ya know j, you could get more entries if mr. trix would put it on the MOTD for FE...
[/ QUOTE ]
We don't need that. All the people who would sign up have already read this thread. They know who they are.
I am disappointed at Freedom again. Apparently its greed level has dropped ta white.
aka theys chicken!

I'd love to do this run, but Doc Turg's O2 Boost has no chance in hell of keeping you mooks alive.
...now, if by the rules of engagment, you simply allowed me to do all the FIGHTING, yeah, I'd prolly win this.
Good luck, signees. Make it a drinking game, chug a shot of Ouzo every time someone JFS's on the floor. You'll be plastered within twenty minutes. -
Ran a few "Kill Em All" ITFs, where we make the commitment that nothing, and we mean NOTHING, is left alive before we leave a map.
Did those 'til I moved in to my house in Jan, fell off the wagon since then...

There are many sorts of people.
Some people say, "Hey, I got X. I'm happy."
Others say, "I have X and you don't. I'm happy."
I personally don't want the latter sort of person to be happy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget, "You have X and I don't. I won't be happy until I have it too, you don't have it either."
And, here we are. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm hoping we can convince whoever needs convincing (Positron? Synapse?) to let those badges stay, purchasable with tickets. I really don't want to lose a lot of those titles, and not even because of the badge count, but because they just look so neat under my character's name.
[/ QUOTE ]
This would be a nice idea, but it would open the door again to accusations of "farming for badges", you're just changing the method farming (from killing X mobs for Y badge to killing X mob for Y tickets to buy Z badge).
I'm hoping for a return of the badges over time, just staggered in low tier to high tier requirements so people aren't rushing to get every single badge in the first week. But we'll see. They're just badges.
(I will miss "Bard" however. Sigh. =/) -

Thanks! See you all in-game!

Welcome aboard, and keep your eyes peeled on the forum here for any organized runs, red side or blue. Cheers! -
Got mine in late April. I'd give the exact date, but it'd give some people conniptions that I don't feel like inviting.
Cheers to the half-decade players!

What the hell do you guys do with all those characters? How can anyone have more than 3 ACTIVE toons, there's not enough time in the day to do any more than that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I have something on the order of 8000 hours on my main toon. I have four other 50s, but Doc Turg's the skin that wears the best. I know plenty of altoholics tho. I just shake my head at their schizophrenia.
[/ QUOTE ]
8000 hours is amazing. When I hit 50 I am done with that character. I'll bring it back on sometimes to assist or for a TF/SF, but there is really no reason for me to keep playing it so I don't . It's story is complete, but there are many other stories to tell.
[/ QUOTE ]
See, I'm the exact opposite. For me, 50 isn't the end of the road at all. For me, the story's ongoing, all the time. Just because your ability to grow plateaus doesn't mean the character or build isn't fun to play. I've had that illusion/storm since May 2004 - years before it turned into a FOTM variant, and the style/build with Doc Turg sits the best with me, partially because it's "my" personality when I play him. I have four other 50s that I really dig playing, but at the end of the day, when someone says "bring whatever toon your want", it's always Doc T that makes the list.
And yeah, different strokes for different folks. Some people love the variety, which I can respect; and DAMN, that guy with 270 toons he logs in for badges... I thought my 24 toons were bad enough. XD The best part about this system? It accommodates ALL player types! -

I think you should all cut the OP some slack. This game is old, and not only that, look how many people have already played it!

So you're saying that CoH is...well traveled?

I was thinking more like the village bike, but that's the Austin Powers in me.

this game should lower its monthly fee to $9.99 instead of 14.99 imo. its getting old. its 5yrs old now. any game this old should not be going for 14.99/month still. if the rate wasn't so high i would keep my subscription going for a longer time. since its so high i will only subscribe for one more month before quiting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do what I do. Pay in annual installments. That works out to $12/mo. It's not $10, but it's close, and once it's paid, I can forget about it for a year. -

Hiya, im a lvl 50 scrap, and me and a kickass lvl 50 controller are looking for 6 other lvl 50's (MUST BE 50!!!) to go kill uber monsters in ''The Hive''. This is just for fun, cash and items will be split even, on succes. These monsters are really hard, not to mention the damage they do. crit is 1300 X 2. We need 6 people with good characters:
List of requirements for team that could make it:
*A tanker with either insane ammounts of HP and Def, or a Force shield that renders him invulnerable.
*Someone that can stun really good.
*A debuffer.
* 3 damage dealers, either scrap/blast!
Contact me Ingame: FelineMenace
OR preferbly reply on this thread!
[/ QUOTE ]
Heya:
If I can ask, any reason for doing this in the Hive in particular? You can fight the same monsters in Peregrine Island, which is an unlocked zone and offers some flexibility for teaming/transportation.
Just curious for the convenience factor, wasn't sure if you were trying to do a run on monsters for a Hami spawn or what. I assume "FelineMenace" is your global? -
Y'know... I'm thinking the whole "500/600/700" badge threads need to be stickied.
Grats, Capt.

