  1. We tried a "mixed" team trio redside (villains and freshly-converted-to-evil Heroes) last night. We blitzed thru the pillars and the initial AV spawns easily, but even with several doses of the -res nuke (Chemical Burn), we had ZERO impact on the AV's health bar. I know there were at least two debuffers on my team; can't vouch for the others, but you'd assume there'd have to be at least 2-3 more, and I know we kicked off those nukes. Still, nada.

I'm willing to try this again, to collate more concrete data than anything (well, winning is good too ). If you know of anyone setting up a run redside, holler @Turgenev and I'll bring my guns.

I don't think Zaion disagrees with you. She was commenting on someone who said "They really, really, REALLY need to ditch the whoe FoW idea. With the internet, it's pointless, since it's easy to find the maps."
  3. Heya hon:

I'm gonna be late tonight for a 10pm run, so take me off this list for now. Sorry, I'll say hi when I get on though.

You kidding me? I'm the king of Master fail runs. I get invited to a team, and players-in-the-know cross themselves. You're FINE.
  5. I'd rather they'd just up the value, myself. It helps for me, as a badger, to know where one of my toons has been or not.
  6. Hey. I'm a good maybe for this, but it depends when I get home. Toon TBA for now. Thanks as always for setting this up!
  7. Judging from your first post, my guess is the corn buffer was overflowing. Glad to see it's cleared up. Welcome to Freedom. Are you from around here?

  8. I think I'm in, about 90% sure honestly, but I may have a dinner engagement that evening that would cause me to back out (and if it does I'll update here). Toon TBA.
  9. Didn't find any reference to this earlier today, so plonking this in the Bugs forum for awareness and/or corroboration.

    Some background:

The reference "fog of war" is the phrase given to the unopened "dark" areas on your map for a given zone. When you first log in to COH in Atlas Park, for example, the map is "opened" immediately around you, with the rest of the area only partially revealed. Once opened, the fog of war would stay opened for the rest of your toon's life.

When the new Faultline debuted back in issue 8 (and honestly, was noticed beforehand with the Shard zones), players who'd previously opened all their zone maps noticed they could not open Faultline's fog of war map permanently (i.e., it would reset when you'd leave the zone). Once this was seen as a fault point, the Devs addressed it shortly after Issue 8's release. The problem here was basically a "ceiling value" for how much of a fog of war you could reveal. The previous value was set back in the days of COH's release, which had less zones than it had by issue 8. That ceiling value was increased, and fog of war has begun to work again for players.

With issue 18 opening the opposing side to players, this behavior has begun again, where we've apparently hit the fog of war ceiling value. I've opened up all but 3 COV zones, not including the Praetorian areas (which aren't available as of yet).

Feel free to chime in with your own experience; if you've opened all the COH maps and are able to do the COV maps as well, I'd be interested in hearing from you. Other players have noted the behavior I outlined above, however, so I'm presuming from that small data set that it's probably a universal issue.
  10. AFAIK a new map's not up yet, but their host is down for now anyway. Look for posts by BeefCake for more info, I think.
  11. Welcome to Freedom, Imbalmer! There are quite a few Justice peeps here nowadays (including an old friend of mine who's resubbed for GR who left in 2005 or so), so I'm sure you'll have a nice meeting with new and old faces.

So get out there, make some friends, and keep the blood flowin' and the hospitals busy for your time on Freedom.

Hm. Does the Mac Pack "teleport to mission" power work to get a hero to Praetoria, I wonder?
  13. I'll say from experience that your CPU and vidcard can do with a boost. My 8800 didn't do very well at ultra-mode maxxed out (about 10 fps), but shinying that up to a 275, then off to an ATI 5770 gives me consistent 45-60fps when paired with an octocore 2.8Ghz Intel chip and 8GB RAM on a 64 bit OS. You can buy a prebuilt system like that for under $1K, or hash it together individually for cheaper. I'd give yourself more RAM anyhow if you can, presuming you've got an OS license for a 64 bit solution.
  14. Freedom was having a similar problem around 730am Eastern today. Let's see what a dose of maintenance can do in the meantime.

Emphasis added. That's your problem. Before level 10, you're debt free. As of Going Rogue/Issue 18, they have HardCore(tm) error correction in place to see if JFSers are rolling without debt. If no debt, then the game stops the wheel and asks you to get off.

They obviously didn't take into account the pre-level 10 debt-free dynamic. Ultimately, this means no new toons for you until they can accommodate you more fully.

...oh, and there's a patch this morning too, so update your clients, everyone.
  17. Sorry for bailing. I got caught up in a Master RSF with Doc Turg. I was also the first to die. So die all who betray E-Man.

This, basically. Chill, everyone. You weren't here for the Turg Cryfest of 2007 with the first double XP weekend. This'll be an improvement.

I think it should just be used for anyone who swaps servers with a toon. Think of how much money that would bring in from the badger community.

Or, get rid of it entirely for US server players. There are a few people who have this due to a bug, and it's inappropriate to have on the US shores. This would be a bug fix. But if you want to make it for anyone who transfers, that would keep in spirit of the intent.

I'd imagine it would have to do with needing the engineer support staff awake, along with the various Devs and QA crews to moderate the maintenance update to make sure everything goes according to plan. That, and hey, there are players in the wee hours of the morning too, what about their needs?
  22. Thanks for the tip, Aurealis.

That's Ultra mode kicking in. The color enhancements on the GUI are improved with ambient occlusion. Just wait 'til you start typing. Ultra Mode really changes how you login!

*ducks the tomatoes* Yeah, seeing the new GUI was a "Whuuuuu?" moment for me today too. At least they're doing the prework a day early this time.

I think something got goofed up here though. The login GUI is the new one for GR, not the standard one.

Did the Site Operations team flip the "Going Rogue" switch a day early?

Bring whomever you want, just know your role. i.e., don't log in your blaster Glass Jaw Magilicutti, then proceed to absorb Reichsman's aggro. This IS a Master run. Screwing up takes away 50 points from Gryffindor.
