    GR vs CoV

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Yes we eventually got our epics

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait, what? You got them in Issue 7 didn't you, with the 40-50 content? Exactly the same as Heroes did with their 40-50s.

I'll agree with you on the content thing, GR better match up in terms of Content to Villains. Given that so far we only know there are 2 new sets though, as oppose to the myriad Villains gave there's a fair bit of catching up to do.

True GR is an expansion rather than a "full game" as Villains was billed but there's still an awful lot expected from me content-wise.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually villain epics were added in Issue 12.

I've got to say that as someone who's never delved deep into game mechanics most if the posts (including the OPs) are beyond me.

I am actually quite happy with that

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Care to enlighten?

    [/ QUOTE ]

We're all nerds who take this game way to serious, he isn't.

    Colours !

    [ QUOTE ]
I won't be colouring anything, because some killjoy git decided that Kheldians aren't allowed to colour their powers for no sensible reason whatsoever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a sneaking suspicion this has something to do with adapting the powers for both the Kheldian ATs is about as much work as all the other AT's combined.
Personally I like the Kheld colours so I'm not that fussed (not to mention that I could do without an invasion of pink squids, 's gonna be enough 'funny' toons around as is.)
  4. TrueMetal

    Colours !

My invul brute is getting his auras changed to make them as invisible as possible. Other than that ... I really don't know.

edit: Ah yes, my newly created energy/energy blaster is getting his powersets a bit more colour coordinated. Haven't decided on which colour though.
  5. A "customisable hellfire whip" even! That combined with the fact that they chose to give thermal to MM's indicates that the demons will be largely fire based. Behemoth anyone?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Did i read right.. brutes with claws?

Serious, ever seen a granite doing a backflip? I soooooo gonna make one

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /em backflip?
  7. I think Praf hit the nail on the head.

    I16 and Farming?

    [ QUOTE ]

Reason: Once you're lvl 50 drop rates drop dramatically, so you'd still have to stop at lvl 47-49. I've done a bunch of TFs and SFs lately and tend to get so little out of it, it almost turns me off the whole ordeal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is this a fact or just your gut feeling? Genuine question, this is the first time I've ever heard of this and I can't say I noticed it myself. Would strike me as quite odd if this were true.

    [ QUOTE ]
What IS the point in slaying thousands of Romans when all you get is a poxy 28 merits and perhaps a few standard recipes and possibly a pacing of the sh1tt3r (just honoring Smurfnof, the pacing-expert)? Yeah, I know, soloing/duoing gives more drops - now isn't THAT great btw? - but it's still silly. I'd rather grind 6M inf in the MA and buy the stuff than solo papers/ouro til I get fed up and shoot myself out of boredom.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The point? Fun maybe? Why else would you do it? If simply playing this game stops being fun for me I'll drop my subscription faster than a nagging girlfriend. I really don't get people who complain that they haven't anything fun to do since issue x, but stick around solely ( or so it seems anyway) to nag about it on the boards. Cancel your sub (or keep it running) and go find something worthwhile to do you DO enjoy untill stuff gets added to CoH you do enjoy.

I do agree that the recipe drop rate on teams compared to solo is rediculous though.

    I16 and Farming?

    [ QUOTE ]
No one plays CoX so they can enjoy killing mobs. The great majority want expensive enhancements to improve their character, because it's just natural for people to strive to be the best they can be, and this means making the best out of their character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Presumptuous much? I play this game because it's easy to pick and play, not time intensive AND I simply enjoy killing mobs with my super powers. I play this game because it does not have tons of l33t gear that I NEED to have to be able to be somewhat competitive with my fellow team mates and that requires me to play for hours on end to get said gear. I liked the addition of the invention system because some crafting and some 'loot' is fun to tinker with. But the addition of 'extra rare' purple stuff (and now the pvp IO's) were a bridge to far for me. Not all's bad though, every time I find a purple it allows me largely kit out another lvl 50. Especially the last couple of months. And I don't think anyone I ever played with will complain that my toons are underperformin.

I know I'm far from the only player who plays this game for these reasons.

MA - from the start - was rather ill concieved. There's a reason no MMO has done this already.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, there is - they're all not as good as City of Heroes

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Someone has to be first.

Yes - I know that CoX isn't actually 1st with PCC, but it probably stands as 1st for a MMO of such a size to do it with a generally user-friendly system that anyone and everyone can use without needing technical (programming/graphics/design) ability.

And I disagree with Sing that it was rather ill conceived. The concept is spot on, it's part of the execution that failed.

The idea of an easy-to-use system for players to create missions is what more MMOs need. That's the concept - that's not ill-conceived.

But the execution needed tweaking to stop or remove exploitative missions (or missions falling outside the devs acceptable boundaries) or to prevent exploits from getting into the system in the first place.

It should have launched with a smaller number of resources (mobs/maps) that was added to regularly once it was clear that there were no major exploits in existing assets would have been better than adding so many assets and then removing so many of them when exploits came to light. Then MA PL/farms wouldn't have become such a problem (most of the problem has been because of farms that skew the risk/reward ratio) and authors wouldn't be anoyed at arcs becoming broken when assets are stripped out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As someone who loves the MA, I agree with all of this. But I think the devs have realised that by now aswell. (They should have anyway.)
Ah well, the price of being a pioneer and hindsight is always 20-20 and all that jazz I guess.

Pistols and Demons not in i16.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well duh.

