I love your attention to detail, and your tech objects that your created are just amazing. You have a great vision and makes me say, "people can do that with bases"?.

Just finished the top floor which i wraped around the vault. I was able to add two insperation bins, two workshop tables and three empowerment stations. I closed off the top glass and added some wires to give it that hightech feel. Played around with the room color from white to a deep purple which really made the stairs look nice. Now I just have to do some tweaking and the room will be done!

Quote:I like the arcane bridge, and nice stack on the drain pipe. I was messing around with an "all wood" wall cabinet...the ones that are long. I used it as a door that leads out the sewer. With the green room glow, it makes it look like a real sewer door and you can easily add steps for the full effect. Thanks for all the help... Here are some screens of the entrance to my base, so you can see what I've done with it

I also used the lowest ceiling height for all of this, except directly over the bridge, where if you look up I've used some recessed flourescents to try and make it look like a grate to the street above.
The base is a total work in progress... Even the entry way has some walls I haven't finished (Floating blocks with the accent lamps is such a pain at times, I get tired of it after a while and have to take a break) and the interior of the base needs a ton of work. I've built it up solo, with a bunch of alts, to the point where I have a supercomputer, generator and two capacitors or whatever they're called, and six telepads, and upgraded to the first plot upgrade.
I'm still working on getting it all the way I want though, barely started really. The idea is that it's an abandoned Rikti shelter that my SG leader found and it's being slowly converted to be a working base and hideout. I want to get the base somewhat "finished" before I start inviting people to the SG.
I'm going for a really tricky mix of tech and primitive... basically meant to represent scrounged and found items having been slapped together with duct tape by the group's gadgeteer. So it's got a long long way to go, but the entrance is almost done at least. Thanks guys! -
Quote:I just looked at that again and liked how you did the base floor with the red covered by desks. I'm kidnapping that thought!"The room on the left looks like a Star Tek porter. Is that what you had in mind?"
Guess it kinda does huh. Nope, set it up for a decon chamber with security check point, as the corridor there leads to our vault area.
I originally had those vents in all the porters as well, nice look, but I found that with the porters, "sunk" into the floor some, the porter access panels became unreachable. -
My speedster is Turbo Starr which happened to be my first character. He is MA/SR. With IO's he has a boost of 40% run speed and quickness from his secondary. Very fun, especially when fighting and suppressed.

Good call, I was messing around with that on my FF controller and bots mastermind.

Quote:On a side note, I am almost done with the second level. I am deciding what to put in the middle. I messed around with an insperation bin, but it was to big and took away from the vault. I was thinking of getting creative with some tech stuff but wasnt sure if I should fill it with something or leave it blank? I added an enhancer bin between the glass window and am messing around with another third floor level right below the bin itself.
Just finished another lower room. It has no purpose, but its for decoration. I call it the research/lab room. Hope you guys like it!
I need another week and I should be done with the room. Now I am trying to figure out how to add two insperation bins on the third level. Will post again soon.

I was actually going to send you a tell about that. Thanks for posting!

Naw, heh, ran outa prestiage. Finally got enough to finish up that room and add the last port to "war zone". I'll post a pic later. Thanks again for the idea.

Quote:I came across that problem too. Cant wait to see what you came up with, please do post soon!I put in three floors in my workshop yesterday but decided I didn't like the way it had turned out. There wasn't enough space in my design to fit salvage storage between the floor and ceiling without having them clip into the floor or ceiling of another floor. So instead, I removed the third floor and elevated the second floor just enough to fit storage items underneath it.
Because I won't need any desks for a third floor, the second floor will probably be L-shaped or elongated to provide more space. However, it probably won't go wall-to-wall so I can give the room a nice open feeling.
Still a WIP though - I'll post pictures when I'm happy with it, as time allows.

I was able to finish the lowest level. It has approximately 5 salvage storage bins and a few decorative items. I played around with adding some lights on the floor roof, but to be honest, it was too bulky so I passed by it. I was thinking of adding a computer desk for decoration along the wall or near the rest rooms. Now I can begin work on the middle floor which will house inspiration bins and crafting tables.

They are Stackers Light Stairs. Simple link to follow and easy.

Thanks Obsidius.
Here are the first screens of my idea. The lighting isnt set yet, but will be a deep blue or purple to enhance the light stairs. The walls were made using the smaller tech storage bins and I used floor lamps to adjust the height for stacking. The lower floor is going to be all salvage storage. I really hope that we can add more then just 30 a bin. I think at one point, salvage bins could house over 999+ units.
The second floor is for inspirations and crafting with IO bins and work tables. The top floor will be empowering stations and creative tech stuff. Maybe I will add lounge chairs with a TV as a hang out spot or something to that effect. Still lots more to do. Hope these arent to big for your screens!

So like many of you, I am bothered by the fact that we have a limit to the number of storage and workshop units we can place in a room. I really dont want to take up plot space and have multiple workshop rooms, so I just decided to make a 3 floored workshop room with all the necessities of two rooms. Like in my previous posts about building a Sewer Layout and Space Station, I want to keep the design simple and tasteful staying with the tech theme throughout.
I will post pictures daily with my progression and ask you guys for criticism as I start building this room. Any ideas or previous work that you have done with workshops would be appreciated! I have been looking through this thread all morning getting some ideas when I was supposed to be on conference calls ohhh well. So far I am going to use stackers light stairs in conjunction with my glass windows for sure. To be posted soon!!! -
Is there validity in this?? Quick Sun, run the numbers!

Good point Tyrak. Also, you can move the entire base plot around making the entrance room appear to be in the center of the base or on the corners.

Can you make one for stacking glasses without the clip?

I agree and its very clean! Looks sharp, more please
