OK, I just wanna say this now. "forced backstory" is no excuse not to take the tank mage on offer and complain about wanting a new. I'm currently working on a guide that turns SoAs into tank mages and on my SoA, I tank all the content, even iTrials, easily.
-
I was ready, managed to get a full set of the SoA ATO, and upgrade the proc to superior.
I am personally loving the set. The bonus ignore the rule of 5s (because it is 1 of a kind) meaning I can slot and have got myself an extra bit of recharge, the damage boost is negligible, but the proc makes it for me. A terrorize and damage debuff that works really well. I was running x8 and all the minions and some of the lts, rarely a boss would be terrorized from what I could see.
So what do you guys think of the new stuff?
Also, correct me if I am wrong but:
Brute, tanker, scrapper, SoA, Kheld, Dom are gonna be the ATOs to get because of their good looking procs etc while defender, corrupter, blaster, controller, stalker procs are somewhat less good.
Am I right? -
OK, been testing it on groups of Malta (grey to me) in RWZ (because they tend to bunch up nicely). And 2 groups of 51+ Rikti
The terroize effect only seemed to fire off on minions only and sometimes there was a delay of up to 5 seconds.
I then made a random x8 AE map with winter horde on it to test.
I ran between 4 spawns of x8 winter horde in a minute, just testing the proc. In each spawn, I would terrorize 2-5 minions and only 1 lieutenant I noticed. However, I was doing this by eye, no programs running or whatever.
Are the terroize and -dmg linked? So it can proc on some enemy who is not terroized but still damage debuffed? -
OK.
The new ATIO is live. I have it, it is worth having. The bonuses are nice and testing it on Rikti x8 spawns, they weren't even touching me and they got terroized quite quickly -
Quote:Sorry, I can't love and tolerate spelling and grammar like that, sets off my OCD so I cleaned up the worst of it.I'm not sure were to put this. I'm not a forum person much, so don't yell at me.
So I have a thought, since the hero epics are given and the villain patrons you have to work for and seem better in my eyes. Why not have epics be given to all? Hero patrons that have to be earned just like the villian that are a little better than the epics and equal with the villain patrons. I'd love to study under Back Ally Brawler or Positron and get some powers inspired by them.
I don't know what else to put, so have fun?
And it would be nice, but I think...unlikely. The game is shifting away from the FP with using being the main heroes now, so we don't need to learn from them, we are already better. -
Some nice fungal caves, like in the UG trial. Or a lab where the DE have started to invade.
Plants would be nice. Especially if they could do a "dirty" skin and a "clean" skin for it.
A power station would be nice. I'm not talking Terra Volta, something more high tech and clean looking.
Be cool if we could get some "forests". Just make an area, wall it off with trees, make tunnels through it with treetops being the roof, maybe the odd clearing?
Moon zone/space stations, good!
To go with the water ideas, an underwater base? Lots of curves etc and maybe glass roofs with some nice textures of stuff swimming around?
Convention halls.
Tram/train tunnels.
Can't think of any more but /signed for more maps, not zones. Double signed if we can have them on the AE asap! -
Heh, sorry, brain derp. You are right, bad example.
But I do feel the powers are slightly more useful than the shifts. For example the rebirth/incandescence destiny in Keyes is a god send, judgement makes the ending fight of Lam easier, Clarion is needed for UG etc. -
I never have fought Sally, I thought she was a proper GM, seems I was wrong >.>
Why are you agaisnt the bringing back of the old AE badges for tickets? Or are you thinking of a better way of doing it? -
So it gains in potency? How about the proccing, worth sticking in suppression or venom grenade?
-
So I've been kicking around a few ideas for badges and how to improve them, because while I like the idea, I find the execution a bit lacking in some respects. So here are my ideas.
1) Changing some of the badge requirements. Why do we need to defeat Sally twice, but not other GMs? While I don't think all the kill badges should be changed, I do think some of them need a little rebalance or the number of kills lowered slightly so there is a kinda flat line.