I was very obvious it would be this way really ...
  12. Yey Archery Corruptors! This issue is sold to me on that basis alone.
I like most other proliferation choices aswell (claw brutes! Stone assault!) I REALLY want broadsword brutes though! But I guess this leaves me something to look forward too, right?

Unlike for a lot people, power customisation wasn't on the top of my 'most wanted list'. But I appreciate the effort that went into it, and maybe even the need for it to stay competitive with the (now not so) future competition.
And,hey, more options are never a bad thing. I'm sure I'll find some uses for it

The difficulty changes are something I didn't expect, but my brute is looking forward to blitzing through 8 man villainous spawns. (Farmers already farm, this just removes the need to bother me about it. And as long as you don't use obvious exploits I couldn't care less about how you play your game.)

Between the AE en these new proliferations there's enough to keep me entertained till GR hits the shelves, so all's good in my book.

I'm not that fond of the Issue name though.

Be serious. If NCSoft are going to continue with these ridiculous packs they should at least drop to micro payments to compensate for the high price of the packs. I can’t justify spending £8.99 a month on a old game AND another £6 for it’s packs, especially when they offer so little value for money

    [/ QUOTE ]
I partly agree, the previous 2 and Mac Valkery pack were worth their money, but i dont know if i am so superhappy about this pack 3.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why is that? The only difference is that this one doesn't have is a (fun but semi-useless) power, but we get the tailer options instead. If you ask me this has MORE value for it's money than the previous ones.

    Super Booster III: Superscience

    Includes:
    1 new costume set
    2 new emotes
    2 costume change emotes
And the ability to use a Cosmetic Surgeon NPC – gender transformation

    That's it???
    £5.99 worth??

    Simple solution. Don't buy it.

I was off at one anyway. I assure you I had nothing to do with this. What it's for though, I don't know. The booster is too bugged for live, no?
    Bleh, iunno.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's still bugged yes, but BaB said it was a "non-critical, but high priority" bug. So my guess is that the non-critical part means they'll push it to live as is.
Which is fine with me really. I'd rather have the booster this week than wait another week.

Still, there's little point to trolling, and all it does is end up with threads being derailed. and lol @ rent for the high horse XD

/On topic, let's get back to disscussing carpenter's departure?

Actually your post caused the thread to derail not GG's. But don't let that stop you from trolling her.

Spandex is for life, so see you in an Issue or two

    [/ QUOTE ]

Another unhelpful, sarcastic and almost insulting remark to a player who's trying to make him leave. Your one liners Do start to get annoying. Reported

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can maybe understand how you get so worked up about all the repetetive one liners (No honestly I really don't, as far as spammers go GG is pretty harmless) But I really can't see how her comments are sarcastic and insulting?
  18. I got plenty of characters, but I'm not really good with names. These are a couple I'm quite fond of though.

Dolor - my fire/paindom. Nice and simple. Was 50 in 4 weeks, fastest I ever managed (altitis )

Celestial Fury - Archery/fire blaster. My angel toon. I love the name and concept, but she's stuck in her mid 30's for over a year now (blue side is meh ).

The Grinning Fool - Mind/psy dom. nightmarish jester. Hoping to finally get him out of his low 30's now doms have been buffed.

And finally, one to add to the list of bad word jokes, The White Picket Fencer. DB/SR scrapper. He's been lvl 4 ever since his first day of existence over a year ago. Love his concept, but he's blue side ... and a scrapper ...

    Maintenance...

Grmbl, Just came back from a weekend with loud music, alcohol, little to no sleep and way, way to much sun (got sunburn on my nose )... I was anticipating a relaxing afternoon of gaming and now both my MMO's are down for a good chunk of the day (EVE is down aswell for a patch).

What am I supposed to do now? huh? huh?

    This better be Issue 15!
  20. I'd rather have it that they converted Illusion Control into a MM primary

Colour customisation doesn't impress me. I want new sets and zones! New character models (I.e why do we all have to have 2 arms and 2 legs, why not a body like the snakes have?)

    And new cossie parts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's unlikely that it will be colour customisation only, that feature shouldn't be too difficult to implement since it's already possible to alter the colours on the auras.
New costume parts will hopefully be available as well, but new body types (especially non-humanoid ones like the snakes) are unfortunately unlikely outside an expansion due to the required animation work though I'd love to see that feature as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, the devs said, and have said multiple times in the past that the reason why we didn't have colour costumisation sooner is not because it was impossible to do, not even because it was hard to do, but because it was just an incredible amount of work that they simply did not have the manpower for, if they still wanted to release other stuff.

It wasn't/isn't as simple as changing the colours of the auras, because the colours were actually coded into the powers. So they had to either make a new version of every single power for every single colour or completely recode the way colours are integrated in the powers.
  22. Very nice work Doc, I really like your style. To bad you'll stop posting these, but I'm dropping in on your dev art page every now and then to check out your stuff.
  23. I actually like all of them. The 2nd place one I might even consider buying.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Does anyone here ever actually join SG's that get advertised over broadcast? I know that I for one, wouldn't do so...

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, because you're an established player with an established SG and a bunch of globals (I assume anyway ).
Broadcasts are a good way to rake up newbes and people in dead/dying SG's looking for a change. Having a bunch of new players in your SG can actually be quite fun and can form a nice foundation for a newly formed SG. And "the kick from SG button" solves any problems that may arrise
