Keep in mind, when Fitness turns inherent in I-19 we'll be able to get Stamina at level 2. That would be the perfect place for +End if you're going to do any exemplaring, since a Proc can only work as long as the power it's in is available. And you'll never exemplar too far down to use a level 2 power

Unless you're putting it in Physical to get a set bonus, of course.
  2. I got mine in Perez Park. There's this cabin at the south end that they seemed to love hanging out at.

I find hazard zones great for badge hunting, especially when you're after bosses. The spawns are generally larger than city zones and there's almost always bosses floating around.

    Fabricator Badge

Whenever I'm trying for the crafting badges, I have that character make all the IOs for my still-leveling characters. Fill every slot, including brawl and rest, even if you just use a level 10. Sure there are faster and simpler methods, but at least this way you're making your alts stronger too.

By people do you mean me? Because if I'm coming across as eager to have them, then I apologize. I really couldn't care less. But I did kinda get swept up in explaining my comments, I guess

If there's a power I really want, and it needs unlocking, I'll unlock it. If i don't like what it takes to unlock it, I'll ignore it. Simple as that for me.

The part I'm eager about is that whole "just the zones you've seen so far" comment by War Witch in Q13. It makes me hopeful that 1-20 is a current limit on Praetoria, not an ultimate limit.

Thanks to the devs for offering the Q&A!

That sure is how I read it, yep.

    Quote:
So, why would there be a need to add or subtract anything? It seems to me that everyone will now be on an equal footing.
Well, the patron arcs are currently only found villain-side. So technically not everyone can access them. Villains, Vigilantes and Rogues will be able to, but not Heroes. It's a straight up issue of balance; one side will have more than the other.

When they were created, Patron Pools were the balance to Ancillary Pools. Now that villains are getting Ancillary Pools as well, the Patron Pools are an extra option available to every character in the game except Heroes.

Usually when people complain about balance issues, it's over something that Heroes are getting that Villains are not. That is a fair complaint, and those who make that complaint feel justified to make it. (Loudly and without rest, in some cases. )

However, you can bet that if Heroes were given access to Patron Pools, but Villains weren't given access to Ancillary Pools, this thread would already be 20 pages long.

Good point. There's also the Defender's Vigilance, which very recently got tweaked. No argument there.

My character's powers should have nothing to do with some in game character whatsoever. As I said before, my archer can fire arrows just fine with out Manticore's guidance.
I agree. I believe that Patron Pools should never have required ingame actions to unlock in the first place. But they do require that. So if heroes ever did get their own set, either the heroes' set would have to be unlocked by story arc as well, or the villains' set would have to be reworked to match whatever the hero set was created with.

On the other hand, take a good look at CoV as a whole. The development team seemed to put more emphasis on story than they had in the parts of CoH that were made before the expansion. I'd say they deliberately tied the Patron Pools into working with ingame characters, to keep with the "deeper stories" concept they were shooting for.

    Quote:
They should rework it, making the Patron arcs optional and making PPPs unlocked just like the APPs. And, if they want, they could add in a hero version of those optional Patron storyarcs where heroes can choose a heroic group to work with, IE Legacy Chain, Longbow, Wyvern, or the PPD. But this would all be in the name of adding content, and be related to a character's abilities in no way.
My take on it is that both sides should have Ancillary Power Pools which automatically unlock at the upper levels. They also should both have access to power pools that are unlocked through ingame storylines. These power pools are thematically tied to that character or organization, and - within the game's fiction - working with that person/group is the only way to learn those particular secrets. If anyone at all could spontaneously develop powers exactly like theirs, they would have been defeated long ago. But the fact that they're still here is proof that they know how to keep a few secrets.

Fair enough. But if the question is making sure both factions have the same amount of options, then you either need to remove the villain pools, or add new hero pools. And it's a little late to remove the villain pools.

If you're adding, then it only makes sense to go with similar storyline reasons. Patron Power Pools are explained as working more closely with a powerful mentor, helping to achieve that mentor's goals. So Guidance Power Pools should be like that, but for heroic reasons, like protecting the planet from dimensional invaders or ruthless unstoppable villains.

I would much rather prefer them unlocking PPPs to everyone and making the Patron missions just an optional arc where your character wants to become a higher member of Arachnos, working closely with one Patron to reach said goal.
So how about the Hero Patron Pools are tied to ingame organizations rather than signature heroes? Longbow, Midnighters (or Ouroboros directly), Portal, and Vanguard. They each have their own distinct enemies and wars to wage, giving great ways to expand a hero both in power and story.

When I16 introduced Super Sidekicking, the level restrictions were removed from accessing hazard and trial zones. You can now use the RWZ portal in Atlas as early as level 1. Once you get there, turn right around and go to PI or FF from there. Mind you, doing that at level 1 is a really bad idea... unless you're just visiting the RWZ tailor or invention table.

