Yeah, unlocking a powerset is account-wide, not limited to any one server. There might be something else going on. Obvious questions first:
- Do you have multiple accounts, and perhaps you unlocked Beam Rifle on a different account?
- Maybe your outfit is using a costume piece you haven't bought on this account?
- Do you have an unlocked and unused character slot?
Tell us a little more info. Like, at which point in the character creation screen are you getting stopped? -
Quote:I play a lot of melee. I'll see if I can sum it up, at least as I see it.After almost 6 years of playing this game, I still don't understand why melee players hate when targets get knocked back by other teammates.
It's mostly that 90% of any given melee character's contribution happens within 7 feet of the spawn. They don't get to stand back and shoot, they have to move to each mob individually and then start hitting. When you can only get one hit in before your target is sent flying out of your range, that gets old pretty fast.
Quote:You are on the same team. Does it really matter who does the defeating?
Quote:Let the ranged characters take care of the foes out of your range. That's what they're there for. Just move on to the next one.
Quote:My main is an energy blaster, and I also have a PB. Knockback is great. I team with them all the time, and ne'er a complaint about it.
Quote:I echo the comments that allowing individuals to turn off KB would do nothing for teams, unless you managed to find an entire team where everyone had it turned off. That's a step in the wrong direction, back to the days of "R U Healorz?"
Quote:If you solo exclusively and can't handle your own KB, perhaps that powerset isn't for you.
So, yeah. That's my take. -
Okay then, as long as it's not just me. For a while there I thought something might have gone wrong with my install. Thanks for the confirmation.
Also, I thought I had put this in the Player Help section... hehe, guess that's what I get for posting without looking where I am first -
Back in the original I-21 beta I noticed that a few of the costume change emotes had gone a little sideways. NinjaLeap and SmokeBomb no longer played sounds, and DimensionShift went from the multi-colored transparent silhouettes to solid oily black ones. Those changes all made it to live, and my audio/graphics settings are the same in both clients. Now, I never figured this would be a high priority bug to fix, but I haven't even seen anyone else mention them. Is anyone else noticing these things or is it just me?

I agree with the people saying return it to normal as default, and give us the option to have it this way per character. Knockback has been working the same way for seven years, there's no reason the people who like it should have to deal with this big a change. But, just like the whole "unwanted movement speed buffs" deal, when you hate something that much, you're willing to take extra steps to get it out of your life.

I don't know, Steve. I still think that new novelty rug might be pretty bad taste here in the lab.

I use my solo SG's storage and crafting table all the time, and the porters as often as any other travel method. My reasoning is, I went through the trouble of getting the beacons, might as well use 'em.
I think part of their reasoning for not making solo SGs easier is that they want it to be strictly a group activity, and one person is not a group.
And it could be because opening an SG base is the same as opening an instanced mission. So if they make it easy for every character on every server to have their own base, that could increase the lag people see while in missions. *shrugs* But that's just me trying to make sense of it, not something I actually heard.
I think that if they're going to be making any major changes to supergroups, part of those changes should be to give base instances their own server. That would reduce interference with mission instances, and allow them to load a permanent auction house database onto the server, so people can use /auctionhouse in their base as well. -

The haunted house was really cool, sorry you missed it.
Although, earlier this year the devs reopened the halloween event for a while in... I think it was April. I forget the reasons, but it shows that they're not opposed to bringing things back "out of season" here and there. So you might get your chance before next year! (Stress the "might" part, of course).

I'm a player and I approve this message.

Accapella, too. They were actually on their way to a performance at the train station in that picture. They had gathered around in a circle to warm up their voices, when some hero saw them and... well that was the end of that career.
-
Ooh ooh! The energy doesn't have to be just blue anymore!
And both trains go to the same places now.
And we can fly at level 4.
And we can walk at level 2.
Fitness is inherent!
You should see how sidekicking works these days.
There are no level restrictions on zones anymore.
EATs and VEATs unlock at 20 instead of 50.
The basic ATs are no longer Hero/Villain-only.
There's an evil goatee dimension. (Not many goatees though.)
We have a holodeck! (But don't call it a holodeck.)
We can fall from nobility, and redeem our sins.
We can become like unto gods.
And there's a wolf!
Howdy! Welcome back -
Quote:Hehe, before checking that thread out I thought you meant the ones from Total Wipeout.I think Summer would be a great time for the much loved Big Red Ball!
Also: fireworks, hawaiian shirts, surfing, and a giant octopus attack? I am so there! -

That's understandable. Halloween is a pretty busy day for anyone who has kids. Or is a kid. Or has a party. Or is a party. Or... wait, what was the question again?
-
Absolutely! I remember something like a year ago, looking around me and thinking, "Man... were these people dared to push the random button and accept whatever came out?"
Nowadays about nine out of ten outfits I see are at least identifiable. Even if I don't personally like it, I can tell what they were going for, and that's a drastic improvement by itself. Plus, some of the costumes I see are flat out amazing. And the enormous variety of looks you can make is just incredible.
Kicking butt is one thing, but kicking butt and looking awesome? That's priceless -
Quote:Then don't list the things that are ready, just the ones that are still counting. Much shorter list.Given how many Task Forces there are, such a command would likely yield a little too much output ...
I'd prefer it in a window myself. Maybe in there next to the Mission and Contact details. But however it works, I'd love to see a feature like this! -
Posi said in one of the recent Ustreams that they have some great ideas for a summer event, they just need to find time in the schedule to actually make the darn thing. He didn't go into any more detail on what the ideas were though. But if it's half as good as the Haunted House, I'm sure I'd like it
-
Yeah, it's a great little place ain't it?
I haven't heard tell of any official in-game reason to go there, like a mission or anything. I think it's just one of those cool little touches that the devs like to put in here and there. -
It would for at least me.
I know that Shield Defense draws the shield when you turn on any one of its toggles, and you don't put away the shield until you've turned off every one of those toggles. It stands to reason to have a toggle like that for weapons, really... I like this idea.
I don't even think you'd need both an attack delay and an endurance cost. Since the accuracy buff was added to compensate for a redraw delay, losing that delay now in exchange for an endurance cost would essentially be using the endurance cost to "pay for" that accuracy buff. Much less re-balancing work to do. Make the end cost something worthy of that set's accuracy boost (noticeable but not insurmountable), and it just sort of works itself out.
I think it might even work better as an opt-in after the fact, rather than altering the powersets themselves. There could be an NPC (perhaps the Field Analysts / Fateweavers) that you'd visit who would first verify whether you actually have a weapon powerset, and if you do, grant you this as an inherent or temporary power.
One question I have though, is for characters using two different weapon powersets. Something like Trick Arrow / Dual Pistols. Would activating one weapon toggle de-toggle any others, suppress them temporarily, or what? -
Huh. Well there's a pretty big list of bugfixes for the new patch on beta, maybe it's already gone in that build. Other than that... *shrugs*. Don't use it too much or Marty might pop out?