2) Bring back the AE badges. Stick them on the reward ticket vendor for 1000+ tickets each, people will love it.
3) For accolades, expand the requirements. So for task force commander, any 6 hero task force will work. Doing all the hero only ones, bumps it up to 11 badges, spread across the levels.
4) Adding new incarnate and other accolades. For example, maybe for doing Twinshots arcs, defeating x many clockworks and warworks, and the Antimatter collision arc, you get "Clockwork Efficiency", a 1 minute power for end reduction.
5) Adding more info to unlock able content. I would be nice to see what costumes we have unlocked with our badges, and which we have yet to do.
6) This is probably going into mod territory, but for the city map, the ability to hover over each city zone and see what exploration badges you are missing from there.
7) Adding an extra reward to Master of badges in TFs. I was thinking, for the first time only, a chunk of xp like the WST but slightly smaller, or at 50 a big chunk of prestige for your SG or maybe something incarnatey?
So what do you think? -
This idea wouldn't work, I think. As has been said, the powers are important, the levels are just for survivability. If you removed lore pets totally, I think BAF would turn into a PITA.
-
And we fixed the problem...stage 4 hadn't fully downloaded.
Thanks all! -
To stop people reading the whole thread, shall we just point out the OPs flaws?
1) "Lore-RP" Which is just taking characters from lore and nicking them basically. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but if this is flattery, bleh!
2) Calling people WoWtards for disagreeing with him about his "lore-RP"
3) Knowing very little about the lore and the little he does know is filtered through his brain and comes out just wrong
4) Posts that border on word salad, with bad spelling and words that aren't quite wrong but just don't quite fit, for example, your beloved toon.
5) Delusions of grandeur and jealousy of other or assumed jealousy. You are acting high and mighty, but so far you have shown us nothing to prove it.
My advice:
1) Drop the lore RP. Create your events around the lore. The new DA content is coming out, maybe you can begin to investigate strange events there with other heroes? Make this little insular fantasy something to share.
2) Stop insulting people. I am one of the people who goes stats then RP, but when I have a toon I like and is at the power level I want to RP at (no use having a toon who is a living god if he gets beaten up by gang members), I RP like crazy.
3) Study up on the lore and if need be include quotes to back yourself up.
4) Spell check and proof reading. I'm very happy to do both if you want to PM me your posts before you post them.
5) Show us your work that makes you worthy of our admiration and jealousy, before you go off like this.
Anyway, anyone got anything else to add? -
Blueruckus took down a pylon in 30 seconds using gun attacks etc. So they are a worthwhile option.

I find the best way to do it is this.
T1 Alpha, shards (a total of 12 merits turned into shards if you are doing it just via merits)
T2 Alpha, threads (10 merits and a bit of luck, as opposed to 20 merits)
T3 Alpha, shards (WST and 8 merits)
T4 Alpha Threads (Getting lucky) -
I've been playing MMOs for a while now and I've kinda developed a set of rules I try to abide by and I was wondering does anyone else have these?
1) Never team while angry. Read a book or watch a movie or play an FPS. If you are angry you can take it out on your teammates when they don't deserve it.
2) Let people play how they want to play, so long as it doesn't harm the team. I once was in a TF with a guy who only attacked minions. His reasoning for it. He was a super hero, he wanted to feel powerful, and taking 3 hits to fell some guy with a gun didn't make him feel powerful. We accepted this and adjusted for it and it worked very well.
3) Pass it on. When I started, I got given 20 mil for SOs and an Ouro. Now I've got a bil, I'm an incarnate and I'm a reasonable player. So I try and pass on what I can, be it an ouro hear, a few mil there, the odd costume contest.
4) Manners cost nothing.
5) If someone does something cool, be it get a good frag on you, do an amazing bit of soloing, have a good costume or bio, congratulate them on it.
