)
The name origin is actually a commentary on Descartesian philosophy for the mind/body connection. Is there a horror film with the same name? The only modern connection I make is with an awesome album by The Police... -

Russian Black Bread, 6y. It beats your pansy pumpernickel an' gets all the girls while doing it.
(Seriously, I get these loaves from Whole Foods. Fantastic with Hofdingi cheese, or a salted brie. Takes anything you throw at it too, from lox to caviar on cream cheese.) -
Thanks for signing up a team for this. I recently retweaked Act I, so if you can keep an eye out for any problem areas for me since the tweaking last December, I'd be grateful.
