There was a HUGE post right here.
Now there is not.
I spent the time between 1:50 and 4:15 AM getting the arc updated per these suggestions and some alterations of my own.
Here's hoping that all makes for more interesting, more exciting play!
Airhead, should you wish to give it a rerun to see what it's like adjusted, be my guest, although I'm certainly not demanding it. Thank you for your considerable input already, and take care.

Got to say I really liked the arc, being a fan of 80s shows in general and of Miami Vice in partcular (see the full DVD set over there by my tv). The only concerns I'd have had were with the mentioning of "moody 80s song" or some such, but I understand why that had to be--not wanting to risk infringement. Most of them can be found on various "Best of Miami Vice" type CDs, at least, or any good collection of 80s music.
As for the toon I ran through this? It was a level 40 Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster, partnered with a level 37 Dual Blades/Willpower Tank, both exemplared to 20. We had no troubles with it at all. Here's a pic of Pistola, my toon. When I designed Pistola in the first place, I wanted someone that hearkened back to the "bad boy, biker outfit" vibe that hails from sources like The Terminator, Streets of Fire, the Mad Max movies, and other similar shows. I think he was a good fit for this arc, overall.
All in all, an exceptional arc well worth recommending to friends! -
Thank you for your feedback, Sister Twelve. And, while I didn't necessarily have a physically younger audience in mind, I can see where that would potentially be viewed as the case, from the rescue of Santa to the big reveal being that of rescuing a penguin with superpowers. My intended audience (to use the language I bring out in my college English courses) was that of someone looking for a quick, short arc, with a fair amount of "It's a game; have fun with it!" sprinkled in. I was indeed looking to do something "fun-centered" with the arc; one other player has labeled the arc as an "offbeat origin story," which is perfectly fine by me. PENGUIN is not the conventional graphic novel or hard-edged modern comic. If anything, it hearkens back to the silliness and camp frequently seen in books from the '60s.
There is indeed more to learn about Waddle's experience, and that is the sequel to this arc, which is Waddle's Revenge (302196). In that arc, you get to see more of what really drives the penguin in question--what he loves, what he really doesn't enjoy at all, and what he's willing to do to exact his own sort of childishly minded justice. That story is a little more upbeat in the telling, with a shadow cast over the penguin and his sense of right and wrong.
If you ever want to give that arc a try, whether you review it or not, be my guest! Thanks again for the good review. -
Hi there, Coulomb2! I just now saw your thread, and I was pleased to see you had reviewed Polar Emergence Neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN) earlier; thank you for your feedback on that. If you have any slots open, would you consider reviewing its sequel, Waddle's Revenge (302196)? It's level range 30-40 first mission, 30-54 missions two through four. If you don't, that's perfectly fine, but I'd love to hear what you think of the rest of Waddle's story.
Thanks for your consideration! -
Ooooo! Multiple kinds of cookies being passed around? Nom nom nom. . . .
Happier Tubbius. -
Justice dropped like a rock.
"Mapserver Disconnect? I've never seen that message. . . ."
"Ah, man! And the team leader just said we'd run my PENGUIN arc next!"
Sad Tubbius. -
If you would like, here are two arcs (my second and fourth arcs of the seven I've done) that are sequential.
Polar Emergence Neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN), arc 29205. Find out the truth behind Crey's mysterious PENGUIN project!
Waddle's Revenge, arc 302196. Waddle, from the PENGUIN project, strikes out for revenge against Crey Biotech--but what exactly does he want from them?
PENGUIN has 3 missions, levels 30-54, against Crey and Winter Horde; Waddle's Revenge has 4 missions, first mission levels 30-40 and the other three levels 30-54, starring Fifth Column, Crey, and Security Guards.
Have fun! -
I'd really love it if you could give Polar Emergence Neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN) a try. It's arc 29205, three missions, levels 30-54, with Crey and Winter Horde.

Looking for a pair of arcs that simply ooze old school Christmas sentiments? Want stuff you can play quickly, enjoy, and share with your friends? Want to see the ONE plump Santa Claus in what seems like the whole darn game?
Then you've come to the right forums thread!
This one's a two parter, of sorts--or maybe a one-and-a-half-parter, depending on how you view an arc and its prequel.
The fun all begins in City of Ho Ho Ho, or A Claus in Paragon (arc 18775): three fairly short, level 5-20 missions starring Outcasts, Trolls, Santa, and YOU. This arc gives you the chance to save Santa, find his wish list, and learn just what, particularly, the Outcasts and Trolls have against the man in the big red suit!
Then, indulge your EVIL side, and look at the events in the first arc from the perspective of the villain who masterminded it all! This is City of Ho Ho Help: A Prequel (arc 267125). Smash Paragon police, security guards, Trolls, and Santa (GASP!) from the safety of your own computer!
The second arc covers events that take place before and up through the second mission of City of Ho Ho Ho and is best played after the other one to get the full understanding of the experience. It contains four level 5-20 missions--more Christmas holiday fun!
Read your right-click information on characters, your clues, and your mission information! Check your Architect Souvenirs after each arc for goodies all around! It's a wondrous lil' fun-time distraction from--shudder--the REST of Paragon City!