6) Admit you are wrong and update your info.
7) Love and tolerate.
So does anyone else have rules they follow like this? -
This thread is made up of so much facepalm.
DV, mind if I call yo-, nah. DV. Have you ever considered you might be wrong? -
So my friend just downloaded CoH today, made an account, logged in. He could do the tutorial fine, he could run around the city fine, but as soon as he zones into a mission or DFB, everything but people/enemies vanishes, so he can't see walls, he can't see the floor, nothing.
I've encountered a similar problem in games where it didn't load the environment, but I'm not 100% sure, so any ideas for how to help him? -
Oh yeah. I 6 slotted supression for the new ATIO.
Basically, slot the whole set into it and then upgrade the proc for a nice 1.5% charge bonus and a 15% damage debuff proc on supression, then if you get 5 catalysts, use them all at once for full superior set. -
I got bored over lunch, built you this build.

This build is for hovering back and going pew pew mainly. I've managed to perma hasten, give good defence, have perma all pets and good team buffs.
The build isn't the cheapest there is, but I tried to keep the costs as low as possible while still keep what you wanted. If the purple immobilize set is too rich for your blood, you can swap it for 5 slots of Enfeebled Operation and still keep perma everything. Your biggest cost will be LoTG.
In this, you provide your team with some decent debuffs, ranged attacks, pets and you can use omega manuever to take the alpha strike.
The way I would play this is use hover to keep yourself at range for all but AVs. For AVs, you can throw in your shatter armour. And if you open your attack with the purple slotted immobilize, you have a chance to hold minions which means you can avoid alpha strikes and focus on those bosses at your leisure. Remember to attack before your pets so they don't eat Alphas and stay close enough for your def/res buffs for them to work. Your biggest threat status effect wise, will be knockback, so target them first.
Your toggles are you greatest strength and weakness. The Cardiac core will be amazing for you as it reduces end costs on an end heavy AT and adds much needed range. For destiny, rebirth heals your pets, ageless makes you recharge faster but isn't needed, barrier buffs your defences to godly for alpha strikes and cardiac isn't really needed.
Any suggestions/ideas? -
My build is made to tank, and I do. If you want to be more ranged, you can move things around, drop some melee and AoE, but try and stay on the right side of 35%

Buying the name Anansi on the Virtue server.
I know buying names is stupid, but it is the name or racial name of my OC who I recreated in game and Anansi Spider doesn't quite cut it.
If you have the name and will release it for free, great, PM me, if you have it and want to sell it, PM me, lets works out the price. -

I think you are nerfing your attacks and defence quite a bit, but here is my build, you might get some ideas. With that I can solo GMs and other nasties.
If you are going to be doing meleeing, you want to up all your defences, but if you just have 5 pets, then you can focus on range and take something else for PP, like Ghost Widow or Mu. -
*facepalm* Why delete content that is already there? As an idea that is just silly. Revamp it, yeah, but deleting all that content and work is stupid.
I'm use to using DFB for fast levels and what Prae is for me is an example of what the devs can do.
Sure it is hard as hell, but the opportunity to solo without the temptation to go DFB to PL as fast as possible.
I would like to see more story though, and the Incarnate trials, and DA, and First Ward have given us more Prae story hooks, I think.
What is Duncan playing at? Now we know Scott is crazy, maybe we can rise up in the resistance or maybe it will break apart? Cole isn't such a bad guy, in the end, not evil, just possessed by the Well and trying to save both the Primal and the Prae world. Sure he is wrong and needs a smack down, but maybe post Tyrant trial we will be working with him to restore prae? Lots of options. -
My guess is that these might actually be slightly cheaper than purples.
They use astrals/normal merits, which are easily obtainable. 4 day cooling off period? About the time I would need to refarm merits etc.
First week or two or three, expect sky high prices, about double or triple the normal price. After that, I'm thinking the 200-300 mil mark?
