Quote:The analogy's crap.Keep telling yourself that.
The analogy sticks.
There just ain't no way that anybody could have been on the Internet for 5 years (forum join date 2005) and NOT have heard of Slashdot. Not when New York Times has mentioned them. Not when Fox News has mentioned them. Not when CNN has mentioned them. Not when CBS, NBC, ABC, Reuters, and the Associated Press have mentioned them.
You would have to have your head buried in a lump of concrete to have been on the web for that long and never have at least HEARD somebody refer to Slashdot.
On the internet since Age of Empires, never heard of Slashdot before this thread. -
Quote:The forum automatically adds the **** to cover up 'bad' words. Why is it everyone thinks they have to swear to get their point through? And then since swearing is expressly forbidden in the forums they decide to use special characters to "hide" the fact that they are swearing.
Here is a lesson that a 14 year old (me) learned last year, swearing just tells people you are ignorant and petty, therefore not to be listened too. If you want to be not just listened too, but heard, then try writing in such a way that people WANT to listen because of the strengths of your arguement. Heck, then even people who disagree with you will normally give a nod to your way of thinking and respect your arguement more.
(Btw, I learned this the hard way. Thanks Dad!)
Just a thought from a 14 year old delinquent.
Personally I find it an unnecessary PC thing, used to appease the oversensitives. But whatever floats your boat. -
On these boards? Really? Never noticed that.

Quote:I'll go on record and say: I had never heard of Slashdot in any way, shape or form before your earlier post.... you have seriously never heard of Slashdot, Slashdotting, or the Slashdot effect?
That's sort of like going into a computer store and asking who Microsoft is.
What do I win? -
I once had a Red Name be first post after me.
Beat that losers!

Quote:Pay attention to this post David! Pretty please? While making Organic Armor with skin is not scheduled for, I certainly hope that the demand they've seen for such an option changes their mind. It really should have been the default option. This organic armor is something that is growing on you, mutating your body from the outside. Not some body tights that had bone glued onto it.

Quote:Both Germany and Argentina were still clearly the better teams and won with more than 1 goal difference. Those calls shouldn't have happened, and I hope the FIFA finally pull their heads out of their ***** and into the 21e century, but those were hardly match deciding events imo.So it aint the team's who decide who'll be the champion, but the referee's. Alike the match of Argentina vs Mexico, same story where he didnt see the offside.
At 4pm its time for our folks, with a bad-reputation (i like to trow yellow cards around) referee.. aint looking good -

Quote:Yeah ... No.I personally wouldn't mind seeing them add the need to aim for ranged attacks and having to keep your opponent in your proverbial cross-hairs (i.e. facing an opponent) for melee attacks kind of like DDO. Defense and accuracy would still come into play but skill would also be a factor. The fact that hit or miss is down to a simple roll of virtual dice can, in some cases, be somewhat immersion breaking.

Do you thank the blaster or scrapper every time he kills an enemy? Do you thenk the empath/thermal/paindom everytime he heals you? Do you thank the tank everytime he takes the alpha? Do you thank the debuffers everytime they neutralize a spawn?

Quote:Actually, noone is saying that they wont still invite random people not falling into the 'tiers'. It's entirely possible, and imo likely even.Fair enough.
It's very simple. If you don't qualify or fall under for any of the 4 methods of getting into CB, you simply, WON'T get to play the beta, nor will you see it until release day.
Capisci?
In any case everyone can still check out GR once it goes into open beta, several weeks before release. -
Quote:Booster packs are always released in the evening or late afternoon for the EU. It was with all the previous ones and it'll be the same for this one. US company, US hours.Yup 1150 uk time and still no sign of Pack V. Blah blah blah thursday you can pay. Half a day gone so far.
I'm not normally one to moan but got the day off to play around with it and so far wasted.
It would've been a lot smarter to take your day off tomorrow. -
Quote:I'd like to second this motion.Overall some good fixes. Thank you to the team for getting these out.
I would like to make one request though, could we get these notes posted at about the same time the patch goes out? Also, could the website get updated with these patch notes sometime today? Obviously I do not speak for everyone, but waiting several hours to find out what I am downloading is slightly annoying and then when I go to the main website and can't find the info at all . . . aggravating. At least the forums had them, but not til a few hours after the patch and looking things up in the forums is a whole new annoyance in and of itself.
Not trying to rant, just a suggestion. -
Quote:Yea, this is how I'm feeling about the whole pvp thing really. I used to dable a bit with non-pvp optimised characters. Then I started leveling a toon to 50 specificly for pvp. Got a build and a budget for the IO's ready. Then they changed how pvp worked and I lost interest... Meh.It becomes less fun when you have to learn a completely new system that doesn't resemble in the least how it works elsewhere in the game, too. The differences were minor and easy to keep track of for the casual PvPers before. Now it's like I have to learn a new game. Plus, I liken PvP now to fighting in mud and hitting like a little girl. It's the anti-fun.
If I believed in conspiracy theories, I almost might believe they're tanking it on purpose. -