Here's Waddle the Penguin, a charming little ally (being nominated for Best Character) from various arcs of mine, namely:
Polar Emergence Neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN), arc 29205 (mission 3 of 3)
This Costume Contest Sponsored by Tubbius, arc 101933 (missions 1 and 4 of 4)
Waddle's Revenge, arc 302196 (mission 4 of 4)
Annnnd here are some screenshots of everyone's favorite child-minded penguin! For those wondering, these shots come from PENGUIN (1st shot) and Waddle's Revenge (2nd and 3rd shots).

I've been seeing lots of 1-3 star ratings on my stuff lately and wondering where they've been coming from. An arc will sit at 5 stars for a few days, and then, BAM, it suddenly goes to the bottom of my list of published arcs with a couple ratings added on and zero to fifteen tickets to show.
Sad Tubbius. -
MCM, everything ok? Haven't heard from you lately.
Just a note to say that Fox Hunt (sixth arc, #334049) and Hammer and Sickle of Paragon City (seventh arc, #351727) are both online and awaiting that MCM Review Touch!
-
That's cool, Roderick. Of course, I'd gather that Dirk there's running off his own experience. It's good to see other Santa lookalikes out there sharing the Christmas spirit.
Thank you for your input! Any others out there who might be worthy of note? -
Oooooooo.
Well, needless to say, I very much like the idea. What we need, I reckon, is a Great Santa Contest or some such. Maybe.
So, how many other Santa-lookalikes are there in this game?
Anyway, here's Tubbius's usual look, courtesy of Photobucket!

Had fun with it! Glad PENGUIN got some plays (And, yes, "Neutral" should be capped in the title, and is in the arc itself!), and glad folks generally had fun with it.
We need a contest for best Christmas-themed arc next. . . . Who's with me? -
If you'd like to review it, MCM, Fox Hunt is up for review when you get time. I've not made any changes since you ran it the other day, but I might in the future. If you want to run it for review, however, in its current state, that's fine by me.
I'll be working on arc 7 here soonish, once I get caught up on grading, too.
-
Mm. I know you said origin stories are a pet peeve of yours, BUT. . . how about a lil' something to get into a holiday spirit? Might I make a request that you try "City of Ho Ho Ho, or A Claus in Paragon" when you have time? It's arc 18775, by @Tubbius. It's short, easy-going fun for 3 missions, levels 5-20.
If you would rather not, there're no hard feelings, of course.

Edit to add: Thanks for the willingness to try it out!
Edit for content: Minor adjustment to wording so as not to make it look like the title had a question mark in it -
If you're looking for something quick, fun, and not too tough to review, try out my "City of Ho Ho Ho, or A Claus in Paragon," arc 18775. It's just the thing to get you in the Christmas COH spirit and make you purchase 1,300 candy canes at Wentworth's!
I did that. I'm sitting on 1,328. <_< -
If that's permissible, yes. My schedule's crazy tight for the next week, so I can't guarantee that I'd be able to return a play on an arc any time soon.
Thanks again, this time for your quick reply.
-
Might I make a quick request, Aisynia? If you find time and interest, could you please run my City of Ho Ho Ho, or A Claus in Paragon? It's arc 18775, 3 missions long, levels 5-20. It stars Outcasts and Trolls for the villains. My global is @Tubbius.
Whether you are able to make time for it or not, thank you for your consideration.

Oooo, pretty pictures!
*Tubbius and his hordes of penguins watch and wait. . .* -
Sticking to one thread that you can update sounds good to me.
-
WAHOO! PENGUIN was nominated.
Yay! Happy me!
Now if I would just break down and play other people's arcs, I'd have stuff to submit. -
Wish I knew.
There should be Santa's red hat, the photo of Waddle and Simons, Pistola's cracked orange sunglasses, a bag of Go Nuts Donuts, and an orange gas mask.
EDITED TO ADD: Fox Hunt, arc 334049, is now live! Starring Tubbius Regalis! -
That was a good read. Thanks, MCM! I'm glad you had a good time.
I'll think if I can do something with Waddle's Revenge. We'll see!
For those of you wondering, the next arc in the series is likely going to be Pistola-centric, but we'll see about that, too!
Also, MCM, remember to look back at your architect souvenirs! Collect them all, one in every arc!
Edited to add: I've designed three new NPCs for use in the next arc. We'll see if Pistola's even involved at all! He might be.