Right now my four beacons are:

Atlas: Between the yellow line, wents, RWZ, and a place to pay base rent it's central to a lot of common activities for characters across most levels. Plus it connects directly to the Hollows and Perez, and has AE for an occasional change of pace.

Talos: The beacon here drops you off next to the green line and wents, the zone has all five origin stores relatively close to one another, plus it connects directly to Striga, Dark Astoria, FF and PI.

Peregrine: The point of base TPs is to get you where you want to go quickly, and I often want to go to PI. So a direct link there just makes sense. Plus it connects to FBZ, and has the high level story arcs. But I would switch this one out temporarily, to save myself running-around time on an arc or TF. Especially if exemplared.

Steel: The beacon drops you very close to the green line. Whenever I want to have a low level character turn in event salvage, the run from beacon to train is very short and relatively safe (though I usually wait till level 4 so I can use Ninja Run). There's not enough long-term use for me though, so while it's nice, this is the first beacon I will switch out when I have a specific destination and don't have time for scenery.

To explain the long-term use comment: It does have both green and yellow lines, a tailor, and all five origin stores. However I find those things are easier to reach through other zones. And although Steel Canyon is arguably one of the busiest zones in the game, the tp beacon drops you off in a high-end neighborhood - by the time you can survive that part of town, you're very close to moving on to a new zone anyway.

Rugiel found the proper name for this. You type in PodPerson

You know, like Invasion of the Bodysnatchers?

  14. The slash command for Energy Morph hasn't worked since beta started for the booster. It was the first post after Avatea's in the Emote Bug Report.

It could be that whoever typed in that part of the code made a teeny little typo, or that one line got forgotten. It happens. Then again maybe the slash command got called by a different name, kinda like how one of the Martial Arts Booster cce's is called Ninja Leap in the costume change window, but the /cce name is NinjaJump

    new guy..

Howdy Fox! I've only been around for about a year and a half myself, so I can still remember what it's like to be the new guy . Here's a few things I wish I'd learned earlier on:
    • Don't waste slots on Brawl, Sprint or Rest. You'll just want them back later.
    • Don't worry about money. By the mid-20's you should have several million inf just from playing normally. It's as easy as breathing to make inf in this game, even if you decide never to use the Consignment House / Black Market. (But if you do, you might find that making inf is easier than breathing.)
    • Save your free tailor tokens for the higher levels. Ten thousand inf seems like a lot early on, but around the mid 40's costume changes start regularly costing 1 and 2 million. That's not much once you reach that level, but why spend free vouchers on cheap stuff?
    • If you change your settings or options at all, and you want other characters to have those same settings, click the 'Save to Default' button. You can 'Load from Default' at any time, plus new characters automatically load the default file.
    • ParagonWiki is your friend. CohTitan is your friend's supergroup.
    • "cityofheroes.wikia" is NOT your friend. It is a bad person in a smelly van trying to offer you candy. Do not take its candy. (It was taken over with malware a while back and I don't think it's ever been fixed.)
    • Never be afraid to ask questions, both in the game and here on the forums. There's always goodhearted folks around who like helping people out.
    Welcome to the City
  16. How about Silverspike ? I checked earlier and it was available on Infinity, though not on Justice (and not on Virtue anymore ).

Have a friend's character stay in the original group just long enough for you to get to the registrar. They leave the group and moments later you start it again on the other side. A disposable level one will do nicely for this purpose.

also any chance of a cancel buff option?
Ohhh I want that too. But it'll be difficult at best, maybe too much to bother with. If I understand right the game engine has no way to distinguish between buff and debuff, and obviously they're not gonna let us cancel debuffs. Recoding that mechanic is an enormous change to try and implement after all this time.

I'm hopeful for it coming in the long run though. After all, we once thought the same thing about power customization and market merging...

    If it was a contest:
    1. each entrant would have to include a legal release statement,
    2. some countries would be unable to enter due to marketing exclusivity rights or prize-claiming regulations or just plain funky IP issues, and
    3. they'd have to assign a staff member to sort through all the entries (removing all those ineligible for the above reasons) and select the winners.
    But if it's a giveaway:
    1. they post several valid codes, and
    2. people can start using them immediately.
Given that, calling it a contest would be misleading.

In any case, good luck to those who try to snag one!

If I was reading it correctly, what they meant was they pre-ordered through Gamestop before the Razer promotion came along. So they were asking the Gamestop people to change their order, after the fact, to include the Razer promotion. It seems that some of the stores / staff were willing to make that change without any trouble. Others were apparently insisting that the customer would have to cancel their previous order and then place a new one, if they wanted the extra promo items.