Quote:You must be doing it wrong. My richest villain has over a billion and I have almost that again spread out over my other 5 lvl 50 villains. It's about time Villains get to grab up some of that Hero money. As long as I've been playing, it always seemed like Heroes were big bankin' ballers and Villains were p*ss pot paupers. But now that both sides will be in the same economy it will be equal opportunity for everybody. It's even better that you can glee-mail between your own Heroes and Villains, because Lord knows my Vills need a bailout (My richest hero=over 760 million on hand, WITH a completed IO build. My richest villain=over 40 million on hand with SOs)
That's all from regular play. Missions and SF's. I don't play the market and the times I've joined a farm team (from friends or SG) can be counted on one hand.
My sole lvl 50 hero (2 years old) that I almost never play is on SO's and has just under 200 million in storage. He's keeping that handy for when I finally get around finishing my PB to lvl 50.
And it's not as if I play that much. Some weeks it has been 10-20 hours, true, but others it was just 1-2 hours, and there have been a few streches of time over the past 3.5 years that I haven't played at all.
I have to admit that I don't do purple or pvp sets. Other than that all my villains have more than decent slotting.
My point being: Infamy/influence isn't hard to come by in this game. If it is for you you're doing something wrong.
Anyway, I'm glad to see these change. I hope it stabilizes some of the more outrageously manipulated salvage prices. -
Quote:True, doesn't change the fact that some people simply are to stupid to follow simple instructions (both ingame and provided by me) and then blame it on the game.Oh wow that post is awesome. More interesting scanners (maybe tips will provide such?), and less them darn kids these days. Pre-I8 hero arcs are ridiculously convoluted and not in an interesting or challenging way.
My kid brother plays this game since he was 11 years old (13 now) he doesn't speak English as a first language (he learned a lot through this game though, he's currently reading a novel in English) and still he never had problems with doing anything in this game.

Quote:Artificially inflated demand maybe. Common salvage going for over 1k just isn't natural. My brother and me amused ourselves a long while back with inflating the red side alchemical silver prices, just to see if we could. We just bought everything available on the market under 20k (was well over a thousend of them at the time) and started putting some of it back up for 50k, later increasing to 100k. Worked like a charm. We maintained this for a week or 2. Once we stopped it all collapsed back to 10k-25k a piece in a day. Still rediculously expensive imo. While I'd love to take credit for this, it's actually a weird thing that some kooky people call "supply and demand".
Seeing the wonkey price history red side Alchemical Silvers a lot of people have been doing this. Currently it sells for 250-5000inf or something.
Or what about 50-100k prices on luck charms while there are thousands in supply? (No idea if this is still the case, haven't bothered with heroside salvage in a while).
I buy just about all my common salvage for 250 inf, 10k being the absolute limit for some extreme cases. It's just a matter of patience (a few minutes to a day at max). I can afford alot more, but I just find it rediculous to do so, when all the prices are inflated artificially.
Edit: Yey, inf transfers and insp trading across sides! -

So go play fps. I like my twitch free, cruise control gameplay thank you very much.

and I can understand some German, though I don't speak it. -
Quote:I disagree strongly with this. People get offended by anything. If you take offense to a comment that wasn't intended to be offensive the problem lies with you, not with the person stating the comment. As I said in a post much earlier in this thread, I believe that the measure of whether a term is offensive should not be "Did I intend to offend someone?", but rather "Was someone offended?".
If someone takes something I say the wrong way, I may elaborate trying to express my meaning better, but I see no need to apologise for any perceived offense on his part.