2 accounts and close to 270 characters, here. Yes, I logged every single one of them in. It *Is* tedious, but if you want the badges for em, then you'll do it. I did a server each day.
[/ QUOTE ]
My hat's off to you. You're an example to hardcore badgers planetwide. -
[ QUOTE ]
They could, they'd just have it be Neutral.
[/ QUOTE ]
They already do that; what you're asking for, though, is akin to a writer-designed hard lock based on ethics. I think, instead of a lock, a popup "hey, you sure" would be a nice little QoL feature: Heck, if the arc writer could customize it, it'd be even better. (e.g., "Hi, Turg here: I noticed you're evil. Well, in this arc, you'll be saving a planet of puppies. Not very evil, so if you're hoping to kill them, try arc X.") -
Write it like writing the catch lines for a movie poster. Be concise, brief and phrase it in a way to hook your audience. Save the "well, I meant to build the mission for XYZ reasons" for your feedback thread (which you can also include in TinyURL format in your desc). If something is critical to running the arc (that it's built around players of a certain level, ethos or team size), then include that in your desc at the end, but I'd just focus on the solid one-liner to best snag your audience.

Why did they let Villains play Heroic arcs, and vice vesra?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because as there are coop scenarios, MA should reflect that circumstance. I think there'd be outrage from the writer's guild if they couldn't write their "end of the world, heroes and villains unite" arcs.
On that note: It'd be nice to have a popup for a player come up that, when you play an arc of an opposing ethic, it states, "You realize, you're evil, but this is set to heroic, are you sure you want to soil your wicked fingers?" Just so they realize it when they play. -
Update: I stripped out all the contents of my critters and group folders, and just have the raw arc in the mission folder. File size went from 104% on my home PC down to 97%. Do the same thing on my laptop, and I show 100.00%... I'm afraid to add a period to a sentence...
I've passed the arc file to another user for review, so let's see what she finds using the power of math. (Name that superhero!) -

Encountered an intermittent boss-spawn bug that affects the final mission for Act II. Reviewing now, may take it down pending debug. (I'm tempted to unpub it for size concerns too, most people who've played it don't understand why I'm capped at 100% with it as-is.) About 10% of players have experienced the bug thus far, and that's too damn high for me to want to keep it up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Update: Act II's final boss complaints from my feedback pool have leveled off a bit, but I got two comments last night on the boss for mish 3 (the Croatoa outdoor map) for a potential failure to spawn as well - leads me to think that it's less to do with the map than it is for triggered bosses just not spawning effectively, period, but I'm no QA person... I'm still tossing this around on whether to unpub for now due to filesize problems, or keep it up and fully advertise... the filesize problems are my biggest issue here, which forced me to remove a mish that I'd originally intended as a "wrap up" mish for the varying plot threads and manage it better. Right now, I'm having to condense that into the mission intro/outro hint and clues, and it's not nearly as flowing as I'd like it to be. ;( -

It's an option. It harms no one but the incredibly and ridiculously stupid. The only arguments against this are "people might whine" and "I don't care about this option."
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, most of the arguments have stated "it's a security policy for a reason that NCSoft has decided to enact, and giving the option returns no realistic benefit while opening the door to a tsunami of moronitude." If I had to manage those "incredibly and ridiculously stupid" paying customers? I'd have a system just like this to keep things sane, sure. -

You have too much time on your hands MB.

Funny, in my head I heard MB say, "Memorial Day was on the 31st in 2004. 2004 and 1999. On a Monday. Definitely. Definitely in a Monday."

[ QUOTE ]
I have just under 85 active characters. By 'active' I mean I still play them. I have some placeholder characters, and some supergroup fill-up characters on servers I don't play on, and I have 55 'deleted' characters.
Logging them in takes a bit of time.
Since I've changed my screen definition about 2 months ago (I *love* my 32" HDTV on my desk!), it's funny seeing just how MANY characters I haven't logged on for 'a while'. 435days on Pinnacle not logged on is prolly the longest.
However, logging in and updating my spreadsheet, takes a lot of time, especially if I decide to go find an NPC whose name begins with the letter M to find out my /played time (number of hours played).
That led to some interesting results. A level 25 'AE' toon with 3 hours /played. A level 42 blaster with 33 hours played.
My first L50 "Archvillain Q" I played a -heap- at L50 doing Hamidon Raids (pre Issue 9) and he's got my most logged on at 750hours, even though I've hardly touched him since 2006.
The Role-Play L49 villain I created 'Relentless Revenger' is a snappy 129 hours for L49, which is quite fast for me (and none of that AE cheating or other PowerLevel either).
On Justice, I have 25 characters now, the richest has 119M, a couple more have over 100M, and my total worth there is just about 750M, which is peanuts compared to the 'real' power-gamers out there.
I've logged in all my characters on Freedom (17), Infinity (8). Chamption (6), Justice (25) and Liberty (6), with Victory and Virtue left for tomorrow (since 3 hours logging in characters and updating my spreadsheet, really detracts from actual play time).
Who else finds the 'better get the badge' logon-race a little, er, tedious?
[/ QUOTE ]
Badges are hard. But we do what we must.
/nope, no problems here, did it in 20 minutes the day it came out. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is dumb anyway. You people just like arguing for the sake of arguing.
[/ QUOTE ]
No we're not. It's just that it's a bad idea that adds nothing but potential grief to the Devs and to players while benefiting a tiny but amazingly persistent minority. -
Provided we can get there, I'd be down with it, sure. I'd love a crack at it with all of my Freedom resources.

[ QUOTE ]
Why does it bother you if someone has the option to reduce security on their own account?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because it's unnecessary. I mean, seriously, you're quibbling over the time it takes to type a password here. "After five years", how long does it take you to type the same password? Mine's burned into motor memory by now, I can do it in 0.2 seconds.
"I'd like the right to do something dumb." Well, no. Here's a policy that safeguards the vast majority of the gamer population, so there. If you want the right to do something dumb, post your credit card here, and be sure to include those newfangled identification numbers while you're at it. At least someone here who's had to listen to you would profit by it.
